This was an awesome little experience! The staff was incredibly well informed on each kitty in the cafe and had tons of information for any questions asked. The staff was also just very nice in general! The kittys were all pretty playful or just cute as could be taking naps all over. There's lots of spots for patrons to sit and tons of cat trees for the kitties to climb. There's also tons of enrichment toys to use to play with them & even some children's books to read (which is super cool if you bring little kids). Refreshments were awesome as well! Absolutely a spot I would recommend to check out if you're in Chico. I'd say it's also a great place for a first date or even just a quiet spot for some relaxation with these sweet fur balls! I brought my 90 year old grandmother here for a surprise and she was over the moon! The cats were well socialized and cuddly, the staff was unbelievably kind and accommodating, the location was cute and clean, and the hot chocolate was tasty! I would HIGHLY recommend this cafe for anyone who wants a pick me up or is ready to adopt their new best friends (now, you have to get two as cats are always better in pairs ;)). I went there for my birthday and the staff was super friendly. They took time to introduce me to the cats and show me where the treats were. The cats are all very loving with a range of personalities. My kid loved playing with the cats. The facility is clean and very cutely decorated. It was a very nice way to spend my birthday. i came in with my mom for 5 minutes and paid a 20 dollar fee to pet cats. the last time I came here I was n out charged and I did not see any signs saying a 10 dollar entrance fee. I understand they do donations but I think it would be better to have a 5 dollar fee to just pet the cats. read more

We loved our morning at the cat cafe! The admission price was very affordable and well worth it. The place is cozy, clean, and created perfectly for human-cat interactions. The husband-wife team working were incredibly helpful and we enjoyed our conversations with each of them. I was looking to adopt two cats, and was excited to go to the café. I had never been before, and was unfamiliar with the place. I walked up to the door and walked in. I could see the cats inside and also noticed a sign to please be careful and close doors behind you so the cats can't escape. Having had up to 5 cats at one time, I fully understand how cats work and appreciated the reminder. I walked in and their was a man in the main area, he said hi and walked out. I thought he might be the only person there, so I waited for him to come back, I didn't see anyone else. I stood near a cat tree, petting cats (of course). I was impressed with the cleanliness and calmness of all the felines. (which is why 2 stars)- As I stood there, a woman's voice barked at me from behind. She wanted to know how I got in, why I didn't follow the protocol and that cats can escape, etc, etc, etc. She told me someone needs to let me in. I explained that there was a man that saw me come in and was present, and she was uninterested to hear this. She was very abrasive and rude, raising her voice. I was embarrassed and flustered. I didn't see any sign that guided me. She could have kindly said something, there is no excuse when working in a customer service role. Her husband (I assume that's who the man was) was kind and friendly- not so much for his bride. I simply said, ok and left. Once outside, I looked again at the door and saw no sign on how to proceed inside. Then somewhat hidden by Christmas Decorations, on the side of the door I saw a small camera and sign to ring bell- but again, the Christmas Decorations were covering part of it and being new to the establishment- I had no idea. Also ON the door was a sign that said something to the effect of closing the door behind you so cats don't escape- I went to one of the local shelters, and to be honest- I feel better about adopting from the shelter where the cats live in less perfect conditions... I am thinking the cats in the café would not be as happy in my home as they are in the well equipped café! Support your local shelter. The staff is grateful to have you walk in- nothing but kindness and appreciation. Calm. I can understand the proprietors concerns, however she needs to work on her customer service skills and maybe getting better signage- like ON the actual door you walk in. I won't go back or recommend. But the idea is cute- and the they did a great job in creating a beautiful space- but what good is it if you verbally attack your guest? The embarrassment it caused me was a enough to say enough. Aggressively speak to me once when I come with good intention, shame on you. There will be no second time. read more

I'm in love! I'm a cat person to my core, absolutely love them. I had a wonderful experience at the Cat Cafe. The cats and kittens are all socialized and some very playful. I really enjoyed the cat themed esthetics. The place is very clean, does not smell of even a hint of litter box. The owners are very friendly and committed to save and home as many cats as they can. I really have no reason to go to Chico since I live an hour away, but if the slightest excuse for a trip comes up, I'm always immediately down because it means I get to go to Chico Cat Cafe abd say hello to some adorable lil meowers. :) We have been to cat cafes in San Francisco, Tokyo, and Kyoto and honestly? Chico Cat Cafe is our favorite. It's so mellow and feels just like coming home to a cozy houseful of cats (as someone with my own cozy houseful of cats, I can say this confidently LOL). Theres also a bio book there with little info about all the cats and their rescue stories! There's drip coffee, sodas, snacks, and some drinks for anyone 21+! We just adopted our sweet girl Gypsy today and we can't believe how well kept, clean and friendly the environment was. You instantly felt at home walking in. Greeted with the nicest people and a warm smile. At first we walked in just to look around and adopt but after we saw how beautiful and welcoming the cafe was we knew we were in good hands. You could tell the cats there are loved, well groomed, behaved, and friendly. The adoption process was fast and easy! Amazing. We were one of the first to go check this place out when they opened and we adopted our sweet orange kitty Richard. The owners Jodi and John are some of the sweetest people and run the business perfectly. I love that they work with numerous rescues to try to get the cats new homes. The ambiance is amazing and super comfortable. We brought our two small kiddos there and it was so easy to see the right kitty for us.
