As a yogi I prefer the heat should come from within...One student even complained when she walked in, I was like, "yes"! Only then did they open a window. The teacher was okay but it's never okay to use profanity of any kind in a class situation and it's quite offensive. Considering I was a first time student she should have watched herself. In the end the class itself was wrong for me; too many props used. My Yogis always taught me that props are not a good idea...and I agree somewhat. I have a block and a strap that can be handy when I've returned to my mat after many falls and severe injuries. I've been a Yogi for 24 years. I several advanced training courses that I've taken over the years. I attended the "Harvard" of Yoga schools in 2005. It's called White Lotus and is located in the stunning Santa Barbara. In a few years I will be opening up my own Yoga Studio in Southern California, I so miss my Cali, not the taxes just the vibe... Every now and then I go back to the Bay Area to teach private classes to my loyal students. The location of this place is in the busy midtown area of Reno. Thankfully the parking wasn't a issue on a Sunday at 3. The studio was very nice and clean.

I came to Midtown because it is a little closer to my side of town and the schedule was perfect for my needs. I was able to get my first class free to try it out. I already knew I was impressed after the first class, but just in case I was not hooked I decided to do the new student pack of unlimited yoga classes for the first month for only 45.00. All the staff seem to be very helpful and very nice to talk to. The teachers are very knowledgeable about the practice. Most classes are for about and hour and 15 min and some even offer the essential oil to help relax at the end of practice. If you are new to yoga or looking for an affordable place for your practice you should give Midtown a try.

You know some places it's obvious that everyone in the class has been going for years and the instructor explains what she's doing but she's going so fast that you really can't get into? This is not that! Every class I have tried I have thoroughly enjoyed. I never feel like a bother when I have to ask for clarification and generally, I don't even have to ask because it's either been explained well or the instructor is cruising around correcting posture and whatnot as she teaches. I feel completely comfortable here. The studio itself is very warm and inviting. Both of the rooms have their charm and I love the floors, I think they are cork? This place gives me all of the warm fuzzies.

The instructors are great and I always feel incredible after attending their hot classes. The most challenging for me is hot floor Pilates - it is worth every second and will whip you into shape. I've never been to a class that felt too packed, which is one of my favorite things! Bring a yoga mat, large towel to go over your mat, small towel to wipe the sweat, and lots of water. There are plenty of girls and guys in the classes I have been to, so don't be shy.

My one hesitation: towel use is inconsistently allowed. My first class back was a full 90-minute traditional class (all 26 postures, twice) with a newer instructor - I used a towel briefly, just for grip during bow pose, and it wasn't an issue at all. In my next two classes, at two different locations, more experienced instructors firmly enforced a strict no-towel policy, citing traditional Bikram purity. What's interesting is that this doesn't match the studio's own history. A 5-star review on this page from about three years ago specifically recommends bringing both a large towel for your mat and a small towel to wipe sweat - and the owner replied directly thanking the reviewer and welcoming them to the community. So towels were clearly fine at one point. The studio also modifies the traditional method in other ways today (music in the 60-minute class, dog yoga), so the current strict enforcement feels selectively applied rather than a consistent, longstanding rule. Worth knowing going in if you sweat heavily or need a towel for grip on certain poses - bring a sweatshirt or wristbands as a workaround, or ask before you book.
