Well worth the stop. The Margherita pizza wasn't exactly a Margherita pizza- it had two types of cheese, used sliced tomatoes instead of plum and had no fresh basil- but it was excellent in its own right. The crust was crisp and, considering the volume of people waiting, we didn't wait long at all. The salads on other tables looked fresh and green. It looked like they didn't use iceberg (I can't stand iceberg) but I didn't order one myself, so ask before you order if it matters. The girl taking orders, ringing up customers, delivering pizza, getting drinks and budding tables worked her butt off, and couldn't have been friendlier. If you're traveling, pizza is always a crap shoot. This got the job done, although you New Yorkies won't be happy. Of course, you never are, really, when it comes to pizza south of Jersey. ;-) read more

Took almost 2 hours to get to our table. Food was good but not good enough for that wait. Then we were told we wouldn't be allowed to sit inside unless we were ok with them cleaning around all the tables. Women's bathroom light didn't work. Drinks were hella expensive. Two stars because the Calzone I had was quite good. If the food had not been redeeming I would have rated fewer stars. It took twenty-two minutes after I ordered before I received my tossed salad which consisted of lettuce, 2 slices of tomato and a piece of green pepper. Wow.... Was basically just told to leave. Wife and I plus our 2 kids (2 and 2months) walk into a packed house. One table available, one other customer at the counter picking up a to go order. Borillo's used to be my go-to pizza joint in St. Augustine. Positioned right across the street from the Shrine, Borrillo's draws you in with a window-front that showcases their kitchen. I've seen my fair share of pizza tossing through that window. The restaurant itself doesn't seat more than 20, and the bathroom is a hike to get to, but the pizza is solid. Unfortunately, the rest of the food doesn't match up. The calzones I've had weren't too spectacular, but at the same time, I go to pizza joints for pizza, so I won't really fault them for that. Their beer selection is actually pretty good for such a tiny joint. read more

I have been eating here for over 7 years, even after moving away, I come back her multiple times a year. I was saddened when I found out on a recent visit that they no longer have any eggplant items on their menu!! They had the BEST eggplant! I loved their eggplant hot sub, eggplant parmigiana & eggplant pizza!! Their pizza is really delicious too. I eagerly await for them to add eggplant back to their menu again!!!! Unfortunately, all three pizzas that we ordered were terrible, and not just because they included bland ingredients. The first issue we found was that we were obviously missing bacon on 2 of the 3 pizzas, which we paid extra for. I called them before even trying the pizza, and I was placed on hold for quite some time before they finally asked if I would like a refund for the missing toppings (obviously a very stupid question). No manager apology, no offer of replacements, and no concession beyond the $4 refund. I actually preferred replacement pizzas with the toppings we ordered, however we didn't want to wait another hour. After accepting the mediocre solution, we found that all of the pizzas were burned on the outer 30%, including the crust, and the centers were absolutely soggy as though they had water spilled on them...I mean soaked to where they were just falling apart. At this point, the consensus was that there was no way we would want replacements. We threw the pizzas in the garbage where they belong and elected to chalk it up as a bad experience. Will never eat here again, and would highly suggest ordering from one of the 2-3 other NY pizza restaurants that deliver to the St. Augustine area. I am leaving this negative review for 2 reasons: 1) they didn't seem to care about the smaller issue to make it right, so felt like an honest review was more important than requesting a refund and 2) they have one job to do...make an edible pizza. But with closer examination I notice the small lake of grease that has formed on the top that will soon run like Niagara Falls. Hard New York flop because of said grease. The crust was the shining star and had a nice crunch. Based on looks, I had decent hopes for this slice. But the combination of too much cheese, a grease lake, and MIA sauce has created a visit that will likely be the last. Overall, I believe that there are better slices to be had within Saint Augustine and that passing on this pizza is something you won't lose sleep over. 3.2/10 read more

I can't speak for the food because we didn't actually get to eat here. We were from out of town and had noticed this pizza spot the night before while getting ice cream in the area and thought we would try it the next day for lunch. We pulled in a little after 11 in the morning on a Sunday and realized they didn't open until 12. There was a truck next to us that looked to be unloading supplies and bringing them into the restaurant. We Sat there for another minute discussing what we wanted to do, decided we would walk around the area for a bit and come back at 12. We quickly changed our minds. As we were about to back up and pull out, the man unloading from the vehicle, who I would assume is an employee or possibly owner, comes back out and in a rude manner, to try to paint a picture, puts up his arms in a way to ask what we were doing there. My husband was about to roll down the window and confront him but I asked him not to. Certainly wasn't very welcoming and they lost our business. read more

Stopped in with family. Had a groupon and wanted to try it. they would not honor groupon. There was a sign on the door that said they not honoring groupons after Jan. 2019. Our was purchased in the fall of 2018. All we were told was the new owner had decided not to honor the deals. My daughter ordered a house salad and the house dressing was uneatable being almost all vinegar. The pizza was good but not great. The meatball sub was good but not worth $9.99. With the food being ok and the very bitter taste left from our groupon experience (first time we have had this happen in all the years we have used groupons) we will not be back. However, we got a bad feeling there, from the food that was put out, the lighting, the atmosphere, and the staff. We left and dropped in at Borrillo's instead, and are very happy that we did! This casual eatery screams homemade and appears to be family run, the owner was there, and everyone who works there seems happy. Borillos has been a favorite of ours for a few years now. We ordered about 2 months ago and were surprised to find the portion sizes had gone way down for the stromboli and calzone, and the garlic knots weren't as good. We realize everyone has a bad day, so we decided to try again. We ordered for delivery again tonight and when the gal told us the total, we asked about the prices because we came up with a total about $5 less than what she told us. Apparently the prices had gone up a dollar or two for each of the items we ordered. I asked for a new menu to be sent with our order so I could be better prepared next time. I ordered 2 hot sandwiches and a stromboli, it came to $35 & change. I asked if the stromboli was a decent size as it had gone up $2 in price, she said it was. I also asked for a small container of marinara sauce. When our order came, it was nice and hot. We didn't get a new menu. One sandwich was very good, but they didn't send the sauce. The other sandwich was a bit chintzy, small meatballs and barely any sauce, but tasty. The big disappointment was the stromboli. It was smaller than the last time and not very full. Overall, there are so many Italian restaurants in this town that give a decent portion for a fair price, that it seems like Borillos didn't think it through when raising their prices while skimping on the food. Locals like us are very loyal to places who consider their customers. Seems like they are only thinking of the tourists who don't know any better. Or maybe that was their only option after the 2 hurricanes so close together caused them enough of a loss to do this. Since we didn't get a new menu, we won't be ordering without knowing how much the items are, and we'll be going to the other 3 or 4 places that are more fair in the prices for what is offered. read more

Well I had been before a while ago and I thought it was pretty good but I just went back last night and I will never go back again I can tell you that! first of all this place is noisy which I understand sometimes... but this time it was deafening! It is very small and not many tables...The cashier was nice she gave me the special price for two slices and a drink, the sign said today's special and she tried to tell me it was for lunch only but then asked somebody else and they honored the price...unfortunately the pizza was horrible it was like flat cardboard,the dough didn't even rise properly, it wasn't cooked long enough and the topping was little tiny bits of tasteless sausage and canned mushrooms, even the diet pepsi didn't taste right...it was so loud in there I couldn't even try to eat it so I just put it in a bag and left.
