Customer Experience Feedback - Nordstrom Fashion Place Mall On July 26, 2025, I had the pleasure of meeting Misty, a sales representative at the Nordstrom store in Fashion Place Mall, Salt Lake City. From the moment we met, Misty was an absolute delight--warm, engaging, and professional. The sales team had just completed a beautiful new display of high-end handbags, and Misty approached me with perfect timing, asking if I'd like a closer look. Naturally, I said yes. We connected instantly. I shared with her that I've owned several YSL and Louboutin bags and had never seen such a selection at this location before. Our conversation flowed effortlessly, and it made my shopping experience that much more enjoyable. I ultimately purchased a stunning white Christian Louboutin handbag. Misty asked if she could stay in touch regarding future events or arrivals, and I happily agreed. I also mentioned I was looking for a specific belt featured in the Anniversary Sale book. While it turned out to be a misprint (the AllSaints belt was unavailable), another associate joined us and helped search online until we found what I was looking for. The collaboration was outstanding. Fast forward to the following week--Misty sent me a Nordstrom text message with screenshots of some newly arrived YSL bags. One caught my eye immediately: a gorgeous green bag. As a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated--the first sorority founded by African-American women in the United States--pink and green are especially meaningful to me. On Saturday, August 2, my husband and I returned to Nordstrom. I made my way back to the handbag section and asked to speak with Misty. Though she was with another customer, a different associate kindly helped me take a closer look at the green bag. Once Misty was available, she came right over, and we picked up right where we left off--chatting about the bag, its details, and how perfect it was. And yes, I bought it--two luxury bags in one week! Misty once again provided exceptional service: patient, knowledgeable, and proactive. When she needed help to complete the transaction, she quickly got the assistance required to make the process seamless. I will absolutely continue to ask for Misty whenever I shop at Nordstrom. Such a strange experience trying their app pickup for the first time. I paid $200 for my item and went to Nordstrom a little over an hour later to pick it up. However, they told me it was not ready yet and I would have to wait and it would take 2 to 3 hours. So I asked if I could just cancel the order and go to the shoe department and buy my boots, but they said they were unable to cancel the order at that time. She tried to explain some complicated system about how I would have to go buy the boots, then come back upstairs and then get a refund. So I went downstairs and this amazing person named Sage found the boots and walked me back upstairs. I paid for the boots and asked for a refund of my online order. But -- that was not possible. Apparently, I could not cancel the order until it had been fulfilled. However, I purchased the last pair of these boots in this size, so it would not have been possible for them to fulfill the order anyway. But they said they couldn't cancel it, couldn't give me a refund, and another person stopped by the desk to tell me they "couldn't expedite the fulfillment." I tried to explain that at this point, I did not need my order fulfilled because I was holding my boots in my hand, but he said there was absolutely nothing they could do. Honestly, the in-app ordering process at most grocery stores is much simpler than this. Two hours later and I'm still waiting in the cafe so I don't have to drive back tomorrow. I love my boots and Sage was so helpful or this would be a one-star experience. Such a disappointment. read more

I had the absolute best shopping experience at Nordstrom's in Murray. The sales associate, Clara, was especially sweet and generous! She introduced me to some of her favorite perfumes and gave me a wide variety of samples, some pre-made, and some custom-made. The sales associates in the men's department were nice too, but Clara definitely stood out! Nordstrom is currently price matching, so the discount off my Tiffany&Co Love was an unexpected bonus! I've shopped Nordstrom for decades. I've been to the major stores in large markets and the all ones in Utah since they opened, including the ones that closed in Orem and Crossroads. For a number of years, this store suffered in comparison to downtown. That is no longer the case. I've been very happy shopping here. The original review says I don't shop Nordstrom much. Then I started thinking about that. It really has been integral to finding quality clothing in my lofe. As with all the stores, our dog is welcome, and the service is stellar. My wife was looking for some clothing items that just needed to be fit properly. She was thinking she would go online. I said this would be better. She brought me everything that I needed into my fitting room and assisted in deciding what was the best option. The fitting room was clean and comfortable. Well just find any staff there and they will be able to point you to the right direction or even be the expert in that thing you're looking for. Their cosmetic section is really great. You do get to try all the different cosmetic and also have a specialist that can give you a make over. Want to try new products? Get free samples before you commit to it. Honestly Nordstrom offers so many different things. They offer shoe shining, shoe fitting (esp if one feet is bigger than the other), shoe tying lessons, and food. I'm sure you're familiar with Nordstrom. This location is my choice for shopping in the valley. My friends and I have both noticed that employees at the City Creek location seem less inclined to be helpful (which is ridiculous for Nordys). I frequent the makeup and women's accessories counters here, and have always been pleased with the service I receive. I love that I can make returns, no questions asked. The interior is lovely, and never looks dated. I've attended their holiday parties the last two years and they do a great job (although 2015 beat 2016). I also love their café (you can read about my love of their fries in that review). All in all, if you're shopping at Nordy's in Utah this is your best bet. read more

