If you find an exception, don't tell anyone. Guard it as a family secret and will it to your favorite offspring. Otherwise, plan to circle and know there's more parking in the northeast corner. Service was terrible. The two ladies at the front could not assign tables to incoming customers. One older lady told us to just move to the right because other parties came in and they struggled how to assign tables. However because of that they then lost order of who came in. When finally seated our waiter didn't tend to us because after 10 mins of just sitting there he said he wasn't told they assigned our table to him. Food is expensive and mediocre. We ordered a burger, a soup and two kids meals. Not worth the price. The soup "curry soup" came out cold and my kids pizza crust was non-existent. Nothing was actually delicious. Consistently good service and food in the old market. They have a nice selection of food and beers. My colleagues seem to like the pork schnitzel and get it pretty much every time and rave. I've tried the fish and chips and mac and cheese and quite a few other things over time. This beer battered fish and chips were done well with just the right amount of breading to be delicious but not overkill. We also tried the cheese curds and the baked pretzels. This was a great stop off while exploring the Old Market area of Downtown Omaha. We stopped in for a few appetizers and drinks. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our table. We were bar hopping as you should in Old Market Omaha, and found ourselves at this fantastically chill patio. Our server (wish I could remember her name to give her a shout-out) made our experience fantastic! We had the best weather tourists could hope for, delicious drinks, an amazing summer berry burrata (super unique and a ton of food!), and a spacious patio experience. The inside had tons of space on every level, and I believe they even were hosting a groom's dinner that night. The reason I'm giving this only 4 stars is it took us about 15 minutes to get situated on this patio- as the host wasn't the most friendly or accommodating and they attempted to sit us on the un-appealing rooftop patio at first, about a mile walk from the entrance and next to the absolutely loudest air conditioning unit I've ever heard. Another great visit to Upstream! I stopped in this afternoon for lunch with a friend. I don't normally order root beer, but wanted to try the house-made root beer today. I loved it and will definitely be ordering next time I return! The service was good and the server came around to check on us a few times. Love the ambiance, old building is completely redone. Large brewing tanks in full view behind a glass wall. Most of the beer, maybe all of it as I didn't check this is made on the site.. I like that the beer is available in a variety of styles. It rotates so be aware probably what you liked the last time isn't currently available. The last time we were there were able to walk right in and sit even though not late on a Saturday night, but don't count on it as have had to wait. During the summer there is outside seating with a nice patio. I had the roast beef and she had the Pork Schnitzel. Trie to order the Bangers and Mash, but was told they didn't have it. Not sold out, just didn't have it. Downgraded for this. Might not be completely fair, but if out tell people if simply now serving it take off the menu. Service was very good, she was 'around' but didn't hover. Polite and knew what was on the menu and able to answer questions. Would very much recommend for good food and beer. To start, my glass had lipstick from the previous drinker on it. Not a small amount, but fill on lips from someone's lipstick. It was very apparent that this cup had either not been washed, or their dishwasher is under qualified. The waitress didn't seem too shocked by it, didn't even apologize. My steak then came out blue rare when it was ordered medium rare. The waitress again didn't not seem to see an issue with this. The service from the waitress was lackluster, to say the least. We had empty drinks for the majority of our dinner. She wasn't very friendly either, until it came time to pay and get her tip, at which point she basically stood over me while I paid. Looking for something to eat on a Friday night around 9 pm so had limited options. I am so glad we chose this place! We were seated right away in the dining room. They also have outdoor seating but it was pretty full. Place was very comfortable. Our server was pretty good. She didn't check back for drinks as much as I would have liked but overall decent. I ordered the tomato soup and it was delicious!! Best I have ever had hands down. The garden salad was fresh and totally yummy! It was the perfect size for dinner. We walked in on a Saturday at 4:45p hoping to get a table for 9 (without a reservation). 2 hosts hem-hawed around and didn't think they could help us. Another hostess came up and asked what we were needing. She said give me a few minutes and let me see what I can do. She worked her magic and we were seated with the understanding that we had to be out by 6:45! What a sweetheart, only wish I knew her name. Our server was outstanding and took great care of us. The Upstream has long been one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. Never had a bad meal there. They offer a great selection of delicious beers and yummy appetizers. Their soups are flavorful and really warm you up on those cold nights walking around downtown. Their pizzas are hearty and offer a vast selection for everyone to enjoy. I recently ordered their artichoke dip to go, because it is legit one of my FAVORITE things in the world. It's so creamy and savory. Plus that toasted wheat bread is like crack. It's just the PERFECT combination of textures and flavors. And this time was no exception. The only downside was that there wasn't nearly enough dip and I had three pieces of bread left over plus veggies. The container it came in was pretty small and the dip itself is a little on the pricey side (but not unreasonably so). It would've been nice to have a bit more artichoke dip to enjoy with all the vessels it came with. But that's really my only critique. Today's afternoon Sunday dinner was most disappointing. The start of our meal began with a cup of cream of mushroom and blue cheese soup. Each of us took one spoonful, set it down, and said no more. The soup, having chunks of roast beef added, had the appearance of brown beef gravy. And what was worse, was that it was so salty, that I could feel a sense of subtle burning on my palate. the soup was promptly returned to the kitchen. I ordered the pork schnitzel entree, supposed to have warm German potato salad, and red cabbage. Two classic sides that many schnitzel dinners have. The German potato salad consisted of warmed up little cubes of frozen breakfast potatoes, seasoned with "who knows" what, and with dinky bits of bacon. I have had countless orders of German potato salad, and this was just the worst. The red cabbage was another disaster. Dark purple-ish red it was not. Rather, this side dish consisted of large chucks of red cabbage, that was clearly not slow cooked, it looked more like the cabbage was microwaved, coming out a pale pinkish lavendar hue. The schnitzel cutlet looked okay, but had a strange flavor. Took me several bites to confirm that it had been seasoned with garlic. Who puts garlic seasoning into a German schnitzel cutlet. So, right now, I am belching up repeat flavors of this garlic, and if I don't break out the Alka Seltzer, I am destined for a most uncomfortable night. My dates dinner was equally, if not, a bigger disappointment . Beef Pot Roast was her selection, with mashed 'taters, and seasonal vegetables. She just could not eat this dinner. First, the mashed 'taters were full of garlic, an INTENSE amount of garlic. Second, the beef roast was drenched in gravy, that was so salty, it was inedible. Finally, the seasonal vegetables (carrots, summer squash, broccoli and onion) were barely seasonal, unless one considers rubbery veggies straight from the HyVee frozen foods aisle to be in season. By the way our waitress was a delightful, sweet gal, very engaging with a wonderful sense of humor. She was so very apologetic for how the kitchen chef had prepared these dishes. Oh, the flight of beers I had were wonderful, and my dates glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay was refreshingly delicious. read more

