We were here with a large group and had the entire upstairs rented out to our company. Our service was excellent and so was the food. I would definitely go back and hopefully try more beers. The Moscow miles were delicious and so was the American wheat. read more

Look, let's be honest. This is Omaha, and there is pretty much nothing to do here. I learned this much during my one day stay on my way to Chicago. However, Omaha does have 2 redeeming qualities: DIRT CHEAP rent and amazing steaks. I ordered the Rib-Eye steak cooked medium. This steak was as juicy as they get and the Sriracha-mayo that comes with it was amazing (I'm a sriracha fan). The vegetables on the side were okay, but who cares?? The steak was satisfying and went really well with the 23oz Firehouse beer that I ordered on the side! That being said, I would never come back to Omaha again, but if I found myself here in a dream, I would grab myself a steak while I'm at it. read more

Havent really spent much time in Omaha so I ask the locals what I needed to eat. And everyone says Omaha Steaks. I can be down for a good steak. But unfortunately I did not encounter a good steak. I ordered the 8oz filet mignon. What a mistake that was. It was a little undercooked (i asked for medium) and it just wasnt a good cut of meat. Very disappointing. Even the "whipped" potatoes were a little too stiff for my taste. However...the meal also included eggplant fries and a bacon bleu cheese aioli. These items were great. I started with the gouda & beer soup and that was excellent as well. The service was wonderful too. I just had a bad piece of meat. I would definitely come back to try some other items on their menu, just not a steak. I didnt get a chance to try any of the beers either, so maybe next time. read more

What happened to your pot roast?? I have eaten at Upstream for over 25 years and the pot roast was always my favorite meal. I live in Chicago now and whenever I come back to Omaha, I loom forward to the pot roast at Upstream. It has always been consistently awesome over the years. I ate there last night and was so disappointed. It was...OK, but wasn't nearly as tender and savory as it has always been over the years. I hope this was just an off night for the kitchen. read more

Seriously well crafted beer... A very good food selection... If in Omaha again (don't ask) I'll be back! read more

I had an excellent experience at Upstream in the Old Market area of Omaha. I'd highly recommend sampling some of their microbrews. The Raspberry Ale was my favorite and had just a hint of berry flavor without being too sweet. The artichoke dip appetizer was delicious but a little on the salty side. Best for sharing with a few people. Finally, the fish and chips were some of the best I've ever had. They use Atlantic Cod battered with a special beer mix and it was quite tasty. If you're looking for a lovely patio area, a nice selection of beer, great food and people watching, Upstream is the place to go! read more

Every time I'm in OMA I end up at Upstream Brewing Company. They provide consistently good service, food, and beer. I like that there is always an open seat at the bar. Portion size is large... I don't think I've ever finished a full entrée but somehow can't leave without a piece of Caramel Bread Pudding. Bartenders are knowledgeable about both menus (food and drink) as well as the seasonal beer selection. Even the security guy is welcoming... read more

I want to give it more stars, but I know it would be because it was a perfect outdoor eating weather experience. The beer sampler was interesting, with some excellent beers (the bitter, the Baltic porter) and some boring ones that tasted like Miller lite. Our toasted bread appetizer was gross, but my pork schnitzel was actually quite well executed. The bacon smashed potatoes had more of a gratin texture, but tasted good. I don't know if I'd recommend this place, but it most definitely wasn't gross. read more

-Sunday brunch buffet for only $16. -Good variety of draft beers; extra points for having a Day-Man Hefeweizen and Night-Man dunkelweizen combination -Tons of outdoor seating; try the 2nd floor roof for easy access to the pool tables. read more

I got the ribeye and it was cooked just how I wanted it which was good, but it was very bland and had no seasoning. My girlfriend got the raspberry chicken and she said that too was also very bland. We were fooled by the nice pictures and great ambience. The food was sub par and we are very disappointed. The service and drinks were great though! read more

I didn't eat, so this review is based solely on the atmosphere, service, and their Tour of Tastes (or whatever it was called--the twelve shot sampler of beer they have). We had a great time and the waiter was very helpful and attentive to our group. The beer was good, and Upstream has the first IPA I've ever been able to stand; I usually hate IPA, but theirs was surprisingly good. I usually dislike light beers and their light was also fantastic, but the pale ale was terrible to me and it took a very long time for me to get through those two ounces. All-in-all, the Tour was a great collection of beers, almost all delicious, and I definitely recommend giving it a try. The Tour was $12, if I recall correctly, for twelve 2 oz. shots of different beers brewed by Upstream. read more

I ordered a Asian chicken salad for lunch. It was spicy, flavorful, small, and good. The price was a tad high, and there wasn't anything really "Special" to the Salad. It was to be served with bread, but it wasn't. I let the waiter know. He brought out bread about 5 min later and apologized. So..... I am not quite sure how to rate this place? The service, excellent, the price, above avg, the atmosphere, a lil loud. So many of my friends RAVE this place is the best, well, I am not a really good cook, but have made a Asian chicken salad that tasted about the same. If you are on a date, do not go here. If you are wanting to be a douche bag and fit in with the crowd, PERFECT PLACE! Once again, good, but not extraordinary. Atmosphere is loud and kinda snobby. read more

