I wish I would have read the yelp reviews before ordering. I too am facing inexplicable delays with the shipping of my desk. When initially ordering on 9/2 the website clearly indicated, and as still indicated the 80x30 desk is in stock. Fast forward to a week later and my order still shows status 'awaiting fulfillment'. I called customer service, and they of course blamed it on a 'vendor' related issue. They promised to update my order status with the updated information on my actual expected ship date..and of-course this did not happen. Honestly, from a legal perspective it's viable to sue the company for false advertising and making misleading statements on their website. Customers are being falsely mislead to believe they are ordering an in stock item with a shipping turnaround of 3-5 days. When in actuality the item is not available. So we have a situation where consumers are paying for non-tangible product. Companies like this need to be sued to get their act together. If Uplift cant get their affairs in order soon, I am going to proceed with legal action. I will update this review upon my research with the appropriate agencies to contact, and legal routes available for all who have been wronged by this companies unethical business practice UPDATE (9/17) I called customer service every day this week. And every single day they assured my the order was shipping by EOD, and I would be receiving an email. Clearly they were lying just to get me off the phone. I'm going to be filing a BBB complaint first thing in the morning. This company needs to be rated an F. I urge everyone else to check out the BBB site. It seems they have someone who monitors the site and responds. Next steps after the BBB complaint is going to be a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for Uplifts Unfair and Deceptive business practices. Everyone who sees it comments on the beauty of the wood. More (ok, just as) important for me it is improving my desk work in every way. Walking on it puts thousands of extra steps in my day with literally no effort. Even when sitting, my desk is now exactly the right height for me and the reduction in fatigue is noticeable. UPLIFT Desk & Human Solution - My beautiful new uplift desk! - Furniture Stores Near Me - Austin, Texas

First, the red cedar is gorgeous- the photos really don't do it justice. Unfortunately, cedar is a VERY soft wood. If you drop something (e.g. your phone) on the desk, it will create an indent. This works really well to create a "worn-in" look to the desk but you need to have great care with the wood. Setup for the L-shaped desk (right return) was fairly straightforward with the upliftDesk gear and directions. Because of the soft wood, follow the recommendation of two people to lift and flip components to minimize damaging the wood in any way. I suspect things are easier when you have a single panel vs. the dual panel for L-Shaped desks. The joining of the two boards is a little bit tricky -- it's a type of connection where you need to tighten a nut to join the wood. Given the soft nature of the wood, it needs to be super tight and there's not a lot of room for standard tools. As for the build.... unfortunately, after 2 months with the desk, the far right leg of the return seems to be at a slightly awkard angle. There's definitely a gap where the leg joins the wood. Two screws attaching the long crossbar to the wood have fallen off from underneath the desk. The screw just stripped right off the wood because the wood is too soft. The source of this stress seems to be a combination of the joint between two large panels of soft wood, the weight of the wood itself and having inadequate screws for the type of wood. I'm not a wood worker, but it seems like you need a better joining mechanism and better screws to account for the wood compressing from movement or use. Also, after 2 months of use, I find myself encountering the dreaded E07 error where the leg heights of the three legs are *slightly* out of balance and I have to "reset" the legs. I do this a couple of times a week now. I'm sure that doesn't help the stress on the far right leg of the desk. I tried emailing support but unfortunately, not very helpful. While their offer to send more screws is nice, it will not address the issue of soft wood and inadequate support build for the soft wood. I *WOULD NOT* recommend anybody purchase the red cedar wood for an L-Shaped desk. You might have better luck with a harder wood (eg. walnut) or if you really want the red cedar, stick with a single pane desk. read more

I purchased a custom uplift desk in January - as advertised, it took 4 months for delivery. While the desk is nice and works very well, each of my (many) customer service interactions fell far below my expectations. Emails were not responded to, phone calls were not returned... I was also initially told that installation was included with the delivery - apparently that only applies to Texas, which was not communicated to me during the quoting process. I spent a significant amount of money on this desk, and bought many accessories to go with it. I ended up not needing some of the accessories, and wanted to purchase more of others, but the company wanted to charge me outbound shipping in addition to the return shipping, AND a restocking fee. I spent over 3k, and they nickel and dimed me on small parts returns. For such a high end product I expected better service. I won't be a return customer. read more

