My Boston Terrier/Frenchie mix met with Anna regarding several behavior issues. 90 Minutes with her was pure gold! After getting our new labradoodle pup, Peach, Canine Connection was highly recommended to us by various friends and also our vet. Enrolling Peach in their Pup 1 class was the best decision we made for our sweet Peach! Sarah and her team do an INCREDIBLE job training dog parents how to train their dog using positive reinforcement. We learned sooo much from them. I was so grateful for their safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic. They went above and beyond during this hard time to make sure everyone was kept safe. Peach graduated and we can't wait to start the next class and continue her training with the expertise of Sarah and the staff! After learning about our apartment living situation, Sarah recommended doggie playcare (daycare) for Peach to get her exercise (she was unable to go outside for two weeks after her last vaccine) and for socialization with other dogs. She went for an evaluation and did great but was very shy during playtime with other dogs. The next time we took her to daycare the shyness was gone! The AWESOME daycare staff told us she was go, go, go! And she even got a boyfriend, a super cute Aussie, they were inseparable! 100% false advertising and unprofessional dog handlers. - 0/10 - never take your dog here. This is a review coming from someone who has worked professionally with dogs for the last 6+ years. Now let me break this down for you. I was recommended Canine Connection specifically because I was told the owner, Sarah, was fantastic with sight hounds and loves Salukis. OMGosh! Amazing! It is not easy to find folks who know about salukis, and I have a big, young, rambunctious, smart, smart, did I mention smart saluki mix boy. He is a service dog in training, and wickedly well behaved (once he trusts and respects you - salukis are aloof like that). I was thrilled to find a daycare fit for watching my super amazing dude. This sounded like a dream come true. The website says daycare is overseen by this saluki loving recommendation with outstanding dog knowledge, Sarah... this isn't true. Today I was told by the attendant that she does not even work on premises and that she was working as a teacher, so could not help me (a concerned about my dog customer). Not only is the owner that the website says would be overseeing daycare not there, but there is no one on site with any professional dog training or behavior knowledge. This. Is. Dangerous. Now let me tell you more about the experience Mister Fennel Muffin and I had. Today, we were scheduled for a four hour evaluation for Fennel to join daycare. I never got much info upon scheduling the meet about how it would go, but I figured this was going to be an interview of sorts on both ends. I would get to know them, and they would get to know Fennel. We were met in the parking lot by Mark, an attendant, and immediately taken to a play yard where another person, Camille, came out to join. Fennel, as per saluki usual, was more interested in doing his own thing that the not particularly thrilling humans. He's a polite boy and said hello, but Fennel is a very independent boy. Since we are just launching in, I begin to ask questions. So how does this meet work? I imagine this will be an interview on both sides, and get to know each other? They intended to rapid fire new dogs at Fennel starting with the easiest and make sure he doesn't react... what... really... alright... let's see how this goes. With me there? Seems unwise... but ok.... Have either of you ever worked with a Saluki? One had to google the breed before today and the other had met one or two fairly docile salukis... so no... the two people handling my dog knew nothing about the breed. So! I explain his style of play and communication... "oh yeah yeah, we have dogs like that here!" Cool! Great! They seem confident ‍ Dog 1: more interested in me. Trudy was sweet! Dog 2: more interested in me and dog 1, even though Fennel tried to play. Lucy was gorgeous!! Dogs 1&2 leave. Dog 3 is so big and bouncy (wolf hound) that he busts the lip of the handler while fennel is yelling about it and gets taken inside. Dog 4: stranger danger alerts at me, and fennel jumps in to protect. After all this absurdity, they are unsure about Fennel. Well... yeah... let me explain how you just put my dog through a stressful greet. Mark and Camille seemed to understand how what they just did to my dog did not set him up for succes. I leave... and in less than 30 minutes I receive a call from Mark. After whatever small break he got from rapid fire dog greet (5mins maybe?), Fennel was immediately thrown into a full on play group. I was told Fennel was barking and had hackles up. He's vocal and plays with hackles up... so I honestly don't know if they just can't