Salmon Sunrise
Cole D.

Very basic. Didn't love one of my proteins as string noodles. It's all healthy and well stocked. I'm super full. But it didn't really have much crazy flavor as it could. The proteins meh. The avocado was nice but hard to mash up and wasn't easy to divide. Nice service inside. Not much seating.

The West Side

Uptown Poke is a great lunch spot. It's clean, cute, and preposterously fast (our bowls came out literally seconds after ordering). Most importantly, the poké bowls are delicious. I opted for the West Side (when in Rome...). It delivered exactly what I was looking for. I felt fresher after eating it. The tuna was tender and flavorful, the veggies were crisp, the sauces and crunchy tempura came together in heavenly flavor and texture harmony. The matcha bubble tea was also delicious, not overly sweet. Much like my tasty salmon, I am hooked. There was not a ton of seating but my wife and I had no issues securing seats by a sunny window on a Sunday afternoon.

Had a takeout salmon sunrise bowl and was some of the best poke I've had in NYC. Well balanced flavors, plenty of fish, and quick service. Will order for takeout again.

Flavorful and delicious fish! I haven't stumbled upon lots of poke places in Manhattan (maybe because I haven't specifically searched for them), but this one was delicious! The kani salad was a bit too much mayo for me but the portion was pretty sizeable. The bowl was the highlight. I created my own bowl and the fish was plentiful and tasted fresh. Service was nothing stand out. You order your bowl using the menu and they make it in the back. That's the inconvenient part because you can't really see the options laid in front of you, which is different from most poke places I've eaten at. The store is on the smaller side, but has 2 tables in the back and window seats near the door.

Super fresh!

Very impressed! I'm typically disappointed in poke bowls here in NYC since I've had the best of the best on the islands. But I decided to give Uptown Poke a shot since it had such great Yelp reviews-- so glad I did! Ordered the "build your own bowl" in a large ($16) with the following combination of ingredients: Tuna, Kani, White Rice, Diced Mango, Cucumber, Pickled Ginger, Shiitake Mushroom, Jalapeño, Wasabi Sauce, Spicy Mayo, Fried Garlic Crisps & Scallions. What a crazy bunch of flavors that worked so well!!! I'm very impressed in the quality of tuna. No fibrous weird bits, it smelled incredible and melted in my mouth. Originally obsessed.

Such great poke! I had been craving poke for a while and Uptown Poke hit the spot. I would suggest getting one of their signature bowls if you're trying to save a little money $$. Most of them come with two (or even three) types of protein, which if you were building your own bowl, would be a lot more expensive. If you build your own bowl, one protein is $14.99 while two proteins is $17.99. Most of the signature bowls are $14.99 so it's definitely a steal in my opinion. I ordered the Salmon Sunrise bowl, which looked like one of their more popular options. It comes with salmon, tuna, kani, FREE avocado, edamame, and lemon. It is a HEFTY bowl! It also comes drizzled with sweet sauce and spicy mayo. I asked to swap the rice base for mixed greens to feel a little healthier. The mixed greens really make the bowl feel light! All of the ingredients were also insanely fresh, and the sauces mixed so well together. I do think they put a little too much sweet sauce in comparison to the spicy mayo. It almost seemed like 75/25 sweet sauce to spicy mayo when I would have preferred an even 50/50. Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints! I'm not in this area too often, but if I ever am, I'll definitely be popping back in.

I ordered the Salmon Sunrise bowl here, and absolutely loved it! The small size is already really filling and kept me going the rest of the afternoon. The salmon, tuna, and crab were fresh and flavorful, and there was a perfect balance of rice, edamame, and seaweed. The avocado serving was very generous! The tempura crunch and spicy mayo really complemented the bowl well, and the lemon garnish brought out the rest of the flavors. Can't wait to be back to try some of their other bowls! It's located right by Central Park, so I brought my meal over to a park bench on this warm summer day.

Taro Tea
Mosa H.

One of the better poke places in Manhattan. A two protein bowl costs around $18 but they load your bowl with toppings. I love the build your own bowl option but the specialty bowls seem good as well. I almost wish they gave a bit more rice but it's a great deal for the amount of fish you get. I would pass on the bubble tea. I got the taro milk tea, which was pretty foamy (for some reason) and the boba wasn't sweet or soft at all. I would definitely come back for the poke bowl, especially if I were on the UWS!

