drivers package standing against my garage door but Fedx use to do it a lot. I still don't understand why a driver would think it is a good thing to leave a package standing against a garage door. read more

Absolutely the most horrible UPS location in the US. I have had 4.....count them four packages updated in route as "packaged refused, returned by sender" while waiting for items to be delivered, even though I never authorized to have packages sent back. Over the Christmas holiday I had packages mailed and sent back and have never recovered them as I did not know the original sender. Maybe they were gifts, maybe the driver kept them.....I will never know because UPS had no info on them after they were declared "refused" by the driver. Fast forward to today. I'm expecting two packages, I'm tracking two packages and what do you know? They were updated by the driver as returned or rejected. Well that never happened because I was never home to reject them. I have parcel pending and the driver didnt leave packages there either....go figure. I call UPS and the driver claimed my rental office informed him that packages could only be recieved by people on the lease and name on mail boxes. Well that's good because I have both and on top of that....I have parcel pending right there in the lobby! I call UPS, they stop my package from being sent back. Driver is delivering again today. So 9pm comes and still no driver. I call UPS again this time the driver's story is that parcel pending was broken? So let's get this straight, I refused a package, my rental office claimed my name was not on the lease and parcel pending is broken? Okay so where the hell is my package? Oh wait, now UPS driver will deliver in the morning. They apologize and tell me not to worry. Well I just got another message stating that delivery was attempted again at 8:42pm and driver will be back tomorrow before evening....oh really? That's funny because I've been home on the phone with UPS while their driver once again lied about attempting to deliver my package. This is unbelievable! I hate this place! Worst UPS ever! read more

If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. I used UPS to deliver an industrial sewing machine that I recently sold, that is worth $13,000.00, to someone in a GA from VA. This is the branch of UPS that was assigned to pick up said package. I packed my box per the UPS guidelines. I bubble wrapped every little piece and accessory in the box and then put 2 rolls-worth of bubble wrap in all of the open nooks and crannies to ensure that it would be safe. As an extra precaution, I clearly wrote "TOP" and "BOTTOM" largely on two sides of the box and wrote "FRAGILE" going caddy-corner on another side. I noted the fragility in my pickup request. I wanted to make sure that the person who made an extremely large purchase from me was getting the machine in one piece. I would absolutely hate for her to get it and for it not to work. My husband and I set it on our doorstep and I submitted a request for UPS to pick up the package. In my request, I noted that the package weight 110lbs. and that it was very fragile. At noon on the shipping date the delivery driver came to our house to drop other packages off. She then saw my package waiting to be picked up. She pushed it, to test the eight, and said "pssht, forget that," and left. I thought I had maybe not requested a pickup, but only purchased the label, so I sent another pickup request. I checked my Ring doorbell for the rest of the afternoon to make sure that it package was picked up and loaded, and not stolen by some hoodlums. The same driver returned at 3PM (I have the video), on the phone, but with a dolly this time. She flipped my package over, upside down, and over again (about 4 or 5 times) until it was put on the dolly. Not only did she mishandle it, but if you listen closely to the video, you can hear her saying "I like how this box says 'FRAGILE,' what do they think I'm going to do?" (Inaudible) "If you're gonna ship a thing that's 100lbs what do you want me to do with it?" So she knew it was fragile and heavy and continued to treat the package with little care. I have since learned, from UPS and from their website, that it is mandatory for them to have 2 people lift packages over 70 lbs. Where was the 2nd person? Especially if she left and came back, and the weight was submitted within my pickup request. Long story short, the package arrived so damaged and we are now out $13,000.00. There was no insurance (yes, our mistake), but my husband and I have been working to get some restitution for this, because if the package was not handled so negligently, it would not have arrived destroyed in the first place. The destroyed package was shipped back to us, while we were out of town, and this UPS branch said we rejected the package (which is a bold-faced lie), so it was sent BACK to GA. Now we don't even have the machine to attempt to repair. We have been calling and emailing folks for months now (from corporate but also this branch). Last week, we were passed off to some random manager, who said it was just tossed to him (basically to get us to shut up) and that we would be called the next day by noon with an update/solution. We were never called and our calls to them are not being answered. The gist of the story is, if you can avoid using these folks to ship your valuables, do so at all costs. They cause mass frustrations and I wish I read these other awful reviews before using them to send anything at all. read more