Okay let's just say I'm guilty. I've been to Upstream many times over the past twenty years and this is the first time I've reviewed it. Amazing how one can take a place for granted and never acknowledge the fact they are doing an amazing job. Beer is beyond good, and since it's a sister brewery of the Wyncoop in Denver, it has to be in that excellent category. But an excellent place for a great breakfast before the farmers market. And to break tradition.... a spicy Mary! Yum plus this makes the attitude so much better. The breakfast menu has been reduced since the CoVID thing so some of the items are missing. But what is there is delicious. So stop in for a nosh and a brew, it will tend to make your day better....I promise. read more

Rating is a soft three and it mostly based on past dining at this and the west locations. Brought my family of 12 in on Sunday for our anniversary lunch. Several of us decided to go with the brunch buffet, even though at nearly $17 (adults) ($7 or so for kids down to three) it seemed expensive. Server was good and pleasant throughout and was kind enough to split our bill in two checks. At the buffet many of the items were not warm and should have been, but the real problem was the meat carving station and omelet bar. The server at the meat station was off chatting with someone when I arrived and after moment or two came over, and without a sound sliced me 1 piece of beef and backed away. Might have wanted two pieces but he didn't seem interested. Came back with my granddaughter as she wanted an omelet. He came over and she asked what she could have in it and he motioned to 8 or so plastic buckets near by. We had to walk around the station to see what was in them. Her omelet once completed was small and was as skinny an omelet as I have ever seen, not like Grandmothers use to make. I guess in hindsight I would not go with the buffet and would just stick to the items on the menu. read more

Wow after a few let downs this week dinning in Omaha. Our last night we decided to order in. The food was amazing. Husband had fish and chips. He is from Massachusetts so he knows good fish and chip. He was very pleased. I ordered mac and cheese with blackened chicken. Was fantastic. We enjoyed the pretzel covered cheese curds. But the biggest hit was the bread pudding outstanding. I believe my husband scraped the container clean. The sauce was out of this world. Best part they packed everything so nice and neatly. Definitely going or ordering out from them the next time we are in Omaha. read more

I had the blackened burger and it was so good definitely exceeded expectations. Everything was super fresh and tasted amazing. Had great food so giving five stars our server however wasn't the best but from what i could see it was exclusive to our table so I wouldn't expect it normally. read more

I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken. There are many tables to play pool on while waiting for your food. Pros: Food is good, and the waitress was very friendly. 18% gratuity for parties of 8 or more. They brew their own root beer, very good. Cons: Alcoholic atmosphere, so may not be for very young kids. Not too bad though, comparable to applebees. read more

How can anyone rate Upstream Brewing Company any less than five stars??? This place is awesome! I got the 11 beer sampler. Most brewpubs I go to only offer six beers within the sample. 11 is by far the most I've ever gotten in a sampler. I was surprised by how good some of the lighter beers were. The waitress was like "This one is sorta like Michelob Light, that one is sorta light budweiser..."--trying to make comparisons to mainstream beers. I guess for people who don't know beer, you sorta have to do that, but it's just SO WRONG to compare any of these beers to crap like Budwesier and Michelob. She should have added at the end of her presentation "BUT these beers are SO MUCH better than that sh*t beer I just mentioned!" It literally took the whole meal to get through all eleven beers. I started out with the pub salad with basil vinaigrette; one of the best starter salads I've ever had. Then had my main course--the jambalaya. Oh man, it was so good! Just the right amount of spiciness--a lot of kick but not so hot that I have to drink a glass of water after each bite. I saw someone else order the fish and chips. I spent six months in the UK last year and since I've been back, I haven't been able to find fish and chips as good as what I had in England. But this fish and chips looked like what I had in England! I was kicking myself for not ordering it! Anyway. You must visit Upstream. Even if you're just driving through, you must stop in and have a drink. read more

Let me just say, I love old town. You can satisfy your palate at every corner. On the evening we came to UBC I found myself craving steak. Now, from what I hear, Nebraska is known for two things, corn...and beef. Needless to say I ordered steak, an Omaha steak mind you, so I was expecting it to be delicious. The server was GREAT! Kept checking up on us, asking if we needed anything, so I knew that if I needed her, she would be there despite it being so busy. My steak came out with the arugula salad and fries. The salad was delicious only because I love arugula, I cant say anything about it was memorable despite it being something other than lettuce. Same goes for the fries, nothing special. I cut into my steak (I ordered it rare because lets face it, you need to be able to TASTE the meat and not just the seasoning) and its MEDIUM WELL! UGH....HOW HARD IS IT TO COOK A STEAK RARE?!?!!*ahem, rant done* Needless to say I returned my steak....yup I am ONE OF THOSE who return their food if I don't find it satisfactory...Once they brought back the food the steak was good. I will be returning to this place to try more of their selection and to see whether or not they get a higher score. They were able to get a three star because of the great service the waitress gave us. Very helpful, very attentive and I am happy to go back if she's our waitress. read more

