‍Reactive dog owner here! I'd like to start off by saying I have never had a bad experience at any of the Unleashed locations! The staff at each store are absolutely phenomenal. I frequent this store for their dog bathing station. General Unleashed info: I always call ahead to reserve a spot for a bath- you must do this to ensure they have time for you. Baths are reserved for an hour. They usually fill up quickly for a weekend spot but I've never had any issues with same day reservations so long as you are flexible. I also really appreciate that the staff has always been super considerate and understanding when I specify that my dog is reactive to both other dogs and some people. I usually let them know while he looks super approachable because he's so fluffy and cute () he's kind of a butthead with strangers (). They always respond with kindness and politely give him plenty of space when we come in- and also let us know if there are other dogs in the store when we come in! I cannot tell you how much reassurance this gives us as owners to a reactive dog- we appreciate this courtesy so much! Protip: buy the frequent bather card! $60 for 4 baths and your 5th is free! They link this to your phone number so you don't have to worry about losing the card and it is good for use at any of their locations! Cary specific: The bathing area is in the back of the store where they stock bigger items. There is a baby gate and curtain you can use for some privacy but as my dog is reactive and as the location of the bath is open to the public I do wish there was a door just for peace of mind. We have had instances where other curious customers try to peek in the bathing area which has caused my pup to freak out a bit. The room is a little tight but you can make do with two adults plus your pup. I would say the bathing station is a good size for dogs up to the 60-ish lb range. 70 and up might be a tight squeeze. The always are stocked with plenty of soap/conditioner/ear cleaning/grooming tools! TL;DR $15 self bathing station, well worth the price for not having to clean up/well stocked bathing area and very accommodating staff. read more

This has been our one and only pet store! We love that they have more variety than the typical other pet stores- you can find things here that you can't find elsewhere, especially special foods for certain dietary needs. I was looking for the store that used to be here. I was both disappointed and relieved to find in its place this fun business: Unleashed -- A name with a great play on words. Although Unleashed, a locally owned specialty store, recently opened, it's well-stocked with food and toys and treats for your dog (or cat) and with all accoutrement for the well-groomed and stylish animal. I chatted with the manager for a few moments, noting the store seems to target dogs. There's a small section in the front with a few cat items, but with more on the way, I was assured. She appropriately noted cat toys/treats take up less space and some of the food and treats are good for both dogs and cats. I haven't been to the other Unleashed stores in the area, so I don't know if this setup is the same. There's an big selection of food, and all are made in the US of quality ingredients from well-known natural-ingredient brands. Unleashed has dried, dehydrated, and refrigerated foods, all reasonably priced and ready to go. There were some brands with which I wasn't familiar, but thankfully, there were none of the brands found in a local grocery store. Unleashed is a nice addition to the area and, with its location near Harris Teeter and across the street from Waverly Place, will be a easy stop to get a treat for your dog or cat companion. read more

Welcoming employees, clean and organized store, and fantastic self serve dog wash. They also have amazing events like the Spring Fling Dog Easter Egg Hunt and Halloween Party. The employees are knowledgeable and will recommend toys to best fit your pet's preferences. If you have a big dog that likes to tear apart every toy you buy them I would definitely recommend their figure 8 toy (shown in the attached picture). It is very strong and has lasted through numerous tug-of-war games. I will continue to purchase toys and treats from this establishment! read more