Of all the reviews and discussions about standing desks, these folks seemed to be everywhere (with positive reviews on a number of sites and great picture tutorials). So I needed to get one of the more expensive desk models, and started a dialogue with their sales staff. After a couple of weeks I had all the answers I needed and launched on my big purchase. I purchased a very expensive Uplift desk and custom Steelcase Think chair ($1,100+) from The Human Solution. The chair has been causing pain in my legs after sitting in it for short periods of time due to two metal support bars underneath the seat which you can feel pressing into your thighs through the very thinly padded seat cushion. Terrible design. The orthopedist I went to said it is causing nerve compression pain and advised I stop using the chair. Neither Steelcase nor The Human Solution will do anything to help. THS's customer service person was extremely rude and tried to sell me on a $75 glorified foam pillow/extra cushion which can be found for $30 on Amazon and has a bad review score there anyway (search SupporTech Cushion Chair Pad). They would not take the chair back or exchange it, and would not contact the manufacturer to get a replacement seat or custom pad to fit the shape of the seat. Steelcase advised this may be possible but they "only work with dealers, not direct consumers". Those looking at all these reviews of The Human Solution should be warned many of them are from fake/new profiles, and that despite the premium price tags of their products, they DO NOT stand behind them whatsoever. read more

Not a big deal, replacement parts should be delivered in 3 days time. Unfortunately, UpLift waited till 7pm the following day to inform me that "my account did not have a phone number and are unable to process replacement parts." - How did you send the first half of the order? I am trying to understand how a product with 5 year warranty is out of warranty within 8 months of purchase. =========== I am very disappointed of the treatment provided by Uplift Desk / Human solution. I bought an office set in the middle of May 2020, comprised of an office chair, desk and desk accessories including a dual monitor attachment that was returned within 30 days due to its poor quality. I spent a significant amount of money knowing it was going to be the needed investment to work from home due to the pandemic, plus, a ten-year desk warranty and a five-year chair warranty will make it a better investment. The desk, so far, has been working well but the chair started braking apart in the month of December, barely seven months of seldom use as I ended up not working from home fulltime. The problem, the chair is made out of cheap and fragile material. The headrest is attached to the back support by a neck-rail mechanism. The headrest has a neck extension with side languets that fully insert into the rail mechanism by sliding it from the top. With no much use, the side languets started to break off little by little and piece by piece. These are the details 1) Sales receipt #SO231054 2) Chair CHR466-BLK 3) I contacted their customer service line to express my concern and make use of the five year warranty in January 19th, 2021. 4) Due to lack of follow up on the claim and after multiple emails, calls I was just told my chair was out of warranty. After talking with customer service, they said they would send them to me. I received the confirmation email and instead of sending me 5 screw inserts, they are only shipping me 3 screw inserts. If i would of/could of use my eyes to read bad comments, i wouldn't be ashamed of being taken to the bank. The scheme is the following: - They collect money - They put your money to work for about a month (your order WILL BE on backorder) - If and when product arrives you will have to put together following strategic steps to finally realize your desktop is damage. (Check that first) - Then you have to deal with customer service to be offered a refund of $25, repair kit or just simply hear from rep. "It's okay, don't worry! You can still use tabletop". I ordered my desk with the Human Solution. The desk that came as nearly perfect but had one minor flaw where the corner of the desk was damaged. It wasn't major, but still noticeable enough and somewhat disappointing. Thankfully when I reached out to their customer support they were extremely responsive and friendly. They gave me a few options that I could reimburse to make up for the damage. I took the in store credit to buy one of their stools. The customer service representative was super helpful and friendly. The worst follow up for customer service. The product is ok and the price is decent, but shipping and customer service is extremely poor. When you call in the follow up they send you to voice mail. I called immediately back and the guy I was trying to reach answered. He was just trying to avoid the call because they screwed up multiple times. The first time I ordered a desk it was 1 month late. The second time I ordered another desk they sent it to the wrong address. Now it's lost and is a week late. They said they'll send out another one but haven't yet. They're a mess over there. I shouldn't have bought from another place. That was my mistake. These guys are a joke. Save yourself a headache and avoid them at all costs. I stopped in to the Human Solution to find an office chair to use while sitting at the variable height desk I purchased from another company. (I use a kyBounder for standing). I work from home full time and wanted something just as ergonomic as the setup my company gave me in the office. Tyler was very helpful and not at all pushy. The Human Solution has models in every price range from modest to WHOA. I sat in a few chairs and it didn't take long to find The One. I tried other models in other price points and while they were all very attractive, none fit the way my body needed or performed the way I wanted. And that right there is what you need to understand about setting up a home office: you're going to be in it for hours upon hours. If you are working 40 hours at a desk, your office chair is just as important as your mattress. My words, not Tyler's. When I told Tyler I had selected a model he let me know that I could pick the upholstery which I figured would cost a lot more but the tag prices included the custom configuration - actually he quoted me a price lower than the tag which was a pleasant surprise. And score! I didn't need to take home a boring black chair, though Tyler said I could if I wanted to leave the store with a chair that minute. I was willing to wait. Fast forward to less than 1 week later and my chair is here, delivered right to my front door fully assembled and ready to use. The experience was great for the entire process. Everything Tyler said would happen: it happened. I got a full invoice in person, then I got an email confirming my order and estimating the ship date. Then I got an email that the chair had shipped from the manufacturer to the carrier, and then I got an email saying it was out for delivery. I wish I had purchased an Uplift desk from Tyler as well. The desk I got from another company is fine but the customer service wasn't nearly as good as my experience with The Human Solution. read more