Second time around I ordered the Gouda and beer cheese soup...the beer cheese soup was by far my favorite. The taste was amazing, and I can't imagine ordering anything else from there lol. Our server was great, the beers were great, and food was great. I wish I could give higher than a five star review honestly. I highly recommend checking out the breads they have to purchase before you leave. We grabbed the Devil's Food cake, bread, and the apple cinnamon bread...both were perfect for a dessert or breakfast. We were in town for a long weekend and came here on the recommendations of the hotel staff. It was a Saturday night and it was very busy. We were able to get a table inside without waiting too long. Our server was fantastic. He was friendly, easygoing, helpful, and just a really nice guy. He took our order quickly and got the drinks out, etc. I had to send my drink back because it was a jack and coke that was 99% jack. If I was in my 20's I would have been pumped but it was undrinkable. So they brought me a side of coke with ice to cut the drink a bit. The food came out after waiting a while, but it was so busy that I chalked it up to that. Saturday night dinner service is always tight. We ordered cheeseburgers and fries to keep things simple. But, it is a massive place. - Beers were ok...I got a flight and it was good, but the variety of beers was a bit limited from my perspective. - Food was good. Both my wife and daughter got the Grilled Romaine and Steak salad with blue cheese and loved it. I got the Orange Infused Pickled Beet salad, which was very good, but the beets tasted more as if they had been roasted versus pickled (which was a good thing from my perspective). The ambiance was casual, nice place to have a casual sit down meal a step above from an Olive Garden, but not too fancy. The drinks were great and reasonably priced, but the food was just OK. Well, this place has changed! Typically when I start a review with that it is followed by a litany of reasons why an establishment has lost compelling reasons to visit. The opposite is true in this case. The Upstream has significantly modernized their menu, while at the same time keeping some of the best loved items consistent. For me, the Upstream had always been a place to bring out of town family or friends to when we happened to be visiting the Old Market. It was a place where I, as a foodie, could get a palatable culinary experience while ensuring Uncle Bob could get french fries with his meal. Nothing ever blew my mind but it was safe and reliable. It seems that there is a fresh focus on harnessing the historic anchor status of this establishment while at the same time trying in discriminating pallets looking for hearty yet inventive dishes. The atmosphere is as cozy as it has ever been. In fact, best I can tell this has not changed. But the stuff that really matters has changed a lot. Significantly renewed focus on improving and expanding their brewing prowess is evident. Well the menu still retains some stable upscale bar food items there is a massive infusion of really solid appetizers and entrées. We started with a wild boar wurst charcuterie plate in Korean fried cauliflower. Both were solid winners.The fish and chips is undoubtedly one of the best in the city. The Tuscan shrimp pasta it's very well executed. And finally the grilled ribeye with a Gorgonzola cream sauce and wild boar potato hash was fantastic. Whether I dine in or get takeout, the Upstream is now firmly back on my list of strong considerations for regular dining in Omaha. Way to go Upstream!! read more

We used to love going to the the Upstream after the farmers market on Saturdays, NOT ANY MORE. My wife and I would go in, have a beer and share a bowl of soup (usually the soup of the day). They used to offer a 12 or 16 oz beer. They got rid of the 16 oz and jacked up the price of the 12 oz, strike one. As an appetizer, they had Shrimp Diavolo. It was delicious. Now that's gone, strike two. Final straw was when the jacked up the price of a bowl of soup from $8 to $12. Seriously? The soup was usually very good, but not $12 good. Strike Three!!!. Needless to say, we will not be going to the Upstream anymore. They can keep their over priced food and beer. read more

Great food and AMAZING SERVICE!! We went there for dessert after dinner for my bday, and our server Torrance was so freaking sweet!! She waived my dessert check and gave me a free drink too!! We had a party of 6 and she took great care of everyone. It was a rough night since our dinner place was super pretentious but Torrance made our night and I really loved the homemade root beer! Great experience I'll definitely go back for more!! Not to mention that my company just had our annual summit dinner there and everything was DELICIOUS!!
