But- here's my adult perspective review. I love coming here for the nostalgia, gifts for everyone in my life, the seasonal items, and for The dopamine hit. I love all of their fidget toys, tiny silly toys like baby doll race cars (as in a car in the shape of a baby), blind box toys and their trading set up, and baby section. This is where you go when your friend is having a baby and already has all of the gear she needs. This is where you get stickers, your Christmas ornaments, a jellycat moon that is larger than you, a family of squirrels, a custom dollhouse family...I could go on and on.

My visit to Terra Toys on Anderson Lane started with my mission: find a Dragon Ball Z Action Figure. What I thought would be a quick shopping trip turned into an adventure through one of Austin's most unique and charming toy stores. Walking into Terra Toys transported me into the wonderful world of imagination. Talk about sensory overload...color explosion, oversized stuffed animals, toys at every turn. Every section of the store was filled with toys of interest...from classic toys and puzzles to collectibles, games, art supplies, and items I had never seen before. Wow, wow, wow! My search for the perfect Dragon Ball Z Action Figure became a treasure hunt. With so many collectibles lurking throughout the store, I found myself scanning shelves, peeking into display cases, and inspecting every area of the store in search of a Dragon Ball Z figurine. Unfortunately, my quest for the illusive Dragon Ball Z came to an end. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, happily walking me to different parts of the store looking for a Dragon Ball Z. This place has sadly gone downhill. Went to Lucky 7 today with my boys today (13 and 10) at their…read morerequest. My 10 year old (literally the happiest, most positive human) wanted to sell some of his Pokémon cards that he researched recently went up in price. When we approached a younger gentleman at the counter he told us that they don't buy cards on the weekends but asked an older gentleman next to him (dark hair, buzz cut) if he would at least look at them. My son was excited and grinning ear to ear! As the man approached us with what can only be described as a RBF, he just told my son how his cases were all wrong and why did he have them in these cases? My son's face went from elated to practically melting. He is literally 10 years old!!!!! As he continued to insult him, I asked the man multiple times what cases they SHOULD be in....it took me asking three times to get any sort of answer. They even sold those cases behind the counter but he didn't even offer for us to buy them and frankly, by that point they weren't getting any of my money. He gruffly left even though he said they would be interested in buying the cards. Tonight, my son sold one of those cards online for $120 (he paid $30 initially). I am so happy that he didn't let the experience at Lucky 7 dampen his moment. I am sure he will successfully sell the other cards online as well. When we first started going to Lucky 7 we loved that it was a local, family-owned business- that is how we like to spend our money and show up in our community. But sadly, we won't be doing that with this business anymore. Every time we have gone to this store there are a ton of kids, but sadly they do not know how to treat them - or frankly, anyone. If you are a parent whose kids love Pokémon and sports cards just consider this before taking your children to this place. Over lunch I talked to my boys about the way we communicate with people and how it is not always what you say, but how you say it. His cases may have been wrong, but tell him what is right instead of admonishing him publicly and give him the solution. My sons will be better for this lesson and perhaps the owners can teach their grown male employees the same lesson but we certainly will not be around to see it.

They sell shirts with their logo and my husband buys the latest shirt every time we are in town. I like that they've rearranged the store and moved the register and aisles. The place is really opened up now and more easily accessible. Yum Joy is worth checking out when you are in the area too. They sell candy and ice cream and vintage sodas.

Trade-in's take about a week which they do give you a heads up on but buy lists are a quick turn around, typically same day. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Only knocked one star because you do need to check your buy list to make sure everything is included. I've had several instances where one card is missing and I needed to make a separate trip to pick up the missing cards. Made this mistake twice before I started double checking my orders before leaving. I usually order 10-15 cards per order so I understand things can get missed - just need to double check before leaving.

There were lots of people enjoying card games, which really shows how active and welcoming the community is here. I stopped by hoping to check out Pokémon PSA cards, but they weren't on display in-store and I had to look them up on the website instead. It would be nice to see some of those items showcased in person in the future. That said, the staff was very friendly and helpful, making the visit enjoyable overall. Definitely a cool spot for gamers and collectors alike.
