I picked my baby up yesterday after being there for 4 days. I noticed his leg right away asked them what happened to his legs. Acting shocked and tell me that he must of rubbed against the rug ?????. I have rug/carpet through my whole house. Then the chick at the desk started catching attitude when I was questioning about my baby legs and the price. When I dropped him off I was told $232 but when I picked him up it was $250. He got home and peed for ever like he didn't go pee that day. I was told he eats 3x a day. I gave them 15 cans of dog food. Why I still had 7 cans left. That means you wasn't feed him 3x a day now I'm going to the Vet this morning to see what's wrong with his legs and what they did to my baby. I will be contacting corporate this is unacceptable. I'm in this store as much as I grocery shop. Unfortunately time after time I'm blown away of the POOR service in the Pet Grooming. I have given them multiple chances to improve. Today was it for me. While having booked a grooming service and told 2 hours, I get a call after 1.5 hours saying they just started and can't finish. That my dog's nail bed is bleeding and now she's at the vet there. I rush over and then was told that she's not bleeding and has inflammation around her nails. They asked if they can treat it. How about NO. You first lied to me about her bleeding then expect me to believe something is wrong with her to bill me for treating her. I will take her to her vet. What morons. The Vet Dr there was useless. This is a very terrible experience. My cat's urine smelled all over, so I took my cat to take a bath. I told them that the cat urine smelled very bad and needed to be cleaned. When I went to pick up the cat two hours later, I found that the cat had not dried of its hair. It was shivering in the cat's bag, and there was still a very heavy smell of urine on its body. The clerk explained to me that it was because their toiletries could not wash away the smell of urine. I suggest that I wash it again next time. I will never go there again. Easiest purchase ever! Our beagle needed her first doggy life vest and we shopped online saw what was available at Petsmart in our neighborhood and arrived with dog on leash. Thankfully we could try them on her and discovered she is not a small; she has the girth of a medium dog. We would have never known this shopping online. Howard the store clerk greeted us at the door asked what kind of help we needed, walked us to the lifejackets, waited patiently while we tried them on and then actually walked us to a register that he opened just for us to make the purchase. PLEASE READ BEFORE SCHEDULING A GROOMING SERVICE IN THIS LOCATION. Bad grooming experience in this location. We scheduled a full bath and hair cut service online. And dropped him on time. So far, everything seems to be good. We talked with the groomer how we want to trim him. And we also paid $15 for brush and demat service. This is what we told the groomer and she agrees, "Take half of the hair off on body, leave the hair on ear as it is and a little short on his feet." Sounds normal and clear instructions, right? But when we went and picked him up, we couldn't even recognize that is him. They didn't trim him as what we discussed. THEY SHAVED ALL HIS HAIR OFF!! They didn't even follow a single thing we agreed on. And they didn't give us a call to talk about the change. And no words to explain why they shaved all his hair when we picked him up. Just asked us to go and pay the bills. We feel like they just want to do their job quickly and complete the service in the easiest way. And they didn't actually care how they treat him and the quality of the service. And he was also so scared and screaming when he saw us. The groomer told me he doesn't like to groom, so I can't imagine how they forced him to complete the grooming. And after came back home, he stays in his crate and doesn't want to come out. I came into buy feeder fish for my Cichlid and when the store clerk asked why I was getting fish I told her they were a treat for my Cichlid and she refused to sell me the feeder minnow's because she said it was cruel. i tried to explain that cichlids eat other fish and she told me I was a horrible person for feeding my fish.... Ahh, Petsmart! I'm in here about as often as I'm in Harris Teeter which sort of makes sense. I'm pretty sure my bengal cat is part pig, he definitely enjoys his food... Must take after dad! While I'd love to shop at a non-chain pet store, Petsmart does a good job in terms of food, toys and other accessories. They've got a nice assortment of fish, lizards, birds and often have pet adoption days onsite. There's also a Banfield's Veterinarian area where you can pick up pet meds. The employees are all pretty nice and definitely animal people. Love checking out the dogs over at the boarding area, it's fun to watch them mess around with each other as they adjust to their temporary "pack"! The only downside I've seen at