I bought something from Goodwill, walked out to my car, realized it wasn't going to work, and came straight back in -- less than 5 minutes later. I still had the receipt and the tags attached. And guess what? They refused to give me my money back. Instead, they forced me to take a store credit. I paid cash. I expected my refund in cash. Not a useless gift card that I don't even want. I wasn't even gone long enough to do anything with the item. I could practically still see the checkout counter from my car! It's a complete scam. Once they have your money, you're trapped. Even if you realize the mistake immediately, too bad -- they make sure you can't get it back. How is that even legal? Every normal store gives you your money back if you return something immediately. Not Goodwill. I'm done wasting my time and money here. Absolute garbage customer service. read more

I was having a hard time trying to find someone that could help me because everyone was busy but then i bumped into Dana she works back in the donations door, she was so helpful she answered every question I had without hesitation and we all know how hard it is to ind someone that can actually provide us with useful information. in most cases the workers have to go and find someone else to answer the questions, not in this case Dana was a great help. she seems like a very great asset to goodwill. I found some good stuff here! super disappointed in the racist memorabilia that I found here however. Found an African figurine (obviously wasn't from African culture anywhere). Just curious why it was taken in and instead of being trashed, was being sold within all the other knick knacks? just Honestly wish there was better protocol for things like this, as a black person honestly just ruined my experience in the store when I saw it. Goodwill Store - Thrift Stores Near Me - Murray, Utah

I used to dearly love this Goodwill... so much that my friends call me the Goodwill Queen. Unfortunately, my most recent experience has been an ongoing nightmare. I only shop the Goodwill during the Instagram half off days each month. I always go after work and hit Millcreek then the Murray locations. I did this last Thursday evening before heading out to a trip to Denver. I grabbed a cart full at both locations and showed my Instagram coupon and also said I was using the coupon. At the Murray location, the woman who checked me out even commented that she appreciated that I am always prepared with my coupon. When I got home, as I was throwing my purchases in the wash, I realized she had, in fact, not honored my coupon and I had paid full price. I didn't realize at the store as when I grab a full cart of clothes I'm not calculating the cost of that many pieces. It was also too late to head back to the store. I left for Denver the next morning. When I returned I trekked back to the Murray store twice after work to see how the issue could be resolved, as I had spent $40 extra dollars with the checkers mistake. Both times I was told that they couldn't help me, because the manager wasn't there. At this point, I have have lost money, time, and am feeling beyond frustrated and sad about what has happened as I love the Goodwill and this wasn't my mistake at all. Even if I have to return the clothes, that's fine, but of course I didn't know I'd have to do that, so the tags are not attached and this most recent trip to try and resolve the issue was the 7th day. I'm really hoping this can be resolved, but I'm losing hope and really, really hate that my favorite Goodwill has left me in tears all week. read more

Stopped here to kill some time. We saw multiple women changing in the aisles...including someone's bare butt. Kids are running loose, even riding a bike into the women's restroom. The female worker did not wash her hands, just a quick rinse and go after using the facilities. The bathroom smelled horribly sour, was visibly dirty and they are missing the basic locks on the stalls. The young male cashier was efficient, task oriented and pleasant so he was great. The shoppers with the kids running loose didn't seem to mind that their children were opening packages. Just overall an eye opening experience. The products were average. The shelves were significantly emptied than most goodwills across the country and the prices were ok, if not a little on the high side. read more

This goodwill is very hit or miss. The older ladies working here are so very sweet and genuine. There is this older man who I think was a manager of some sort who was incredibly rude. I was walking around looking for someone to open a fitting room for me and when i came across him before i could ask the question he was glaring at me. I simply and kindly asked him if i could get a fitting room and he snapped back telling me how many people needed a fitting room like i was supposed to know. You really never do know what someone is going through which is why i would like to say he was just having a bad day. But bad days aren't an excuse for being rude. You can keep your kindness through whatever goes on. read more

I think whenever I visit a Goodwill store, I will be simultaneously sad and happy. (Stick with me.. this is going somewhere). First, it does make me a little sad. Here is this big store full of old things. For the most part, they used to be things that were happy. That new scarf that someone got from their husband. That pair of jeans that fit just perfectly. Or those shoes that will be the final touch on an outfit for Friday night. The past. The history. All these things now discarded. It's sad. But the happy part is, that each of these things carries with it happy memories. She wore that scarf on their anniversary. Those jeans on her birthday when she met The One. Those shoes on their first date on that fateful Friday. And they loved each of those items enough to give them a second chance. That second chance might come along when someone else sees the good in that glassware or old couch. Or perhaps it's a vintage wedding dress that changes hands and ends up being used in a new beginning. All of these items are available here. I'll always be a little sad when I visit Goodwill, thinking about the past. But there's always those treasured memories locked up there, too. read more

I am definitely a fan! The whole store seems very clean and organized. I always find cool cheap stuff here. A nice vintage J Crew high waist jeans for $3.99. Chop chop...now a new fashionable high waist shorts. A good condition comfortable old school leather black boots for $5.99. Now my new vintage black boots. A pretty new bright orange and white color pillow with modern pattern for $1.99. Now it is in my pillow decoration collection. A wooden crates with Wasatch Christmas Ale logo on it for $3.99...polish it. Now it stores books, magazine and my other craps. Compare to DI. Yes, some pricing is cheaper at DI. However, there a lot of people at DI and anything that is good just fly off their shelf next second. Oh yeah, I find nice stuff here :D read more

