I've been to both Toy Joys in Austin plenty of times. The main location on Burnet is always a place of joy for my girlfriend when she's in town. Even when she's not in town, I find myself going there for her to get Sonny Angels and Smiskis that are oh so popular these days. The store's entrance has slightly been taken over by blind boxes, but if you step to the other side, there are so many exciting toys all over the place here. I love Toy Joy. All the locations. This one is next to my dentist office and I usually arrive early so I come in to kill time and browse. The thing is, I can never just browse I always end up buying something. The selection is just insane. Literally anything and everything you can think of, they have. If they don't they will do their best to order it for you. Love shopping place where the people working really want to be there. The folks here have a passion for what they do and it comes across in volumes when they are assisting customers. read more

This is one of the biggest toy stores in Austin equipped with a candy store and coffee shop. The selection is huge, everything seems to be around msrp. They even have 15% off gundams on Sunday. Other than that not a whole lot of deals. There are outside vendors that will stop by sometimes with extra trinkets and tattoos. read more

Toy Joy is a highlight of our Austin trips. They have a variety of collectibles - from classic toys to plushies to Sanrio merchandise and even anime figures. The location is clean and very organized - it's clear the staff puts a lot of care into making the shopping experience a great one. The candy/dessert shop is also great! Great prices for most items and an amazing selection. I was there this week and they had a surplus of Sonny Angels and Smiskis. They also have Hello Kitty, Pokémon, Kirby, Sonic and Smoko items. Plenty of blind boxes to choose from, but these are marked up. The only issue I've had with this store is the horrible service. The employees here are rude, standoffish and seemingly dislike their job and all customers. Every experience I've had here, the employees are my least favorite part. The workers in the candy section are the only slightly friendly ones. Although this store has plenty to offer and is popular, the staff makes this store a pass in my opinion. If you can deal with a lack of service and rudeness from virtually every employee in the front section, this is a good spot for miscellaneous plushies and blind boxes. read more

This place was awesome! So many cool toys and trinkets to see and in the back there's candy and coffee. I got a latte, it was to good but I was also very indecisive about what I wanted. The candies were all so cool to look at they have some on display and then some set up in clear compartments that are charged per 1/4 a pound! The girls working were all so sweet and attentive! A lot of item prices seemed too much for to be honest so I didn't get anything other than my coffee. But they have so many amazing things to see and if you have the money, you'll definitely be in here deciding what to get! read more

I loved Toy Joy!! I had no idea what this place honestly. My wife had suggested it and I went without knowing fully what to expect. The selection of models, the friendly staff, the delicious sweets in the back and more were all amazing things!! Looking through the collection of models I found myself looking at anything and everything I could've imagined, Tokyo ghoul, Naruto, attack on titan, one piece, demon slayer, chainsaw man and so many more!! The highlight of my visit was sweets in the back. After looking through a bunch of studio ghibli and clothes in the back I found a whole desert bar in the back that had all these different kinds of fudge! The woman behind the counter was incredibly patient with us as we looked through the selection and asked so many questions. this place has something for all ages and I loved it! I didn't get to go to Toy Joy's main location in downtown Austin so I was glad to see they have a little store in the airport. This little spot is the perfect place to find a unique interesting toy including many small items that will pack in a carryon. They also had candy in novelty tins. I debated a deck of Uno cards featuring Mario but ultimately I decided to pass. Although I didn't buy anything I certainly enjoyed looking around this compact store of "funness." This is the new location on burnet not the airport. Honestly such a fun place to see all the toys available. They even have a lot of anime merchandise too. Some of them are actually pretty cool but pricey. In the back, there's a small bakery options with pasty, drinks, and ice cream. I want to take this opportunity, use this platform to share my amazing experience at Toy Joy Burnet Rd. Not just for all the great goodies, but for their kindness. My daughter (11) recently got diagnosed with epilepsy and it's so new to us and it's been hard. She had her first public seizure right there in Toy Joy. It happened right in front of the bulk candy area. The staff were amazing. They brought over a pillow (one staff even gave us her hoody for cushion), they gave us our space, brought over water and tissue for this mother who was a crying mess. I had seen the Toy Joy shop in the Austin airport before so when I saw this driving by I knew I had to go check this one out. It has far more things than the airport shop. This location has a dessert bar in the back with ice cream, candy, and a place to sit down. Photo-worthy. There are a lot of anime figures, toys, and some cool simple items like bouncy balls. The prices are a bit high but most toy stores do mark up their prices. Parking can be a bit tight with the little lot but we were able to park ok. Even though we didn't buy anything it was fun looking around here. read more

