Food was good but didn't like sitting in the bar area and our table being waited on by the bar tender. Busy place to say the least! We had reservations. read more

What a great place! We were in Omaha 4 days and went here twice. The food was excellent and so was the beer. The Hot Artichoke Cheese Dip appetizer was AMAZING. They used their own house made seasoned beer bread to dip into the incredible dip. The staff was friendly and the food came very quickly. Whether you stop for just drinks, food, or both, you can't go wrong. read more

Good food. Great beer I ordered the chicken with gnocchi. The gnocchi was undercooked but the flavor was great. Huge wedge of beer bread to soak up the sauce. My only real complaint is that I would have liked a side of the blue cheese mashed potatoes that advertised as a special but the waitress said they couldn't sell that on its own, it had to come with a steak dinner. Huh? All in all it was a great place. read more

This was my first meal in Omaha, and of course, you have to have an Omaha steak! I chose a medium rare ribeye, my favorite cut of beef. I was surprised at how tough it was! Although perfectly cooked in the middle, I really needed to saw my steak while cutting. The NY strip steak I had earlier in the week in Houston was a MUCH more tender steak; knife slices were effortless. I was confused because usually a ribeye is more tender than a strip steak. Maybe it's because of the dry rub this restaurant uses? If I ever visit again, I would definitely recommend ordering without anything on the steak (except for salt and pepper) to try for itself, but maybe that's the Texan in me LOL. Not only am I giving two stars for the toughness of the second most expensive menu item, but service was molasses. It took about 10 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge my existence despite visiting all other tables around me. The whole process of ordering, receiving food, eating, and requesting the bill (took 10 minutes) took about 50 minutes for one person. I only spent about 20 minutes eating. I think this restaurant needs to realize the faster you can turn over tables, the more money you can generate! read more

We were in town for a volleyball tourney and were looking for a place to have team dinner on a Saturday night with about 25 people. Good luck during COVID, right? One of the team parents called numerous places without success. When she called Upstream they said, "We can figure that out. Let's do 7:30." They were able to seat us all upstairs at the back at multiple tables. They did a fantastic job keeping track of players and tabs. The service was perfect. My jambalaya was excellent and, as you'd except, they had a solid menu of beer choices. read more

We had dinner here tonight. Lovely area of Omaha. Weather was nice and we sat outside. My husband ordered the BBQ hamburger with slaw and I ordered the pork schnitzel with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. My husband said the hamburger was good but had no BBQ sauce on it and the slaw was very sour. My schnitzel lacked flavor, the vegetables were cold and I think old but the potatoes were good. Service was nice and we did express my disappointment with the vegetables. The place was fairly crowded with locals so obviously it's a popular spot. read more

This restaurant could not have been better. The space is gorgeous- there was something cool to look at everywhere you turned. We ordered the cheese curd appetizer that were pretzel crusted with a raspberry-habanero sauce. My parents and I agreed they were some of the best cheese curds we've ever had (and we're from MN and very close to the cheese curd capital of the world). I ordered the special mac & cheese which had andouille sausage and blackened shrimp. It was so good I wish I could have eaten it all but it was a heavy (still delicious), cheesy dish. I got a flight of 4 beers, my choice, that I think only cost $6 which was a steal! And for dessert my parents and I shared the creme brulee trio with three flavors of creme brulee that were all quite tasty. All in all, this brewery is fantastic and if I'm ever back in Omaha, I know where I'm headed first. read more

Quality taproom/restaurant in Omaha, might be the most well known in Omaha, I had 2 beers and liked them both, they were the IPA and APA, it's a big building with lotsa space, I liked the decor, didn't get to try any of the food, but it looks like a pretty legit menu, would gladly go back if ever in the area again read more

Killing time in my home town of omaha. Needed some adult time. This place sits in a old firehouse brick structure well decorated they have a master brew master that they most serve their own brews. Ask for a fat tire and no can do. They offer eight brews. Smacked on a grilled chickens and a outstanding cucumber salad. Crowded for a Saturday night. Parking was a bitch to find. If in the old market area please check out this place. read more

