Wanted to love Downeast, but feel really let down. We loved the employees who helped us with the purchase, which was two couches and two accent chairs. We spent about $5,000-$6,000 there. But about 90 days later, one of the couches burst a hole out of the bottom and all the stuffing is shooting out. We don't have pets, and our kids aren't allowed to play on these couches. They've seen nothing but normal use. The fabric just failed and unfortunately Downeast was not willing to help after only having them for about 3 months. I didn't even request a refund or return. I just asked that they assist in getting it professionally repaired. They were very nice in how they communicated, but made it clear they would not offer anything to help. I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase furniture from here. The styles are great, and the employees are nice, but I don't feel you can trust the quality or the company to stand behind their products. read more

I like this location better than the Draper location, although it feels a little smaller. They have a good selection, however, and on my most recent visit I was able to find several interesting items. As usual I didn't purchase anything large like furniture (the majority of their offerings), but I always have fun checking out their other offerings, especially kitchen oriented ones. I purchased a really nice cast iron grill pan, some French cake molds, a cold-smoking contraption, Microplane grater, and a super comfy pillow. The fun thing about Downeast, at least as far as these sorts of items go, is that you never really know what you'll find. They have a very weird mix of kitchen accessories, but many of them are items you might not find anywhere else, except maybe a specialty store, and even then... They do have lovely furniture, and I think the prices are reasonable, and in line with any of your other furniture retailers, while managing to be more visually appealing, and generally of high quality (although it is an Outlet, so check that there isn't any damage before making a purchase). They also have a good selection of linens, blankets, etc. Lastly, they carry clothing and accessories, but I've never really checked that out, so can't really speak to the quality or price. The employees are always very friendly and pleasant. They usually have an extra 30% off clearance items, although it never seems to be advertised. I think they also always offer some sort of percentage off monogrammed items. It's not the greatest store, but it's worth checking out every once in a while. read more

I used to LOVE coming here! They used to carry name brand clothing and furniture from Anthropologie, Pottery Barn etc. I used to love to come see what Anthropologie clothing goodies they had gotten in and left with no fewer than 5 items each time. They stopped carrying these items and I haven't been back since. I know many other people stopped coming here once they got rid of the name brand stuff as well. My wallet is definitely happy they don't carry it anymore because I used to spend a lot of money here for that reason. Now they just sell cheap looking furniture at way too high of a price for the quality that it is (isn't). read more

Well, I went back for a swimsuit and bought a table and chairs. That's a long story that's neither here nor there, but the moral of the story is that they do have good deals. Our table and chairs, leather but not-so-upscale wood went $200. The good news is that it was inexpensive. But we tried to buy the ones there from the back room and they were damaged. Glad we looked. Instead, we gave them our phone number, paid, and then they said they'd call for us to pick up. A week went by and nothing, so I called. After checking, they indeed had it in the back room and we picked it up an hour later. They're trying to do a lot of things.. transitioning from a scratch n' ding to a first-run, but still having outlet like tendencies. It's a little scattered, but if you're discriminating and know what you want then deals can be had. read more

You can find great clothes, furniture, linens, jewelry boxes, mirrors, decorations, etc. Most are personalized so they are at least half off. Some furniture they make themselves; the rest is usually damaged. I've never had their furniture delivered. read more

There's one name I would recommend, Blaire. To say the least, she stayed on the phone with me for 30 minutes, walked around the store several times looking for items, walked around the store a couple times in search of the store manager, dealt with my indecision, and kept her cool the entire time. Ended up buying a Coppenhagen Chaise chair. GREAT quality stuff. Generally the first place my wife and shop when looking at furniture and have completely decorated houses, and offices with stuff we find here. read more

It was my understanding that Downeast Home sells merchandise with small defects. So, when I went to Downeast Home to purchase Living Room furniture, I kept this in mind and carefully inspected the pieces I was interested in. I found one sofa, couch, chair set. The chair had a small stain, thus I assumed that was it's defect. Fast forward 4 years and the leather has almost entirely peeled off the couches in small pieces that get everywhere. Not quite what their 'About Us' page describes: "The beauty of our stores is that they are chock full of the best brands and our own lines of clothing and furniture -- all at ridiculously low prices. You won't hear us mention the many national brands that we carry in any of our advertising because the companies we buy from will not allow us to advertise their names. Fed by our many large warehouses, our stores receive shipments of new merchandise every week." Customer service was fine, prices were good, but buyer beware. You may not be getting what you think. read more

I've had a very disappointing experience with this store. Ordered online and after payment received notice the sofa would not be delivered for 3 months. A month later and the shipment was delayed again for an additional month. The shipping facility chosen by this company cannot locate the sofa and now 4 months later I am still without the sofa I ordered and it cannot even be located. Do not recommend. read more

I love this Downeast! It's close to where I live and I think the staff are helpful and friendly. I've also found some amazingly awesome deals there. I'm ok letting people write their poor reviews, more treasures for me!!! I love the tent sales, I've found the most amazing and random things there that have worked out nicely for our home! From antique chairs (I had a leg fixed on it, paid $25 for the chair and $25 for the leg to be repaired and the chair is amazing, true treasure!). Plus I've found awesome deals on name brand clothes! Um, $30 for Paige Premium jeans?! Yes, please, sorry Nordstrom, you'll have to scam other people for now!:) I've also found Hudson jeans, some are repaired by Downeast, which is fine by me, especially when their a fraction of the cost from high end stores. Anthropology is one of my favorite stores, Downeast also has a lot of their stuff, it's hit and miss on quality/damage. Some have marks/stains, but I've even been able to take a normally priced $178 shirt with a permanent looking mark on it and removed the stain, paid $15 for the shirt! Totally worth it to me! Some stuff is, in my opinion, over priced, I haven't tried any of their brand of clothes, but they do have awesome sales. I'll keep searching and finding deals. Give them a try, I stop by when I'm bored to see if they have any interesting deals, it's hit and miss! read more

I will begin by saying that I used to shop here quite a bit and always left happy. Fast forward to a new, inexperienced manager and it seems, well, desperate for sales at the expense of future shopping. We were in on Sat., purchased a loveseat, ottoman and rug. We were told that to get an additional 20% off we had to spend $50 more(to reach the $500 base). We found a rug, the associate said she thought they were on sale, if so that would be $40 off and we'd still be available for the additional 20% off. The manager then said no, it was regular price. My husband asked if she could make it an even $550(it was $555.60), she said no. I was stunned but said nothing, after all, it's the cost of a coffee. We laughed on the way home at the blatant stupidity of her decision. Didn't think any more about it until I went back for a rug pad and two more chairs...and the rug I paid full price for was, indeed, now marked 20% off! When I questioned the manager(?) at the Draper store, she made it worse by pretending(?) not to understand and saying the other manager had done everything right! Another sales associate jumped in by saying they didn't give "double" discounts! Really? When a price changes within two days, it is considered good business(not to mention common sense!)to honor it. Not here! They both seemed very uncomfortable with my questioning so I let it go. I have been in management and know exactly what happened. The Sandy manager is inexperienced and desperate for sales. They just lost a potential customer over $40 and I will tell everyone I know to go elsewhere. I will also contact the District and Regional Manager, just so they are aware. I bought a swimsuit, the clerk told me as she was handing me the receipt that it could be returned as long as all tags were on the item and I had the receipt. I returned the swimsuit a few days later with the receipt and all tags on only to find that the policy is exchange or store credit only. The clerk showed me the policy on the receipt. However, the receipt was given to me after I purchased the item so I was never properly informed of their policy. Be careful, this stores return policy is sly and deceitful. read more