Overall, this was a good experience in the store. Folks were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Given that you're paying some decent cash for office furniture, you expect their support staff to be just as professional. Guess what? They absolutely are not. The 2 delivery guys were pretty thug. Which you know, personal taste and all....but again, you're delivering not-cheap office furniture to businesses and people's homes. Then there's the common sense factor: does it make sense to drag a new $500+ office chair across 100ft of wet pavement before it's even technically been delivered? Then go cop an attitude when the customer calls you out on it? Of course I'm not taking delivery of a chewed up, chrome chipped chair. Really? Plus, you couldn't read the order correctly and argued about the number of items to be delivered. My receipt copy shows 2. Your copy shows 2. 2 is not 1. There is a discrepancy between what you should have and do have. For the kicker....it is currently 94 and muggy outside. These guys couldn't be bothered to close my front door while entering my home or after I asked them to leave. When I called them out on it as they are high tailing it back to their unmarked white van, I got the ever so pleasant turn of the head and spit in my direction. Classy employees Human Solution. Classy. 2 stars for the store and sales folks. Everyone else, you probably need to find a different line of work if furniture delivery stretches your limits of customer satisfaction and common decency. Update: Changing this to 1 star. The customer service follow-up is horrible. Rude service from supposed managers, lies about when shipping is actually going to occur (which is a common theme for their reviews), and we got the literal "what will it take to make you go away" from a manager. FYI - when asked about the spitting incident, we were told "well that's a he said she said situation." Why is it ok for a delivery guy to EVER spit on, around, or in the general vicinity of a customer or their property? The manager's answer: "that's neither here nor there." WOW. Ordered a desk from here, the quality is good and it works as advertised. I would say there are only two complaints I have. First, I concur with many others that their shipping policy doesn't match up with what I read when I placed the order. They claimed it would ship within 48 hours, well, it shipped over a week later and they never really communicated that well. The other issue is, I ordered 3 out of 3 of the possible power outlet add-on options on the desk. Let's face it, a computer desk that doesn't have outlets is kind of pointless these days. So that was 6 (2 in each hole) power outlets on back of the desk! I thought awesome! Well, they're all individually cabled. So you still have to literally plug in 6 power cables for them to work, they're nothing more than extension chords crammed into 3 holes in your desk (and they don't even fit well, I had to bore out two holes further for them to seat properly. I would have skipped these if I had known and just mounted my own strip! So yeah, now I have 6 power cables hanging down from my desk to my floor for the extra $$ I spent. No pictures or anything could have prepared me for that, pretty misleading IMO. read more

