We needed a option for a late-ish dinner after running a bunch of holiday errands. We stopped at urban noodle for a warm ramen on a cold night. It was about 910pm. (They are open til 10pm) Super fun decor on the walls. You order at the front counter and the. Pick a seat. Our food was ready super quick! The pork belly bun was light and flavorful. The fried potstickers were the best we've had in the area! You must get them! ASAP! The black garlic ramen was so delicious. I added a bit of their hot chili oil that set it over the top! The shoyu ramen was decent. Lacked in flavor compared to the black garlic ramen.(understandable of course lol) a little soy perked it right up! The pork belly was perfectly cooked on all the dishes. Even had a nice charred flavor on it. Will definitely be back to try their hand pulled noodle dishes!
Came here on a random Sunday for lunch. Place was pretty empty, so the service was easy and quick, and I had my pick of seating. I had the tonkotsu ramen. It was just OK. The pork belly was amazing, but the broth left a lot to be desired. It was also pretty heavy-handed on the mushrooms, which eventually gave me the ick. Perhaps I picked the wrong dish.
I had to share a few highlights from my lunch hangout with with my buddy Serianna at urban noodles We enjoyed few of their new hand pulled and hand shaved noodle dishes along with a few classic favorites. I'm a huge fan of cold noodle dishes on hot days so the hand pulled Spicy Cold Noodles with beef, carrot, cucumber, chilioil, garlic juice, scallion ,cilantro were perfect for me. if you're in the mood for something to warm you up on a rain day, I would recommend either their Tomato Roast Beef Noodle Soup or their rich and hearty Spicy Beef Rib Noodle Soup. I definitely loved their twice cooked takoyaki. I'm not a huge fan of the softer centers found in most traditional takoyaki so I appreciate that UN will cook these until the center is firmer upon request. my buddy enjoyed their Seafood Ramen which included a melody of shrimp, mussels, and scallops in a seafood based broth.
Not that terrible but not that good, either. The good: Service is fast and friendly. The hand pulled noodles aren't the best in the area but they're not bad at all. The pickled radish starter didn't look anything like the photo but it was tasty (mostly soy sauce, a little vinegar) and turned out to be more what I expected from the description. It was the best dish we had. Despite the iffy sanitation score the dining area looked clean and the back of the house seemed okay. The bad: Both broths were fairly tasteless aside from the copious amounts of salt. You could be forgiven for thinking that the word "crisp" means something entirely different in Chinese than it does in English. The chewy, ragged scraps of fish were over seasoned with black pepper and nothing else and were dumped in the very hot broth to boil away. Had I known that the fish was only boiled I would have ordered something else as I really don't care for boiled fish. Fortunately there wasn't that much fish anyhow. Spend a few more dollars and go someplace with a better idea how to season food.
Phenomenal spot and hidden gem! Several things that stand out: - High quality ramen for an extremely affordable price (the broth is authentic and flavorful, and they mean it when they say spicy) - Geared towards Asian audience, in a good way. The food is very authentic. - AMAZING ambiance and atmosphere if you're looking for a quiet spot. My friends and I thought the setting was awesome. There was amazing music, but it was quiet enough to hear one another. Oftentimes restaurants are so loud that it's hard to engage in conversation, but the place was abnormally quiet / restful. I will hands down come back again and take rounds of friends here.
First time checking out Urban Noodle. Nice and clean locations, service is quick. We ordered a few popular items. Overall I enjoyed the soup the best.
We had tried coming here when they first opened but it was mobbed so we didn't go in. Finally came around to it with a discount offer from a local dining club. It's a fast casual atmosphere where you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. There are lots of offerings but I wanted a dish with hand-pulled noodles (I understand a relatively recent addition) so I got the traditional beef soup while my wife got tofu curry ramen. Both were big and delicious. We also got an order of the fried spring rolls but found them crispy but rather ordinary tasting. We were also treated to a sample of kimchi but it too was very mild (my wife likes likes a nice, spicy kimchi). Good option for this part of Durham, and they seem to be doing well. Decor was pretty basic and modern and their background music leaned heavily into the "urban" part of their name: some pretty loud hip hop in various languages.
Delicious and the restaurant is so cute and the staff were friendly . I would go again anytime I'm in the area
Urban Noodle was an okay lunch spot. My friend and I split an order of the fried potstickers and I ordered the tonkotsu ramen. I was not a huge fan of the flavor profile of this ramen so I would order another one next time. The service was also a little slow. I'd return to try something else soon.
The service was amazing. The place clean. The FOOD - the FOOD - phenomenal I pray they only improve and never fall off. This is a GREAT PLACE. Atmosphere is a VIBE as well.
I came in here to get some dinner for 1 to go. I got an order of fried pot stickers and a spicy ramen. I prefer steamed pot stickers but they didn't seem to have that in the menu. There was no wait as I was the only person inside although they were working on orders for door dash and phone orders but even still I had maybe a 10 minute wait at most. It was very quiet as I waited, no TVs or anything like that inside making noise. For my tamen I got the spicy Malay ramen which was very good, very full of various toppings and meat etc. the broth had a good spicy heat as well. My only complaint would be they the ramen was pretty lemongrass heavy and I'm not a super big lemongrass fan but if you are you're gonna love it! read more