Petsmart is their policy for allowing pets into the store. While it's fun to play with someone else's dog at the checkout register, I'm not much one for trying to dance around piddly puddles or poopy piles! Seriously, and I don't blame the animals, just the owners! I once saw an old dude walking his bulldog around, let the dog take a dump in the main aisleway and then just walked off as if nothing happened. Totally disgusting and nasty! I'd hate to see that guy's home... But other than errant and lazy customers, Petsmart will keep your pet happy and entertained for a reasonable price. Took my 3 dogs there while went to the Bahamas for 5 days. We where quoted $80 a night for the room no matter the dog number. When re teurned to pick up our dogs the the bill had gone from an estimated $550 to the outreagour price of of almost $1500 FOR THE 5 DAYS! Not only that but all of our dogs where returned to us sick with kennel cough even though they had been vacinated for it. Here it is almost 5 weeks later and multiple trips to the vet for all of them and the sickness they caught there will not go away. they are sneezzing ,coughing , and hacking constantly. Do not take your animals there as they will lie about what you will be charged and they will most lickley come home sick. Horrible experience, Boyfriend and I recently adopted a puppy we needed to pick up a few supplies before heading home. We headed in with our little fur baby and started looking around. We were in there for roughly 15 minutes and were approached over 5 times asking if we needed help, each time we politely said no thank you. On top of that we were approached 2 different times asking if we wanted to purchase a puppy guide for $20 and were told it basically paid for itself because of the coupons, once again no thank you. I am not a huge fan of PetSmart but we visited since it was on the way home to pick up a bag of food and a toy. I take my cavachon, Millie here every 2/3 months for a hair cut! The staff has always been friendly and offers suggestions on the cut and shampoo. Setting appointments is asways a breeze. I came on here to leave a review about the most amazing place to leave your pets. I have read some of the reviews below and i can guarantee you those people were NOT at the walnut street location. I have multiple dogs that come almost every day and they are taken care of beyond the call of duty. One of my dogs had to be put to sleep from cancer and the amazing staff made her any ice cream sundae with all kinds of special doggie treats. Another one of my dogs recently had an allergic reaction to a treat we left for her during her stay and they didn't think twice to personally transport her to the emergency hospital after calling me while I was out of town. I have been at the hotel daily and watched the staff through the glass physically take each dog out for walks. So what was started below was absolutely untrue!!! I highly recommend this place. I have a 9 month old golden retriever who I take to Banfield at this location and have also attended 12 puppy training classes with Camye, who is wonderful. My pup was overdue for a grooming, as he'd never been groomed before, so I decided to take him into this location last Thursday for an appointment. I don't remember the gentleman's name who groomed my dog, but he was very nice and easy to work with. He was awesome from the time I called to book the appointment, to dropping my dog off, to calling me to let me know how my dog did for his first time being groomed, and that he was ready to be picked up. I was told by this gentleman that my dog behaved about as expected for a first timer... He did not like being blown dry after his bath and got too excited being groomed on the table when other dogs would walk by. That was all he told me over the phone. Upon picking my dog up, a girl brought him out to me and asked me if my dog had ever had any training. I told her yes, asked her why she asked me that, and she told me she recommends additional training for my dog. I asked what specifically he did that was so alarming, and she said pretty much everything from pulling, to jumping, and then stated that he's the alpha. She goes on to tell me she has a pit bull who had similar tendencies and would recommend going to see Camye, because that's what she did and it helped a ton. I then told her I've already done 12 training sessions with Camye, thanked her for advice and abruptly left after that. While I appreciate feedback on what someone else thinks of my dog while he was being groomed for his FIRST time ever, one might think they'd care more about my feedback on how they did grooming my dog that I paid for them to do... and perhaps care more about getting business from me again next time my dog needs a grooming. I don't doubt that my dog was difficult to work with at times... he's 9 months old, 75 pounds, and had never been groomed before. I live alone, work from home, and am the sole caretaker