read play, or I also wouldn't be surprised if Fennel was still completely overwhelmed by their the drivel introduction and handling and was overwhelmed, testing the group for dominance. Either way... bad call to throw a brand new dog you just met, and that was clearly distressed by the rapid fire meet and greet, into a play group so fast... This. Is. Dangerous. For my dog, and for the dogs of their other customers. I came to pick up fennel. I asked to speak to the owner that oversees the daycare and training... that's when I was told Sarah doesn't work on site, and that the manager was out of town. So you are doing a new dog intake WITH NO TRAINED PROFESSIONALS ONSITE?!? This makes me livid. This is so damn dangerous for all the dogs in their care. I was told Sarah will be calling me next week. So the woman that oversees daycare... (according to the website)... can't even speak to me about the dangerous situation at her business until next week. I'll update y'all when I get that call. Any dog handler worth a damn, will give a dog more than 30 minutes to get to know them. This is likely why your evaluation is supposed to be four hours, I would imagine. I hope you have good insurance... and I look forward to my call from you, Sarah. read more

While visiting Chico we were in need of a safe, clean, friendly environment for our five month old Doodle. We couldn't have been more satisfied. From meeting Amber on the phone, to arriving there to be evaluated by Jess, we were very comfortable. Lucy was placed carefully with other dogs of her same social level. She had regular outside playtimes too. She wasn't kenneled but allowed to mingle with staff. They also reassured us with texts and pictures throughout both days that Lucy attended. We LOVE Canine Connection and so does our girl Dolly! We received a recommendation for Canine Connections puppy social from our vet, we have a jack-pit (jack russell/pit bull) so we knew the importance of ensuring her proper socialization. I still remember 10 pound Dolly heading into social for the first time and being put in the area with other shy first timers... she hid under chairs and people's feet. We so wanted her to be in the main area running and romping and soon enough she was. Thanks to the excellent supervision and knowledge from the staff Dolly has become a confident social butterfly. Dolly has tried it all at Canine Connection...puppy kindergarten, daycare, and boarding, and we hope to enroll her in more training classes and possibly agility (YES!!!! they offer that) in the near future. Dolly has been to other daycare facilities all over California, but none compare to Canine Connection. We always know she is someplace safe and having the best possible time when we take her there (the pictures of our girl prove it). The Seville Campus is absolutely amazing and a rarity from what we have seen at other facilities. I liken it to the Disneyland for dogs. Sarah has hired the cream of the crop and you can tell that everyone that works there is in LOVE with dogs! Canine Connection has been invaluable in the socialization of our girl. I LOVE CANINE CONNECTION. We adopted a lovely little nutcase from Butte Humane Society, and immediately realized we were in over our head. At 6 months old, we were having potty accidents, didn't know any tricks, pulled on the leash, was super hyperactive. I wondered if I was a dog person at all. Maybe I should have got a cat. Maybe I just wasn't ready for fido. We had housesit for a couple with two amazing Dobermans. Well behaved, so clever, we made a last ditch effort to save our relationship with our new dog. We asked where they took training classes. We sucked up the fact that the fee was higher than we anticipated, and we gave it a shot. We entered a wonderful small group class. I quickly learned where I was communicating wrong with my dog. Where I was making her crazier. Why she didn't understand what I wanted her to do. I THOUGHT I knew what to do. Oh how wrong I was. If it's not working, your doing it wrong. This is a positive reinforcement facility. Great for a dog who is neurotic. You might think fido won't listen, but she will. Sarah Richardson is a godsend for new puppy parents. I'm sad to say I ever thought about giving up my wonderful Harley, she's a lovely dog. We learned to sit, lay down, chill (favorite), wait, stay, "go to your place" so we can answer the door without them crowding it. We learned some leash skills. We learned a little recall. We crammed all this into about 6-8 weeks. People were so impressed with our little genius dog- which left us baffled because we had been so frustrated with her! I admit, we've not been as good at keeping up the training as we should, we don't practice all these things that frequently, but she still seems to know most of them with a 5 minute refresher. I still attribute her being such a good dog to Canine Connection- and definitely give them all the credit for why we felt confident enough to adopt yet another rescue dog less than a year later. read more

