He was very knowledgable about the HVAC systems used for the homes in my neighborhood. He was able to quickly confirm the issue, diagnose the problem, and find a solution. He then performed a series of tests to confirm the issue had been solved. During each step of the process he explained what was happening in a way that was easy to understand. Disappointed after reading the reviews. These guys are in the same town. I figured I'd give them a try for installing an adding a mini split addition to supplement hot/cold spots in my kitchen. Not only did they not listen to my needs, the whole time they offered solutions that cater to what they want instead of what I want. 1. They recommend dual zoning which cost about the same amount as installing a new mini split. I have a single state HVAC which isn't recommended for dual zone install. 2. They keep pushing for fixing/upgrading central instead of installing mini splits. 3. They keep asking for my budget (red flag), talking up high end units (red flag), talking down low end units (red flag). Look, we all know Mitsubishi and Daikin are the top of the line. However, the cost of DOUBLE of the price of lower end models isn't due to just superior quality and technology. Heat pumps and mini splits are not new technology. One isn't vastly superior to another. Yes, it may be better, but not double the price better. The cost are always due to the commissions and kickbacks for these installers. That's marketing and salesmanship, but please be more transparent next time. Finally, I asked for quotes and options so I can decide. The person walked away disappointed and I suspect they think they lost a sale because of the way I did not want the highest end models and stayed firm with my mini split request. I sensed the guy walked away disappointed. Yet I still expected a courtesy quote like the other installers. They never sent it. I was not surprised. In the end, I decided that a whole system upgrade to mini-splits (30% more efficient just from being ductless alone) with rebates made more sense instead of add ons to existing system. But these guys did help me cross them off the list and went with the installer who actually listened to my needs and gave the recommendation and options that I wanted. I do not recommend these guys. They will push for the highest cost system and will ghost you if you appear to be knowledgeable enough to call them out on it. read more

Our old HVAC system was over 20 years old, so it was definitely time for a replacement. I had already gathered multiple bids and knew exactly which unit I wanted by the time I contacted Upgrade Home Services. Victor responded quickly through Yelp and followed up with a confident bid via email after I sent him photos of my air handler and condenser. I was impressed by how prompt and competitive his pricing was, especially without needing an onsite visit. I was skeptical so I did end up scheduling an in person visit just to make sure the price was still valid. Sure enough, Victor confirmed the job was straightforward, and his original quote stood firm. No hidden costs, no surprises, just exactly what he promised. I was super impressed and the price he gave me was fair & competitive compared to some of the other quotes I got. Ironically, our AC gave out right as we were shopping for bids, so the timing couldn't have been better. We signed the estimate with UHS and had to wait for them to complete their onboarding as an approved vendor for the SJ EcoHome Payment Plan program. Fortunately, they were already in the final stages, so all we needed was Victor's green light to move forward with the application. UHS came and tackled our HVAC replacement job in one day. We also tacked on duct cleaning and installed an ozone free air scrubber. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Working with UHS gave us peace of mind, knowing they're fully licensed and highly recommended on Yelp & Google, and that we could maximize all the San Jose heat pump incentives. Gina at the office was also super great to work with, super responsive and quick to pick up the phone. Every person we interacted with at UHS had a professional, friendly demeanor, and unlike some other vendors, there was never a pushy sales pitch or that uncomfortable feeling of someone overstaying and talking my ear off trying to sell me their service during the estimate visit. What a well-run, no-nonsense business. We met Victor for an estimate. Victor was quick to offer the best economical AC options for our rental home while factoring in future electric laws. Not only was Victor thoughtful in all of his recommendations, he even included a few extras for us (removing and recycling an old satellite dish on the roof and flushing our water heater for maintenance). We selected a dual fuel Payne heat pump system and they were able to schedule installation within a few days. After the onsite estimate, the next business day a HERS test was scheduled and the city permit was pulled. Install day was a very hot day. The crew worked confidently and cleaned up after themselves. It was only 2 weeks from the time we phoned Upgrade Home Services for an estimate to completion of project which included HERS test and City Permit sign off. They even online registered the unit for the 10 year manufacturer warranty. What a relief to have this daunting home improvement project completed. Their prices are reasonable and their work comes with a seven year labor warranty. The ease of doing business with this company was exemplary. The first time around we were asked to reschedule since their machines were inaccessible and stuck elsewhere. The rescheduled date comes around and they show up with only one of the machines, claiming I asked for an entirely different service (heater maintenance). We met Victor when he responded (on a Sunday) to our furnace issue during the Thanksgiving weekend. He got our furnace back on that day. We greatly appreciated his responsiveness and expertise to restore our furnace operation on that cold weekend. Our confidence in Upgrade Home Services (UHS)led to our contracting them to replace our old HVAC system with a new Amana heat pump system. UHS replaced our gas furnace and AC unit on time and on schedule. Unfortunately, we had to call Victor the next day to repair a wiring issue that temporarily halted our system's operation. The good news is that Victor quickly responded to our call that day and repaired the wiring issue. Overall, we rate UHS five stars for Victor's responsiveness and expertise. The only unfavorable comment I have on UHS is their team of installation technicians are not very responsive to any questions during any phase (demo, prep, installation and test) of the installation project. Whenever I hire a contractor to work on my house, I make it a habit to understand what the contractor plans to do before they do it, so that there are no surprises and that I'm okay with any their modifications to my home. However, if you are the type of homeowner that's hand off and is comfortable to let the contractor work on your home without questions or desire to observe; this is probably not an issue for you. But if you are like me, and wants to know the details of what the contractor's plans for your home project; or may want them to answer questions prior to a major installation phase, you may want to address this with Victor prior to contracting them for any home projects. read more

We just moved into a new property and found out that the HVAC air ducts were badly damaged and broken apart. We had three quotes for the duct work replacement.