for my dog. He only knows me to be his alpha. This was his first time in an unfamiliar and uncomfortable setting when I was not present, so of course he's not going to behave the same for strangers as he does for me at home. I felt the need to write a review because the way this girl approached me really rubbed me the wrong way. I'm no expert when it comes to dog training and I'm sure my dog does need more training... But like I said before, she did not even care to ask me if I was pleased with the groomers performance or if I was happy with how my dog looked. She took the opportunity to lecture me on dog training that I've already gotten 12 times from the exact same trainer she recommended. I will have to think if I'll give these groomers another try or not. Perhaps there is somewhere else where the employees have more patience for excited large-breed puppies who are still getting familiar and comfortable with the grooming experience. read more

If you are looking to board your pet, I would highly recommend you go elsewhere. It's taken my almost 10 days to calm down enough to write a coherent recap of my first (and only) experience with the Pets Hotel at the Cary, North Carolina PetSmart. I boarded my chihuahua, Niko, at this location from May 24-27. On Monday (the 27th) when I picked him up, they told me he went on a pee/poop strike for the first two days. This is completely normal for my dog. I was also told that he was shy the first day, but warmed up the second. Also normal for my dog. He seemed just a I left him, and ready to go home. Having just driven 3.5 hours with holiday traffic, I was ready as well. At home, he fell into a deep sleep for the whole evening. Tuesday morning, I took him out to use the bathroom. I wiped his paws and realized he was missing an ENTIRE nail from his back left paw. Not just a broken nail--the entire nail is gone. No one from the store called, and I wasn't informed when I picked him up. There would have been A LOT of blood, pain, limping, etc. and no one said a word. When I called the location, the employee I spoke to "checked his service card", and when I explained the issue, repeated "he didn't understand the problem" and basically said he didn't understand why I was calling if my dog wasn't limping or hurt. THEN, he revealed that at one point employees put the t-shirt I'd left with my dog OVER HIS HEAD to pull him out of the kennel so they wouldn't get bitten. I think it's ABSOLUTELY UNCALLED FOR and RIDICULOUS that: 1. This happened. 2. They're hiring people who are supposed to be knowledgeable about animal behavior and personality. There were several ways this situation could have been handled, including using wet food or even calling me or the alternative contact. Instead, these employees chose to strong-arm a 7lb. chihuahua, and also somehow send him home with a missing nail, AND provide shitty customer service. Wow. The employee then stated he would talk to Banfield (my pet's vet) and explain the situation and suggested Pets Hotel MIGHT cover the costs of a visit (I have a wellness plan so that wasn't the issue). I immediately called the vet and scheduled the earliest appointment I could: a drop-off appointment two days later. I wanted to make sure the area wasn't infected and would heal. I kept an eye on him for the next two days and had to continually stop him from licking at and worrying the toe with the missing nail. When it finally came time to take him in, unfortunately, the Banfield is right across from the store from the Pets Hotel and my pet endured A LOT of stress when he realized where we were going. I had to drop him off and had to cancel hours from my job that afternoon so I could come pick him up as soon as they were ready. The vet called and told me his toe would heal and the nail would grow back, but to watch it everyday. I was also told to buy an E-collar, which I did. Thankfully, almost 10 days later, though Niko still doesn't have a nail, his toe is fine though he continues to try and mess with it. Every time I imagine the pain my pet went through and the flippancy with which my concerns were handled, I get upset and feel like I let Niko down by leaving him at Pets Hotel. I don't want any other pets to be mistreated or have anyone else feel the same. read more

