I always do a walk-in and 90% of the time get seated right away and given the book of gel colors to choose from. This place is great for gel pedicures. Reasonable pricing, good cleaning, and quick for the most part. As far as manicures go, I would only recommend single color/no design polish. I have not been wowed by their design skills but appreciate the effort by the younger gentleman there on the weekends. He does his best to get that French tip curve, so I can't be too hard. I went into Upland Nails located at 103 S Mountain Avenue for a full set and returned three weeks later to have them removed by the same lady. The lady literally cut and ripped my nails off!!! As it was hurting I had requested to soak them in acetone to help make them easier to remove but the lady said it would take too long! She insisted on jamming a flat head tool to lift the acrylic while she shoved her nail cutter and cut away. She literally cut into my real nail and ripped it off! I started bleeding and she poured acetone on it and insisted she continue with the other nails. Again, she jammed and cut away, cutting into another nail! I left and will never go back again! My nails hurt so bad!! Update: I had to go to the doctors and was prescribed antibiotics to prevent an infection. My nails can take up to two-three months to heal! Super friendly staff. Everyone treated me kindly for my first visit here. Helen helped me choose a color that would go well with my skin tone. I wanted a pattern but I wasnt sure what, and she winged it on the spot. Super beautiful results and it has lasted me over a week now. I haven't ever done my nails before so I am very pleased to see there was no chips or anything like the previous reviews mentioned. It was a little bit busy but they were able to get me in after the rush. I already booked an appointment and am coming back in a few weeks with my girlfriends to get some pedicures. When I don't have ideas for my nails she always has something in mind and comes up with beautiful amazing creations. For my pedicure my favorite person is Amy. Amy is the sweetest and does an awesome job. She really does an amazing job with my toes and gives an amazing massage. I went in with a friend for mani/pedis and we couldn't sit next to each other because they didn't want to prep the chair (only one was prepped when we walked in). The pedicure was decent but they aren't very neat. Sloppy paint job with nail polish left on the skin. The manicurist was rude and did not listen to what I wanted, I was polite and clear to what I wanted done...she cut my nails too short and some are round and others are square, and crooked no less. I didn't want to use the UV light to dry my nails, so they gave me a fan, then a lady came by to check if they were dry and smudged the polish! WTH. I do NOT recommend this nail salon. I didn't have such a good experience. This place seemed very cheap and lazy in many ways. I was charged to remove my powder gel which should be part of the service. They had me soak my hands on my lap and when they were doing my pedicure, acetone and hit water spilled all over me. I got the powder gel but the lady was still going to put my hands under the UV light. I don't think they are using the correct products for the dip powder gel. While it was cheap, you get what you pay for. You can see in just one hand, I still had my old gel everywhere. IF YOU DON'T WANNA GET GROSSED OUT THEN DON'T READ THIS. This yelp is seriously LONG overdue. Like, months ago. Like CHRISTMAS. I'm writing this AFTER my toe nail grew back from the FUNGUS they gave me. Freaking gross right!? This was my go-to place for the longest time, and I would say I was a customer here for a good three months before ish got real. I was a regular for getting a gel mani/pedi and in December, I started noticing this brown/blackish thing towards my cuticle on my left, big, toenail. Okay, so it's a bruise, no biggie right?! I remember going to Upland Nails and getting my toes done, and one of the workers looked at my toe nail and starts saying something in Vietnamese. She gestured to one of the workers there, and they just shrugged and kept filing/painting my toes like nothing was wrong. I thought it was a bruise so I wasn't alarmed. I end up going back home to Hawaii that December and we all know it's slipper weather (or flip-flops for your mainlanders) all year round, so a pedi was a must. I go see a nail salon back at home, and the manicurist looks at my big toe and says, "Sweetay, you have da fungus!" WHAT THE ACTUAL EFF?! So apparently, for fungus to be THAT bad, it needs to grow and fester for the longest time before it starts separating from your nail bed the way mine was. I told her that I was a regular at this salon in Upland, and she was shocked that they didn't mention it to me once. She also went on to explaining how you should NEVER. EVER. get gel on your toe nails. Polish on your toes already lasts for a while, so getting gel on your toes is unnecessary time and money, and puts your toe nails at risk for trapping in the water and growing fungus, which is what she assumed has happened to me. IF YOU DONT WANT FUNGUS, THEN AVOID THIS PLACE. Seriously. Not only did they not tell me that I had fungus, but I just can't even imagine them using the same tools on me on another client.