When I first started shopping at Nordstrom, I HATED it. Most of the sales people wouldn't help me and I would have to ask for them to help me. Don't you want sales? After a couple years went by, I started to slowly shop at this location here and there. I never spent my time in there though. It was always a quick in and out. That was until I started working with the Beauty Stylist, Christine. Christine is so patient, kind, and I can tell she isn't just selling me stuff for commission. She's a Beauty Stylist for a reason. I actually love shopping with her and I feel so important went I do. She literally makes me feel like I'm a local celebrity. My most recent visit to see Christine was last week where she helped me find a birthday gift for my friend. She showed me items that were very similar to his style when I showed her pictures of him. I could tell she was taking her time and sincerely thinking of what my friend would like. I love that about her. The bad I was told my suit would be ready early Saturday. It was not. I called as it got later in the day and I was told it was ready around 2 pm. I drove all the way to the store and waited... The ugly After waiting for some time, I was told the suit was not ready (so they lied?). I was asked 3-4 times if someone told me it was ready. Really? You think I'd just pop in? Ultimately, I was told it was not ready and I'd need to return later. The girl said, "we will put a rush on it." Yeah...sure let's go for a third lie. This was disappointing and unprofessional. A total waste of time. I ended up canceling one of my suits to avoid this fiasco again. I'd recommend going elsewhere to buy anything needing alterations. read more

Nordstrom is the place to go when you want well-fitting, high-end clothing or cosmetics, none of that yucky mall shopping experience (despite being in a convenient mall like Fashion Place), and upper-class customer service. Seriously, they make you feel like a million bucks (even if you're ordinary like me.) This is not the place for junior highers to spend their allowance money, or a place to go if you want clothes/makeup dirt cheap. Nothing is priced too much above its value (i.e. makeup counter prices are the same as Macys' or online) but they also have a lot of high-end designer lines. These are the highlights: - Ambiance - As soon as you walk in the door, you forget you're in a mall. It smells good, the floors are shining, there is space to breathe in between the racks so you can actually see the products, it's quiet. Unlike every other bathroom in the mall, this one is sparkling and has a couch. The dressing rooms aren't filthy and covered in hair and pieces of threads - they are super clean and each have a different themed decor with plenty of 3-way mirrors. Came here with my husband once to try on suits, and the men's dressing room has extra dress shoes to try them on with. The lighting still isn't super flattering, but I think that's a dressing-room given. - Excellent customer service: Seriously, gold star, over-the-top ratings, people. You never have to wander around looking for a sales associate because they make sure you're taken care of - here, let me take those clothes and start a dressing room for you with your name on it; let me make sure I check on you and of course I'll grab you another size or a white tee to try on with it (and I'm also juggling other customers and the register and phone.) Taryn was my angel when I recently had to do the dreaded jeans overhaul and needed to try on a thousand pairs of jeans because I am a mom now and don't know my size. She did all those things I mentioned above and without even breaking a sweat. I also frequently buy my makeup here because their counters are so much less crowded and stressful and they'll patiently sit with you until you get exactly what you want - one of the gals found me my perfect shade of powder foundation after I struggled with finding one to match my athletic tan in the summer. The lady helping my husband find a suit sized him up perfectly before he even tried one on (versus another department store in the same mall where we couldn't even find someone in the department to help us). They're good. - Perks - If you need something altered, they provide basic alterations ON THE HOUSE (essential for me who struggles to ever find pants that are the correct length). They will measure you on the spot in the dressing room and you can pick it up a few days later. Seriously, even those these jeans are a bit pricey compared to the other off-the-rack stores at the mall, if you add in alterations at a tailor, you probably save money or come out about even by shopping here instead. And then you'll be wearing tailored clothes, which look like you spent a fortune (but were free! No credit card or account needed, though you do get a larger tailoring credit if you sign up for their store credit card.) I will always come here when I'm in a shopping quandary and don't want to buy $20 jeans that will fall apart in 9 months, or when I want to feel pampered just for buying routine face wash. read more

