This is by far the worst restaurant/dinner in High Point. As a starter the wait service needs to be reminded that daily showers are absolutely necessary. You could fry an egg on some of the waiters hair. They should also be reminded that smiles work wonders and pot does not work well when working. The food is abominable. I ordered a chicken parmigiana dinner. The chicken had bones and it was definitely not breast. It was a huge dish substantially pasta with nasty tomato paste and some tasteless infamous quality cheese. Two bites into the dish I asked for it to go. I trust the dogs will accept it for breakfast. I ordered wine. Dear lord it was offensive, it tasted like turpentine! My friend ordered a BLT and described it as the worst his ever had. Again it was saved for the dogs breakfast. The fries, we were told were home made, these were like dog treats. They were cold and tasted like hell! Carolina dinner another hideous dining institution tasted like heaven. Let's all pray this place closes before the winter is over. Lousy to the utmost. Stay away at all cost. We were told that they accept High Point University meal tickets but students do not show up. I love University Kitchen. Have tried something different almost every time I've been. I do repeat on my favorites though - Parmesan Crusted Chicken & Country Style Steak. They make homemade garlic bread sticks out of their pizza dough that are wonderful! The service is exceptional and the portions are generous and priced quite affordably! read more

I went to this restaurant on the advice from a friend. I was in high point getting my car worked on and walked over to the restaurant. The place was getting full and I can tell you without a doubt this is the best food that I have ever eaten in a small hometown restaurant. I had the veggie plate with fried green tomatoes, baked mac and cheese, collard greens with onions on top, corn bread and yams.. I really did enjoy my meal and even tipped the waitress ten bucks since it was awesome service and it was my do a good deed day..so anyone wants a great meal, go check em out! read more

Food was not what it was advertised. Fried chicken was not fried, or if it was, it was doused in some vinegary sauce which made it at best barbecue chicken. Tossed salad was served with literally white lettuce. Chicken fried steak and white gravy were passable. Service was very slow but mostly nice people. My little cousin leaves tomorrow for a permanent foster home. My daughter, sister, parents and I wanted to take him to his favorite place for his "last meal" with us. Standing in the entry way waiting for a table. We count 9 booths and 6 free tables open. Yet, they wouldn't seat us. We're thinking, pull a table to the end of the booth or scoot two tables together. Well, this was far to much for the hostess to comprehend. I asked why, she was unable to seat us, and said more than 4 people can't sit in a booth. I asked why, my small daughter can't sit in between my sister and I and pull a chair up to the end. Eyes glazed over. No answer. Just "we can't sit more than four to a booth". I asked to talk to a manager. He was busy, I waited. I tried to explain our situation and that my daughter and I have still have a three hour drive home tonight, and it's now 7:00. Apparently in all the time they've been open, not one time have they ever put a chair at the end of the booth. When I assured him, it was perfectly okay, they let us take a seat. But the look on the face of the hostess and our server, let us know....We we're not welcome there, making us question the quality of the food to be served to us. So, in the end we left and found our way to another more acceptable restaurant. read more

I was introduced to this place by a friend and the food was so good, I couldn't wait to bring my family back the next time. The service was great on my first visit but this time around, it was HORRIBLE. We walked in and said "hello!" The employees looked up, didn't say a word, and continued to work on what they were doing. Finally, a manager (or owner) asked us how many in our party. We were seated and greeted by a nice server. She was the only one who was pleasant. All of the other employees were rude and made it very obvious that they didn't want to be there. The food was excellent, the service was excellent and our waitress was great as well. However, I asked for a box so that I could take the rest of my fried pickles home. I got up to pay for my meal, and after I paid I realized that I left the box on the table. Within two minutes of forgetting my box on the table, the whole table had been cleared and my box was no where to be found. The busser had thrown my box, full of fried pickles, right in the trash within two minutes of getting up from the table. I understand if I had left the restaurant, but I was feet away, within sight of the table, paying for my meal. The owner's response? "Sorry, mannn". I went for lunch with a colleague from work about a month ago. What an amazing meal. The menu is varied and tasty (I went a second time recently). University Kitchen is casual, well-priced and has a terrific wait staff, they are VERY personable. The pizza is wonderful, and coming from me that says a lot, because I grew up in NYC. If I could have rated this restaurant ZERO stars I would have. On my 30 MINUTE lunch break, I ordered the pizza and salad lunch special, WITHOUT CHEESE, due to me being a VEGAN, and a house salad. I received the salad first, which was what looked like a pre-prepared salad, I immediately noticed that the tomatoes were soggy from being kept too cold in the refrigerator(probably overnight) and thawed out for the day. I did not complain about the salad, thinking the pizza would make up for the horrid salad. When the waiter brought out the order of my co-worker(who was accompanying me to lunch), she advised me that the cook had to REMAKE my pizza due to him putting, extra cheese on the pizza, and not what I ordered, NO CHEESE(again I am VEGAN). I politely said ok, no problem. After about 10 minutes I asked the waiter how long it would take, due to me being on a 30 MINUTE lunch, and she said it will be right out,(If she would have told me it would take longer that a couple minutes, I would have just cancelled the order) after waiting an additional 10 minutes(now late for returning back to work) the waiter comes out with my pizza. I asked the waiter if she could see if I could get some type of discount for being inconvenienced and she said she would ask a manager. I am assuming a manager then came to the table and said since you are eating the corrected food we DO NOT give out any discounts. She said IF you would like to send the food back, I can take it off your bill. I simply stated I don't want to send it back due to the fact that I am now late for work, and do not have any time to stop elsewhere. She said ok, then walked away from the table. As I started to eat the ill-prepared pizza, I noticed that not only did the pizza have UNCOOKED CHEESE mixed in the COLD pizza sauce that was threw on top of the dough, but it also had contents of ITALIAN SAUSAGE(topping that my co-worker ordered) mixed in the sauce as well. I had the waiter send it back, and THEN she offered to take the meal off of my tab! The manager NEVER came back out to address the issue, or apologize for the poor food service. I felt extremely disrespected, and violated. I have NEVER received such poor quality in food in my life! I feel as though they do not care about the customers needs AT ALL! I ended up paying for my ENTIRE MEAL and vowing to NEVER go back to the restaurant. I work in Real Estate, and I will make it my duty to let EVERYONE I come in contact with know to NOT eat at this establishment! I WILL NOT RETURN TO THIS PLACE AGAIN! read more

My husband and I heard so much about this place concerning the food. I must admit it was very tasty. However when we ordered the drink, it came to us with a carbonated water taste. We asked the server was this Sierra Mist and he said it's sprite. We said we did not order sprite and he said well we don't have Sierra Mist and "I don't drink it and it's all the same to me " Anderson he was sort of nasty about the situation. Finally we just agreed on water. We also ordered potato chips as an appetizer and finally after a period of waiting , we asked what happened to them and he told us he misunderstood us. He said he didn't realize that we actually wanted the chips. Finally he apologized and some other waitress brought us the chips. He eventually warmed up. Before we were done with our meal another young lady ask if she could push a table that she was cleaning next to ours, mind you we were still eating , the other people who were seated at that table had just left . She was very snide with an unpleasant attitude as well. My advice is to go eat there if you don't mind taking a risk on service with bad attitudes but food that's ok read more
