I love this salon! Andres is AMAZING! I was referred to the upper hand by a friend who tried the kerasilk Goldwell keratin & loved it. I'm always on the lookout for great keratin treatments so decided to give them a try. If this lasts then it will be my favorite product so far & the product didn't smell bad or leave my hair "cakey" or feeling oily. The kerasilk application is similar to the kerafusion and if it lasts as long as the kerafusion I'll keep coming back. This salon is by far the worst in Houston. I payed top dollar for my hair to fall out of my head. I needed highlights on my roots. I needed it also brighter because the last hair colorist at the Hyde park upper hand screwed up my roots by making them ORANGE. The new lady brought down bleach 6/8 inches, and over laid it on top of the hair with bleach already. When I asked about this she said don't worry I'm using a protein bonder. I trusted her and it was a huge mistake, all of my hair fell out of my head that she touched up over the already bleached hair. You think someone from this salon would know to pick thru better on the hair and not over lay bleach. I lost 1/2 my hair yesterday. 1/2. The other half wasn't touched by her so it looks the exact same. Now before you assume we'll maybe my hair is too dark to handle bleach. Nope here is a photo with a hair colorist that knows not to over lay bleach and BTW, I stayed 6 hours doing my roots at this salon while the other colorist had me out by 3 hours, half the time and NO DAMAGE. The only good news is my roots looked good because those were NOT damaged from multiple bleaching. This salon costs DOUBLE, results are terrible and you waste 6 hours of your day on something that takes 3 hours at the most. ****It's now been over a week. My hair is still breaking off past 3 inches where she overlapped bleach. I went to get a consult by a friend and I was told that the colorist dried my hair on purpose because no one is this bad at bleaching**** BE CAREFUL! I came in for a toner and hair treatment and boy did Danielle GIVE MY HAIR LIFE!!!! A few months prior I got a grey balayage done for the first time ever to my virgin hair. After a few washes, the grey was practically gone and my hair felt extra crispy. It was so dried out -- I had the hardest time combing it out each time. When I came in to see Dani, she brought the grey back into my hair, but more grey than my hair initially was the first time (woohoooo!!). My hair felt so soft after the treatment. Both the color and the texture of my hair lasted for much longer than when I went to a different salon. Not only did she bring my hair back to life, she was also very informative of everything she was putting into my hair. I knew I was in good hands. PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU CONSIDER COMING TO THIS SALON TO GET YOUR HAIR DONE. I'm extremely disappointed with this salon. I've visited three times only to get mediocre service (at most) for way too high of a price. I even held off from writing this review for a couple weeks after my final experience because I wanted to see if some of the problems would resolve. They didn't...Let me start off by establishing that I started off with about 2 feet of dark brown (almost black) virgin hair and my goal was a light rose gold shade. Also, this salon is a good 45 minutes- 1 hour away from where I live. (first and second visits plus final reflections explained in screenshots because I went way over the text limit) Still, my first two experiences didn't even come close to disappointing me as much as my final experience. I waited about 6 weeks before coming in for another round of lightening. I hoped that this session could help fix some of the mistakes made during the last time around. I was so wrong... I had no idea that I was in for a 4.5 hour disaster. My appointment was at about 4:00 pm. The bleaching process took forever because this time everything was lightened. To help speed up the process after all the foils were in, my stylist put me under the heat lamp. Within minutes my scalp was burning to the point of bringing me to tears almost. I was freaking out and he immediately took me to the sink to wash it off. I noticed smoke coming from the foils closest to the top of my head. Even after he washed all the product out my scalp burned. In fact, it burned for the rest of the night, and days after, it remained extremely sore and sensitive. I let him finish because of course I wasn't going to leave my hair an ugly blonde color. By this time it was about 8:00 pm (closing time for the salon) but all that was left to do was tone the hair in my desired color and blow-dry/style it. Fine. When he toned my hair, it was not the beautiful rose gold that I have coveted for so long. It was straight-up pale pink. I could tell he was in a hurry when he took me back to his chair from the sinks to blow-dry my hair. I get it, it was past time for him to go home for the night. But I was his client and it was his responsibility to give me the highest quality of service the whole way through. After he rushed through this process he very hesitantly told me to give my hair a break from heat for a while and shower maybe two days after. At this point, it was about 8:30 pm. In hindsight, from the way he was acting, I could tell he knew he messed up. On the way home, I noticed three things: my hair on the top layers was breaking off, there was still product that was quickly hardening left in the top layers of my hair that was especially prominent on one side, and the coloring was extremely uneven. I tried my best to get some of the product out as I drove home. It felt like hardened hair gel/ hairspray except it was way more difficult to get out. It was even more challenging to remove because my scalp still stung so much from when the heat lamp burned it that any movement of the hardened clumps of hair put me in immense amounts of pain. When I got home, I immediately assessed the damage in better lighting. The hair directly on top of my head was nearly WHITE from the over processing likely due to the lamp. As for the product that wasn't properly rinsed out by the stylist, I had no choice but to try to wash it out. I tried to get it all out after rinsing my hair a total of 3 times just that night...to no avail. Unfortunately, this also rinsed out the pale pink toner, not that it really mattered. The next morning, I woke up to hideous, uneven, straw colored hair (well, it was about 5 different colors) that broke off like thin wet noodles any time I tried to comb it. This disaster cost me $250. I thought the point of multiple sessions was to not end up with the hair that I now have to suffer with. I could've handled waiting for another session to get the color I wanted. I wanted to love this salon, I really did... I am still recovering from a horrible haircut 4 moths later. I've requested to get in contact with management several times without success. Will not be returning to this place. I can hardly believe that this salon location charges clients 50% of a scheduled service when they cancel the appointment for being sick - I had a fever and chills and was headed to urgent care and needed to cancel my appointment. Unbelievable. I have been to many hair salons and this is a first for me.