Review of Unleashed Pet Store, the associates and their recommended dog food, Acana, for dogs with stomachs causing extremely need breath. Review: I was in the shopping center running errands and happened to see Unleashed, a pet store. Sure, I had seen this store before, but had paid it no attention. It look like an upscale, expensive pet store & I tend to go to the larger pet stores like PetSmart or Petco. I will say this....have I been missing out! I was late to the Unleashed party! You see, my dog has horrible doggy halitosis. I asked my vet about it multiple times but none of the solutions she suggested worked very well, including sedated dental cleanings. I hate to put my baby thru that process over and over, so I wanted to find other solutions. If searched online, asked people what they used and all. So by chance one day, I walked into Unleashed, of Cary, and was immediately pleasantly greeted by one of their sales associates. I asked him "do you guys sell anything that can help chronic dog breath for a dog with a very sensitive stomach?" He said "sure ...I doubt it's your dog's teeth causing the issues because of what you're telling me with the very cleanings and what not. Since your feeding her ACME XYZ, which is a decent food, but you can do something better. I tend to think it may be your dog's diet causing the laptops issue." At his point he started to walk me all over the store (I'm disabled but young) and he was pointing out several different dog foods that he thought would stabilize her stomach and then in turn make her breath better then it was currently. He's tell me the difference between each formulation and have his suggestions. Now I won't lie to you, the dog food here suggested was more expensive than her current brand. When I mentioned that to the sales associate, he laughed and said yes I can imagine bc a lot of people say that same thing, But what he did next, really made me want to support the business, if the products worked out like he said they would. I watched him grab a paper grocery bag, and proceeded to go from shelf to shelf, behind the counter, filling the paper bag with SEVERAL large sample bags of all of the dog foods that he showed me and then he threw in some doggie treats as a bonus cherry on top. Now, these samples are not small samples for one meal. We are talking about sample bags hat are probably a week's worth of food for my pet. And he gave me at least six or seven dog food samples of different types and a few different samples of doggie treats. I am so pleased to say that, thanks to him, I have my dog on a new diet with a food he suggested by the name of Acana, and she loves it. She's a picky ester with a sensitive stomach so I didn't know if it would work for her. But she adjusted so well to it that she can't wait for next times now. Plus, she's more fit AND her doggy breath is a thing of the past, virtually nonexistent. I only wish I could remember his name so I could put it in this review and call his manager at the store so that he gets his proper recognition for a job well done. If you remember me young man, know that my family and I truly thank you and Unleashed for helping me figure out a problem that I couldn't even be figured out by my licensed veterinarian. That speaks volumes about your knowledge of pets! Folks, sometimes it takes making a stop at a place you never considered going in to just find that answer that you were looking for. Be open minded and give Unleashed a shot at making you and your it healthier and happier! You won't regret it and your pets will thank you for it with as many licks as you can take!! We were super excited to stop in here because we recognized the name. We have went to the Southport location as well as the Crabtree location and those stores are great... when we walked in the two ladies working didn't even look at us. Paid no attention to us whatsoever and we're both gossiping and one was sitting on the floor behind the counter. First of all, I should point out that this store is mainly for dogs and cats. So if you're looking for items for other pets, you'll need to look elsewhere. Having recently adopted a new puppy, we found ourselves in need of some supplies we got rid of years ago. The hubby and I have been hitting up several of the pet stores around us and we're happy to find that there are a bunch of pet specialty stores. Unleashed is a great store with lots of items for your furbaby. What I was most impressed with was their supply of quality dog foods. They also carry a lot of the raw dog foods as well that are kept in fridges. Furthermore, knowing that some pets can be a bit more finicky, they have a bunch of samples behind the counter for you to take home and see if your pet will like it before buying a huge bag. All you have to do is ask. Everyone was super friendly and you can tell they really love animals. We actually came when it was Benny's birthday (Benny's been with them since they opened the store) so my older dog was able to snag a slice of doggy cake as well. He seemed to really enjoy it, so maybe we'll surprise him with his own cake for his birthday. read more

I love my cat, and since I live almost right across the street from this place, I decided to give it a try. The cat section is comparatively smaller than the dog section, but there were toys, ostrich feathers, braided baskets (which my cat loves) and natural cat food and treats without grains. (The have some deal where if you buy a certain number of bags of pet food, you get the nth one free.) On my way out, was given an assortment of sample food.treat goodies - very high quality and great service. I'll be certain to return here for cat food and anything else. read more

