A few weeks ago I had to help the company I work for schedule two donation pick ups that were sort of last-minute. Both times, it was Mason and Andre that came to assist us and they were both WONDERFUL!!! They were so helpful and patient and kind while I felt like I was full of chaotic energy trying to help get everything ready. It was a breath of fresh air to have them both show up with such great energy and it helped me feel less stressed, too! After using the other side moving company and loving their service and then finding out their whole story I was anxious to try and support some of the other, Other side businesses. We tried the Murray location thrift shop next. It's smaller than the DI. I'd the say they are overall pickier about the quality of the items they offer to the public than the DI. The prices are what you'd expect from a thrift store. Overall it was a good experience. More furniture related items than you typically see at the DI too with a smaller selection of clothes. But everything in the store was in decent shape. It's well organized. The lines move slowly. That might be its only drawback. I highly recommend this place. read more

I love the mission of "The Other Side" and am excited to see that they have not one, but two thrift stores in the valley. This one is in Murray, just around the corner from the DI-so if you're doing a lot of thrifting, you can hit them both in a short amount if time. I much prefer this one because it's clean and organized and the prices are fair. The clothing seems to be a little nicer and in better shape than the DI and the organization of the store is neat, tidy and welcoming. My favorite thing was the stack of "mystery boxes" which you can take home for $10 a box. I didn't end up taking one, but I'm insanely curious about what I might have found. read more

This is probably the best thrift store I've ever been in! All of the items are well arranged by size and type and are clean and in great condition. I bought a pair of Jeffrey Campbell's shoes in perfect condition from their dollar table. The furniture is impeccable. It's not the type of furniture you usually find in thrift stores. We went here with some friends from California and they picked up four barstools and put them in the back of their car to drive back. I wish they had another one closer since we live in Utah County, but I will make the trip up to Salt Lake just to go there! The work that they do with people who otherwise would be in prison is amazing. Look into The Other Side Academy on the web and see what they're doing. As a big thrifter and vintage collector, I love both the layout and offerings at TOSA. It's pretty huge and their women's clothing department takes up almost half the store, which is a win for me. They have amazing prices and you can find some really high quality stuff for the low. I've scored on beautiful jewelry and authentic leather pieces, as well as some gorgeous vintage home decor. Plus, there's a donut truck parked out front so you can get a little sweet treat after your thrifting adventures! read more

Was shopping for a love seat and found one that was perfect. However, they refused to sell it to me because it was part of a "set"- that also included a couch. That couch could have easily sold on its own, in fact it would likely sell easier without being forced to buy the loveseat too. The "set" was awkward and silly and it made no sense to refuse me buying the loveseat, which I would have paid full price for. I'm in the process of moving and was going to use this thrift store to furnish my whole house, but now they have not only lost a sale but lost me as a customer over this nonsensical refusal to sell me the loveseat. read more

Love these stores and their staff. We decided to buy a second little house in Utah to be closer to kids and grandkids. To furnish it we stumbled on The Other Side. Wow! We got quality pieces at crazy low prices and they were wonderful people to work with. I've been tempted to go to this location for weeks now and finally showed up today for their $1 T-shirt Tuesdays! So....I normally do NOT like to drive to Salt Lake County for anything (hate the drive!) but I felt courageous today and drove anyway, anticipating all the goodies that I was wanting to find in this awesome thrift shop. I arrived about an hour after they opened, and it seems like this place is jumpin' even at 11 am in the morning - probably because of their $1 T-shirt Tuesday deals! The shirt aisles seemed tussled already, but I was able to find a good amount of shirts that I said to myself, "I'd buy that for a dollar!" In addition to finding shirts, I found an awesome Camo sweater for the fall/winter months and a great pair of broken in jeans! I mean, you have to be a thrifter and have the love to go to thrift stores, for you to drive 40 minutes to, just to go, right? This place did not disappoint - the racks were presentable and clean, there's someone always fixing them, and the employees were friendly. I wish they had a Utah County location, way better treasures and finds than other thrift stores I've been to. They also have furniture, accessories, trinkets, fantastic shoe finds, and a lot more name-brand clothing than other thrift stores in my opinion. I'm an instant fan and this place is the place that will keep me driving to Salt Lake County for! read more

