It's a nice place and I used to love their pizza, but then I had to give up gluten. Their gluten free base is terrible! It's cracker-thin but not crispy in the middle, so it has no structural integrity. It's a waste of good toppings, in my opinion - you can't hide the lack of flavor, texture or general pizza-ness. I've been a customer for over 20 years. Never been disappointed but lately especially this evening it was the lowest of lows. I was told an hour it was an hour and a half to deliver. I ordered a soda and always comes with a salad and a bag of chips the salad was spilled out into the plastic bag and no chips and no soda. Great pizza! Love the wheat crust and green chilies. They tend to be REALLY busy, particularly on weekends. Delivery orders can take 45-60 minutes but are completely worth it. If you dine-in, either get there early, don't come too hungry or get a salad. Pizza is terrific and worth the wait. We live in Northern California and we get Upper Crust every time we are in Santa Fe (about 1-2 times a year). read more

Overall, I liked the pizza. The only complaint I had about it is that they were very stingy with the sauce and this definitely was to the detriment of the pizza. I had one bite of a piece that had sufficient sauce and that bite was great, but the rest of the pizza was way too sauce-sparse. Definitely would order extra sauce on a future visit. I did like the crust, the cheese, the toppings (they used a really good italian sausage), and the ambience on the patio. My only other complaint is that they don't offer free refills on fountain soda despite the sodas being rather pricey per unit. I can understand only giving free refills with a food order, if they want to avoid people just coming in for bottomless drinks, but if I'm forking over 25 bucks for a pizza and drink on a really hot day, I know the refills are cheap so let me have one please. Or don't charge almost $3 for a single glass of coke. Upper Crust won't replace my favorite Back Roads, but if I were craving pizza on a day that Back Roads wasn't open for some reason or I had to stay in the area around the plaza, I'd go here and order extra sauce and stick to water. read more

Holy Smokes, this is a great pizza. I remember eating this pizza when I was younger. Someone would bring a box that when you opened it, smelled so delicious you just had to grab a piece before it was all gone. This was my first time in their restaurant. It is a down to earth place in Santa Fe with superb ingredients and a very cool staff. We did not eat on the patio because all the tables were taken. After ordering we figured we would have to wait a while but to our surprise, they were very fast getting our pizza out. We ordered the Classic Combo. I usually do not prefer olives on my pizza but I didn't mind it. The crust, cheese, and toppings were perfect for our hungrey bellies. I stopped by the El Dorado Upper Crust and ordered a sub and a salad and waited in the dining room. After waiting an hour, I went to the counter to inquire about my order and they said that it had been up there waiting for me. The dining room is very small and I assumed that someone would notify me that my order was ready. My sub was barely warm and my salad looked like what any salad would look like after sitting out for an extended period of time. I ate almost half of the sub and a few bites of the salad and spent the rest of the night in the bathroom sick. I can't prove that I had food poisoning but no other culprit exists for sickness. I also think 2.75 for each topping is ridiculous and charging me 20 cents for salad dressing is just insulting (not EXTRA Italian dressing) so I guess some people don't expect to get dressing with the salad.