Upstream Brewing - Bars Near Me - Omaha, Nebraska

Awesome location in Omaha's old railroad part of town. It's a brewery with the emphasis tilted more towards restaurant than taproom. Came with a larger group, and my experience was just okay overall. Our beers took an uncomfortably long amount of time to come out from a brewery. The beef stroganoff was nothing to write home about... just about what you'd expect ordering beef stroganoff at a place specializing in bar food. I'd give them another try with a smaller group an appetite for burgers. read more

The first time i went here was a few years ago during a frenetic weekend rocking the midwest with my younger brother; i'd gotten off the plane in Omaha a half-hour earlier, so clearly we had to get some beer as soon as possible. It was 11am. This is perfectly normal for us, i assure you. So we drank some beer and ate some food and were off to a fine start. More recently, i was back there, with much of the same people, but had to take it a little easy since some of us had to drive to Kansas City shortly thereafter. The beer's good, still, and i drank plenty, as we savored numerous appetizers and a late lunch. In particular, the stout and IPA combine for a really great black and tan, in addition to standing well on their own (the latter in particular is tasty without being overpowering). The food's really good, too; and pretty reasonably priced. i liked the crispy-crusted pizza quite a lot. i'm not really sure how the playing cards got on the ceiling (someone said it involved a magician), but i'm sure it is interesting. Also, i noticed they have billiards; not sure if that was always the case, but if i lived around there, i could see myself spending a lot of time and money there. If you should find yourself in Omaha, drink beer here. read more

This place would be a five-star hangout if they could only keep their best workers, instead only the "blah" or bad workers remain. It's easy to tell when you only drop into a place every year or two. Otherwise, the environment is awesome, both stories offering great decor and good service. There is no longer smoking here, just as in all other Omaha stores, but that isn't something they can fix all by themselves. It is rather annoying, however, as the pool hall upstairs immediately makes one want to smoke and ya just can't muster up any draw to play without it. The beers are awesome, the food is awesome and the price--while a bit costly--is well worth the taste. read more

I really enjoy the variety they have on their menu, a place you can take large groups and at that not have to worry someone wouldn't see something they like. Multiple levels in the establishment and can handle large parties with ease. Something about this place when you walk in is very welcoming and mesmerizing at the same time. Always a good time, there's patio seating on the street level and upper outside deck. read more

So, now I've been to both locations. I should probably review the other one, but not yet. I go for the black bean burger. I stay for the beer. All the beers are well crafted, yet some stand out more than others. (Doppelsticke, anyone?) However, the more I reflect on my brewpub experiences, the more I realize that I really appreciate the beers more than the food. It seems to be a rare thing that the food stands up to the quality of the beer. Ladyface in Agoura, CA & Pizza Port in Carlsbad/San Clemente, CA come to mind as those rare things. So, I'd encourage most people to find a nice restaurant they like and eat there, grab beers here before or after. Lastly, if there's a huge line to sit inside, try to seat yourself outside... if the weather's nice. It'll save you time and sanity. read more

Not great. The beers are good enough, but within the range of small brewers around the country these rate as average offerings. Locals seem to think it's the bomb. Very popular. I have eaten here twice and both times the food was significantly overcooked. We had to go track down a waiter the last time I ate there. You can do better for a meal, but for a fast beer or two it's fine. read more

I was in town on business and stopped in for something to eat as well as get a few drinks. They have a wide selection of crafts beers. I tried several and thought they were all good. Being of German descent I had to try to pork schnitzel which did not disappoint. Traveled to Omaha from Chicago for the Great Apes Book Club. The four of us are craft beer drinkers two of us from Chicago and two from Fort Collins. We know our brew. Beer was above average for all of us. In fact, thougougly enjoyable and interesting. All four of us had 2 beers each and most of us tried two different beers. We filled a grower of the Pale Ale. If it is your first time it would be worth trying a flight of beers at this brewery. The food was standard fare and nothing bad, nothing outstanding. Emily our server was outstanding. She was a top notch server We'd all drink the beer again but we all agreed it was Emily and her service that would make us go back to Upstream. read more

Disappointed!!!! Great reviews drew us in for a much needed date night. Pretzel appetizer was gross. They were soo hard to eat. They tasted like they were previously disengage then cooked in microwave them left out which resulted in hard dense pretzel bites. We were very much looking forward to date night so we didn't eat much that day so we ate the nasty pretzel bites anyway. They were so heavy!!!! Husband got bbq pork sandwich that he said was only ok. I got the mac and cheese and added the blackened chicken for $4..... more like a toddler portion of chicken. Not worth the $20 for my meal. Bread pudding was good but not enough to draw us back. Apparently this place is known for their beer and beverages which seems you have to be drunk to enjoy the food. Also service lacked big time. Waitress didn't come around enough. Even next table had to wait on her a couple times AND she didn't even put in their appetizer order on time so it arrived after their main meal. Overall...prerzel bites we're hard tasteless and overpriced for what you get, $4 was a joke to charge for a few pieces of chicken add on to my meal, service was slow and lacking in professionalism. We won't be back!!!! read more
