She still has her happy personality, but she's much more confident, relaxed, and in control, which has made life at home so much more enjoyable for all of us. I would absolutely trust them again with any future dogs or additional training, and I highly recommend them! PS. I noticed another reviewer complaining that they use e-collars. I believe he is confused because he describes them as "electrocution," yet they aren't shock collars and do not deliver an electric shock, nor cause pain. He went in being long overdue and came out looking so good! He got a bath, groom, and haircut, and couldn't be happier! The groomer asked questions to get to know him. From the moment of our first Zoom "audition," I could tell she was no nonsense: she could train Hazel, but it would also take work, honestly and dedication from me, as well. Prior to drop off, I was provided with specific directions, a handbook and easy to follow instructions on exactly how the training would go. The minute I dropped off Hazel with Tiffany, my heart felt hopeful for the first time in months. Hazel immediately recognized Tiffany as a kindred spirit who commanded respect but made sure her first job was to connect with my dog. From there, I was receiving daily, lengthy updates that included videos describing what/how she was training as well as lectures that provided guidance I could follow once she came home. The part that made me realize I had made the right decision was that, within a couple of days, Tiffany had identified Hazel's root issues that were leading to her aggression and adjusted her training accordingly. It was amazing to watch her with Hazel: her focus, her calm, quiet demeanor and Hazel's response to her: trust. Once Hazel came home, the real work started and Tiffany is available 24/7 the first 72 hours and then available during her normal work hours for the life of your dog. That's an incredible commitment for what you're paying to know that your dog is in the best hands possible. I can't speak highly enough of Tiffany (and her sweet husband). I was fortunate enough to book a month long board and train with Tiffany for my dog, who was a pandemic pup who had some medical trauma that robbed us of important foundational training time when he was a puppy. He's a strong guy as an adult and I was having a lot of trouble instilling training into him since he was not a food motivated dog, especially when it came to walking on a leash. He'd pulled me off my feet a few times and I knew I needed a professional to really help me become the best and safest dog owner I could for him. I live in the country , so my German Shephard and I walk the property as well as some of our…read moreneighbors orchards everyday. So he is almost always off leash given our location. One morning he ran off and I found him scavenging a carcass and before I could get to him, sure enough he got bone stuck in his throat. Fortunately it was not effecting his breathing, but he could not swallow and was clearly in great distress. I got him back home, called my Vet. They had no DR on staff until the afternoon. I then called every other Vet in my area, and they could either not see me because of being over capacity for appointments, or there was no Vet on Staff at the time. I loaded Max in the Truck, called ahead and told them we were coming. It was a long drive, 40 minutes with a dog in distress. When we arrived they got us in right away. Even though Max is a big , strong, and difficult dog, the veterinarian and staff were able to get the bone out of his throat with no sedation, no major procedure. They did not do anything extra, did not require an ultra sound of an X-Ray, and after all was said and done, it probably only cost me a little more than my regular Vet would have charged, and that was for an Emergency appointment. I know people will complain about the cost of VCA, but this is a 24 hour emergency service, and I for one am glad the community at least has this option given that extreme Vet shortage, and IMO anyone that takes on the responsibility of caring for an animal should be ready for things like this to come up. When I called, I spoke to Jeannie (forgive me if I misspelled) who has the utmost pleasant phone etiquette and compassion. It was going to take 50 minutes to get to Chico, but Jeannie was able to get us an appointment by the time we arrived, which was immediately. As we arrived, our pet was napping and comfortable. We were checked in by Alina, who understood what was going on from the detailed notes left by Jeannie, and offered to come out to the car when our appointment time was ready (only about 15 minutes) to keep our pet comfortable. Once inside, our pet was breathing rapidly. Another Veterinarian (I presume, I didn't catch her name) stopped in their tracks as they were passing by and asked if we were there for emergency services due to the heavy panting, and had a look of concern. I appreciate she stopped to ask, fortunately at that time we were not. When it came time to our appointment, Jewel took our pet's vitals and showed great compassion. Dr.Sierra made her recommendation ever so gently, to which my mother and I understood and agreed. When it was time to say "see you later" to my mother's best friend, we were able to be in the room and share her last moments. Pets are not just 4-legged friends, they are family and the only family to some. The care, compassion, kindness, concern and professionalism were by far the best we have ever received. I have been to a different VCA location 15 years ago and cannot say the same as the VCA Valley Oak location. They have an ever-changing array of newly groomed dogs underfoot in the front area where they work; they keep them and their own dogs around for companionship while they are working and, miraculously, all the animals get along. Each of the animals look movie-star perfect when they're done, the haircuts are adorable. When I first moved to Chico my older black cat was dealing with a skin condition that made her lose her fur in chunks (now finally, after five years, healed.) They treated this beat up looking sweetheart with all the care and regard of the beautiful healthy animals and it meant a great deal to our family to see her being cherished. But what I want to share most is that during the Camp Fire, All Cats and Dogs have taken in pets of fire evacuees and groomed them for free. Owner Alex says "In many cases, the fire evacuees left with only their pets and lost everything. I figure that giving them back a clean fluffy dog to hold is the least I can do."