Give yourself time to browse here, and enter with self-control because this is a glutton's dream. The amount of toys and variety is vast with the occasional spurt of fond childhood nostalgia that makes you want to buy it just because. Like another reviewer mentioned, for the most part, prices are pretty fair. There's definitely some overpriced goods, but they do have a lot of unique imports that can make you justify the price in your mind. Because where else would you find it? If you like plush toys, Sanrio, brain stimulating games, stickers, classic books, dinosaurs, fake poo, legos, humorous gadgets and collectibles...come on in! Personally, I ended up buying a Mister Rogers bumper sticker because we all know that's one of life's necessities. I'm most excited about the mini crankshaft music boxes that play"Happy Birthday" and "The Wedding March" that will make really cute additions to some gifts I'm giving this year. Oh! And if they haven't seduced you enough, to add further to any temptation you might have, those tricky devils connected "Toy Joy" to a candy store named "Yummi Joy". This entire little strip mall is wonderful, really. We went from eating an omelet breakfast to thrifting (New Bo is bomb), playing in Toy Joy and then eating vegan ice-cream. Uhh yes! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because there are some items that are demonic and dabble in the dark arts like tarot cards, lots of Harry Potter and such that I am definitely not a fan of. I'm going to break the ice by admitting that Toy Joy is a guilty pleasure of mine. I try to limit my visits to once a month as I always come out of there with a bag full of goodies, from candies to cat figurines, plushies, solar powered bobbleheads, magnets, stickers, cards, and more (oh, so much more!) The second Airport Blvd Toy Joy location is a larger version of the original downtown store, conveniently located only steps away from Sweet Ritual, a delicious vegan ice cream shop. It's big, it's filled with toys, gifts and nostalgia items, it's basically a magical wonderland for kids AND grownups. There's a candy wall with numerous vegan and gluten-free options too. I can't imagine why anyone would not enjoy visiting Toy Joy, unless they'd previously murdered their own inner child. In which case they're just a soulless shell posing as a human, and such person's advice should not be trusted anyway. Go by yourself, with a date or bring the kids. Fun guaranteed! read more

Toy Joy has always been one of my most treasured stores in Austin. I went there the first time I visited, and later brought every single visitor to peruse the incredible and fun selection of toys and collectibles. This new store is roomy and their choices on how to fill that space are fantastic. I'm not sure I've ever walked out of Toy Joy without something. I feel most items are priced according to quality and uniqueness. From tiny hands to put on each finger for $1 to a very adult collectible of Batman, you will find something here that floats your boat. And, I appreciate that the staff has never made me feel badly for playing around. You are meant to have fun here, and they let you! We recently moved from Los Angeles to Austin and were thrilled to spend Saturday exploring with a new friend, from the Austin area. We happened upon Toy Joy, due to the local vegan ice cream shop Sweet Ritual, which has a new pop up location inside Toy Joy. We entered where the ice cream/candy portion is in the shop and patiently waited to try a few of the flavors. My other half is vegan and he picked his ice cream and paid. Afterwards, the three of us wandered the rest of the shop, finding fun toys to purchase. While we were wandering around, one of the sales clerks walked up to my partner and I and whispered that there was a new rule that required any bag to be kept at the front counter, or left in the car. She motioned that my friend also needed to adhere to the rule, but once the sales person saw my friends tiny wallet, said my friend didn't need to leave her wallet anywhere. I was a bit surprised and taken aback - as normally that's not a requirement when browsing in a store. I also found it incredibly odd, when after I put my small purse in my car - there were several other people who wandered the shop with much larger hand bags/backpacks and who were NEVER asked to put their bags at the front register or back in their car. Now, one can only speculate as to why we were asked. Our group of three as a whole, is over the age of 25, well mannered and brought no kids. Two of us are over the age of 30 and look Caucasian. The friend we were hanging out with is a Texas native, and black. After we were told by the sales clerk about the "new" bag policy, the clerk made her way back to the register, passing a couple of other people, with purses or hand bags. I watched a few very blonde/white women with large tote bags walking around and the sales clerks never mentioned the bag policy to them. There was only one other single time, that I saw her mention it to another group of 2 women, and those women did not appear to be Caucasian. However for me as a business owner, I think it's important to bring this incident to the open and have a discussion as to why it was put in place and the oddness in the fact that it only targets certain people within the store. I've had my business for 4 years and have sold at countless craft fairs and markets. While it's certainly different than a brick and mortar, theft can be problematic and cause for concern. I've found ways to mitigate theft though and how to handle it, to ensure no one feels like they are a target, especially because of the color of their skin. If you are going to have a policy on leaving bags at the front register or inside the customers vehicle, please post signs on the door and windows, informing customers of said rule. Have a sales clerks stand at the door to enforce said rules, before customers enter the premise fully. And make sure they tell every customers - because targeting only 2 sets of people, rather than the whole 15 or so customers, makes those customers question your reasons. read more
