Had a poor experience selling here. Left my clothes to be sorted through and came back an hour later - they 'hadn't got to it' 'because things got crazy.' In their defense, they did let me know that they give priority to people who stayed in the store rather those who left the premises while sorting. However, once I let them know I was back in the store I waited another hour although they told me it would be 25 minutes. It seems like the store was understaffed and those who were there were working on other things besides customer service. read more

They have some awesome stuff and at a good price, lots of bang for my buck! I came in trading some clothes as I was wanting some new pieces for my closet. I looked online and read what types of things they buy- styles, brands, prints, etc. Sadly, when I brought in some clothes, they only took my stuff from places like Forever 21and H&M; they left my Banana Republic, Diesel, Express, Mavi, J Crew and other brands and items that met their requests. Not a big deal, but thought it odd. The prices they pay isn't too great, but for trade in on top of their low prices makes it a deal! The staff was nice, the wait time was ridiculous, like 2 hours though. Since the store has a lot in it, you can actually spend that amount of time in there. The bummer part was they didn't have any badass or cute shoes in my size. Better luck next time! read more

I had a very positive experience at this Murray location. I have been to other Uptown Cheapskate locations in the SLC area and have had negative experiences, not so with the Murray location. They were efficient, honest, and friendly. It's more of a drive for me to get there, but totally worth it for the quality customer service I receive. read more

Brought in 2 trash bags of clothing I usually just take to the D.I. to the Sugar House location, and got a bad bitchy attitude and an offer of 12.00. The same day took my bags to this location same stuff and all and made 62.00. The Murray location knows what brands are and what to pay out for them. Love this store love the energy, the passionate employees to help me find great items like MICHAEL KORS watch I bought. If you have good items take them here. I work at the rack in Sugar House and will drive 20 extra minutes to get treated right and paid out a real quote over being insulted twice at the Sugar House Location. read more

The last time I was there the manager was so nice and he was very welcoming but I literally feel like I had one of the worst experiences today. He wasn't there but some other associates were. First of all I wasn't greeted and there was two people ahead of me and I stood there with my heavy bag. Literally all the associates did was just stare at me and then ignore me. A, "Hey you should check in, leave the bag here" or even "give us a moment" would be nice. After 5 whole minutes of standing there another customer just cuts in front of me and then decides to sign in on the computer thing. None of the associates said anything and went ahead and just took her stuff first without even telling me a thing. Not even acknowledging the fact I've been waiting there. After 40 minutes of waiting for them to go through my stuff, they decided to buy nothing and said "we couldn't style anything in there so yeah we'll put those back". I understand they buy based on trends but even if they would've picked at least one thing out of that bag (which I had branded and stylish things) I would've felt like my 40 minutes wasn't wasted. Considering some of the things they already had in store that were seriously not appealing to the eye, I was shocked that they didn't even grab a thing from my bag. I've sold here so many times and this has yet to be the first experience where they picked nothing. Once I got to the cash wrap to check out my stuff the associate genuinely seemed like she had a bad day or something because she could've at least asked me if I wanted a bag instead of just sliding the clothes towards me and walking off to task. Definitely not visiting this location anymore and could say service at the other locations are much more accommodating to customers. I've worked in retail all my life and understand how it works and have yet to write a bad review about an experience but this has got to be the first! read more

I've never tried selling clothes before but I thought I would give it a shot. I came in with a lot of good stuff, like 2 brand new dresses with tags, never used Sperrys, leather boots, a JCrew sweater, etc. It took 20 minutes to decide how much they would give me for the items I brought (but I wasn't allowed to give input) and then they called me up and said they would offer me $75 for 16 items. It was a good chunk of money but still wasn't what I was expecting. I guess that's just what they can offer. However I was impressed with the cleanliness of the store and the organization of the clothes. Color-coded, item sorted, and it didn't make me feel overloaded (lol). I would probably come back here if I didn't sell big ticket brand name items, just stuff like from Forever 21 and such. Not too bad for a first experience though, I would say :) read more

I love Uptown Cheapskate! However I haven't had great experiences at this specific location. I usually feel like I am putting the employees out and I had a not so pleasant girl who gave my items back that they didn't buy. My shoes were randomly sitting on some counter and I asked if they were mine and she answered rudely uh yeah.. and shoved them towards me. When I inquired as to why some items hadn't been bought she rather irritatedly answered she wasn't the one who went through my items and walked off. REAL GEM. read more