Terrible experience with Petsmart Hotel. I am either told different things about services offered or not told about services but billed for them. 1st Issue- They fed my dogs dry food after I instructed them not to do so and my dogs had severe gastritis, vomiting and diarrhea. I had to take them to the Vet for antibiotics and antidiarrheal medication. 2nd issue- My two Shi Tzus have skin allergies, paid for a bath and I asked if I can use their Oatmeal shampoo? I was told that I could. After bringing the shampoo, another worker tells me that they allowed it this time but they were not supposed to. I made an appointment just a few days ago and the representative asked....I notice that you usually add on a bath, would you like to add on a bath? I replied that I would like to but I was told that I can't use their shampoo, they have a skin allergy. She replied, Oh, do you use Oatmeal shampoo? I replied "Yes.," She stated that I can use my shampoo. I told her, oh ok....someone stated that I wasn't allowed. She reassured me that it was fine. She asked if I wanted nail trimming. I declined. I picked up my dogs, one of my dogs was soaking wet and I was charged for nail trimming for both dogs and did not receive my discount for the second dog. I called to speak to Jordan about my bill and she was very rude. She told me to qualify for extended stay hours, they have to charge for nail trimming. I told her that was not explained to me. She said that's not true, it's in the notes, so you knew about it! She then told me that the worker told me at the desk that my dog almost bit her after drying. I told her that was not true.....the worker told me that he didn't like the blow dryer but did not mention anything about my dog trying to bite her. Haley called back the next day and said....Well, I wasn't there when you spoke to Jordan, so I can't speak on your phone call. So much for the customer is always right. She then said that it appears your unhappy with our service and recommended not to bring my dogs back. I was not going to bring them back anyways. She took the nail trimming off and gave me my discount with no accountablity or explanation for informing me/not informing me fir charges. She blamed me for my dogs GI upset, although they paid for the visit because they admitted to not paying attention to directions. This is solely a review of the retail side. And wow! I was helped by two different associates, Beka and Karen, and both were so helpful and patient even with my back and forth and indecision. Beka helped me return my online purchase and went over all the options on how to get a full return vs a store credit etc. Karen spent a good 10 minutes going over crates and sizes and prices with me. I just love seeing this level of customer care at big chains knowing it's not always such an appreciated job/pay. Wish I could give this business zero stars but unfortunately I can't, came in on a Saturday night and was looking to pick up a ball python, saw a couple bearded dragons in their tank and one of them was almost dead with another bearded dragon lying on top of it. When I asked the woman what was going on with this dragon and she said "oh he's sleeping" when the bearded dragon was obviously dying malnourished and a different color than all the other bearded dragons. These people don't know how to take care of animals at all, and they also lie to you, I bet you if I would have bought that dragon tonight she would have sold to me knowing it would have died in 2 days, I've heard stories about this place but after what I have witnessed tonight this place is absolutely disgusting they have no care for their animals at all I will never give this place my business ever again. This place should be ashamed for themselves and so should they're fucking employees for treating their animals like this and lying to customers. read more

This review is for the PetSmart Hotel on Walnut St. I have 2 large labs that I booked for 6 nights and asked for the the best deal and was told it would be the platinum pkg. As it turned out paid over $100+ more than we needed to and got poorer accommodations. I should have booked 2 individual rooms for them and they each would have had more space and their own cot. Instead, I paid over $20 night MORE to have them in a suite together with only 1 cot so one of them was on the concrete floor. (You would have thought putting 2 dogs in one room would save you something! No, it cost alot more! I was upset that one of the dogs slept on the concrete. They go through an extensive list of questions on dog needs at checkin. You would have thought they would have asked about cots. It appears they have had issues before on cots. She said that a lot of dogs like sharing a cot.. I lost it on that comment as these are 2 large 65lb dogs. One barely fit on the med size cot in room let alone 2. The website also has it clearly stated that the Platinum pkg INCLUDES a bath. The assistant Manager said she had no idea what the website said was included and didn't care. They charge for a bath but take a couple dollars off but they still charge. So much for the value of the platinum package. I am not even going to get into the fact they both got sick...So between paying more than I needed to for their stay and the misrepresentation of the platinum pkg this has been a miserable experience that I will continue to escalate. read more