I mean.. it's Nordy's. So you probably already know what you're getting yourself into when you go there. But in case you don't, know that most often you're going to have to bring the bucks. Most of the time you'll probably get what you pay for. That pendulum swings both ways. I've seen stuff priced lower than I expected on a few rare occasions, but I've also seen stuff that was priced higher than it really should have been. Not as a function of price, but more a function of quality. I get that the place is high price/high quality, but when I don't feel like the quality is there it feels a little like being duped. This is, by all measurements, a good looking store. They don't cut too many corners on design. And I've seen it remodeled a few times over the years, so it doesn't ever get too ghetto. I guess for me, though, I'd rather scale it back a notch on everything and trim up a few costs. I'm not after discount stuff--I can find that elsewhere and usually try to avoid it. But I don't do much shopping at Nordstrom, either, because it's just a little too far away on the other side of that spectrum. Oh, and lots of fresh kicks. read more

This is a good Nordstrom store with a very good selection and is always fun to browse when visiting the Fashion Place mall. I think most people realize that this is one of the pricier department store chains, but it is possible to find some good bargains from time to time and it's generally on better quality stuff than you will find at most other major stores. The mens clothing section is particularly good, and usually my main reason for visiting a Nordstrom in the first place. I have a suit I bought here quite a number of years ago that primarily I bought for job interviews or major business occasions where I need to really dress up, but I've also used it for quite a number of special occasions also and it's just as good as when it was brand new. The quality and look really gives you that extra boost of confidence. I've also bought plenty shirts for business from here over the years also, and these also seem to last very well compared to cheaper options from elsewhere. At the end of the day, you always have to weigh up longevity against cost, and I've certainly found odd brands of more casual clothing that don't really measure up for the price being asked and for those kind of things I will generally hit the outlet malls instead, but for formal or work wear Nordstrom is hard to beat. Service wise, I've always found it to be very friendly and helpful. Add to this the fact the store is always very tidy, is well organized and laid out, and also very bright and inviting and you've got a great experience even if all you end up doing is having a quick browse around in the hope of finding some great deal. read more

I went into the mall today to look at cosmetics I was wandering through on my way to Sephora just passing through the Nordstrom beauty department. I saw a huddle of employees talking so I just looked at products not wanting to bug them when Brooklynn came out of I think their back room and asked if I had any questions and if I'd like to try anything. I told her I was on my way to Sephora and complimented her eyeliner she was so sweet and asked if I would like her to do some on me. I was so surprised I was like "umm yes please" she quickly sat me down and not only did my eyeliner but ended up doing pretty much a whole face. She is such a doll and went above and beyond. I really appreciated her time and how special she made me feel I will definitely shop at Nordstrom again because she gave me such great servic. read more

Good and classy store with great ambience, crowd and of course topped with great customer service but thats about it. The products whilst interesting seems a bit overpriced, i mean the pricing seems not just restricted to being a function of quality but also as a function of brand. I get that but seems a little bit higher than what i would have assumed is the average i can expect from a brand of nordstorms value. I think brand should play a part as in any business in pricing because the brand value is there for a reason which is usually associated with quality and customer service and nordstorm does not seem to lack in it or style but it does sell the regular stuff too and still seems priced higher for those stuff ie clothes i might find elsewhere for a lower price. This is where i feel a bit of level setting and price segmentation needs to be done by nordstorm to be able to help expand its customer base and reach beyond maybe the fashion conscious and elite few. Nordstorm would do well to include supply and demand as a function whilst pricing its products instead of seemingly weighting it more towards brand. Quality needs to demand its price , no real complaints here but using it as a vehicle to increase brand pricing is something i think can be possibly revisited. However you do find classy and unique products including nordstorms own brand and good options especially in footwear for women but again if you are planning to shop here, would recommend to go in with the bucks or you might find yourself a bit surprised when you see the bill :). PS: The in house restaurant and cafe at entrance of store are good and a strategic way of pulling in customers mainly impulse buyers who might come in for a coffee but end up buying something from store on impulse, having initially entered the store to just have a look around. Nordstrom customer service has really declined. I tried to exchange a toddler jacket my mother in law sent to my daughter. It was unopened with a receipt. The sales associate was dumber than a door knob. Instead of exchanging the item she retuned it. When she realized her mistake she just stared at the computer screen instead of getting help. This one, although better than City Creek is still not great with customer service. You walk in there and get completely ignored by sales people who are wrapped up in huddles. I work in car sales and if I behaved the way Nordstrom sales do I'd get written up immediately, not to mention sell absolutely nothing. No smiles when you pass by, no wave, no hi welcome in or have you been helped? And then you seek out the help and they're absolutely reluctant to get it taken care of. I needed to bring in my slacks I ordered on Nordstrom online for alterations. After going to three desks I finally found someone willing to help. She called down the alterations guy who took 20 minutes. I don't have 20 minutes to sit there and wait on someone to come down and measure my pants. Disappointed by that. I was going to have someone help me find a shirt that would look nice with those pants, but everyone was either huddling or giving rude looks rather than smiles. I'll just keep ordering things online at this pace. The only reason to go to a Nordstrom over ordering online is customer service. But it's lacking what it used to be at that location. I don't understand why it takes 5 people 20 minutes to get me a tailor to put a hem on my $230 pants I bought at Nordstrom. read more

