Rediscovery of a great local establishment - Borrillo's Pizzeria We've been to Borrillo's many times over the years and always had a great experience! Now that we've gone through the pandemic and nightlife is coming back, we are re-experiencing a fantastic local spot in St Augustine! Their outside Beer Garden has been expanded and upgraded and they are bringing in many of the great local St Augustine musicians - having music most nights of the week - as well as a karaoke night. The Beer Garden is a great place to enjoy the fresh air, food, drink, and great music! They also have dining options inside for those who prefer indoor accommodations. The food - as always - is still exceptional! They also have healthy options for those who are on certain diet restrictions. One new addition is the Cauliflower crust pizza on the menu - nice thin crust, and exceptional taste! Great options of appetizers, salads, Italian entrees, and a wide variety of pizza options. Of course good beer options and good selections of Italian wines available. This is one of the great "locals" hangout, as well as visitors coming through the area! The owners are usually always there and mingling in the crowds - sharing smiles and stories! For a fun night with music, great food and drinks, and an atmosphere of meeting great people, this is a must do in St Augustine! read more

Well worth the stop. The Margherita pizza wasn't exactly a Margherita pizza- it had two types of cheese, used sliced tomatoes instead of plum and had no fresh basil- but it was excellent in its own right. The crust was crisp and, considering the volume of people waiting, we didn't wait long at all. The salads on other tables looked fresh and green. It looked like they didn't use iceberg (I can't stand iceberg) but I didn't order one myself, so ask before you order if it matters. The girl taking orders, ringing up customers, delivering pizza, getting drinks and budding tables worked her butt off, and couldn't have been friendlier. If you're traveling, pizza is always a crap shoot. This got the job done, although you New Yorkies won't be happy. Just happened to find this little Jen while out sightseeing. We were so hungry and found the best pizza. We had a big antipasto salad which was big enough for 3 maybe 4 people, and a large plain pizza. There was nothing plain about it though. It was delicious!! Took the rest home and had it for breakfast. Will look forward to coming back again on our next trip down to Florida. Wait staff was nice and service was fast! Best pizza in St Augustine! read more

I can't even explain how good this pizza was one of the best and my very favorites! A slice is huge! Sauce is delicious and perfect amount! The guy in the back making the pizzas was very awesome and funny staff was so nice and kind! I will be back. Hands down beast Italian ever ! Authentic fires pizza and garlic knots. Best Stromboli ever !! At night it's dark lightening with the lights emitting from the light up signs on the window. It's calming and very relaxing. Hot food and even better to eat cold the next day for lunch !! Will come back again for sure. read more

I've been to several Italian restaurants throughout Florida and out of state as well and nothing compares to Borrillo's! I have been eating here for over 7 years, even after moving away, I come back her multiple times a year. I was saddened when I found out on a recent visit that they no longer have any eggplant items on their menu!! They had the BEST eggplant! I loved their eggplant hot sub, eggplant parmigiana & eggplant pizza!! Their pizza is really delicious too. I eagerly await for them to add eggplant back to their menu again!!!! Wow.... Was basically just told to leave. Wife and I plus our 2 kids (2 and 2months) walk into a packed house. One table available, one other customer at the counter picking up a to go order. We sit at the open table and are promptly told we can't sit there because some is waiting on the table. Who? No one else was standing and waiting and certainly not a family of 4. We were told to stand and wait while an empty table sat there. I don't think so. Up to this point we were once a week regulars. No longer. Epic fail. read more

This Pizzeria is awesome. Their pizza is fantastic! The prices are great and the pizza is even better. This pizza is a true New York style Italian thin crust pizza. The staff are friendly and nice. There was a steady stream of customers. This place rocks. Next time we go to Saint Augustine, this awesome pizzeria is on the first place we will go to eat. We have already recommended this restaurant to our friends in the Jacksonville area. Thank you for an awesome experience and great food! We had a medium cheese pizza. Borillo's used to be my go-to pizza joint in St. Augustine. Positioned right across the street from the Shrine, Borrillo's draws you in with a window-front that showcases their kitchen. I've seen my fair share of pizza tossing through that window. The restaurant itself doesn't seat more than 20, and the bathroom is a hike to get to, but the pizza is solid. Unfortunately, the rest of the food doesn't match up. The calzones I've had weren't too spectacular, but at the same time, I go to pizza joints for pizza, so I won't really fault them for that. Took almost 2 hours to get to our table. Food was good but not good enough for that wait. Then we were told we wouldn't be allowed to sit inside unless we were ok with them cleaning around all the tables. Women's bathroom light didn't work. Drinks were hella expensive. Two stars because the Calzone I had was quite good. If the food had not been redeeming I would have rated fewer stars. It took twenty-two minutes after I ordered before I received my tossed salad which consisted of lettuce, 2 slices of tomato and a piece of green pepper. After waiting thirty-five minutes for my calzone I asked if it was coming out soon. The attitude I got from the server may as well have been a slap in the face. This place is lame. What restaurant let's people in the door and get seated only to rudely tell them, "We're take out only now."? You're a restaurant. You're either open or you're closed. And, learn how to talk to people. The stank eye and the annoyed tone is how you lose customers. If you cook like you treat people and develop policy, we didn't miss anything. read more