I would not recommend selling here. I brought in 4 bags of clothes, they offered me $30 which isn't the issue. Told me I could come back to pick it up whenever. When I came back a week later they then informed me I had to pick the cash up that day. And no longer could get my cash. Awful service. Awful business and tacky clothes. This location has a great selection of clothes, however I have found that some of them are definitely overpriced. For example, I have found several t-shirts from H&M, Forever 21, Old Navy, and other "fast fashion" brands that usually sell their items for cheap brand new. UC sells these for about 9.99 used, which I find a bit silly. This location has bought a good chunk of clothing from me. The first time I came, I brought some more "fast fashion" type items, which they bought several of. I want to say they bought 13 items from me and it added up to about $40ish. I went in later and sold some newer, name brand (Aritzia, Everlane, Frew People) items (some with tags still attached) and they bought 10 items for $30. That just didn't add up to me. You would think I would have gotten significantly more of an offer for these top notch brands, so I was definitely disappointed. I'm moving though and have to get rid of my clothes so I took what I could get. I get that they still have to make money, but there should be some consistency when it comes to buying inventory. Again, it's a great store, I love shopping here, just think they could use some uniformity. read more

Absolutely amazing experiences shopping and selling here. All the products are very reasonably priced and in good condition. There is a wide variety of brands and styles of clothing, but it is all very current and I am always able to find what I'm looking for. The employees are very helpful and friendly and they go out of their way to help you find exactly what you are looking for. Many of them are very knowledgeable about the products which makes shopping much easier. When selling here, the employees are very good at pricing and will explain to you why they cannot take certain items or why they are paying out a certain amount for your items to ensure that you understand the process and don't feel like you are getting cheated. If I could give this store less than one star, I would! I have shopped at this store before without a problem. I'd never had a great experience but hadn't had a bad one either, and so when I found myself in a position that I was in need of a little extra cash, I loaded up quite a few items of my clothing and took it to the store to sell. I made sure that I gathered items that are listed on their website such as designer jeans (Miss Me & Rock Revival), skirts (Guess, Miss Me & AE), dresses (nice dresses) and then I gathered shirts that had been purchased at H&M, A Eagle, Aeropostale and Forever 21 (MOST HAVE NEVER BEEN WORN), a Prague purse and then some other items that were University of Utah attire whether sweatshirts, yoga pants or t-shirts. After getting to the store at 6:05pm and being told I would have a 2 hour wait, which I understood, they called my name and told me they were not buying anything from my bin because it was not what they were looking for. She pulled out a pair of my heels and said they weren't taking open toed heels, another pair of heels had a zebra print and she said they don't take zebra print items. She then grabbed one of the tops from the dresses, and said it was stained... at the time I was mortified because I noticed people walking by listening to her and I wondered if I overlooked some kind of stain but upon returning home and looking at the top, there was not a stain!!!! After she told me the things I just mentioned, she went on to say my items were not stylish and so they didn't want them. I was really caught off guard by the ongoing remarks or excuses as to why they weren't buying anything, while other shoppers were nearby listening and watching. I could have understood if I were arguing with her or disputing their decision, but I wasn't. I am well aware that it's their choice whether or not they want to buy the items and they didn't owe me a thing, so I definitely would have been just fine without any explanation. When she was done talking...I couldn't grab the big ol' heavy bin of clothes fast enough and get out to my car and away from the store. I will never return to this store again and I would recommend you save yourself the experience as well. I know for myself that I was already feeling pretty down in the dumps due to my current situation and just the fact that I am struggling a little right now in my life, had my self-esteem pretty low and this definitely didn't help me feel any better! I wouldn't have been so hurt or shocked if I hadn't gathered items they claim on the website to want but walking in I felt confident that the items wouldn't be a waste of time for anyone but turns out that I was wrong. On the bright side, I came home and took pictures of all the items and they are available on OfferUp app for anyone interested. Turn lemon into lemonade, right? read more

I tried to sell some clothes here today, and had a few minutes to look around while they looked over my clothes. The aisles aren't really labeled so you have to sort of wander around to find what you are looking for. I got the feeling I wasn't cool enough to be there. A lot of very nice shoes. Most of the clothes were small or extra small so there wasn't a lot for plus sized (see: normal sized) women. This store is exactly between your run of the mill thrift store and a retail store, in both selection and price. Its a nice in-between option for people looking to save some money. read more

Although this is a "thrift store" I did notice they call it a "fashion exchange" which is great. They have great brands, a nice selection, and the clothes are in good shape. The prices are also great. I bought a black Loft dress to wear to a Christmas party that looked almost new for 17.00 along with a silver scarf. $20 total and I am ready for my company party! My favorite thing about shopping there is the staff. They are all very friendly and make you feel like you are shopping at a high end store. While I was in the dressing room trying on clothes I overheard my favorite employee Nicolas helping a customer match clothing to put together the "perfect outfit." He kept racing back and forth bringing in new items to this customer. He was a lot a personal shopper and seemed to love his job. How often do you get that at a thrift store?
