IF YOU DON'T WANNA GET GROSSED OUT THEN DON'T READ THIS. This yelp is seriously LONG overdue. Like, months ago. Like CHRISTMAS. I'm writing this AFTER my toe nail grew back from the FUNGUS they gave me. Freaking gross right!? This was my go-to place for the longest time, and I would say I was a customer here for a good three months before ish got real. I was a regular for getting a gel mani/pedi and in December, I started noticing this brown/blackish thing towards my cuticle on my left, big, toenail. Okay, so it's a bruise, no biggie right?! I remember going to Upland Nails and getting my toes done, and one of the workers looked at my toe nail and starts saying something in Vietnamese. She gestured to one of the workers there, and they just shrugged and kept filing/painting my toes like nothing was wrong. I thought it was a bruise so I wasn't alarmed. I end up going back home to Hawaii that December and we all know it's slipper weather (or flip-flops for your mainlanders) all year round, so a pedi was a must. I go see a nail salon back at home, and the manicurist looks at my big toe and says, "Sweetay, you have da fungus!" WHAT THE ACTUAL EFF?! So apparently, for fungus to be THAT bad, it needs to grow and fester for the longest time before it starts separating from your nail bed the way mine was. I told her that I was a regular at this salon in Upland, and she was shocked that they didn't mention it to me once. She also went on to explaining how you should NEVER. EVER. get gel on your toe nails. Polish on your toes already lasts for a while, so getting gel on your toes is unnecessary time and money, and puts your toe nails at risk for trapping in the water and growing fungus, which is what she assumed has happened to me. IF YOU DONT WANT FUNGUS, THEN AVOID THIS PLACE. Seriously. Not only did they not tell me that I had fungus, but I just can't even imagine them using the same tools on me on another client. I went to go visit southern CA for a week or so and I went to this nail salon because I was in dire need of a mani/pedi... I didn't have to wait long, and the staff was really sweet. I heard it was under new management, I wasn't sure what it was like before but whatever they're doing now, it's great. My nails were just a plain french manicure, but it was clean, glossy, and lasted a long time. I did them on my natural nails. They definitely take the time and do things right, and I'm glad they do. I came to get a fill and fix couple of broken nails and the lady told me she had to take all my nails off and do a new set. The store has been re-modeled and is under new ownership. The place looks great. They have new Spa chairs, new interior colors, much better service and the girls are friendly and very personal. HORRIBLE customer service. I have never experienced such rude service. I went in for my first time with a cheery and polite attitude. These women obviously don't have manners. My intentions were to get a regular pedicure, not a spa pedicure. I had ripped off a toenail recently, and didn't want germs from the spa to cause a potential infection. I'm a bit of a germaphobe when it comes to that stuff. I preferred a regular pedicure, with plastic over the plug in foot bucket. (simple? no. wrong.) They kept asking me why and insisted I have a regular spa pedicure. I replied "no thank you" but they continued to persist and say "Same price, same price." I had the same reply, then quickly went to use the bathroom before I started my mani pedi. When I returned, they already started my spa. ONCE AGAIN, I said I no. They gave me such attitude and talked furiously amongst eachother. I may not speak your language, ladies, but I have common sense. I can read body language and tone of voice. Let me start this out with I just spent $21 plus an hour and twenty minutes to get get polish on my natural nails. Then let me also include I had 2 different manicurist because I also had to sit through 30 minutes of my first manicurist's kid screaming bloody murder outside. Like someone asked if her kid was ok! Then after she took off to take said kid home the other lady jumped to help...after i had just been sitting there no explanation given for 5 minutes. Well she took over and I know she was trying but my nail shape is obvious from 1 hand to the next it was 2 different shapes almost. Then I realize the color isn't one one I picked and the one lady who speaks English says "oh sorry I should have mentioned its color changing." Now I'm in my 1 and 10 minute mark and just want to get the hell out! So I let them slap on one crappy coat of the actual color and rush out. I went a couple days ago for a manicure and a pedicure. The pedicure was good but the manicure was lacking. I requested a manicure with dip polish. I didn't actually receive a manicure. Instead they started applying the dip products immediately. When I asked why I wasn't getting the manicure she told me that it didn't need it. Mind you I haven't had a manicure in months. With the dip products it's advertised as an alternative to gel, last at least 2 weeks, no UV light needed. That's a lie because they did use a UV light at the end, I went the dip route because I wanted to avoid the uv light. Also, my fingers looked like I soaked them in kool-aid for the day due to the product application. It's been 4 days since I've had my nails done and they started peeling last night. I had to ask 3x to have the massage chair turned on, they just act very put out, I had to ask for a show on the tv, they were playing their Asian station. It's not a welcoming place. Came here for the first time and Trisha did a really good job! I got frenchtip fill and my eyebrows done for $25. She was really nice and comforting. It's clean so that's a plus. If I could give negative 5 stars it would absolutely be accurate. My daughter decided to get a new set done at Upland nails. First off the wait was disgustingly long. Even after she was seated at the booth to get her nails done, they continued to make her wait. Heather apologized for the wait but continued to make her wait for an additional 15 minutes. Secondly, Kevin started to work on her nails. I'm wondering if he even has a cosmetology license. He drilled down her natural nails repeatedly. Even after applying the acrylic powder. He would apply the powder, drill the nails, mess up and repeat the process. He drilled so far into her natural nails she had a burning sensation. It got to the point where he just couldn't do the nails and