Our high energy doodle loves this place! He goes for daycare twice a week, for grooming once a month, and stays there overnight when we travel. When I think about Canine Connection, what comes to my mind is love, compassion, professionalism, hard working employees and knowing that my dog is in a safe, clean, positive environment .We bring our puppy Trudy their three or four times a week. The Canine Connection is phenomenal! I started taking Scarlett, a mini labradoodle, to Puppy Social as soon as she had the required vaccinations. She, and I, had a blast playing with the other puppies. It wore her out and was a great way to socialize her in a controlled environment. We went to Puppy Kindergarden for training, which was great! I learned so much about how to train Scarlett, and have used the same techniques to teach her other commands/tricks over the last couple years. The class gave me a better understanding of Scarlett and a great foundation we have grown upon. We started Doggie Playcare (dog daycare that is so much fun they call it Playcare) as soon as Scarlett had the required vaccinations and have been going ever since, twice a week for the past 2 years. Big, small, they love them all! The staff is absolutely amazing! The first time I dropped her off, I was a little nervous leaving her (She wasn't nervous at all!). To my surprise, I received a video message of Scarlett playing with another dog, having a great time! It totally eased my worry. That is just one example of the over-the-top-excellence of the staff. They continue to amaze me with the amount of love and care they give Scarlett! They also post pictures on their facebook. It's fun to see your dog having a blast with others. Scarlett has the time of her life every day she's there. She gets time to play her little heart out, and time to rest and relax. She is a happy, tired doodle at the end of the day. Scarlett has stayed at Hotel Seville (boarding) once before, which was great. I completely trust that Scarlett is getting excellent care while she is there! She will be staying again this summer. The Canine Connection has been such an important part of our lives! They have given us a safe, fun place for Scarlett to spend time when her dad and I can't be with her. They do not have breed restrictions like another doggy day care does. They have you bring your dog in and they evaluate your dog and decide if your dog's personality is good. Then your dogs goes for a half day of day care and they observe your dog closely. If your dog does well, then your dog can return for full day care My dog who is an American Bulldog and Pitbull terrier mix, just got home from her half day evaluation, she had a blast. More than 15 years ago I took my first rottweiler to Sarah for training, followed by my second rottweiler, and now our third dog, a pit bull, has benefited from Sarah's expertise and training. Our pit bull passed their evaluation and half day observation with flying colors because of his gentle and loving temperament and now they love him almost as much as we do - and it shows! The staff know him by name, remember which dogs he likes to play with most, and provide details about his day when he's there. Sarah and the staff are very "choosy" about which dogs come to daycare and boarding and about which dogs they put together to play, so I know Karl is safe. They also are consistent with their policies about vaccination - one time we called for a play date, and one of his vaccines had expired, so no play date! They knew before I did that it had expired! We use them for training, play care and boarding. Karl is so happy when we take him there, big doggy grins and tail wagging. And when we pick him up, he is just as happy but way, way more tired! We love how they post pictures of what happened at play time that day - you can see your dog having a great time - they have nothing to hide. Another thing - during basic training you get a lot of dogs with all different personalities and temperaments - and, unfortunately, some owners just really don't know how to handle their dogs (yet). Sarah and the staff are acutely aware of the mix in the room and take steps to make sure each dog stays calm and safe (putting up fences, separating animals). They are not afraid to train the owner, or to step in when needed. They believe each dog has the capability to be a good dog (and each owner CAN be a good owner) and it really shows. Finally - we really love how they have given back to the community with the Woof and Wag Walk. We are so thankful for Sarah and the staff at Canine connections for all the enrichment they bring to our community and especially to Karl! read more
