Whispering Pines Pet Clinic - Last picture I took of Addy after letting her soak in warm water for several hours trying to get her to pass the stuck stool.

I am very upset as I made at appointment for one of our adult boa imperators named Addy on February…read more3rd 2026 as she had a large mass stuck in her back end that she couldn't pass on her own. They told me she was dehydrated so they gave her IV fluids. They also did an x-ray on her to confirm what the mass was which it was stool that she was unable to pass on her own. They confirmed she had an infection and prescribed her an antibiotic injection called Ceftazidime to be given to Addy every other day. They wanted to do blood work on her however I couldn't afford that as that would have made the total $800 - $1,100 in addition to I don't see how that would have helped Addy as we already know she has an infection from the stuck stool. The total cost that day was $640. They told me if the antibiotic injections didn't work that they could do an Enema and flush out the stuck stool. At the time of the appointment they showed me how to give the injection to Addy on her side underneath the scales. They told me if I needed any help to come in anytime and they could help me give her the injection. They gave her the first injection for me. When I went to give her the second antibiotic injection I had a difficult time doing it properly as I am nine months pregnant so I called the vet clinic to ask if I could bring Addy in for help on giving her the injection. They told me the doctor had left early that day and to give the injection from top down if I needed to which is what they told me not to do during the time of Addy's appointment. Thankfully my husband was able to help me give Addy her antibiotic injections however I didn't think it was right what the vet did saying I could come in for help and then they refuse to let me come in and help give Addy her injection. The vet said they would call in a few days after the weekend and see how Addy is doing. My husband helped me to give Addy her antibiotic injections every other day. When the vet called for an update I let them know that a small amount of white stuff came out of her back end but that the mass was still there. When I asked how much the estimate would be for an Enema the vet told me they didn't want to do that for her until after she had all her antibiotic injections due to the risk of tearing which they didn't mention that to me during Addy's appointment. My husband and I were giving Addy the antibiotic injections every other day like instructed. We went to give Addy her injection last Thursday evening on February 19th 2026 only to find that Addy had passed away. I am very upset and distraught about Addy passing as she was such a kind and sweet boa. I feel like the vet should have done something more for her sooner instead of just relying on the antibiotic injections. I am also upset they didn't allow me to come back in for help giving Addy the injections. I am writing this review to share my experience as this has been very hard on myself and I highly recommend not going to Whispering Pines Vet Clinic if you have an exotic or any type of reptile. I cannot speak on their services for dogs and cats, however I don't think they are capable of treating exotics and reptiles properly. The total vet cost for Addy was $640 only for her to end up passing away. I also noticed when I first walked into the clinic that they have two ball pythons in a small glass tank together with a red light for heating. One of the ball pythons had bad stuck shed on it. The two ball pythons apparently live at the clinic like that in those conditions. I told myself if they can't properly care for their own snakes how could they possibly help Addy our Boa? I almost walked out right then and there but being I am heavily pregnant it's hard for me to drive and this was the closest vet clinic to us that sees exotics. I now know that I should have walked out and gone to a different exotic vet as maybe if I did that Addy would still be alive and could have gotten the help she needed.

Our elderly American Mastiff was having a severe reaction to the antibiotic and we just needed a curtesy call just to let us know as to lower the dose or to discontinue the antibiotic. The manager told us that it is not there policy to call a patient and that we needed to make another appointment days later. Our Elderly mastiff was having such a severe reaction to this treatment that made it so she could not walk, lost her appetite, her breathing was labored and all we needed was a quick phone call from the vet. We had to call for over three days with the same result from the Manager and she even told us to take her to VCA . I explained to her my dog was their patient And we just needed to know about this antibiotic dosage which was making our dog sicker. We were brushed off and told never to return because we began to get upset. .I don't know if Dr Brennen is aware that her Manager made it so we cannot ever come in again and that we were ditched in the middle of treatment by her Clinic. The Manager refused us the care We needed for their patient and our dog. Our dog could not be transported as due to her size and complete lameness. We finally found a Mobile vet who looked over our Dogs treatment and Told us our dog was having a severe reaction to the treatment and that antibiotic was the wrong thing to be giving my dog and is what caused the downfall of my dogs health. We almost had to put her down. We detoxed her and her symptoms improved, though now she cannot walk at all and her trachea began collapsing due to this antibiotic. It was horrible what we were put through and what our dog has had to experience because of a refusal to just give a patient a curtesy phone call. There was no care shown. I have been told by other vets that I should report this clinic to the Vet Medical Board for how we were treated and dismissed in the middle of treatment. What would you do?

