The move went smoothly from the beginning till the end. The owner came right away to give me an estimate so we agreed on terms and flat price. I was promised that I will not be charged any extra dollar for anything and I have to say the company kept the promise. Also visual estimate was very important to me because I have expensive stuff that had to be transported extra carefully. The crew came 20 minutes earlier than we agreed and I was totally aware of that because I got a call in the morning. Me and my wife were already waiting with packed boxes and the things that had to be wrapped. The owner was participating too, checking that nothing will be broken or damaged. I should say working staff was very careful and helped as much as they could while my wife was running around asking to move things from one place to another. We agreed to move everything in two days, because we moved couple states away. Next day the crew came and unloaded all boxes. We insisted to check all important property while the movers were in the house. Nothing was damaged. Well, a little scratch on the back of the couch, but it's nothing comparing to the great job they did. Everything was wrapped and covered so no more serious damage. universal moving and storage team are excellent. These guys were great! i move from Bethesda MD to Arlington VA. I had David come to my house, and told him about what I liked and didn't like about my past moves. He assured me that I would not have that problem with his company. They even offered me a flat rate to do the move, rather than the normal hourly rate. They were very honest upfront and said the flat rate would be on the higher side of how long they thought it would take them to finish the job. I was ok with that, as long as I had the peace of mind of knowing how much this was going to cost me. I have a 4 bedrooms worth of stuff. Moshe and 2 other guys came to my house, while I sat back and drank coffee, and packed up then entire place and loaded it into the truck. I was very happy with the pace they were working with. They finished up the whole job in one day, working 9 hours. The entire job cost me $1,350 including all the supplies, which was reasonable and close to the other quotes I had received. The movers worked VERY hard. They were careful with all my furniture and items and ensured everything was wrapped and secured. They were extremely professional. I want to start by saying that I became a member just so I could write this review! 2 years ago my wife and I moved from Alexandria VA to Rockville MD by ourselves: no help whatsoever. It took us 14 hours to get all of our belongings up 4 flights of stairs to a 3rd floor apartment in Rockville. We swore we would either never move again or we would only move once we could afford to hire movers! This year we decided to lower our cost of living by moving to Frederick. We called around and were kind of horrified by the quotes we received. My wife looked on Yelp and found Universal Movers thanks to all of the positive reviews they had online. I called for a quote and we went with them. Of everyone we had called so far, they had the most reasonable prices. We booked about a month in advance. They called the day before the move to confirm, and showed up right on time. This was our first time hiring movers and we were very impressed: Moeshe (sp?) and his team were incredibly efficient. They had us moved from Rockville to Frederick in 3.5 hours including driving time! They showed up smiling, made the work seem easy, and took excellent care of our belongings. I hired Universal Moving to move my belongings from FL to WA. When i called the first time to ask them when they would be delivering it they did not have an answer and said they are not sure where it currently is located. Fast forwarding to when the truck actually arrived...(they were late) The company lost many of my belongings, my bed came damaged and it looked like they tried to repair it with glue, my expensive dresser was totally scratched, as they were carrying my dresser up the stairs they were dragging it as i have wood shavings all over the concrete. All of my fragile boxes were completely smashed. The employees were beyond rude when they arrived. They asked me to help them move my things after i paid them thousands of dollars. They also stated "you're lucky we brought this up the stairs" talking about my bed. My actual mattress was laying on the ground without a cover on it and was extremely dirty like they put it in dirt. Upon their departure, they left trash all over the neighborhood, left another clients belongings sitting on the side walk and in my house. I am extremely disappointed and upset. read more

I booked Universal Movers on September. We mover from DC to Maryland, 2BD apartment. Even the apartment was pretty small we had a lot of stuff. Movers help us with no problem, packet, wrapped, carried boxes very quickly. We had more difficulties with furniture which didn't fit through small door to carry out. But they were very helpful, unscrewed the bed, couch, dining table. I was afraid it will be scratched after such an experience, but after all everything looked ok, no damages were done. And actually the whole move was pretty fast, movers came in the morning around 8 and in the evening the same day (around 6) were done, plenty of time to start unpacking and placing furniture in places. Besides that I would say movers worked efficiently, the manager was there with us all the time. In the end we chatted and even got a little of discount. We called Universal Movers on March 25th and on 29th we already had out stuff picked up. Movers came on time, didn't give us a call before, but we were waiting outside anyway with some of the boxes. The staff was fast and efficient, I have to say they did what they came for. In 6 hours all the furniture and boxes were in a truck ready to go. Our new apartment was still occupied till the 1st of April so they kept our stuff for couple days in the storage. As for now we already have everything unpacked and organized, BR Movers came on April 1st to unload. We did not see any dirt, spots or rips, no scratches on frames and statues, other furniture my wife was very afraid about. Some boxes corners were a little smashed, but it didn't do any damage for the things inside. No damage - no complaints. I am not one to write reviewd but these are the movers to use! David and his crew are professional, kind, and fast, fast, fast! The whole process was extremely pleasant. The lady in the office, Sharon is kind and upfront. She will tell you everything you need to know. The quote we recieved was for a 9 hour move from our fully loaded storage unit and they completed the job in less than half the time. After reading reviews on how other movers jack up prices with ridiculously high packing fees I was hesitant to allow the movers to pack any of our stuff, but the cost for packing was very resonable. David and his crew did such a fantastic job that I plan on using them to move a piano in a couple of weeks. Did I say they were fast? Don't let those high priced movers trick you out of your money by trying to convince you that you have to spend a ton of money to get great service. I always do my homework before choosing a company. I found Universal movers on Yelp, the comments were good so I decided to give them a shot. First of all they came for visual estimate and we arranged flat price, because I had very bad experience in the past when a company gives you a price and in the end it becomes double. So at the same day the guy gave me flat price and promised that no extra charges will occur later on. He said he could do it for $2300 including all boxes and other packing stuff. For 4 bedroom apartment it's really good deal so I signed up with them. The most concern for me was the piano, which stays with us couple generations, but after all it seemed I had nothing to worry about. The crew was very careful, no scratches on my furniture, etc. And I even didn't have to pay for gas and packing!! Good job, highly recommended. read more

I dread the experience whenever I need to move. I've had movers show up at 5pm when they promised a 9am arrival and I've even had them not show up at all!!!! I had a sigh of relief with Universal Movers!!! I started the process with them in late April 2013. Contracts were drafted and follow ups were expeditiously addressed! I received a call to confirm the Thursday ( 6/27/13) prior to the Saturday (6/29/13) move. They were to arrive at 9am and they showed up at 8:55am. It's nothing more appreciated than talking to rep on really easy, friendly way - no sales pitch, no overselling. The guy explained the advantages they offer and I liked it. We agreed on flat price, the manager came to the house in VA where we used to live, checked how much stuff we have and gave me a price. Signed up on the spot. We moved to NJ and after all we didn't have any extra charges like it was promised. These guys helped to my daughter to move from Baltimore to Cleveland. Everything went smooth. We agreed on flat price so I did not have any extra charges what mostly occur after moving with other companies (I had bad experience in my life). They finished unloading at 10pm, but we had some extra stuff in garage to move to other place and it was too late to start. These guys agreed to stay over night and to come continue in the morning even thou we did not discuss that before. I really appreciate their job, they came early in the morning and finished the additional job in few hours.