Thank you to Kayla! You and the rest of the staff were 5 Stars for sure, especially you. The restaurant is nicely decorated in a traditional brew pub style, and is kept quite clean. Our service was impeccable from the front door to payment. The food was good as a whole. Two of us had the Salmon and opted to sub patatoes for the lentils, the fish itself was flavorful and cooked properly. The potato's I opted for were bland but the mushroom gravy I had was a good option. We also had the Jambalaya and my son LOVED it, and he was appropriately sweating after his meal. My wife had the Schnitzel and was really underwhelmed. The "garlic aïoli was good" was the comment after dinner. The veggie mix seemed like it might have been previously frozen. The awesome service will keep us coming back! read more

The bacon wrapped shrimp with cabbage and sweet potato shoestrings... AMAZING! Although I didn't have the steaks, they looked really good and not for a small appetite. I sat at the bar, the bar staff were friendly and efficient and all helped each other's customers. It was a bit busy because of College World Series folks but staff were friendly and appeared eager to please. Glad I passed up a couple other places to find this one. read more

Went there with 4 people. Everyone loved their meal, I got the rib eye special -cooked medium rare. It's was slightly more red than anticipated but tender and delicious all the same. Someone else got the blackened chicken pasta which looked a lot like a everything Mac and cheese with sausage, green pepper, mushrooms, and maybe some other things. He said it had a surprising amount of siracha and had a bit of heat but he finished. Another friend for the rib eye special and another got the jambalaya. Everyone cleaned their plate even though we were all given hefty portions. read more

My husband and I visited tonight. The restaurant was super busy and there was a long wait but because we were only a couple, we were seated right away. The hosting staff and our waitress were very friendly. Our food came very quickly. Both my blackened salmon and my husband's burger were both quite dry. read more

This place has a very good ambience, friendly staff and great food menu. Since this is a brewery, we were expecting a lot more variety of beers on their menu. They only have a few kinds of beer and most of them were just bland and no proper flavour. read more

I'll start with the good. Our service was great. The atmosphere is neat and we enjoyed eating upstairs. The beer cheese soup is awesome! I loved it. Update: Upstream contacted me after reading this review and looked into all the food that I ate while there. I appreciated that so I bumped them up to 3 stars. I still believe some of the food is lacking in flavor and brewery uniqueness. On to the bad. I got sick an hour after eating. On the toilet sick. Yuck! I had the pot roast. It was super tender, which was nice. The flavor or lack of wasn't great. It came with mashed potatoes which I thought were awful. A lady near me ordered the same and I heard her say "these potatoes are awesome". The potatoes were not awesome. I kept trying them to figure out what the flavor was and I just couldn't figure it out. The brown gravy they put over all of it does not taste good. The vegetables that came with it were okay, but lacked any kind of seasoning and were slightly overlooked and not because they were cooked with the roast, because they definitely were not. I think the chef needs to work on seasoning his dishes. Also, I get that this is Nebraska, but it's not a steak house. It's a brewery and the dishes should reflect that. A smaller portion and more gourmet or even some uniqueness would be the way to go with this dish. Hold the brown gravy, really! read more

Trendy and spacious, on two floors. It feels more like a restaurant than a brewery. The beer cheese soup is as good as advertised. I also enjoyed the steak salad. The service was prompt and professional. A little on the pricey side. read more

So I've been here on almost all my business trips to Omaha. Food and beer are still good and worth it. I must say though that they have no idea how to serve courses. People get an appetizer because they want to relax before dinner. Now dinner - brought literally 3-4 minutes after apps which were still being eaten. I hate that. I want a break in between and dont want a table stuffed with plates. Anyway, I still recommend read more