The day before the appointment, I received a curtesy call from the receptionist. The month before, when I made the appointment, I was quoted around $250. The day before, she tells me that the cost will be $534. I asked, how did it double?!? She gave me a few excuses, and then told me that if I couldn't afford it, maybe I should wait. I told her that it really wasn't about the up charge, but the rudeness and attitude she gave me. I asked to speak with a manager. The manager gets on the phone, and after I told her the situation, and that I could have had it done possibly sooner for that price, and that doubling the bill the day before is not right. She tells me that she doubts that any other place could have done it within a month. I told her that she's completely missing the point. Then she tells me that I can either pay the full price or cancel the appointment. Wow. So I ask to speak with the owner which is the vet. The lady tells me, that isn't gonna happen. I said, well, then I will drive up there and speak with her myself. 2 minutes later, I get a phone call from the office manager, telling me that she spoke with the owner, and that my appointment is canceled and that they no longer think they're a good fit to be my veterinarian lol. No shit. Not mentioning that I spent a couple thousand dollars there a few months ago.

If I didn't know better, I'd think Georgie was his favorite patient :) and that's how it should be with a vet. On kind of a more sad note, when my inlaws' dog had to be put down, Colyer Vet offered an in-home service so she didn't have to be put down at the vet. I am not sure if that's a common thing or not, but I thought it was really important and meaningful in choosing a vet. He also gave my inlaws' dogs some anti-anxiety medicine free of cost when their house burnt down and the dogs were freaking out. Goes to show he really cares about each individual animal!

She then looked at us and said they dont do that at this vet and not to worry he will be gone in seconds it was all a fucking lie. Then here comes Dr.Dalia Mathan with the euthanasia shot it took her five different times before she could inject the shot in the meantime our cat was crying fighting couldn't catch his breath or anything. After his lifeless body went limp the nurse drops him on the exam table and walks out. I look down at my baby and see he bit his tongue.Dr.Dalia does not know how to diagnose animals. Dennis was open, and agreed with us when we stated our desire to work with our dog individually. He wants to train YOU the owner, so you can have tools to build a strong bond with your dog. He is clearly experienced, tailoring our obedience lessons to the characteristics of our pup and offering insights into WHY our dog is behaving a certain way. This allows us to continue our training after we finished with Dennis, and problem solve on our own with great results. Dennis is extremely passionate, fair and supportive to you and your pup. He focuses on positive reinforcement, but is also realistic when you need to provide a correction to undesirable behaviors. I wasn't looking for another dog -- my husband and I already had three at home that we got from a breeder -- but I knew this dog, Grampy, was meant to be mine. And thus began our relationship with Dachshund Rescue of Northern California, who showed us the joy of bringing an older rescued dog into our lives and the many rewards that rescue brings. After completing an extremely detailed application and going through DRNC's thorough vetting process, they decided we would provide a good home for Grampy. His foster mother -- who herself has become an adopted daughter to us -- brought him over, and he slid effortlessly into our pack and our lives. We enjoyed him thoroughly, but tragically, after less than a year, Grampy developed a cardiac condition that took him from us much too soon. A week or so after Grampy died, though, DRNC called apologetically to ask if there was any chance we'd be interested in another dog; they had an urgent situation with a dog named Danny, who needed a home ASAP. So Danny, another senior, came to live with us. And finally, we took in a foster dog named Murphy, who lives with us now. I swear we meant to find him another home, but he's such a love we ended up keeping him. Through all of this we've gotten to know Monti and Robin, who run DRNC, quite well. They work tirelessly to save unwanted dachshunds, or dachshunds whose owners have died, or lost and unclaimed dachshunds, pulling them from animal control facilities, placing them with their network of foster families, and ultimately finding them permanent homes. They have a deep love for this exceptional breed and are committed to finding a loving home for every dog that passes through their rescue. They know this breed and are a wealth of information on health, diet, and temperament issues. They have a working relationship with a wonderful vet in the Chico/Paradise area and do everything they can to make sure the dogs they place are as healthy as possible. My husband and I are so grateful that my Web surfing that day brought these women into our lives, and we thank them when we can by providing transport, pulling dogs from animal control or owners who can't keep them, and making small monetary donations as we are able. There isn't anything we wouldn't do for DRNC, because there isn't anything DRNC wouldn't do for the countless dachshunds out there who need their help. I am happy to recommend them wholeheartedly and without reservation!