horrible service, lack efficiency. called days before my package was due to arrive to ask them to hold my package for pickup. The morning when it arrives I called again to make sure it's there on hold. Got there after work, waited 45 minutes and they couldn't find my package. They told me my package is probably some where in the facility but they just can't find it, so I should just go home and ask the sender of the package to start a trace to locate the package that's "most likely" at the facility, where I was standing and waited close to an hour...... horrible horrible horrible service..... if you can avoid using UPS or at least avoid this facility please do so, it's for your own sanity. read more

I was told by UPS that this facility is closed on Saturdays. How on earth is that possible in this day and age? So, to pick up my package that they "tried" to deliver three times in the afternoon when no one is home, now I have to drive from Tysons Corner to Chantilly during the week. Why can't they take the package to one of their locations in Tysons? I will never use UPS again, if I can help it. read more

This place is out of the way in some industrial park area of town, near the airport. Beware that if you go online and change delivery option to self pickup but then want to change it back to next business day delivery (even if you wanted to quickly change it back in 5 minutes), you have no choice but to pay a change fee of $5. I tried calling them but they weren't helpful. When I went to pick up, the staff was friendly and seemed overworked. I picked up my package on a Saturday morning which was the day after I got a delivery notice from UPS. There was a guy before me whose package wasn't unloaded from the truck and they DO NOT UNLOAD ANYTHING ON SATURDAY at this location. He offered to go find his plumbing orders on his own but they said no. Make sure you wait for them to call you within an hour of you pickup request or call them before you go to make sure they have actually unloaded your package. You don't want to drive all the way out there for nothing. read more

For the past three business days, starting with a delivery failure, I've been misinformed, cut off, or not called back on all but the last of about 8 calls. I still don't have the package, so the jury's still out on that last call. A special aspect of my complaint is that when I drove to the Chantilly warehouse as scheduled the day before with the call center, the warehouse clerk saw no indication on her computer of my request to make the pickup. Bottom line: UPS seems to be on a cost cutting binge. In spite of that, its rates are relatively high, at least for individual consumers. I had already discovered that Post Office shipping costs were a bargain compared to UPS. Now I've found it's cheaper to receive packages via the Post Office as well. read more

I live in an apartment complex in Herndon. Every other package I have had delivered to my address has been delivered to the main office if I am not home. I recently had an order from Amazon where a first attempt was made on Monday and it said they would try again the next day. I thought that was weird, but the delivery attempt was late in the evening, so I let it slide. It said it would be delivered the next day between 2:00 and 5:00, so I figured they would just take the package to the office on Tuesday. When I got home from work on Tuesday, there was another note on the door that they had made a second attempt but had not delivered. I did NOT want this package left at my door for someone to steal so I wrote a note on the door and signed it instructing them to deliver to the office. There was once again a 2:00 - 5:00 time estimate. Our office is open until 6:00. I thought I had done everything they needed to do. This evening (Wednesday), I came home to find the driver had written "office closed" on his notice of final delivery. Calling customer service is a joke. "Because it is after 7:00 p.m., there is nothing I can do so your package will be returned to sender. " I asked to file a complaint that the driver did not deliver during the estimated time (a THREE-HOUR window!) and he said that I couldn't file a complaint about the delivery time because it is just an estimate. Completely unprofessional! read more