The quaint and eclectic marketplace location draws you in ... but, it's the food that keeps you coming in! So just GO! Yum yum yum!! And for anyone Covid concerned, they spread out seatings for inside dining tables , all staff and patrons (when not seated ) wear masks and there's purell at the entrance. Robert, our waiter, was the perfect balance of just the right amount of friendly and attentive... but the best part-the food! Creamy, fresh artichoke dip served with beer soaked bread for dippin, and a juicy, tasty cooked just right burger or flavorful also juicy NY strip (son had) with just the right amount of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside sweet potato waffle fries - we were SOLD!! But yes, the whole point of the brewery - the beer- a perfect accompaniment! I don't remember which one my son chose, but I chose the first one on the list - it was refreshing, light and crisp! Perfect! Delicious! Go! read more

Was looking coward to this cool looking restaurant in the Old Market. The food came out being... meh. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The Gouda grits had a good flavor that was overwhelmed by a huge amount of diced onions and peppers. The shrimp might've been good if they hadn't also been chopped up. The choice of chopping up shrimp for shrimp and grits is an interesting choice. I wouldn't recommend this dish at all. My child had the Mac n cheese. I'm glad I didn't order the adult version because it was the blandest Mac n cheese ever. It was like cavatappi in a yellow watery sauce. His french fries were good though. I "think" he was also supposed to get some kind of kids dessert like a little root beer float but the server never mentioned it. I didn't mention it because after our food we waited forever to get a check or a growler. The restaurant seemed to get way busier than their staff could handle. My husband's burger was overall good and the sweet potato fries were basic. Overall, a very mediocre experience. read more

Beautiful outdoor patio, pleasant ambience, and delicious hamburgers. The seasonal beers can't be missed, no matter your personal taste.

We brought friends from out of town here today and I didn't think that it was up to the usual mark. We had 2 hamburgers, black bean burger, & tomato soup. It felt like it took forever to get our food, even though the place wasn't even close to being packed. We really wanted to get root beer but they were out, so then someone asked about the pretzel bun only to find out again that hey we're out. Not a big deal so we went about our business. My friend asked for a coke after getting his first drink only to still not have it 20 mins later. When he asked the waitress again she said whoops give me a sec and took off. Still no coke so he asked her again a few minutes later and said forget it. I'll come back again but hopefully the service will go back to what I'm used to here. read more

The actual best falafel I've ever had. Seriously I've walked past this place 300x at least but because I'm not a big drinker I've never come in, but I went with a group of beer drinkers who chose this spot and I'm so glad they did! I ended up ordering a prickly pear type of martini that was fantastic, so fantastic I had more than one. We all shared the artichoke dip which was truly 10/10, super creamy and served with toast that was super rich with great flavor. And then there was the falafel.. I've had a lot of falafels and this was the best. The hummus, sauce, pita, all of it was fantastic. I'll be back soon! read more

I used to live in Omaha and visit about once a year. I only started going to this restaurant once I had moved, but now it's a must go whenever I come back. I am from out of town and my family used to come to Omaha every year and would eat here. We haven't got the chance to come up the past couple of years until this weekend and there was no debate on where to eat. My sister is a rootbeer fanatic and claims their rootbeer is the best she's ever had. We both got the Mac and Cheese and it was extremely impressive. Good portion sizes and averagely priced. The mashed potatoes are also to die for! Always a good time here and can't wait till our next visit. read more

Fish tacos are my favorite!! The entire menu will definitely not disappoint. One of my restaurants of choice.

This place is fine. Not great, but fine. I went twice on a recent trip because everyone else wanted to go there- once would have been enough. I had the mac & cheese on one visit which was tasty- very creamy & rich as a mac & cheese should be. The next time I had a dip that had pretzel bites, also yummy but not enough pretzels for the dip. My table tore through them. I also had their signature gouda beer soup- it was tasty enough. I think everyone can find something to eat here so I understand the appeal, but there are definitely better places to eat in town. read more