Urban has been on my list of places to try for quite some time and I finally made it! Let me tell you it did not disappoint! The location was great and the restaurant itself was cute with IG worthy background. The staff were patient, helpful, and really nice. I ordered the spicy beef rib soup with hand pulled noodles, you literally watch them make the noodles through a small window. The soup was hot and flavorful with a hint of spice. They are not stingy with the rib I got 3 big pieces and had some to take home. I also tried the Bang Bang bun. That was equally as tasty. The bun was soft m, shrimp was crispy and the cucumber added a nice crunch. I ordered the pickled radish but it wasn't my favorite. It wasn't bad but not what I'm use to when I think of pickled radish. Overall I t was worth the hype! read more

I stopped in late on a Friday to grab dinner. There are kiosks to order as well as being able to order live. I was about to place my order live as a group came back up to order, so I used the kiosk. Miced pork spicy noodle soup, with regular hand pulled noodles. I added extra bok choy as well. I take a spot and the food comes out in short order. It has a lot more peanuts and less pork than anticipated. The broth is quite delightful, with good level of heat. There didn't seem to be much in terms of extra bok choy, unfortunately. Overall it was a fine spot, if you're looking for noodles. read more

I travel a good bit for work so I tend to think that I eat out more than most people. Not going to disparage any other place but this is the best ramen in this area. Deep flavors, beautiful presentation. An actual gem. read more

Very disappointed with the self service kiosk. It does not allow you to skip the tip, and if you do not select an option it defaults to 10%. Isn't this illegal????? I ordered from an iPad and I have to put my own dishes away, there is no service to tip for. read more

I came here because it seemed similar to Ekiban here in Baltimore. Husband enjoyed his ramen bowl immensely. My steamed bun tacos were pretty good, but the chicken was a bit tough. The space was clean and roomy. Service a bit slow, and they were apologetic. Prices are reasonable for the fare. I would come here again were am in the area. read more
I've been dying to try this place since it opened. Finally, I got around to it and got some ramen to go! I had the Tonkotsu ramen. It was delicious. The broth was very flavorful, I could have that by itself, lol. The order was ready 5 minutes after I ordered and the staff was nice. It wasn't busy, I went on a Wednesday evening around 6pm. It's a cute place, next time I'll have to dine in. I'm not on that side of Durham often, and there wasn't too much over there that I frequent so if I back, it will just be for Urban Noodle! read more
I came here during their grand opening and had the tonkotsu ramen and pork bao. Tonkotsu ramen tasted great. It's better than most places I tried so far in Durham. Pork broth could use more flavor. My ramen came out warm and I prefer my ramen served hot. Rate 4.5/5 Pork belly bao was delicious. Bun was soft and bao was well stuffed. If anything, the pork could use more spices and bao served warm/hot. Rate 4/5 I appreciate that the food here less salty compared to most ramen places. I wish the food came out hot. Service is excellent. Staff was kind. There were plenty of seats available. This place is spacious and great for groups. Overall, I'd recommend Urban Noodle. read more

This Ramen restaurant but NEW and SO GOOD! The place is clean & nice! GREAT customer service! Fast & fresh! Highly recommend the Pork Belly Buns! First time trying them and 10/10! Got some to go! The young gentlemen LEON working was very kind, sweet & caring! Walked around asking how everything was to all customers! Will be coming back!!!! (: read more
Love, love, love! Went on a cold, rainy day when I just need a warm, comforting bowl of ramen and this was just the antidote!! I drank every last drop of the Chicken Curry ramen broth and it was fabulous. Delicious, rich, warming, slightly creamy and a bit of spice. The chicken was phenomenal too- I could tell they marinated it and it was packed with extra flavor. My husband ordered spicy miso ramen and thoroughly enjoyed his also. I think I've found my new go to ramen place!! Pro tip- this place gets packed at lunch on weekdays with tech teams from nearby offices so plan accordingly. read more
I was super excited to get ramen as my last meal in NC. I got the seafood ramen, Bang Bang Shrimp and Pork Belly Buns. For the ramen: I'm used to the quality of NYC/Philly so this ramen fell short for me. I'm not the biggest fan of clear broths but I won't have minded it. The thing is there wasn't much in my ramen seafood wise. Only two pieces of each, maybe four shrimp. None of it was seasoned and tasted just bland. The mussels were big which, nice, but that's all the plus I have for this meal. Bang bang shrimp: It had three shrimp covered in the sauce, arugula and cucumbers. I was expected a little something more to really make this a YUM experience but it was just okay. I didn't mind eating these. Pork Belly Buns: I actually wanted to come here because of someone's photo of them here on Yelp. I've had pork belly buns in Philly that I CRAVE and LOVE. Thought it would be fair to take a chance on these and sadly, another no. Actually one of the ones I wish I didn't order so many of. It similarly only has arugula and cucumbers as the fillings. The bun felt a bit hard to bite into (not a plush soft bun that I know and love). The pork leaned more tough to chew and lacked flavor. I wish I could've had a better experience here but unfortunately I didn't. This place feels very cookie cutter and doesn't really have anything special to offer in terms of quality or taste. I suppose I'll continue my journey for great ramen in NC another time. read more