My wife requested a sit-stand-up desk for her office a while back. I did some quick Google research and found The Human Solution website. I thought this was going to be out of our price range based on their cool designs, videos and support material. However, we were able to custom design a sit-stand desk within our style and budget. We ordered it the next day as a Mother's day gift. I know, yes, I roll that way! The gift that keeps on producing, I mean giving. The boxes arrived within the time estimated, and one of our staff installed it within a couple hours. If they only paid attention to how they were setting it up (plan the install), they would have placed the under-mount PC cradle near the wall, but that QC issue is with my own staff. They did say it was a bit of a pain to put together, but their second will go much faster. We now meet in her office using a pre-programmed mutual stand up height that automatically raises the desk to the perfect position. It makes collaboration meetings much more productive. No hovering over her space. Get the "One Touch Digital Memory Keypad" for sure. I can vouch that the dual monitor holder/arms are just awesome. And, the bamboo top is just one sharp looking addition that was worth the upgrade. I scored big brownie points with this purchase, and now I want one. Well, I'll be getting one soon! We've ordered a few of the Uplift desks for our office and are looking forward to getting more. The experience has been largely positive. The desks themselves are of great quality, but give yourself time and space to assemble - there's drilling and kneeling and standing and cursing and dropping things involved. Once the main desk is put together, it's a sturdy piece of furniture. I highly recommend the monitor arms; they are SOLID. I would skip the half circle drawer, though - it's kind of a waste. Other hint: install the monitor arm FIRST before you install any of the under-desk wire management so you know how far back you need to go. Also, why do the power grommets have TWO cords coming out of them? Seems like you could have 2 outlets with one cord. Keep that in mind when doing your purchase / wiring plan. My biggest concern was the electric motors malfunctioning. I figured they would last a long time because they were way overpowered for the application. I also talked to one of their CSRs and was very impressed with his knowledge and efficiency. It wasn't long before I realized that I could get everything I needed at a reasonable price from The Human Solution: stand-up table stand, monitor booms, floor pad, cable organizers, power strip - the works. It arrived in several boxes exactly when they promised. I was delighted to find out that all of the packing materials were recycled. And contents were rock solid. The table stand and monitor booms are built to last. Heavy duty materials. Smooth welding beads. First rate construction. The casters make it easy to roll out the table for cleaning. The 3'x5' floor pad is cushy, rugged and I really like the thick lip that protects its edges from wear. Assembling the table was made easier by their assembly video online. Everything went together smoothly. Probably took me about 3-4 hours from the time I started to take about my old table to the time I was working at my new desk. And you're going to love the way the motors purr. Very smooth and quiet as the desk elevation changes. And the presets are space age. Just hit one button and it returns to the desired position slowing down just before it stops. The monitors are now hanging right where I want to see them. Having two independent arms, one for each monitor, is the way to go. They are infinitely adjustable. The only downside is that they shake when I type. Looks like I need to adjust the casters to level the table. In conclusion, I'd like to express my appreciation to The Human Solution for providing excellent equipment that will last a lifetime at a price I can afford. read more

I work from home and sit on my butt all day. My back began to bother me and I decided to do something about it. After doing research I found that the SteelCase Leap chair was pretty good for folks in my situation so I set off to find out. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that The Human Solution in Austin was a dealer of SteelCase products. I went in to the store a couple times. Each time spending about an hour testing out various chairs and their UpLift desks. I did not intend to purchase an adjustable standing desk but after seeing it in person I was sold on the idea. I've been using the desk for about 5 days now and being able to break up the sitting monotony with standing has changed my energy and focus throughout the day. The desk and chair are absolutely great. I was super happy with the service I received at The Human Solution. Claire spent a lot of time with me during both visits answering all of my questions and helping me make decisions on customizing the desk and the chair. She never tried to upsell me on anything and seemed to have my best interests at heart. She was quick to respond via email with my follow up questions as well. I opted for the $40 extra desk assembly because I was sure I would screw it up. Their delivery guy Dan was awesome. He kept me up to date on when he would arrive and worked around my schedule. When he arrived he quickly got to work setting the desk up. He was quick and efficient in getting my desk set up and offered me a lot of tips and options to customize the setup of the desk. The Human Solution makes these UpLift desks and I'm surprised they are able to do them at such a cost effective price. I was skeptical at first but the desk has completely lived up to my expectations. The chair is great too! I walked out of there spending way more money than I thought I would but I wish I made this purchase years ago before I got used to my old sedentary work habits. read more

In short: terrible company, poor quality of the product, poor technical support, dishonest review system on their website, lack of motivation to follow up on anything with their customers. Here is the issues that I had with this company: 1) Desk stopped working after a couple of weeks (right after I installed second surge protector from Uplift Desk). When I spoke with their support first time, I was told I will receive a call back. Nobody called me back. Their warehouse / warranty department did not bother themselves with communication follow-up, they just kept sending replacement parts leaving it up to me to figure out what I was supposed to do with it. 2) I had to uninstall my monitor arm with 4 monitors fixed to it, disassemble the L-shaped desk and change out all its legs, only to figure out that there was nothing wrong with these legs. The issue was due to their 8-outlet surge protector, which turned out to be incompatible with desk control box. I was able to consistently replicate the issue by powering up the desk through the surge protector and without it. 3) I shipped that surge protector back to UpliftDesk and it was delivered on August 1. Still no refund on August 20th. Sent e-mail to Jeremy Farrar asking where the refund is - no response. 4) I received an e-mail asking to review their surge protectors, so I did. I gave it one star. I bought two of these surge protectors. One was making noise when moved around - turned out its plastic internals were shuttered. I threw it in trash since it was past the return window. Second surge protector was incompatible with control box (as described above). My one-star review did not show up on their website, they censored it. Rating system on their website is fake. This company has lost all credibility in my eyes, so all I can recommend to other potential customers is - stay away! I understand that equipment breaks and things happen, but how the company deals with it reveals their true face... and so far it looks pretty ugly. read more

