Love this place! All of the clothes are very nice and it's my favorite place to shop.

They pay almost nothing for clothes, take 40 minutes to sell too, the employees are full of themselves and rude, the clothes are way to expensive for being used, and for how picky they are about what they buy they have tons of hideous clothes. Never again. read more

This store is fantastic! I came here to find a little black dress to wear to my sister's wedding, and ended up going home with three dresses, shoes, and a scarf for $35! They didn't give me a limit on how much clothing I could take in the dressing room so while I was trying on 20+ black dresses, I checked in on Yelp and got a coupon for a FREE Scarf! Turns out, the scarf I picked out was perfect for my sister's wedding, and went perfect with my dress. I got compliments all day on my little black dress and no one knew I got it for $11! :D This is my new Go-To place for cute second hand clothes! read more

I used to absolutely adore this place. I went in today to sell quite a bit of my closet because I'm downsizing. I had two full bags and a container of almost brand new- some had never even been worn- and they took one single pair of leggings and told me they could not take any of my clothes because they all had "issues in condition". How do clothes that have never been worn have a condition issue?!? The shelves were full, so I understand if they didn't take clothes because they had to many, but don't lie to me why. I will never go to Downtown Cheapskate after the serve or the lack of service I received at the Fashion Place location. I brought close in for the first time and made the assumption that it would be an easy process. The first employee told me to bring all of my stuff in and once I hauled everything in another employees said that they would not have time to look at it today. It was noon! I asked if I could leave it with them, because it was so much work to carry everything back to my car and they said no. I ended up taking my things back and donating them. I would rather see my beautiful cloths go to those in need than to give a penny to this company. I hope the owners read these post and realize that they have unwelcoming and incompetent employees. Not only did they not get my clothing they also lost a customer. read more

i love this store, thrifting is so fun because there is so many different kinds of clothes, and when you find something you like it's so rewarding because it's an insanely good price and it was like digging for gold! it's awesome, the store here has a huge selection, and has awesome service! it's always a treat to spend some time here shopping :) read more

Save yourself a trip and a bunch of wasted time and sell your items online. I get that they have to make a profit but what they offer to pay is a joke. Also having to wait 40 minutes to an hour to get offered hardly anything is super frustrating. read more

This is my favorite uptown cheapskate to come to. They have quality pieces and I don't feel like I have to search through a ton of lesser quality pieces to find what I want. Everything is great. I've had success every time I've stopped here. Good brands like Madewell, J Crew, Free People, Hudson, and some indie brands sold at Anthro etc. They have very fair prices, it's clean and organized. The staff is mostly young and they can get distracted and talk loudly to each other but it doesn't bother me too much, just not exactly professional. I've never sold here because I don't sell in consignment. read more

I noticed the other day that I have been shopping here for almost 4 years. The service here is normally really good, and friendly. They have kiosks to check you in now when your selling cloths which makes it really easy to sell clothes. Also, now that I know what to look for I have an easier time getting them to take in my clothes. As someone plus size, the selection isn't always amazing, but they do make an effort to buy stylish plus size clothes when they can. They are often having some kind of sale, but either way the prices are super great for what you can find. This particular location has plenty of dressing rooms, and a big layout. read more

I have been in 2 times and it was closer to closing. Not only have I loved my clothes that I bought there but there are 3 worker that are younger. THEY ARE THE BEST HYPE MEN EVER. My first experience was amazing they were having a sell I didn't really understand / know about so I was super happy at the cash register but this girl checking me out was like hyping up my selections and telling me I would look cute and stuff. It was super nice. I feel like normally when I go in place they just want you in and out. The second time I was wearing an outfit I bought there is was like a 2 piece fuzzy outfit super distinctive.., and I walked in and asked a question and she was like hyping me up and they all remembered me and it has been like at least a month. But I just thought they deserve Recognition because they have really good customer service if I find out there names when I go in next time I'll update but they made my whole experience read more

Best experience, staff is really helpful and makes the process super easy, one of the big advantages of going to this store is that they will dominate the things their not willing to buy, which takes of an extra trip to thrift shop to donate there. This was my first visit to the Murray location of Uptown Cheapskate. I was pleased, the store is super clean and the racks of clothes are all clean and organized. The staff wasn't as friendly as they are at the other Salt Lake valley locations, that's the only reason I gave them a 4 Star. Otherwise, great shopping experience! read more

We brought two bags in to sell, one which contained men's and women's clothing and the other contained men's shoes. We waiting for about 45 minutes while she sorted through only a fraction of the bag. She didn't even bother to look at the shoes let alone most of the clothing. Great store with plenty of options to choose from. I brought a basket full of clothes to try to sell. I had three brand name wallets and 16 items that were "accepted" all for fifty bucks. I paid over fifty for one of my Michael Kors bag.. kind of ridiculous. I would come back to shop but not sell. This is the first review I've ever written on yelp and it's only because I've never cared enough to write about good or bad service. I went to this store to sell some clothing and not only did it take forever to look at a whopping 15 pieces of clothing, but there was literally one out of 7 people behind the counter who knew what they were doing. The store was so unorganized and everything about it was slow paced and no one was friendly I almost just walked out without even getting the money they owed me from buying my clothes.. I've been to other uptown cheapskates before and this was by far the most negative experience I've ever had at a clothing store. read more

