Very good people took in kittens that a poor and careless cat owning neighbor should have prevented in the first place.

These people need to be looked into. Literally. Total waste of time…read more When I was searching for a puppy a small chihuahua or any mixed small bread dog honestly. I reached out to these guys. Saw some cuties on the website asked about them. 560$ What is this?? Is this genuine care of a good home or a puppy mill? This wasn't the end of the experience. I texted whoever the person was to ask regarding other puppies. 650$ and higher. Not only were chihuahuas way over priced. Their attitudes are not professional or welcoming. They have all the wrong people wrking in there. Every question I asked regarding the doggies. Rude responses. It's like I'm bothering them. If you're going wrk with animals and give them the best chance possible be thorough with people, kind and put those prices more reasonable. There's more cost like vet care supplies so all that needs to be considered.

I recently adopted a dog from Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue in Chico. I was fortunate to have a…read morevolunteer make the trek from Chico down to Southern California with my new addition, and I will say that I am very impressed with them. The adoption fee was $295 and included up-to-date vaccinations and neuter. I adopted a Chiweenie dog from them, and I was very impressed with how fast he adjusted to us. He immediately opened up to me and showed me lots of affection within hours - and still shows me so much love to this day. He was very well mannered and let us know he needed to go potty outside. They also let us know that our dog was very motivated by food, which we expected and were prepared for as our previous Chiweenie was similar. It was very clear to us that Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue put a lot of time, care, and effort into our dog. That is no small feat by any means, and by volunteers, no less. Adoption fees do vary among animals, but I feel the value was well worthwhile due to the quality we have seen of our dog. The staff were friendly, communicative, and went beyond our expectations. I would highly recommend adopting from Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue. They made the adoption process so easy, and we are so in love with our dog.

Farm Sanctuary - Great place doing great things

As Jenn M said "Faith in humanity restored" should pretty much be their tagline…read more I like to donate to this place during Thanksgiving considering how many poor turkeys are slaughtered in factory farms every year. I'm not gonna lie.. you really have to be committed to make the drive up here but I truly think it's worth it. They offer 2 group tours every other weekend for $5 where they show you the goats, turkeys, cows, pigs and more! You also get to walk around the farm at your leisure until 4PM when they close to the public. It was refreshing to be around people who were curious about their food and questioning current industry practices. I learned that pigs were actually pretty clean and loved to be petted! Of course.. I posted pics on Facebook and got made fun of for driving so far to visit a farm but unfortunately ignorance isn't something that today's society is lacking. This place is special.. and if you don't get it then don't come here and go to Safeway, buy your factory farmed animal torture meat, have your BBQ's, and live your life in ignorance. At least I can sleep at night knowing that there are some good people out there who are trying their best to make the smallest difference.

My faith in humanity is restored! I went up to the Farm Sanctuary for thier 4th of July "Pignic"…read morecelebration, a free event with hourly tours and a vegan BBQ. It was amazing. Every animal there has a story, and your tour guides tell you all about them (and where they like to be scratched and petted!). You will really appreciate how much personality and emotion each animal has. And it's so refreshing to know there are places like this and people that care enough to dedicate their lives to helping those who cannot help themselves. The BBQ was so damn good I was a fat bastard and ate a veggieburger AND a veggiedog. There were also endless Alternative Baking Co cookies - a blessing and a curse. The gift shop is neat - they have tons of cooking & resource books, ice cream treats & snacks, and the usual t-shirts and mugs. You can get involved in the "adopt a farm animal" project here, which allows you special visiting privileges and other goodies. The Sanctuary is about a 3-hour drive from the Bay Area, totally doable for a day. But there is a little pet-friendly cabin onsite if you want to spend the weekend. I adore this place. Knowing the horrors that "food" animals suffer through makes you appreciate just watching these animals be animals - grazing, lounging, just roaming around and taking it easy, living a happy life. A very joyful place indeed.