Wish I could give 0 stars!!! Costco did not require a signature for my 40" TV I purchased online. UPS decided it needed a person to be home to sign for the package due to "security" as they reported to Costco! I live in a single family home cul-de-sac with very little traffic!!! I've had packages sit on my one step front stoop without problems for 5 years!!! The stoop is surrounded by bushes! I've seen 55" TV's sitting on a stoop in a townhouse community! My packages are continually delivered to my GARAGE rather than the front door. I will complain - then make them come out and re-deliver - then it starts all over again. I pay to have my packages delivered so I do not have to lug them up the stairs - when they are left at the garage location - packages can be easy prey for theives - in addition they have left them behind the garage door and I have run over them - not expecting the packages to be delivered there. Also I cannot see that I have had packages delivered if you are leaving them at the garage....you are paid to climb the stairs - and knock on the door to deliver packages. I would give a 0 if I could. I recently moved to a new house and ordered some new furniture knowing it wouldn't fit in my car. I ordered it express as well as I need to move in as fast as possible. Then I get the email, "package unable to be delivered" I call right away and they tell me the address is incorrect, I have them add amazon to the call, amazon disagree and say it is a legit address, they then concede and say they'll ship it again the next day. Now fast forward 3 days later and I still have not received the packages, and now they're telling me it will be another 3 days before I get them. The lady then tells me, "oh how about you just go get it yourself" To which I replied, "Ok, refund me my delivery charges and rent me the uhaul truck ill have to use to pick up the stuff" "oh no we can't do that" she replies. And that was the end of that. Best part is, you cannot directly call the center that is responsible, you get outsourced to a call center in the Philippines. I knew UPS was delivering a package today and left a package to be shipped out on the porch with a note asking for driver to pick it up. Do you think they could do that simple thing? I find the fact that the driver can leave a package at his discretion ridiculous after repeated requests to leave the package. Found out Chantilly delivered three packages three different days to the wrong address. Supposed to go to Dulles, VA 20189, but went to 44132 Mercure Circle 20166. I'm very disapointed in UPS! Particularly their driver for the 22033 area. He lied and stated he tried to deliver my package and really never came down the road. I know this by the "Time delivery was a attempted" noted on the tracing report and the fact that my signed permission slip taped to the front door, was still hanging where I left it. The other gotcha, is that I was sitting here when he says he attempted delivery. What a joke! Slacker! Looking below I'm not alone. Such a shame. UPS was a first rate company years back. Overnighted an envelope to a location not 15 miles away and it took six days for the recipient to finally receive it. Per my many phone calls to customer service (in India not in Chantilly, VA) it is up to the discretion of the carrier as to whether he'll leave the package or not. He did not and there is no way to get him to leave it.... So day after day the envelope (a paycheck) was not delivered. The carrier didn't even leave a card saying the delivery was missed. And try calling them to get help.....is no help at all..... it is a farce! read more

Package for my son's birthday arrived at Chantilly UPS at 6:30 am on day of delivery. It got put on the UPS truck at 7:40 am same morning. My son was home all day. At 7:40 pm there was still no package at my son's apartment which is only 20 minutes from the UPS Chantilly warehouse! The UPS tracking site said there had been an emergency (?) at 5:32 pm which delayed the delivery, but that the package was still listed as "in transit." (and there was no bad weather in the area today). The company I ordered the gift from is also a slave to this UPS delivery station in Chantilly, Virginia and they couldn't give me any more information about the driver or where my package was. At 8:20 pm I cancelled my order with the gift company and they refunded my money. I advised them of the recent bad reviews of this UPS location and they said they would look into it. read more

Delivered my package at incorrect address and didn't have the courage to admit it! Disappointing experience..

Tried to drop off a package today @ the UPS 4455 Stonecroft Blvd. Chantilly, VA location. The 1st thing I encountered were parking lot signs out in front of the Customer Center allocated to employees who'd won awards: I thought this a nice gesture for employees; however, considering that I AM the customer, the fact is, I had to park a half a parking lot away & carry my heavy package a long distance in 100 degree heat was exhausting to say the least, (UPS needs to allocate at least a couple of parking spots for customers at this location: there are NONE). It gets better... After the parking lot walk, I follow the pedestrian walkway to the guard shack where I was told (rather rudely) that I cannot enter here, I'm told by the guard that I need to enter the facility thru the "Truck Entrance Gate". Note this is a Vehicle Entrance - it is Unmarked for Pedestrians. The whole thing seems a bit unsafe to me... Finally, I walk thru the vehicle entrance & I arrive inside the customer service center. I proceed to the "Drop Off Package" Line. The service rep. sees me but she doesn't greet me or anything. Instead, she curtly yells at me, (she basically orders me): that I should form 1 line at the "Pick Up" sign (even though I have a package to Ship, not Pick Up!). Again very rude... Disgusted with this unbelievably piss poor customer service, I took an extra hour out of my day - I left and went to FEDEX to ship my package. I will never, ever use this location again. read more

