Staff were very friendly and it was so hard to choose what we wanted. Nice little bakery that brings back memories when I came to Chico State. Good spot to visit for a nice baked treat. The atmosphere is chill with nothing too loud so you can enjoy your food and not be overwhelmed!

Came up from Concord on my motorcycle . Stopped in at Upper Crust Bakery for lunch. The Ca Veg sandwich is to DIE for. Add some fresh fruit and an Italian soda and I'm good to get back on the road. Weston took my order and he was personable and professional. I highly recommend Upper Crust Bakery on Main in Chico!

4 over done buns under a layer of golden ones. Disappointing

No loaf bread. Everything I read online about this bakery ahead of time said they would have loaves of bread super disappointed. After 20 min to wait to ask about a loaf of bread I was told they only had rolls. They were 12 rolls for $9 okay fine. Get home to find they hide over cooked ones at the bottom

Let me start by saying, YUM! It's a bakery, not much more to say than that. A very welcoming place to sit for a bit and relax. The staff was friendly and everything we tried was delicious. I especially like the orange cranberry scone. If I'm back in the area, I'll give their lunch menu a try.

the Apple Cinnamon Roll (it's worth the diabetes)

wonderful pastries, both sweet and savory. almost everything is single serving -- croissant, roll, danish, muffin. you can get full pies and cheesecakes (I believe). the most amazing thing I just tried today was their Apple Cinnamon Roll. first off, a cinnamon roll is a "lay-up" for these guys... they do way more sophisticated stuff that beats anything anywhere else in the area. something about this cinnamon roll with apple compote added just did me in right! some times simple can surprise us. try the ham 'n' cheese croissant, an almond bear claw, a scone... haven't done them for soup or lunch items, but all their breakfast items are incred! one small jab: their coffees, lattes, espressos are great, but the drinks do come out slower than the food and snacks. with one drink slinger and the rest of the employees working counter and back of the house, I totally understand. bring your patience because it's well worth it and this Chico icon that has been around for decades earns every inch of a five star review.

Service was fantastic, staff was incredibly friendly and brought our drinks to us outside. I had meant for this to be a pit stop for coffee but the outdoor patio was so nice, we ended up sitting in the shade with the pups and taking our time before our looong drive back to SoCal. Black coffee. The beans were from Kenya, which is not my partner's bean country of choice but he said the coffee was good anyway. Oat milk latte. My incredibly particular mom said this was the best latte she's ever had. Dad and I were shook. Iced cinnabon oat milk latte. Surprisingly balanced. Cinnamon forward, which I like, but not overbearing. Lighter on the maple flavor, which I'm grateful for, as maple can get real heavy, real quick for me. Carrot zucchini bread. This was slightly flour-y to my palette, but overall, not bad. Moist, and not too sweet.

The children that work there, probably should go back to daycare. Fake smiles, fake professionalism, just fake all around. Except for the tall doofus that came to the window, he didn't know how to fake it yet so he was just an unprofessional dumbass.

Might be difficult to navigate for those with mobility issues, though. It seems to be a popular spot with both young and old patrons. There's an area at the back with what looked like art supplies and things to keep folks entertained. Parking is semi-tight right outside but it's doable even with a midsize SUV. I got there around noon on a Wednesday and it was a little busy but I was the only one in line for about 5 minutes before I ordered and while I ordered. It took a little longer than I expected to get the wrap I ordered, but I didn't mind. The Smokin' Veggie wrap was VERY good, especially when I added some hot sauce (they have several options by the water station at the back)! And it was a great portion, too! I only ate half there and ate the other half later for a late lunch part 2. I had hoped to get a pastry, but I was a bit disappointed with the pastry selection -- it seemed to mostly be muffins and croissants from Costco and Safeway or something. I didn't get a drink this time, but maybe next time. But the wrap was delish! Thanks!

I scoured the menu and was excited to find so many hash choices. I was moved by the Irish Burrito, but ordered Linda's omelette; while my daughter went with the eggs Benedict. In a town that takes its breakfast seriously, and where I've probably worked my way through more menus and reviews than I should admit, this one quietly climbed right to the top of my list. My omelette was exactly what you want when you order one. Fluffy without being dry, full of flavor without trying too hard, and cooked like someone in the kitchen actually cares about eggs. The ingredients were balanced and fresh, not just thrown together as filler. The hollandaise sauce was original, I couldn't find a lemon, cheese or any other overwhelming base, it stood out. The hash was perfect. My daughter's eggs Benedict looked like a postcard version of what that dish should be. Perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise that didn't feel heavy, and ham that actually tasted like ham instead of just salt delivery. One of those plates where you steal a bite "just to try it" and immediately understand the decision. The real surprise for me was the potato pancake I picked instead of the usual hashbrowns. Light, airy inside, crispy outside, and seasoned just right. Honestly one of the better breakfast potatoes I've had anywhere. If potatoes had a hall of fame, this one would at least get a nomination. The place itself has a warm, comfortable feel. Wood tones, rooster themes everywhere, a relaxed local energy where people look like regulars and first-timers feel welcome anyway. Service was friendly and efficient without feeling rushed. In a city full of strong breakfast spots, this might actually be my current favorite. That's not something I say lightly.