This is a nice little Nordstrom in Fashion Place Mall. It doesn't have many stand out features from any other Nordstrom other than it is quite new, completed in 2009. They have a coffee bar on the mall side entrance and a cafe on the second floor. They have a generous return policy. The best time to go is when they have a sale. read more

I am no longer a fan of Nordstrom's, particularly this and the City Creek locations. They have become a shop that caters only to the "skinny girl", reducing the options for plus size and expanded sizes. Case in point - I have always bought my extended calf size boots at Nordstrom's and this year they had 1 option in store and I was told I had to shop online "for special sizes." The brands they stock are not exclusive, mostly, and i can get them elsewhere with better treatment and respect. read more

This Nordstrom's location is really disappointing. I came here to look for a few brands my normal local Nordstrom's carries and this place doesn't carry any of them!!! Their premium designer goods selections are really terrible and basically carry close to none. They only had 3 or 4 pairs of designer shoes in total in the entire women's shoe department. Also didn't carry amore pacific, sulwhasoo, la labo, diptyque etc in the beauty department. In hindsight this is probably just not a very fashion forward, popular location to shop at. 2 stars. Overall, this is a really great Nordstrom location. They carry a good mix of high end brands, and as far as I know along with City Creek, is the only company in Utah that carries Kate Spade clothing. They usually have a reliable variety of sizes in most departments, although I have on occasion been disappointed with their bra and intimates selection. However, I once inquired via Twitter if they might waive overnight Saturday shipping fees for me to get what I needed for a weekend trip and they graciously accommodated me. The lingerie department ladies are always very sweet and friendly and have a sense of humor that is really welcome. I've had so-so luck with service in the high end clothing section when purchasing Burberry and Kate Spade, which seems really illogical since that's where customers spend the most on a single item. On the first day of the last Anniversary sale, I was stood up for an hour by an employee who told me she would come in at 10 am for a shopping appointment with me, then arrived around 10:45, telling me she never said she'd come in early, which was needless to say, really disappointing and unnecessary. I have avoided working with that individual since then. I will continue to shop at this location as long as I live in Salt Lake City. read more

Fabulous! I used to have a shopping problem. No really, I think I temporarily mistook shopping high for real happiness although many people would probably argue that it is true happiness. No ifs, ands, or buts, shopping is fun. I'd like to still have a shopping problem but my mortgage likes to fight with my need for new shoes. This Nordstrom is particularly great. They represent who Nordstrom aspires to be. The store is well kept, bright, and current. My most recent happy experience related to shoes. Nordstrom has awesome shoe salesman. Yes, I like to be left alone when shopping and sometimes they're too helpful (they back off once I say I'm fine) but this can also pay off. I purchased a pair of Ruby & Bloom kitten heels and after wearing them twice the heels inexplicably fell off. I'm not a particularly large person nor am I schlepping all over a walking city so it really didn't make sense. Nordstom replaced the shoes very quickly and was very apologetic and kind in the process. A year later and I realize, I'm missing a heel. Really? Do I need to stop eating? (Never going to happen, btw - this is why I run marathons - so I can eat.) It's been a year but I love these shoes and was unwilling to let them go. I brought them in and was informed that they would send them out to be repaired for a minimal charge. I went to pick them up expecting to pay a few bucks. They not only re-heeled both shoes (I don't want to walk with a limp after all) but handed them to me and said, "No charge. They're a Nordstrom brand so this is on us." Moral of the Story? Love.