I love the quality of their ingredients! I order from them quite often! Never disappointed. They're always nice and show signs of appreciation for the costumers every time, like in the picture

One of the first handful of times of ordering takeout/delivery in the COVID era- As one who loves seafood/sushi, I was excited to try my first poke bowl since March (!?!?) and I believe the fish was fresh but the frozen/thawed kind. $14.99 for a small bowl (Salmon sunrise) Maybe more like 3.5 stars but I know the service industry is going through a lot of struggle right now. Perhaps, procuring fresh fish isn't feasible in today's Coronavirus world. I also thought the delivery/contactless method was effortless and I'm glad they are open! Would probably order again.

I love this place. It is consistently fresh and the portions are generous. They offer sauce on the side so that I can add the amount I want. The staff is friendly and they often add little smileys and hearts on my bag when I order takeout. They clearly care about their restaurant and it shows in the quality of the food and service.

Handwritten note :)
Rachel K.

Great delivery from Uptown Poke! Really appreciated the handwritten note on the bag and the cover for the bubble tea cup is so cute! Food was delicious and fresh. Be cautious when adding the garlic topping, they're very generous! I know a lot of people obsessed with garlic that would've been ecstatic but it was a bit too much for me. Looking forward to ordering again!

I went with 2 other ppl and we all got their Onigiri Combo, which was ~$16, and you get 2 onigiris, a miso soup, and a cup of their sides (edamame, sweet egg, pickled carrots). For my combo, I got a Sukiyaki Beef onigiri, which was my fave one, and a Salmon onigiri, which was fine, just a bit plainer than I'd like. But, I like that they added furikake seasoning throughout it to add flavor. I didn't care much for their sides - the egg was too sweet for my liking and the pickled carrots were too soft. I ordered an addtl Kinko (mushroom) onigiri bc I was quite hungry and it was alright. Def a lighter taste. Overall, a decent spot for a solid, reliable, good bite! Place is clean and service is friendly. There's a bathroom down a hallway that does the job. I'd come back for a meal that's great value!

The katsu was still crispy and while I don't normally care much for fried rice, the hawaiian fried rice was very good. The poke bowl was fresh with a good amount of fish and again, I loved all of the toppings and things that you can add for free (the avocado is extra). Both bowls were very tasty and good sized portions. It is a small Hawaiian place that serves fresh food. The owner is friendly. The portion size of the food is a lot, so you will definitely not get hungry. Below are a few items that I had tried: Sushi Taco - I typically get ahi tuna or salmon (both are always fresh) mixed with spicy mayo. Hawaiian BBQ Plate - you have the option to do 1 to 3 proteins with 2 sides. The proteins that I typically pick are chicken katsu, bulgogi beef, or grilled shrimp. The sides that I typically pick are seaweed salad, charred broccoli, and crabmeat salad. Poke Bowl - you can't go wrong with picking ahi tuna or salmon (assuming you have no issues eating raw food) as your protein. Gyoza - it is fried and crispy, and I would recommend this over the pork dumplings. Pork Dumplings - it is so-so. The skin on the dumplings is too thick. Spam Musubi - it's just spam meat & seaweed wrapped over rice. Nothing too special. Overall, give this place a try if you're ever around this area!

Unfortunately, this scallion pancake was kind of soggy. I ate it at a countertop at the front of the store, so it wasn't like I was carrying it in a takeout box and it got soggy over time. I wanted to like it, especially since it's got everything I like: scallion pancake, ahi tuna, salmon, veggies, all wrapped up into burrito form. But the soggy scallion pancake was kind of a letdown.

The portion wasn't small, but it certainly wasn't big. We were all still a little hungry after eating our bowls. Regarding my order, the goma shoyu tuna, the fish was good, but not great and for my bowl at least, I felt it was lacking in flavor. I did not taste any chili oil and the only real flavor present in the dish came from the seaweed salad. Chikarashi does not allow you to make your own poke bowl, which I feel is unfortunate. But if I had to choose between a bowl of ramen from a Japanese restaurant or this saimin, you can't pay me to choose the latter. It was like a whitewashed version of ramen, in which the broth had a vegetable flavor and not rich at all. The toppings were Naruto slices and bits of veggies. The katsu was ok but not memorable. We had loco moco from vert frais (jap French fusion eatery in LIC) recently, and that was so much better. The patty here was neither tender nor juicy. The sauce was pretty average but vert frais' was above average. I was really looking forward to the macaroni salad in the plate but they didn't give a lot (they piled it on some rice so it looked like more than it was).
