I'm going to start this post by saying if you're looking to get your hair balayaged then make sure you ask for Hillary! I have super long and thick hair and she took a ton of time to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. This is probably one of the best haircuts I've ever had and the price was comparable to other salons I've visited(that didn't have the same level of care or attention). Just got back from H3 Salon... a little hidden treasure on Richmond near Montrose. The salon is located in a building that looks so chic and industrial. The salon itself is beatifully decorated with black and white fixtures and retro hair product ads from the past, matted and framed. The place is cozy and gives off good vibes! Yay Leidi!! I finally bit the bullet and chopped of my wedding hair. We're talking 6-7 inches of hair off my head. Since I'm fairly new to Houston, I checked out Yelp and settled on Leidi at H3 salon. All the stylists at H3 are by appointment only, so you can either call the main number (listed here) or the stylist's personal number. Leidi's number is her cell phone, but don't feel weird about calling--she loves new clients! My hair is kinda complicated...I've been thermally straightening it for the past two years, but I'm letting it grow out now so it's sort of a mixture of textures. Leidi helped me find a style that works for me, and even taught me how to style my new bangs! The blue and white building has a huge 701 in front of it, so it's hard to miss. You have to use the call box to buzz up and get access to the building. The salon itself is very small, but that makes it very quiet and relaxing. I felt at ease without all the normal salon-goers staring at me. I'm so happy to have a new go-to girl in Houston. Leidi charges $55 flat, so that was a steal for my long, complicated hair. Okay so - I went to H3 for the first time last week.. and lets just say i LOVED it. I lived in Houston for about 2.5 years and just moved back last week.. and I really needed a new hair stylist. After talking with my friends about salons, and checking out Yelp.com, I figured I would check out H3. Sharon does my color and Leidi does the hair cut. Both are absolutely amazing!!! Sharon listened to me and gave me her ideas as well.. and when I wanted it a little darker than what I got, she automatically fixed it! Dont be scared to tell them exactly what you want. Leidi also was amazing - all I wanted was a trim and ideas with my bangs and she did a fantastic job.. and didn't cut off 5 inches like a lot of stylists do when all you want is a trim. Both stylist are fun to talk to.. such a delight! I have been to about 3 different stylists in Houston and I really love the ladies at H3. It's also a small and cute salon - not so uppity or chaotic like some big salons. They are decently priced for Houston - but still more than I'd like to pay. Then again, I am from a small town where color is $30 and cuts are $15 so that doesn't say much! While I enjoyed the stylists, I will not be returning. I just dont get charging $55 for a cut and $115 for highlights? Money does not grow out of the precious booty. read more

Hilary is a blonde genius. It took me 2 years and a lot of tears before finding her. She listens to you and delivers a premiere experience while you're with her. The salon itself is also well managed and staffed with friendly faces. You will also fall in love with their entire hair washing team! You basically get a free massage each time you go. Finally found a salon that I can trust. I have crazy thick, curly hair, and finding a salon that I feel comfortable with has proven to be difficult! I initially started coming here after being referred by one of my customers when I worked retail, and I'll never look back! Ashley does the most amazing job cutting, coloring, and blowdrying my hair. I feel like I usually spend 2+ hours in the salon for a basic cut and blowdry, but Ashley is quick, efficient, and just fantastic. She's taken my hair to a rich dark brown, put in highlights, and is always honest if I'm asking for too much or if something won't look right. I've also had my hair done by Kaitlin who is amazing. She offered to fix my hair when it was a disaster (I went way too blonde and looked like a wreck), and she transformed my hair into a natural dark brown. I moved to Houston about 6 months ago. In terms of priorities, I rate finding my hairdresser right up there with finding myself a doctor and an apartment. I went to a chain place when I first got here and my haircut was fine but I was disappointed with the coldness and impersonal feeling of the place. A few weeks ago I made an appointment with Sharon who works out of H3. Sharon is amazing, not only is she bubbly and funny but she's extremely easy to talk to. I got a cut and highlights, and I am very particular about my highlights. Sharon made it really easy, not only did she listen but she offered really helpful suggestions about color and shape. She also helped me understand how my hair works better: basically because my hair is thin and oily she told me how I could improve that with simple household products. I really appreciated going to a hair salon that didn't pump products at me that cost an arm and a leg. The main reason I will keep going back to Sharon is that she seems to understand my lifestyle and that my life doe not revolve around me doing my hair everyday. Basically, I spend 15 minutes in the morning on my hair, I blow dry it, stick some gel in it and go. My last cut required maintenance, whereas Sharon understood that I don't spend a lot of time on it and worked with that. Now I can spend my extra time in the morning sleeping rather than doing my hair and it still looks great. Sharon is wonderful, I will keep seeing her because she is so talented, because it is affordable and because she takes the time to know, understand and work with her clients. Finally I get a great haircut and style in Houston! I have super fine hair but felt like a super model after Leidi was finished with me! And I got the honks and compliments (from strangers) at the mall later that day to confirm it. After trying many other stylists since moving to Houston, I have finally found the one I will keep. Leidi did a fantastic job of cutting and styling my hair at a fantastic price ($55 for long hair). She gave me a cut that is very low maintenance and is easy to style nicely myself. She is easy to chat with as she works on your hair and had good suggestions for combating my particular frustration (fine hair, low volume). The salon is small but bright and airy. Feels a little like a secret location b/c it is in this random two story industrial feeling building but when you are buzzed in all of a sudden there is an upbeat, clean, and modern salon on the other side of the door. What a cute salon! The people that work here are so nice and I felt very comfortable. I got my haircut from Leidi and she is just the sweetest! Very nice and easy person to talk to. I told her exactly how I wanted my hair and she made a few suggestions and viola! My haircut was so beautiful when she was done! I wanted something stylish and fresh for the summer but not too edgy since I work in a corporate enviroment and Leidi knew how to do just that. I went from having long boring hair with a few layers, to a cute long a-line bob that really brightens up my face. Although the cut was a little more pricey then what I'm used to, it was worth it!
