There are times that the one experience with a company/store puts that "bad taste in your mouth" feel, and this was the one time. From the moment we walked into the store at 6207 S State St Murray, UT 84107, we were completely ignored in the furniture department. We mingled there looking at furniture, bedding and accessories for an extended period of time. Two men were across the store from us behind computer screens at their work stations. We saw one woman in an office door who was talking to someone else in the office, who would come out, look at us, and then turn around and walk back in and continue her conversation. It felt as if they were too busy to help us. We finally sent someone to the kitchen section to inquire if we could get some help in furniture. I saw the woman come out of the office, look at us, then approach one of the men, who got up from his station and walked toward us. I explained my dilemma of having started an order online with a cabinet that was on sale and as I was processing the order, I had questions regarding shipping/delivery that I couldn't find the answers to online. So I put it aside to go into the store after my out of town work trip, not realizing the sale was for a limited time. Pulling up the order, I discovered the sale had ended and the cabinet was back to regular price. I asked if there was any way they would honor the sale price. The salesman went to ask the manager, from the same office as the talking staff, and came back and said, "she said no." No explanation, no greeting, no apology from the manager. Just "No". I have never felt so ignored and dismissed as I did in that department in that store. I'm sure this is not the standard of Crate and Barrel, but it has tarnished my opinion of the entire company from one sour experience. read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I've never been in a store where literally not a single employee even tries to greet me or ask if I need help. An employee looked at me, ignored me, and greeted the person that came in behind me. This has happened every single time I go into this store. I will NEVER visit this store again. If I could give them 0 stars I would! I never take the time out of my day to leave a review, especially a negative one but the store owner needs to know how horrible the employees are! I love crate and barrel but have only shopped in the Vegas store! I just moved to Utah, so I went yesterday looking for new bedroom furniture. I saw about 3-4 men standing around in the front. No one greeted me or approached me to see if I needed help. After waiting I decided to approach them, still no one acknowledged me or said anything so I had to ask someone to please help me! I asked about a bed I wanted and he was telling me the color wasn't in stock when it showed it was! He just seemed so annoyed to be helping me and seemed he knew nothing at all about anything! One of the worst shopping experiences of my life! So sad because I love the store but after that I'm sure I would never go back! Please check your staff and teach them what customer service is because they have zero skills! You will Lose a lot of business because your staff thinks they are above customers for some reason. Don't buy from them unless you have hours to spend on the phone with people that are very sorry for your inconvenience, but unwilling/unable to help. The furniture is good, but every aspect of dealing with customer service has been horrible. The first problem is we have several orders, and each order requires a $275 delivery fee. Spent an hour on the phone with customer service trying to combine deliveries to minimize the fees, but evidently it takes them 3 business days to move items from one delivery to another????! Then there is back ordered items, it's either wait two months to get everything delivered together, or pay more $275 fees. I would think spending $20k+ would get us a little leeway on these fees, but nope. Constant problems with their credit card as well, and more hours on the phone. I am done with crap & barrel and will be buying the rest of my furniture from other vendors. read more

*This is my very first time ever stepping foot into a Crate and Barrel. I just bought a house for the first time and was excited to look at the furniture/options in person to add to this house.* I stood around the design center space waiting for someone to help me. Thought it would be quick since there were several associates asking people who had JUST walked in if they needed help, but of course none of them approached me during the 15 minutes I was looking at couches. I finally just walked up to someone and asked if they could help me. I asked that I simply wanted to be shown the sofa fabrics that are more pet-friendly (shedding wise). She gave me a dirty look and said that doesn't exist.... At one point later in the convo she also said "I've never had someone come in and ask that in the 8 years I've worked here." I reworded what I thought was a simple question and just asked for the types of fabric that would just catch pet hair less. She took me to the couches on display to show me fabrics (which I had already done for 15-20 min prior already). What I wanted was a more comprehensive list of fabrics that were pet friendly because obviously the fabrics of the display couches aren't all their fabrics. She said "that would take you and I all day." So it went from pet friendly fabrics that "don't exist" to "there's too much to show" and I simply do not want to spend the time on you. The reason I wanted to ask someone for help because I would think someone working at C&B would be able to give me recommendations on which fabrics/weaves are more pet friendly, or fabrics that most customers who have pets choose etc... I would suspect that someone who has worked their for 8 YEARS would be able to give me some more advice on this type of stuff. Before writing this review I was shocked by a review by Alexis L that essentially mirrored my same sentiments! Well, not shocked that there was already a bad review about this but her review just confirmed my suspicion: It seems like these 50-60 year old ladies are AGEIST and probably racist too as they were so warm and attentive to the older white couples who came in the store vs making eye contact with me and looking away. I was here on 12/3/21 at 1-1:30pm ish. There were 3 ladies at the design center who were of no help. The one mentioned in this review was older (idk 50-60?), brunette, squinty eyes, wore a cardigan and black leather looking flats (maybe her name was Suzanne or something? I heard the other lady say her name at one point). The other lady was blonde, around the same age, wearing a striped dress. The last one was maybe 50-55 had a pixie cut and wore glasses I think. Asked everyone if they needed help but never approached me. Usually I brush these types of things off and I rarely ever write reviews. But this was unacceptable and left such a bad taste of Crate and Barrel in my mouth. I will definitely not be taking my business here and will go to other competitors that I hope give any customer, regardless of age or race, respect.* read more