This is the worst place to bring an animal you love. I had my boxer puppy that is 6 months old stay there from 8am-6pm and they didn't walk him ONCE. They expected him to pee and poop inside, which he is specifically trained NOT to do. When I signed my puppy up for daycare at the PetsHotel, they informed me that they will walk the puppy once a day and give him playtime. That never happened the 3 times I brought him there. He came home scared and hungry and thirsty after I would bring him home so I knew something was up. The staff are extremely rude and condescending. They wouldn't even apologize for mistreating my puppy. Instead they threaten to call the cops on me for trying to get my money back for my dog staying there. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVING SWEET ANIMALS HERE BECAUSE THE STAFF IS RUDE AND ABUSIVE. read more

HOWEVER today I had help from the best employee- Becca (Rebecca) helped me get a new tank for my bearded dragon. She even helped me take it to my truck and load it and tie it down! I just learned about PetSmart's discrimination against bully breeds the hard way. My 15 week old mixed breed puppy wasn't allowed to play with the other dogs when I dropped him off for daycare. He was SO excited to be there too. Being a puppy, he hasn't had any time to socialize with other dogs because of the vaccination process. I was heartbroken for him and livid with the corporate a-holes who allow this type of discrimination to take place. If only I'd known sooner...I would NOT have purchased the expensive dog food, Kong toys, treats, supplements, crates, cat stroller, pet beds, leashes, collars, bowls, cat tree, etc over the years. I take Lulu to Daycamp and the PetsHotel here and she LOVES it. The staff is so nice, knowledgable, and they truly love your dog. They work with you and give you updates. The prices are good here as well--they have great coupons and there is always someone on the floor to help you. But the highlight is definately the PetsHotel. All of them are FANTASTIC and Lulu loves them too. I will say as far as the grooming salon goes I did have a bad experience there--but its not problem, because the PetsHotel will give your dog a bath and nail grind and they do a great job! :) Thanks PetSmart staff for all you do!! read more

I bring my dog, Stella, to the PetsHotel Doggie Day Camp at least 3 times a week. I absolutely love it. Christian and Haley are the most delightful people. I am very attached to my dog and she is my life. I'm very cautious of who I take her too but she runs up to Christian and Haley every time. They always call her by her name and are very energetic when telling me how she did during the day. They treat your dog like they are their own. There have been a couple of times they've called me to update me on Stella and I really appreciate the fact that they do that. As long as they are there I will return! They were very nice and put up with my dog when she kept trying to pull her paws away while they were trimming her nails (she was nervous about the new place and new people). DO NOT board your dog here. I am disgusted with the staff and how they treated me and my dog. I dropped my dog off at petsmart early Saturday morning because I was going on a trip. Not even 15 minutes after I drop her off I get a call from Christy (apparently the supervisor) saying they can't get her collar off and I need to come back. I told them that I had to catch a flight so I would not be able to come back but just to give her some time to calm down and try again. About 4 hours later I get another call saying that they "couldn't get near her" without her trying to bite them and that she was putting the staff at risk. She told me that they had exhausted all of their options with her and that she could not stay there and I needed to come pick her up. I asked them if they could take her to Banfield to get anxiety medicine and she said that they would have to do bloodwork and a number of other things and acted like it was too much trouble. I told her that they could do whatever they needed to do to make my dog more comfortable. She did not even attempt to take her to Banfield and all she said was that they wouldn't do it. She gave me no other option but to come get her or she would stay in that room for 3 days and not be taken out. My family was out of town along with most of my friends because it was Memorial Day weekend and all she said was "sorry but we can't keep her here." I finally got a friend to go pick her up and as soon as she walked in the room my dog was excited and happy. She also told me that they had around 170 being boarded that weekend. I was appalled that they could fit that many in there and there is absolutely no way that any of those dogs had playtime or walks. Also, my dog has NEVER been aggressive and has been boarded at multiple places, multiple times with no problems including this exact location. I am certain that the problem was not my dog and that it was the staff at petsmart. This ordeal RUINED my weekend and I will never go back to this store. I am extremely disappointed in the way that the staff talked to me and handled the situation. I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more