We used the self dog wash today and it was awesome! We walked in about 15 minutes after opening and learned how it worked. We were informed they had an appointment at 12, but were welcomed to use it before that time if we could finish. They had a large basin for washing, a choice of shampoo, conditioner and hypoallergenic and oatmeal selections. Several brushes and other cleaners for ears and eyes. Also had towels and a blow dryer, perfect for our doodle. They also had treats for your pup during the process. Best $15 I've spent in a while. The process is a breeze compared to the hassle and mess at home. We will be back! read more

The privately owned Unleashed stores are, without a doubt, the best place to go for all your pet supply needs. The staff is knowledgeable and their prices are great. They stand by all their products 100 percent and they can do this because they don't take the manufacturer at face value, choosing instead to do their own research. In many cases going on site to see exactly how the food is made and to check the sources. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. Me and my furry friend couldn't be happier. It makes me feel good to know that what he eats is healthy, that I know where it comes from and exactly what is in it. It makes him happy simply because it's delicious. I came in looking for ideas to get my cat to eat. He has fatty liver disease and I've been syringe feeding him for three weeks so I'm desperate. The service was outstanding, and I bought several varieties of food and even raw goats milk. I was also given a large assortment of free samples and a discount on the frozen raw chicken food. I'm a big fan of Unleashed. I originally discovered the store while I was living in Wilmington and was thrilled when I moved to the triangle where there are several locations. They're a pet-friendly store, so go ahead and bring your friendly pooch. They have a large selection of natural and grain-free items for both dogs and cats. The staff have all been friendly and knowledgeable. Be sure to check out the store's self-serve dog wash! They have a room stocked with all the items you'd need to give your pup a bath and a large professional tub. They also supply towels, a dryer, brushes and pet perfume. BONUS they do all the clean up! I also love that Unleashed holds various pet friendly events at their stores throughout the year and several times a month have rescue groups come in to hold adaptation events or fundraisers. Definitely racially profiled today while shopping. Out of all the Unleashed stores I've visited in the area, I frequent this location the most. What seemed to be a new employee, as I've never seen her there before, was overly "friendly and helpful" as I looked around the store, asking several times if I needed help after I'd already told her I was just looking around. While browsing the store, holding treats from the stand in my hand, she walks up to me with a bag, telling me she can hold my things behind the counter until I was ready to checkout... Ummm... what? No. Why not just offer me a bag, or tell me where to find them like other employees have done in the past? Furthermore, if I'm still shopping, wouldn't that mean I need the bag to continue putting items in, rather than decreasing your chances of selling more merchandise because you put my bag behind the counter? In addition, none of the other customers of "lighter skin complexions" were asked to have their things held at the counter until they were ready to checkout. Not only that, when I went to the counter to checkout, she came up to the register and stood beside the cashier as I had my items rang up... for what reason? To ensure I placed all the items in the bag that she saw me with earlier? Again, I noticed that she did not stand at the register for any other customers as they checked out: only when I got to the front of the line. I'm truly disgusted. This pet store was my last hope in finding something that my picky dog would eat. Having had a Lab for 15 years, I always assumed that all dogs inhaled their food with great passion. I was wrong! We later got a miniature Aussie puppy and turns out she was SUPER picky about food. She would refuse to eat, even when starving! (I could hear her tummy growl when her food bowl was full and sitting a foot away from her!). Over her first year, I think we slowly went through 6-7 different dog food brands, in increasing price. After a long conversation with a friend who discovered Orijens and Akana dog food for her own picky dogs, she mentioned how great Unleashed was and that they carried these food brands, so I went there for a last attempt to try one of these brands in the hopes that it might be something she would enjoy eating. We hit pay dirt!! It turns out that Akana's Freshwater fish formula was the one that she liked. And how awesome that Unleashed has a program where for every 12 bags of dog food you buy, the 13th is free! Love the store, the staff are great, very knowledgeable and they carry excellent quality products. Can't say enough good things about this place.