The other side boutique is my favorite thrift store in Murray. I always find things I like and it also always has the best deals and really good quality clothing and furniture. I have found a plethora of things here from house supplies to frames, decorations, dressers, drawers, etc. Everyone who works here is always super friendly and offers help. Incredibly rude employees. They were condescending, hostile, entitled and acted as if we were the enemy for patronizing their business. I'm sure this isn't true of every employee there, but we had an awful experience with customer service. Beyond awful, straight hostile and entitled. The other location had much more friendly and helpful staff. I support the organizations mission but the way we were treated for trying to support their business was unacceptable and ridiculous. I recommend the other location. Don't expect much from the staff at this one. And I apologize to the good staff at this location, but as they say one bad apple ruins the bunch. read more

Great shop. They have tons of clothes and the store is well organized and clean. Reasonable pricing and friendly staff. They also had a bin of $1 Amazon items that were new things. I was looking for more home decor items and they didn't have a huge selection. They do have a lot of furniture and artwork, frames though. Like them on social media and signup with your phone number to accumulate points with your purchases. I found this shop on Yelp which was one minute from the Desert Industries thrift shop. I love this thrift store and the story behind it, but I tell ya what, they have no problem telling you to get out. Before closing time. I stopped in on a weeknight around 5:15pm or so. I was informed at least 3 different times by two different employees that they were closing and to wrap it up. (It was 5:40pm, they close at 6pm). I have no problem honoring that and leaving the business on time. My last intention is to stay beyond the closing time. But, there's also no reason to make your customers feel rushed and unappreciated. I ended up putting back some items I was going to buy, just based off the experience. Maybe coach the crew to take a more friendly approach asking customers to leave. Needless to say, I was out by 5:50pm, with 2 items purchased. When your hours of operation are until 6pm, I feel like the doors and parking lot should remain open until that time. Bummed about this experience this go around. read more

LIFE CHANGING ORGANIZATION: A couple of years ago a man I was dating suddenly informed me that we were breaking up because he was entering a program through this organization. He was a bad boy, charming, handsome, and I enjoyed Motorcycle rides with that man. I am not sure what has become of him but I am certain that his life was changed for the better. I randomly stopped by The Other Side awhile back to check out the thrift store. It's not as organized or well run as the nearby Desert Industries, and the product selection is random and unusual. WOW. I cannot believe I found the best thrift store here in Utah! I accidentally found this thrift store when I was parking in front of it instead of Deseret Industries. I am a picky thrifter and I only pick styles that I feel speaks to me the most. Before I head in, I checked their Facebook page and lo and behold, they have the best deals and best items in the store! Brands like Kate Spade and Michael Kors come around so hurry up before someone snags it! I went in and I found Nike shorts for 3 dollars and an authentic adidas superstars (youth size) for 5 dollars! That is an absolute steal! Not only they sell clothes, but they sell variety stuff like bikes, ski gear and more. There's free membership you can sign up for every time you shop here and you earn free store credit! Definitely follow their Facebook page for their deals and items, and find your gem in this store. The prices are really cheap, but I didn't find anything when I came here. My dad got lucky in the men's section, but the women's section had a lot of old clothes. That's why I gave it three stars. The furniture is nice and most of the furniture is antique, which is pretty cool. Other than that, the store is really clean! I like that. The staff is friendly and helpful. Wow. Just wow. If you want you see the coolest used clothing/furniture store ever, you need to check this place out. Amazing prices, awesome vibe, great furniture and clothes!! I found an amazing stool for my music studio, and a toaster oven that is in perfect shape. Not to mention the decor is well done and the vibe is really cool. It's so well done and most of the items look, I caught myself thinking "is this really a thrift shop?" What really impressed me was how friendly and cool the checkout clerks were, they even helped me load the stuff I bought in my car (I bought several pieces of furniture).