My Grand Tillie arrived torn and with its side fabric crushed! After I disputed the charge with Paypal, C&B customer service promised a 30% discount for months of delays in getting a replacement. C&B told me I had to remove the Paypal dispute to get the promised discount. But after I removed the Paypal dispute, C&B has refused to issue the refund. Paypal tells its subscribers to never remove a dispute until a refund is actually received. I thought I could trust a company like C&B to follow through with what a senior customer service rep had promised after frustrations with a defective product. Paypal encouraged me to file a police report and pursue small claims court. Really Crate & Barrel, this is the kind of company you want to be? read more

Nothing I have bought from Crate and Barrel has lasted more than a year. I bought a white, canvas laundry bag and the handle immediately separated from the body the first time I hoisted it up. An expensive linen duvet cover has lost nearly all the buttons because of cheap, crappy thread, one of them even shattered on contact with the floor one day when putting the duvet on the bed. Not even a year after buying higher end pillowcases one of them ripped a huge hole after wearing down rapidly in the wash. I bought a spatula with a wood handle and a silicon top and after about six months of excellent care it's gone wobbly and is about to separate. A really nice looking serving spoon with copper coated handle and white silicon top deteriorated in a matter of months with the entire copper coating peeling off even though I took care to wash it by hand and never put it in the dishwasher (even though directions say it can be put in the dishwasher). DO NOT BUY from C&B, their products are only made to look nice and you will be replacing them very soon after. read more

Corporate contacted the Murray store, Amanda not only chose not to address the issue but was rude about it. This is by far one of the best furniture/home décor stores around. It's always great fun to just browse around and they have some really elegant and good quality items. From furniture, through small appliances, through table ware and kitchen gadgets they have it all. It's hard to escape here without just wanting to go wild and buy up half the store. In this modern throw away consumer world where goods are bought cheap, break, get thrown away and then replaced in a vicious cycle of planned obsolescence (I wasn't advocating actually throwing that type of consumer away...well not consciously) - it's pleasant to still find places like this. All joking aside, while I myself also sometimes have a certain thrifty side to me, I also do like nice things for our house - and so I enjoy the fact that chains like this still exist, makes such a change from, well those other ones I could mention. And yep, it is pretty pricey, but they have some good and unique stuff, and things that actually last. In the long run honestly, if you're savvy about your purchasing, especially with furniture, it can actually end up paying dividends while also adding that extra level of ambiance and warmth to your home. read more

Go guerrilla on the thing and strike with precision, because if not you might end up buying one of everything. Of particular interest is the kitchen accessories section. Every knickknack you can imagine lines that area. Some are more useful than others. Bowls, utensils, measuring cups; you'll use these, probably. Other stuff is really case specific. But if you've got room in your cabinets to store that crème brûlée torch, you go right ahead. I was kinda surprised that a lot of their furniture and bedroom stuff had a more rustic look to it. I mean, I know they have the word "barrel" in their name but I always remember it being more chic (from trips to Chicago). I suppose that also depends on the time of the year and what's hot right now, but there were a lot of pieces with rough-hewn timber. Sort of modern but a little hint of cabin or country. There are, however, still sleek pieces to be found. I don't think I'm fawning over everything. That's probably good because I can't afford hardly anything. But it's worth taking a tour every so often to see what tickles your decorating taste buds, and very fun to see what little kitchen gadget you might add to your collection. read more