Heather took over. Heather completed her nails and they ended up charging her $50 for her nails session. It has been 4 days sine she had her set done and they are now lifting. This place is terrible. Either save your time and money or go some where else. ... Update: Steven, you must be under the impression that she didn't speak up. If I wrote down each and every incident she experienced and every conversation she had my review would've been pages worth. My daughter did mention it and your techs explained the burning sensation was normal. After reading multiple reviews, it is clear your salon earned their low star rating. Obviously your tech lack the experience needed to do their job. For one tech to hand off a customer to another after not being able to apply the acrylic is ridiculous. And $50 is not much if the nails last. 4 days is absurd. Maybe you should reevaluate your techs and lack of knowledge. As a long time Upland resident, I will make sure friends, family, associates and acquaintances never visit your establishment. read more

Went there last week with one of my friends for the first time and we were very satisfied with their nail jobs! They were really nice, too! Usually when I go to get my nails done (and there are mostly Asians doing nails) I have to say that it was kinda different. They talked to US and not each other. You know when they sometimes talk to each other in an Asian language you might think they talk about you. Haha at least that's what I think. My sister and I came here to get our nails done for a wedding. It was the only place open early so we decided to give it a try. HORRIBLE!! We asked for two pedicures, a full set for myself and a manicure for my sister. The pedicure was perfect. The lady took her time and was very attentive. The nail technician that did my full set, she sits in the front, was not the best. I asked for a full set and a black French tip. She cut my cuticles a bunch of times. She had them filed crocked and to top it off, the French tip was not straight at all. The polish was bubbly. The woman who did my sisters manicure was rude when my sister asked her if she can clean the sides of her fingers with nail polish remover. Her polish wasn't very good. It's sad to think that people don't take their work with more pride. We are the ones who display it to the world. I've told all of my coworkers and friends to never go to this place. First, I would like to say that I've been there two times, and both times were questionable. The first time, I called ahead and scheduled appointments for myself, my wedding party and my parents. I had never been there, and had no idea how small it was. But, since they said they could handle all the people, I assumed they had the room and the staff. I got there and there were three spa chairs only. They started with my parents and a couple of my bridesmaids. They made me wait. While I was waiting, someone walked in who did not have an appointment. They took her and made me wait some more. They were almost done with everyone else when they finally got me started. Although I waited almost 2 hours to get my nails done, they turned out beautifully. Two years later when I was looking to get my nails done, I thought I would try this place again. It was new year's eve and the place was almost empty so I thought it would be quick. They told me they were waiting for one of their employees to come in, but she was on her way, so I could start soaking my feet. Then, the same girl who told me this, who is not a licensed manicurist, but just "helping out" starts doing my feet. She finishes trimming, and filing and all that and the person is still not there. So the other lady finishes up with her client, and comes over and redoes everything that they just did. The lady finally shows up and starts on my nails. First she cut off all my nails. All I asked for was them to be filed and evened out because they were very long. Then she files the sides of the nails until it hurt. I kept pulling my hand away and telling her that it hurt, and she kept doing it. When it came to the nail polish, the colors kept smearing and she said it looked nice. There was cotton stuck in the polish too. Finally I told her to take the polish off and just put clear polish on them. When I got home, I took a closer look at my toes. I had asked for a french manicure with a black line instead of a silver one. The black lines were uneven and some were smeared into the white part. It looked terrible. I took the polish off the next day. I was there for a long time and ended up with the ugliest manicure I've ever gotten. Also, their tools come out of a box that says clean, but not a sterile package. I should have walked out when I saw that, because I don't know that they have been put through an autoclave before being put in the clean box. read more

Let me start off by saying that I've been coming here for about 2 years now and I've never had any issues until the past 3 months. These ladies used to be amazing and used to take their time and would talk to you etc. Now they rush through pedicures and manicures and don't provide any customer service. The reason why I am writing this review is because I just went there for a fill on my nails they just put on like 3 weeks ago. I went to the skinny lady with the short hair. (Sorry I don't remember her name) I noticed that while she was putting the powder on my fingers started burning. The lady said it would stop after she was done. And she just continued on. (She even tried to use a drill head from her soiled Altoids container until I told her no! It should be fresh.) I've never had that happen before so I just thought I would take her word for it. Wrong move! I should have just left there! She continued to file and my fingers started burning more and more. And when I would tell her to stop and come back to the burning fingers she just would continue on even though that sh!t was hurting! Eventually I just bit my lips and powered through it. Then when she was putting the clear coat on I noticed that there were a lot of bubbles and I asked her about it and she said it was just my nails. If it was my nails it would have had bubbles when they put them on a couple weeks ago. It was just her trying to hurry so she could take another customer. Needless to stay my nails look like crap. They have bubbles all over and she didn't even grind down the parts of the old nail before putting the powder on. I won't be returning anymore!! read more