DO NOT DONATE HERE! We took items here to donate today, including some nice potted fake plants. For whatever reason the person working there decided they didn't want them and just threw the entire box toward the dumpster, shattering all the pots. Had I been told they couldn't take them, I'd have taken them back to try to find them a new home elsewhere. The sole purpose I donate is to keep things out of the landfill that still have life in them. I will never donate here again! read more

The guy who runs the show for this goodwill is rude and ignorant. We called a couple days prior to us dropping something off and the lady who answered approved of what it was, a BRAND NEW couch. It's in perfect condition and basically just sat in an insides living room. We were unloading it with the younger guy working there, and this old man came out and said NO. He barely could put a word together and what we got out of it was, the cushions are destroyed. The younger gentleman was shocked too but said he had to listen to the guy in charge. It's FREE, BRAND NEW, and could a help a family out but no they're too picky on what they want or in my opinion too lazy and don't want to work. read more

These people have absolutely no customer service skills. They lie to you. They tell you they're accepting donations. You say you'll be right there. It takes 20 minutes to get there. It's hours before their closing time. They know you're on you're way. Then, they just arbitrarily put a sign out that they've stopped taking donations. Doesn't matter if you've verified the hours and that they are taking donations at that time. Doesn't matter that you've called ahead before leaving to let them know you're coming. They tell you sure, come on down. I wasted my time, my gas. No apology for the inconvenience. Then I was told that I could come back tomorrow at 11 am. How do I know they aren't lying to me again?! I'm not wasting my time with these people! read more

I have found better stuff at this Goodwill location than at the other one in Millcreek, and it's bigger. This is only my second Goodwill I've gone to in Utah so I don't have much to compare it to but definitely found more at this location than their other Salt Lake City one. Good dresses as well as housewares and everything seemed to be kept up and cared for which I respected. The book collection is kinda weak but you can still find lots of non fiction books here so if you like novels then this location has a lot of those type of books. Old style cookbooks but somewhat in good condition so if you're looking for vintage cookbooks you'll find them here! read more

Go here for clothing. Best selection of thrift men's and children's clothing I've encountered outside a specialty store or outlet. Not a huge volume, but what they have is well-ordered, in great condition, and by brands like Sorel, Dickies, Carhartt and Ralph Lauren instead of Target and Walmart generics. Lots of kids shoes. Pretty sad assortment of household goods, furniture, tools, electronics, toys and other 'hard goods.' They have a ton of new in the package "dollar-store-esque" products that are complete crap. IMO it's like a pipeline straight to the worst of your shoddy Chinese factories. Items seemed a tad more expensive than DI. But the focus on organization and better quality seems to justify it in most cases. read more

Hard to rate any Goodwill more than 3 stars... this one is for the most part clean and organized. Prices seem a bit high for a thrift store. As far as selection goes... it's a thrift store, what they have available is based on what has been donated. Some of the donation they get should go to a landfill, but I do occasionally find some good items here. read more

I went to go donate three cars full of items left over from my garage sale and I regret giving it to this goodwill. First off, I show up and this bratty girl with glasses freaks out at us that we are donating a door with a knob in good condition. Then she says that she could throw it away for us so we leave it and then we unload all the stuff as she stands there and does nothing. Then this old grump of a man comes out and starts yelling about a tv that we were donating. We then unloaded the rest of the car and they don't help at all! Don't get a box lifting job if you can't even help lift boxes. They then both start yelling at us that we are donating junk and they aren't a junk yard. We donated so many good DVDs, dishes, exercise equipment, clothes, and furniture. For a company that literally makes a profit off of donations, they were extremely disrespectful and had a major attitude. When we were handing a full box of practically new dishes to them, the young tiny girl dumped them out and broke all of them. Very unprofessional. I will never donate to a goodwill again and I'll donate it to the Mormons instead. They are at least somewhat more grateful and not extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. Even as we were pulling away, the old grump started talking bad about us to the next car donating, I hated this experience and will not be back. I hope they don't make any money off of my good items. I did not come to give away my stuff for free just to get yelled at. Fix your attitudes and staff. read more

I came to goodwill to look for a leather jacket and I saw that they closed at 9pm and we got here at 8:50pm and as soon as I walked it I was told they were closed. I was only going to look at the jackets and then leave and that would've only took like 2 minutes. I used to work at fast food and we wouldn't close early, when we close the lobby at 10pm we mean 10pm. Kind of disappointed. read more

Pretty average. Personaly, in my experience, good will doesn't have the nicest things and it is way overpriced. For instance, this goodwill doesn't do their homework. They were selling a fire pit for $69.99. This same pit, brand new, is $32 at Walmart. I bought one last week. I could by two with tax for that amount. People were friendly, though. read more

Pretty dumb to require photo ID with a debit card purchase of $20 or less. It's not like I'm gonna steal a debit card and go to a thrift store.... Ridiculous that I spent two hrs there for nothing. So don't forget your photo ID. read more

There was a lot at this store, most of it good quality, the problem is that almost everything is twice as much as you can find at DI. I left pretty disappointed. The exact same glass containers at DI were $0.99, Goodwill was $1.99. Some of the prices I would not even pay at a retail store, none the less a thrift store. Being the second Goodwill store in Salt Lake, they better rethink their pricing strategy or they won't last long. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I asked to get into the fitting rooms 15 minutes before close, to try on a few shirts, and the lady told me that the fitting rooms were closed. So I had to try all of my shirts on over my other shirt and basically made me flash the other customers, only because the lady that worked there couldn't be bothered. Also, the people they have tagging the sizes on the clothes, obviously they are not paying attention to the actual size tags on the clothing at all. I saw probably 20 different shirts that were marked incorrect sizes. Clearly this store needs new management and better employees! read more
