TLDR: Fantastic toy shop with a huge and carefully curated selection. Wide variety of price points and fun for all ages. A few play areas plus a coffee shop. This toy store is the bee's knees! I thought I was taking my kids to a place for them to have fun but I ended up loving it as well. Aside from constantly running around to put back whatever my 2-year-old pulled off the shelf, I had a great time. Here's why this store rocks: SELECTION/CURATION: Fantastic selection. The store is pretty large and full of so many different things. There are your usual suspects i.e. dolls and dinosaurs but you can also find more unexpected items like a great selection of kites or a big shelf of finger puppets. The items seem very carefully curated. I noticed that a lot of their toys are from established quality brands or from overseas. Bought a little wooden magnetic train that was made in Ukraine. PRICE POINT: There are things at various price points. $100+ and under $1. So don't worry about your kids begging for a toy because there's a huge shelf of small toys (plastic bugs, balls, miniatures, and so much more) that are anywhere from .50 to $10. PLAY AREAS: There are several small play areas for kids including one that's more geared toward babies and toddlers. Aside from that, the whole store is a play area. Just do your best to clean up after them, obviously. BATHROOMS: Great bathroom situation. There are gendered bathrooms plus an all-gender bathroom. Each bathroom has an awesome diaper changing station with... drum roll please... FREE DIAPERS AND WIPES. I've never seen that before. So awesome. ALL AGES FUN: Honestly, this store is fun for all ages. There is a large rack of wacky sunglasses and a section for whimsical hats (obsessed with the Medusa hat). There are more grown-up toys like board games and puzzles (Rubik's cube and much more). There's a cabinet of collectible Matryoshka dolls. There are fun nostalgic items like a Sea-Monkeys kit. So much fun stuff to explore. COFFEE SHOP: There is a coffee shop attached to the store. It's super cute and filled with art from local artists for sale. Always awesome when you can get a coffee to give you an energy boost so you can be better at chasing after your kid. There are also two large chess sets available for use. Ultimately, this place is fantastic. I plan on bringing my family here anytime we need a gift for a birthday party. Amazon gets enough of my money already -- I'd be glad to support this wonderful shop and show my kids an awesome time while we're at it. read more

Saw this toy store on Instagram and it definitely lives up to the hype! Big parking lot with plenty of parking and easy access from the freeway. You are greeted as soon as you walk in and the staff is very friendly. Lots of toys, Halloween stuff, party decorations... definitely a don't miss. read more

Well, I did not have a clue where to find a Dragon Ball Z Action Figure or even knew what it was, so I consulted the hubs and he suggested a toy store. My visit to Terra Toys on Anderson Lane started with my mission: find a Dragon Ball Z Action Figure. What I thought would be a quick shopping trip turned into an adventure through one of Austin's most unique and charming toy stores. Walking into Terra Toys transported me into the wonderful world of imagination. Talk about sensory overload...color explosion, oversized stuffed animals, toys at every turn. Every section of the store was filled with toys of interest...from classic toys and puzzles to collectibles, games, art supplies, and items I had never seen before. Wow, wow, wow! My search for the perfect Dragon Ball Z Action Figure became a treasure hunt. With so many collectibles lurking throughout the store, I found myself scanning shelves, peeking into display cases, and inspecting every area of the store in search of a Dragon Ball Z figurine. Austin kids never fell into the toys r us kid hype- sure Geoffrey the giraffe was cool BUT we had a dragon who guarded endless rooms of toys, books, and crafts to Explore. A lot of my childhood memories don't even really include buying things here- my parents weren't exactly rolling in the dough in the 90's but this place was so magical I never left disappointed. But- here's my adult perspective review. I love coming here for the nostalgia, gifts for everyone in my life, the seasonal items, and for The dopamine hit. I love all of their fidget toys, tiny silly toys like baby doll race cars (as in a car in the shape of a baby), blind box toys and their trading set up, and baby section. This is where you go when your friend is having a baby and already has all of the gear she needs. This is where you get stickers, your Christmas ornaments, a jellycat moon that is larger than you, a family of squirrels, a custom dollhouse family...I could go on and on. read more