I ALWAYS love shopping at this location. The staff is welcoming and friendly. This store keeps up on trends and always takes 60-70% of my stuff when I sell. I like to get the store credit because then I feel like I can stop in when ever I want and update my look. I feel like their selection of styles is current with the season and totally in my price range. Get on their mailing list so you can be notified when they have sales, and strike while the iron is hot because the deals won't last! I hope this location continues to be part of my community. The store seemed fairly organized and the prices were mostly decent. There were a few items that seemed close to retail even though they were used. I got some great Albion Fit leggings for a great deal though. The staff was fairly friendly although they didn't accept the clothes I brought to sell (which were mostly Banana and American Eagle and in good condition). They did still give me a 10% off discount though. read more

If I could give negative starts I would. I went in with a bin full of high end/designer items, VERY MUCH still "in style" some with tags still on them. I came back 3.5 hours later and was told that my items "were not in style". I looked into the bin, they were still folded in the exact same order as before. They didn't even look. I used to love shopping here, but the clothing quality and customer service has seriously decreased! I think there was a change in management? Nick was the manager I used to love! All the buys were quality, the employees were happy and outgoing, and I always got a good exchange when going there. Over the course of he last several months, I have been heading into other UC to buy my clothing due to them having more high-end items that this one in Murray used to. Also, I sold there today (only one person in front of me) and it took and hour and 15 minutes! They make you STAY in the store. Nope nope nope. I had never been to an Uptown Cheapskate before. Reminded me of a Plato's but slightly more high end. I wanted to comment on how friendly the staff was when I came in (I only came in to shop, not sell). One of the girls walked me over to what I was looking for. Another one asked me if there was anything she could help me find... Anyways, I ended up finding what I needed for a fraction of the full price. I mean, this is why we shop second hand, right? I've been to this location now several times. Perhaps if you follow my review journey you'll remember the humdinger review I left for the downtown location. It was bad. I wouldn't go back into that store for less then $10,000. I assumed for a while that all the locations would be similar. However, not all are created equally. I was greeted, I found handfuls of things to try, I was ushered to a fitting room, complimented on my choices and checked out efficiently after making my final selections. Done and done. And I didn't once feel out of place or not cool enough to be shopping there. I was surprised that they had a fairly decent selection of Large tops, many thrift places don't purchase anything that's bigger then a medium. So I'm very happy for that - I have a DDD chest people, even at my slimmest I can't stuff these bad boys into a medium. Avoid downtown at all costs and try this location! read more

Look elsewhere to sell your items. I took a very large tote full of items, probably worth over $200, into the store on June 13. I told the young girl who took my items that I did not want her to take the tote that all of the items were in, it was an important tote and wasn't for sale. She said no problem. She told me I could wait in the store for them to go through my things, or I would get a courtesy call letting me know when my items were ready to pick up. Three days went by and I never got a call, so I rang them to ask if my things were ready. They said yes, come in anytime and pick up your remaining items - they apologized saying that the girl working that day forgot to call me. I told them I wouldn't be able to pick up the items for another couple of days and she said she would make note of it and that is fine, she said "come in anytime". I went in to pick up my $17 and my remaining items to find that everything has been donated and I was never notified...Never received a phone call or an email. When I was clearly upset, all the employees could tell me was that it was their policy that if customers don't pick up their items within 3 days they would be donated, and told me to go to the Savers down the road and see if I could find my items. It would be understandable to have this happen if I had clearly understood their "policies" but they were never explained to me by the girl working on June 13. This company really needs to work on training their employees to clearly explain policies when other people's belongings are at stake, and to work on customer service. Yes, I'm aware I took the items there to sell because I didn't want them anymore. What I'm more upset about is how this company handled everything. From every situation there can be something gained... I guess this time it's a whopping $17 and a lesson learned to never bring items here again. read more

Not one classy piece of clothing in this place. Second time I've been here. I thought it might be because they just don't get people bringing good stuff in so I brought in 4 bags of hardly used Nordstrom and Anthropologie clothes, some Aldo shoes and 3 pair of Linea Paolo shoes. I also had some Buffalo men's shirts. My husband works for Nordstrom and since I've had a baby I had to get rid of a lot of great clothes. They didn't want any of it. I shopped around and all they had were clothes that looked like they were rejected from the Goodwill. I've actually been to the Goodwill down the street looking for a vase and I saw way better stuff there. Won't be going back. read more