We ate here for dinner early on a Saturday evening and were seated right away. They do have options for outdoor seating that's "seat yourself". The noise level was average, especially considering Nebraska football was on! Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, and recommended a couple things based on our order. We had the fried cheese curds as an appetizer, and they were unique and delicious! The sauce was a habanero sauce, but wasn't that spicy. We ordered the burger with the cucumber salad and the blonde pizza with chicken. The pizza didn't actually come out with chicken as requested, but the waiter brought out a chicken breast layer to put on it and we were compensated on our final bill. The burger was nice and juicy, but the bun was a little too much bun, still delicious. The cucumber salad was unique and had red peppers and onions with a vinegar-based dressing. We would have ordered dessert because it looked delicious, but we were too full! Overall, a good experience. read more

I stopped by Upstream early on a Saturday afternoon. Seating was available both inside and outside. While the indoor dining room was spacious, we opted to sit outside where each window box was full of plants/flowers and each table had an umbrella for shade. The beer flight was just ok. The appetizers were yummy. My favorite was the pretzel crusted cheese curds with BBQ dipping sauce. Our server was attentive and friendly. This is actually like my 5th visit to Upstream over the last several years, but I finally felt compelled to write a review. First and foremost, I believe Upstream to be HIGHLY overrated. Don't let the impressive size of both locations fool you into thinking the food is also amazing. It's very mediocre at best and lacking severely from a value standpoint. The basic things that I've had (pizza, burgers, misc. appetizers) were good, but not great. We ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza and it was a super thin crust and I would consider a light appetizer....for $11.49. See what I mean?! Not a super great value. Their prices are slightly a bit more than other comparable restaurants and I believe that to be in part because they have high operating costs. Here's the thing. I don't mind paying for more if the food is genuinely better. (Think Plank, Blatt, Hiro, etc.) The atmosphere is not bad and the service is *usually* good so there's one star. The food is, as mentioned, very average. I've had worse, but I've certainly had far better. So there's the other star. So in summary, go here if everything else nearby is booked but don't let Upstream be your first choice. read more

Dino O. said it perfectly: Upstream is OVER RATED! I've never really been blown away by any of their food or service and it wasn't until my last visit that I finally decided I don't ever need to go back. The night started off wanting to try two other restaurants that ended up being busy, so out of desperation we ventured into the Upstream. It's a little too big and crowded for my personal taste but it can accommodate any party big or small - but don't waste your time. Our server was crazy rude, when my friend asked the server if they carried Boulevard Wheat Beer his response was "We're a brewery!" - throwing us off guard by the rudeness our response was "Can you suggest something comparable?" We got our drinks and ordered our entrees - getting horrible attitude from the server. We aren't a picky or needy group so I don't know what the problem was. I told him twice my soda was flat before finally he barks to me "I heard you, we're taking care of it!" How did he ever pass the "personality" test they make you take when you apply for a job there? We decided to kill him with kindness and not let the attitude ruin our meal. ... unfortunately the meal was horrible. I ordered a cheese burger that tasted spoiled. Nothing about my meal was good -- and it was a cheeseburger meal!? I could have hit up the dollar menu at McDonalds and saved myself 10$. My friends meals weren't anything the rave about either. The menu isn't very authentic or creative in the first place and after my horrible experience during my last visit I think it's safe to say there are plenty of other great Omaha establishments I can visit to get many of the same items on their menu. Don't waste your time. read more

Upstream is consistently good and has been for well over a decade. Come here when you have a hankering for good beer, good food in a lively atmosphere. Their happy hour might be the best time to go -- $3.30 pints, discounts on apps, plus its not too busy (although it still is busy -- this place always seems to be busy). As Mike S mentioned to me a while ago, Upstream's Flagship IPA is probably the best locally-produced IPA. Agreed. It's hoppy, but not too hoppy. Bitter, but not too-bitter. Almost like the tame IPAs of the East Coast and the wild hops from the West Coast found a balanced middle ground right here in flyover country. So yeah this place get's busy, but it's an Omaha staple with good food and a micro brewery producing some interesting beers. Try their IPA, especially during happy hour. read more

I've been to Nebraska a few times for work and I have to stop by and grab one of these pizzas when I'm the area. The crust is thin, the sauce is delicate and not too heavy. I love seafood so I get extra shrimp. Just a solid pizza overall. Half price on Tuesdays I believe. read more