Although the pricing here is completely ridiculous ($700 for a stuffed animal?), the selection absolutely makes up for it. There are toys for people of all ages...and I mean all ages. I was even able to pick up some fidgets for myself for prices comparable to Amazon which was cool (I believe the brand was in contract with Terra Toys). The staff was decent and not hovering. The most obnoxious part was navigating the store with all of the kids running around but the store seems very ADA friendly. My nephew seemed to enjoy the store and that's all that matters, even if he wanted a $20 hand puppet that was probably $2 wholesale. I'll keep this place in the back of my mind! I'm very disappointed with Terra Toys employing a manger that would bring her personal political and cultural opinions to the work place much less attacking my daughter for simply inquiring about a price difference in a product. I haven't been toy shopping in many years now that my kids are late teens/early 20's so it's been a while. I had to bring a new toy for the 2024 Yelpies event and Terra Toys came to mind since it's not too far from me and I remember they always had tons of great choices. They did not disappoint! They have a great variety of options to choose from and not surprisingly the price of toys has increased quite a bit since I was last shopping for many of them. The staff were friendly and helpful. What a fun store for any age! Spent my Saturday here wandering the aisles looking at all those toys that I now can afford as an adult child. Noted that more adults were wandering the store than children. Nice impact. I use to be in awe of those dragon figures back in high school. Very cool what they can now display. A flight of fancy for children ages 1-85... what a fun place! Recently stopped by Terra Toys to return a Christmas gift (duplicate), taking a couple of young grandchildren along. This is not like your Toys R Us from days ago. There is something a little more magical and quant about this store. A more intimate shopping feel. I had never been before, this was my first time here. I wasn't shopping for anything special or birthday. Just popping in to see what it was about. It's not isles of toys on shelf's, but like small rooms organized by child age. Since we are middle of September, they did have a little section right as you walk in with Halloween candies and Halloween small items. And just off to the side, some Halloween costumes. Super cute display and done in a child friendly manner. They have some little shopping carts which is super handy as it frees up your hands so you can interact with the toys. I feel like the toys are from old school basic toys. Not the trendy hi tech toys of today. Fold, wooden blocks, feel, touch and motor skill toys. I love that. They do have a small area where kids can actually sit and play with toys. Like this train set on a table at tyke height. So adorable. I was taken back as to some of the items that I saw from my child hood, and I'm telling you, it was trip down memory lane for me. Highly recommend Terra Toys. Even before we had a baby, my parnter and I loved coming to Terra Toys to get gifts for our neices and nephews. Unless you have a 6/7 year old or spend a lot of time around them, it's hard to know what they want. The staff at Terra Toys is ALWAYS helpful with tailored recommendations. Our gifts with our neices and nephews are always a hit! It really reminds you of the advantages of retail. I'd also say prices seem comprabable to what I'd buy online. We first went in for our neices and nephews but often found stuff for ourselves as well! We're big into puzzles and boardgames and they have a nice selection along with, as I mentioned, a helpful staff member that can always steer you towards what you'd like. Not to mention, there's an espresso bar in the story where they also sell backed goods from Zucchini Kill. Now, I should have written a review for them long ago but, when I was in the other day with my daughter, there was a small touch that really made me get on her. In the bathrooms, they not ony have a changing table, but they provide diapers and wipes! I just so happened to have left my diaper bag in the car and these diapers saved me from walking with my baby in the rain to the car! Oftentimes when I see retail places, I feel bad because I know they're going to struggle with the online competition but I have a feeling Terra Toys is here to stay! They have a fun atmosphere, helpful staff, great selection, coffee, and they really go the extra mile! If you have any kids in your life to buy gifts for, I highly recommend you swing by Terra Toys. So much fun! Visiting Austin to see family, it was a delight for me, my adult kids and my granddaughter. I love the chessboard set up on the upper level. I have seen it in this shopping center but never walked inside until I followed my wife inside. From the outside it does not look big but when I entered I was surprised how big it was. They even gave me a free piece of candy as a reward for checking in. I noticed a wide variety of types of toys and well organized. My had a basket full of candy and small toys. The kids here were having fun watching the fish swim in a tank and story time. There seems to be a lot of activities here for them to do. For the adults there is a coffee shop. After a ridiculously expensive shoe purchase at Sandy's next door (the only place in town able to fit my son's double wide Flintstone feet - the subject for another review), I had to reward us both with a few moments of bliss exploring Terra Toys. Terra Toys loves kids, and loves their parents, too. To prove it, they go the extra mile to make a welcoming environment for all ages. Each section of the shop offers a play area for trying out the merchandise. The shopping bags are paper sacks previously decorated by children. The product selection is heavy on European imports with good reputations for safety and durability, as well as featuring hard-to-find collectibles and toys that best encourage imaginative play. The bathroom provides not only a clean & sturdy changing table, but complementary eco-friendly diapers in all sizes (something that I've only seen before at Babies R Us and boutique maternity shops like Special Addition on 38th). The Terra staff members on duty clearly enjoy their work and actually like interacting with children and families. This is a big relief for a stressed out mom whose toddler just sprinted behind the counter and to the other side of the store after screaming his head off for 5 minutes while enduring the indignity of an emergency diaper change in the bathroom at the back of the store. A smile and an encouraging comment like, "Wow! He sure keeps you busy!" is so much more helpful than what might have been said in a less kid-centered shop. At 19 months old, my son especially enjoyed the reading room, which offers a big table with chairs and a sofa just his size. Of course, once he made his way to the vehicles section, he was mesmerized for a while by the elaborate wooden train table. After admiring himself in the large mirror of the fitting room, he tested the ride-on toys and bouncy balls. It was a great way for me to see where his interests are going these days and to plan a gift for his upcoming birthday (or a response when the grandparents and aunts ask, "What can we bring for Big Boy?"). I've given many Terra Toys gift certificates as presents for both adults and children. Universally, the recipients or their parents report back, "That is such a cool store!" Yes, the prices are higher than what you could pay online for some of the same products, but the difference is that at Terra, your dollars are supporting a great local business that employs pleasant local people and provides a wonderful place for people to be a kid again (or for the first time). Kid Genius and Toy Joy (two other Austin-original stores with similar products) are great (I shop those stores, too, whenever I'm in their neighborhoods), but neither can match Terra Toys for the breadth and magnitude of selection, much less the "it's really okay to play in here" vibe. read more
