After finishing my other tests, I left, went back to my doctor for new paperwork, and scheduled another appointment at Labcorp--only to later see that Quest had already run the bile acid synthesis test and posted the results in my app. This kind of miscommunication is unacceptable and caused unnecessary stress, time, and extra appointments.

Despite the appointment time, my daughter was seen rather late. Fortunately, the phlebotomist had great bedside manners and was proficient in her work. As a former phlebotomist years ago, I'd say she was excellent. My daughter would beg to differ. This was her first experience getting a blood draw and she's not a fan of needles.

So I didn't get seen by a phlebotomist and walked out without patient care. I took my business to West Pac instead, where there was no wait, was seen as soon as I got there, where staff treated me like a patient and were kind, uplifting and compassionate toward patients. Staff acknowledges appointments book up 2 weeks in advance. Regrettably, I'm unable to schedule my illness two weeks in advance for your convenience. Despite being #1 on wait list, staff treated a walk in (who arrived 30 minutes after I did) before me. Over 2.5 hours have passed since they've called another walk in. When asked if any of us will be seen, we are told "I can't say." The waiting room, filled with walk ins, staff laughter and chit chat is audible yet no patients being called back.

We started with a 2D scan, but as soon as we experienced the 3D/4D scans, we knew there was no going back. Seeing our baby in such detail felt like we were really meeting him even before birth, every little kick, movement, and even facial expression! Week by week, we watched him grow. I'd heard that after 34 weeks, it's hard to see much, but we kept coming at 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39 weeks and every visit was magical. When he was finally born at 39 weeks and 4 days, I couldn't believe how perfectly he matched the ultrasound images, his hands, his movements, his little expressions...everything! I feel so thankful for the memories we captured even before our son arrived. Now that I am holding my baby in my arms, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. I want to say a big, heartfelt thank you to Esperanza for showing us the best moments of our baby and making this journey unforgettable. Unique Ultrasound gave us a way to connect with our little one in a way I will cherish forever.