Drivers are unreliable. Most are good, but there are some bad apples. Package delivered yesterday, tracking info said "left at gate." I don't have a gate. None of my neighbors have a gate. WTF is my package? Called, got a call back from the local delivery supervisor after an hour. Said they couldn't reach the driver (no surprise), but would ask him about it. Got a message later that he had left the package "at the mailbox." Turns out it was left IN the mailbox. I live in a rural area, my mailbox is 1/2 mile from my house. This driver should be fired. One - committing a felony, putting non-USPS mail in the mailbox. Two - lying about where the package was left. Three - being too f-ing lazy to deliver to my house. I didn't pay for delivery 1/2 mile away, I paid for delivery to my house. read more

Absolute worst customer service experience of my life - possibly tied with the awful customer service provided by Lowe's who shipped with UPS. I wasn't given any tracking information until I finally got in touch with the Leesburg Distribution center after my package had sat there for 6 days. They said they couldn't find my address but they sent me a postcard to tell me they couldn't find my address - anyone else find this crazy! So I actually asked them - so you believe the United States Post Office can deliver even though you can't - and she actually answered yes! LOL! There you have it folks - UPS thinks that USPS is better! And that is soooo true! Furthermore, they put in their notes that they told me to call back on 5/2 to give their drivers directions to my house only to find out that they sent to package back to the vendor that same morning. And when I called in, I was told it was my fault because I hadn't called at midnight the night before - UNBELIEVABLE!! I could go on and on but do yourself a favor - never ship with UPS - especially through Leesburg! read more

Yet another disappointing experience with UPS. I am expecting a package that requires a signature. I had to rearrange my work schedule to be home on the day that it was scheduled to be delivered. I just received an email that UPS tried to deliver the package but no one was home and they will try again tomorrow. I called UPS and reported that I have been home all day and that no one attempted to deliver a package. I am waiting for a call back from the Chantilly facility to see what they will do. The driver for the Leesburg area apparently wrote off this delivery for the day to save a trip - The facility in Chantilly is not a convenient place for me to pick up a package when I have to work all week. Very annoyed! The US Mail is so much easier and the post office is closer. read more

The next UPS nightmare in the US Why do these accounts of UPS not surprise me? When I googled UPS problems I was surprised at what I found. My experience: I was staying in a keyed security complex in Colorado. My delivery was coming from the last UPS depot (at Silverthorne, Colorado). Having had problem last year I phoned and tried to short circuit the storm which was headed my way. The problem was that there is no intercom and that UPS drivers will not phone customers in situations like mine. There would be many. I spent almost 2 hours on the phone contacting the depot as well as the company itself. All I got was misinformation, bullsh** and outright fob offs. Hey, am I a customer or Billy the Blacksmith? I was directed to registering and filling out the UPS My Choice form. Well this did not work as the information was not accepted even though nothing was given as a problem. The evidence about this company was beginning to mount. Finally I spoke to an agent who after arriving at a place where I stated that I was contacting the CEO was transferred to a supposed manager who again read the idiot sheet which employees of this company read from then tried to fob me off. After asking for the contact details for the Board the woman begrudgingly phoned the driver and gave me an approximate delivery time. But wasn't I told by several other agents that drivers did not carry a phone and were not contactable? Clearly I was lied to!! So I sat in the lobby of my security building and waited for almost 2 hours for this deadbeat company to deliver what it had been paid good money to deliver. My suggestion to all who ask is AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE. I have had dealings with FedEx at the same address as the above and the depot agents are super helpful and the drivers have no problems with making a phone call when they are close by. This is what real customer service is about and UPS is one of those iconic companies on the way out. I have emailed the CEO Scott Davis with a full account of the above and suggestions as to how to fix up the mess. My bet is that nothing will change. I'll wait for the fat lady to sing but unfortunately the problems in companies like this are often fat and lazy Boards who have been living the high life for too long and who are too lazy to get off their fat behinds and do the job they are being (highly) paid to do in the interests of shareholders read more