Unfortunately, all three pizzas that we ordered were terrible, and not just because they included bland ingredients. The first issue we found was that we were obviously missing bacon on 2 of the 3 pizzas, which we paid extra for. I called them before even trying the pizza, and I was placed on hold for quite some time before they finally asked if I would like a refund for the missing toppings (obviously a very stupid question). No manager apology, no offer of replacements, and no concession beyond the $4 refund. I actually preferred replacement pizzas with the toppings we ordered, however we didn't want to wait another hour. After accepting the mediocre solution, we found that all of the pizzas were burned on the outer 30%, including the crust, and the centers were absolutely soggy as though they had water spilled on them...I mean soaked to where they were just falling apart. At this point, the consensus was that there was no way we would want replacements. We threw the pizzas in the garbage where they belong and elected to chalk it up as a bad experience. Will never eat here again, and would highly suggest ordering from one of the 2-3 other NY pizza restaurants that deliver to the St. Augustine area. I am leaving this negative review for 2 reasons: 1) they didn't seem to care about the smaller issue to make it right, so felt like an honest review was more important than requesting a refund and 2) they have one job to do...make an edible pizza. One bite everyone knows the rules: $2.25 for a slice, cheese. At first glance the pizza looks appetizing. But with closer examination I notice the small lake of grease that has formed on the top that will soon run like Niagara Falls. Hard New York flop because of said grease. One bite everyone knows the rules. Cheese, that is all I tasted. Too much cheese on the pizza and not enough sauce. The ratios are off and the pizza suffers from that. The crust was the shining star and had a nice crunch. Based on looks, I had decent hopes for this slice. But the combination of too much cheese, a grease lake, and MIA sauce has created a visit that will likely be the last. Overall, I believe that there are better slices to be had within Saint Augustine and that passing on this pizza is something you won't lose sleep over. 3.2/10 read more

I can't speak for the food because we didn't actually get to eat here. We were from out of town and had noticed this pizza spot the night before while getting ice cream in the area and thought we would try it the next day for lunch. We pulled in a little after 11 in the morning on a Sunday and realized they didn't open until 12. There was a truck next to us that looked to be unloading supplies and bringing them into the restaurant. We Sat there for another minute discussing what we wanted to do, decided we would walk around the area for a bit and come back at 12. We quickly changed our minds. As we were about to back up and pull out, the man unloading from the vehicle, who I would assume is an employee or possibly owner, comes back out and in a rude manner, to try to paint a picture, puts up his arms in a way to ask what we were doing there. My husband was about to roll down the window and confront him but I asked him not to. Certainly wasn't very welcoming and they lost our business. read more

Stopped in with family. Had a groupon and wanted to try it. they would not honor groupon. There was a sign on the door that said they not honoring groupons after Jan. 2019. Our was purchased in the fall of 2018. All we were told was the new owner had decided not to honor the deals. My daughter ordered a house salad and the house dressing was uneatable being almost all vinegar. The pizza was good but not great. The meatball sub was good but not worth $9.99. With the food being ok and the very bitter taste left from our groupon experience (first time we have had this happen in all the years we have used groupons) we will not be back. Best pizza in St. Augustine maybe even Jacksonville too. Trust me, its as close to NY style pizza as it gets. I've had pizza in both NYC and Long Island. They have a great value on the lunch special, two slices and a drink for less than $7. The place is small so around noon when it is crowded you might have to wait for a table/seat. Well I had been before a while ago and I thought it was pretty good but I just went back last night and I will never go back again I can tell you that! first of all this place is noisy which I understand sometimes... but this time it was deafening! It is very small and not many tables...The cashier was nice she gave me the special price for two slices and a drink, the sign said today's special and she tried to tell me it was for lunch only but then asked somebody else and they honored the price...unfortunately the pizza was horrible it was like flat cardboard,the dough didn't even rise properly, it wasn't cooked long enough and the topping was little tiny bits of tasteless sausage and canned mushrooms, even the diet pepsi didn't taste right...it was so loud in there I couldn't even try to eat it so I just put it in a bag and left. Best NY pizza you can get this far south! The ingredients are noticeably fresh and generous. Their specialty pizza includes pepperoni and sausage sandwiched in between two thin layers of melted mozzarella ... all topped with veggies. This little hole in the wall has some great food. I had a cold sub, borrillo's supreme and it was very flavorful. My wife had their slice of pizza and salad lunch special. The pizza is new York style and one piece covers the whole paper plate. My daughter had the chicken salad and loved it. The only thing I would ask for is to offer the cold subs as hot ones. I've been going here for years. It's changed owners a few times. The pizza is still as good as it was back in the day. They have a really good lunch combo that will fill you up. It's a small place but they do have their own parking so yay. It's definitely worth stopping by if your in the area. read more