When I need retail therapy I go to two places: Crate & Barrel or IKEA. Crate & Barrel is my go-to place for kitchen gadgets. I love the quality of the product; these kitchen tools last. My bowls, plates, and glasses are all from here. Most recently I bought measuring cups and spoons. They are not the price of Wal-mart gadgets, but the quality is much better! You will pay for the quality. The colors changed based on seasons. I needed something red in the summer, forget about it! It was all bright greens and purples this summer. Red is a winter color. That did not bother me as much as I thought it would because I still walked away with some super cute throw pillows and handy gadgets. They carry full place settings, glasses, silverware, table setting accessories, containers, some small appliances, furniture, grilling accessories, etc. I find their stuff always trendy and very useful. This location is pretty decently sized, and the sales associates have always been friendly and helpful. I am almost always approached at least once, even when they are busy. Prices are pretty average for a home goods store, although I am often pleasantly surprised by the cost of some of their basic dishes, kitchen gadgets, etc. Not only that, but if you can catch something when it's on sale you'll really get a good deal. I most often come here for candles, barware, and serving pieces. They also always seem to have a great selection of creative seasonal items. read more

Before I get to the point of my review, I just wanna say that I LOVE Crate and Barrel's kitchen and especially, furniture offerings. Its style is my style and I often find stuff at the C & B store that I really want to buy. The price can be somewhat prohibitive but sometimes you just get sick of IKEA furniture, ya know? I'm a loyal C & B customer but just want to caution you if you're buying small pieces of furniture. In my case, I ordered two outdoor side tables (20" x 10" x 26") that could easily fit in my car. I thought I'd save on shipping costs and pick the tables up at the C & B warehouse, about 5-6 miles from my house. It's been three weeks since I ordered the tables. I have to wait for them to be shipped from parts unknown, wait for a call from the warehouse that my stuff is there, then can only pick up between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. after receiving the pickup call. To complicate matters, the company doesn't explain the process and so I had to call to find out what was going on. From the time of my order to the time of pick up, 18 days will have elapsed. Just wanted to make C & B customers aware of that before they order online. read more

Crate & Barrel is one of the best (in my opinion) home furnishing stores out there. Their merchandise is top-quality and the employees are always helpful. I stopped in yesterday in search of some small gift items, and several employees had great suggestions and they were all helpful. They do a great job packaging your purchases and will ship them for you, too! If you purchase online, the return process at the store is very simple. They also have a clearance section that often has great bargains, and you can also shop the outlet online (or in California, Texas ...). I visit often, especially at Christmas, for gift cards, ornaments, table linens, and kitchen gadgets. The Fashion Place staff is extraordinarily great! I walked in and saw a really awesome looking ottoman. They had it in many colors. I asked the salesperson if I could buy the red one. She took about 10 minutes and said they were out of stock. I then asked about the black one. Another 10 minutes and she said out of stock. Finally I asked what do you have in stock and she left again for 10 minutes returning to tell me nothing. I asked if I could buy the display and she said let me check. I overheard the manager say uh no in a very condescending tone. I then asked if I could have it shipped to my house and he replies "For a shipping fee". I ask again can I please buy to display and he rolls his eyes. I say thanks for your help and he walks off. We were very satisfied with our experience here. We found some barstools that I was just in love with, and Crate and Barrel only had one in store. An employee helped us order the other two we needed and sent us home with the one in the store. When we got home, we discovered that there was damage to the stool. the side was splintered and paint scraped off. We brought it back and they were very apologetic. They then ordered another barstool for us, and rushed the delivery free of charge. Then we were followed up with to ensure they arrived and that we were satisfied. Ordered $5k in furniture. They were quick to take the order and said they scheduled an install for today. The sales rep confirmed with my wife and I because today is Saturday, wanting to make sure we'd be here. We made sure our couches were sold and moved (tv room is now useless), and were wondering what time they'd be here. We call and find out that the order hasn't been placed, and because of how they work with their warehouse in California, it will be at least a week and a half. Update: they called 3 days later to tell me it will be here in 2 days. I appreciate that they are doing their best to fix the issue. Still, better it hadn't happened. read more

I placed this order on April 30, 2017. They called two weeks later to inform me that the fabric was on back order. I requested a refund as I needed a couch mu sooner. They denied the request and told me that once you place a custom order you cannot get your deposit back. I was forced to accept the policy. I received the order on October 5th, 2017 and noticed the damage to the chair and storage unit. I called the store immediately to discuss the situation. The clerk told me I had two choices that I could return it or keep it and discuss when the managers come back into the store. I choose to return it since the movers were already here. The store manager instructed Vicki to notify me to say that they will not accept the return of damaged goods under any circumstances as it was a custom order. The items were sent back to me as damaged. I was told that the furniture would be fixed and if I had an issue the day of delivery to call Vicki. On October 10th I greeted the movers and took photos as the furniture was being lifted off the truck. There is a material flaw in the fabric of the Axis storage unit. There is damage to the Galloway Arm Chair at one of the wood legs and the legs are not level. Crate and Barrel had a chance to repair the chair for over 5 days now and it was delivered as damaged goods. The Axis storage bin has a material flaw and it holds up the lounge cushion to the sofa.