The perfect place to get quick but still delicious ramen!! Boyfriend and I came in one evening (8:30ish) after procrastinating about making dinner- thanks to our laziness, we discovered this cute place! Even though there were only 3-4 people in the restaurant and the staff started preparing for closing, we still had a great experience and look forward to returning. Food: We ordered spicy mala ramen, tonkatsu ramen, and a side of the crispy chicken bun. They were all delicious, especially the spicy mala ramen they did an excellent job making beef bone broth & the beef, which offered a great option for a pork-based alternative! To be fair, this place is similar to Piada or Chipotle - I did not come in with the same expectation for gourmet ramen shops in Philly or NYC. That being said, they were really really good for the price and even tasted better than some of those places in big cities. Price: Super affordable for ramen, $13-14, and the portion sizes were decently big. The chicken bun is bigger than my hand! Ambiance: tidy and open space, reminding me of a "boba shop" version of chipotle. Service: The person helping us at the front was SO friendly and warm!! Unlike most of the order-front places, the server offered to go over the menu with us, offered specific recommendations before we even asked, and asked about food allergies. Our food was served quite fast! read more
The inside of the restaurant is quite casual with a nice mural and lit up sign that says "urban noodles" with the two n's used for a smiley face. My friends introduced me to this place since they usually come to get a quick fixing of ramen. I ordered the pork belly bun and it was a good size portion for one, although my friends told me they formerly served 2 for the same price (a bummer). The takoyaki was still very doughy and not cooked thoroughly. Whenever I took the initial bite out of it, it immediately started falling apart within my chopsticks. Hopefully they can adjust the cooking time to be more cooked thoroughly. The employee was very friendly and accommodating. He was the sole person working, checking people out, then making the food and serving it to the table. read more
We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The person taking our order was helpful letting us know the different types of ramen and what he recommends. You order at the bar and seat yourself while someone brings the food out to you. You're also expected to put your dishes away in a designated area. The ramen was flavorful. I had the spicy Mala ramen and it had the right amount of spice. Nothing too spicy. The potstickers were crunchy and came with a delicious dipping sauce. My BF throughly enjoyed his Shoyu ramen. read more
Imagine combining the aesthetic of a boba shop and a classic ramen bar and that's what urban noodles is all about. You order at the counter and the person at the register brings you your food. I ordered the mala spicy ramen and a chicken curry ramen with a fried chicken bun and a classic pork belly bun. Everything was extremely delicious and compares equally to other popular Ramen shops around the morrisville area. Definitely recommend the try! read more

I was very, very excited about this location. I am always on the lookout for a good local ramen joint and this one seemed like it had vegetarian options and at a decent price. There was easy parking and the restaurant had a cute and clean ambiance. The employees were nice but had you fill out a tip option for a meal that you order at the front for. From a vegetarian standpoint, the veggie ramen was incredibly bland. I added tofu to mine which cost an extra 3$. The textures were good on the noodles and veggies but the flavor was very lacking. The broth was essentially water. My friend got the tonkotsu ramen and reports the flavor at a 3.5/5 and overall was decent but not something to recommend. I will definitely try this place again to order the only other vegetarian option on the menu, hopefully it's more exciting than the veggie ramen option! read more

Give 3 stars.... Broth is good, noodle is good, chicken very hard. I never expected chicken curry ramen to come in with dry fried chicken (without breading). Very friendly service, but way too quiet for a new customer when they came in. No kids menu. Good atmosphere. Sweet tea is a bottle, not the one that is brewed by the store (so just be ready when you order). It's definitely not an authentic kind of place, but it's a convenient location (near highway). read more