I purchased a Steelcase Leap through these guys. It was a special order (color and fabric selection) and I received it 6 days after they placed the order. That's fast! And I love the chair. The staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. No sales pressure, even when I told them I had to go home first and look at my office again before choosing a color. I appreciated that. When I came back to make the purchase, i was just about to ask for the Yelp discount (the one where you have to post on social media first) when they just offered me the same discount without the hoop jumping. Thanks! I much prefer to leave a review like this on my own terms. My only complaint is that they seemed understaffed at the time. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and I think there were only two sales associates and probably 7-8 customers waiting for help. And it was hard to tell who was a customer and who was staff. A quick "we'll be with you as soon as we can" would clear up that confusion and prevent the awkward "do you work here?" encounters with other customers. I'm not going to ding them for that though, because maybe that's unusual and when they did get to me, they were great. read more

Great quality furniture. I love my UpLift stand up desk! Glad to buy from a company in the good ol' US of A. I purchased it December 11, 2014 as a Christmas present (to myself), but it didn't arrive in San Francisco till December 29. I was told it should definitely arrive before Xmas. I think my order was misplaced - dropping one star for that. Once received, the desk was easy to assemble. It came in two heavy boxes, one small with the legs ~70lbs and another with the desktop. Easy to handle with two people. Assembly took about 45 mins with simple hand tools and predrilled holes. The lift is fairly quiet and the desktop surface is great. Very durable and will last a long time. Plenty of desktop space, which is good because I'm messy. The memory positions are great. The lift starts and stops a little slower so it doesn't knock anything on the desk over. Nice. I also like the fact that it stops automatically at the memory positions - no need to hold the button down like on the videos. I also got the UpLift Advanced Wire Management Kit which keeps all the cabling very tidy. In hindsight, all I needed was the spacious cable management enclosure and the power strip, but you can never have enough zip-ties. I recommend The Human Solution and would use them again. read more

I ordered a custom 8'x3' cedar top 4-leg Uplift desk from this company on 11/3/15. The desk took over 8 weeks to deliver despite their estimate of 4-6 weeks. During this time I had to constantly stay on top of the sales people to make sure the desk was ever going to ACTUALLY ship. When the desk finally arrived many of the pre-drilled holes were off by up to 1/4" and needed to be re-drilled. Also, the CPU holder doesn't actually fit my CPU (the tower is too wide) and they did nothing the communicate the limitations of the CPU holder to me. The worst part of working with this company is the complete lack of communication. The sales agent (Abraham) and the customer service lead (Daniel) never got back in touch with me about the problems I had working with them. Abraham claimed they would try to issue me a partial refund but then just dropped off the face of the planet after passing the situation onto Daniel. I still have never heard from either of them again to this day. I guess I just expected more when spending 3K on a desk... Edit: After talking further with the staff at The Human Solution they offered to refund 10% of the cost of my desk for the delay and provide me a free CPU holder that will actually fit my PC. Communication was also better the second time around (maybe they were extra busy over the holidays). While I did have several problem with the company initially they have made their best effort to correct the situation which is really all I could ask. Finally I'd just like to note after having my desk for over a month I absolutely love it. read more

I paid $320 for full installation of desk and components. Desk came in early August whereas monitor arms were delayed again and again, eventually delivered in November. I had to install the desk in the time being since it was in 3 large boxes taking up a lot of my living space. When arms finally arrived, Uplift was going to charge me another $175 to install them, claiming I shouldn't have installed the desk if I was still waiting for the arms. I found that to be disingenuous considering that it took another three months for the monitor arms to arrive and I would have had three huge boxes cluttering my living space all that time. They would only refund $30 (less than 10%) of the installation cost. I regret not having sent the whole kit and kaboodle back when the incomplete delivery arrived in August. Will never buy from Uplift again. Buyer beware. read more