The communication for UPS is extremely horrible! On the tracking layout they stated that my package would arrive by the end of the day. I called at 6 am to clarify that the status of the tracking layout was correct because my package was important and I was told several times throughout the day (because of course I called more than once) that it will definitely arrive. I WAS EVEN GIVEN A TIME FRAME. Turns out my package never came and today is Jan 1st so all facilities are currently closed and now I'm STILL WAITING FOR A NEXT DAY AIR PACKAGE that was definitely supposed to be delivered to me yesterday. Also, I asked the representative to transfer me to the supervisor so I could discuss the circumstances of my package and she hung up on when she figured out it was nothing else she could do. My package arrived at this facility at 6 am and apparently it wasn't scanned until 5:51pm for departure. FedEx is probably not as good, but use them instead so you won't have to wait until next year to receive a next day air package that was shipped out on 12/27. read more

UPS operations and service is terrible!!! I ordered two items from one store some time ago. One package was shipped to my home. The second package of similar smaller size was held by UPS at a branch for receiver pick up, for no reason. Moreover, they never contacted me about the change. I only found out about what they did because a called to track the very late package. When I told them that I never asked them to hold the package for pickup, they said they would change it back to be delivered and that it would be delivered to my house by today. And it's not here. So I called and they said it was never put on the truck and they don't know why it was not! Now I have to wait for someone else to call me and tell me "my options". What an awful operations!! This is their business and they are so incompetent! Several weeks ago a vendor had a box delivered to my home and the driver dumped it on the side of the driveway half way up! Awful!! If you live in this area, use any other shipping company besides ups- fed ex, dhl, passenger pigeon, amazon drone, pony express, and even, god forbid, the United States postal service. Whether shipping or receiving, you are not safe from the incompetence of this shipping center. On shipping. I shipped 2 time sensitive documents using their overnight service. Both were dropped off at the same time, going to the exact same location and guaranteed for delivery on Monday. One of those documents arrived on time as expected. The other document decided to take a tour of the United States, and arrived on Wednesday. On receiving. I always procrastinate my Xmas shopping. I'm usually at the mall on Christmas Eve or spending $3,487 on shipping to have presents overnighted. This year, I decided to try some self improvement and do my shopping earlier. I ordered my wife's present from amazon a whole 10 days prior to Xmas and with my prime membership had free 2 day shipping. "What a stress free way to do things," I thought to myself. UPS decided that I did not deserve to be stress free. The seller decided to require a signature for the item. Not the fault of ups, but it does make delivery pretty tough. Like most families, my wife and I have to go to work during the day. We are not independently wealthy nor unemployable so that we would be available between 11 am and 1 pm when ups attempted to deliver the package. Nevertheless, I knew that I would need to call ups to put the package on hold so that I could drive to the chantilly ups center and pick up the package. And that's exactly what I did on the evening of December 22nd and was assured by a customer service rep that I could pick it up after 8:30 am on the next day. Well, I arrived at the service center at 9:00 am with my ticket and id at the ready and ups tells me that they did not gave the package and the driver was attempting to deliver it again. They tell me they see no indication that it was put on hold. "My ticket says final delivery attempt, though, why would it be sent back out?" "We decided to send all the packages back out a fourth time because it's Xmas". "Is there any way to contact the driver to see what time he/she will be in my area?" "No. ". "Can I authorize you to tell the driver to leave the package without a signature?" "No." "I'm leaving to go out of state to spend Xmas with my family and won't be back until after the new year, is there anything you can do?" "We will only hold the package for 5 days so it will likely be sent back to the seller". Well, thank you ups for teaching me the true meaning of the holiday season- self-improvement just does not work, the best gift to give your soon to be ex wife is love, wrapped up in an empty box, and don't trust a company that thinks that short cut brown shorts is an appropriate fashion for their drivers. read more

We recently moved to a new home at a new address on a new street. It took a few weeks, but US Postal was finally able to identify our new address and begin successfully delivering packages.
