Not only does this Lagree studio provide a challenging workout, but there is such a sense of community. The owners Amie and Carli have taken the approach of cultivating a space open to anyone. There are weekly and monthly events. There are educational talks about menopause, pelvic floor, pregnancy. There are challenges that keep you motivated. But the most amazing part of Peach, is the teachers. I have gone to many Pilates/Lagree studios in Reno and this is the one where I have found such a depth in the quality of teachers. It seems like training is an integral part of Peach, and that shows in the instructors. I do have my personal favorites (looking at you Kaylee, Audrey, Perla, Amie) but every time I decide to take a different teacher due to some scheduling conflicts, I'm still loving the workout. I've also taken some classes with brand new teachers that I'm excited to take again. Finally, the space is absolutely beautiful. It's a delight to work out in with beautiful mirrors, lighting and inspiring quotes.

However, Peach Lagree really sold themselves to me. I started with an intro class as I had never heard of Lagree and wanted to try something new. Then, I did an 8 class pass but because I became consistent during those 8 classes, it was hard not to continue, so I decided to commit to a membership and am glad I did. 3 months in of going weekly and every time, I leave feeling great because I know I dedicated 45 minutes to myself, completed a great workout, which leaves me sore 2 days later, but also because it has pushed me outside of my comfort zone. What really stood out with this studio compared to other fitness places is how welcoming the instructors are - they greet and acknowledge you and check in with you, especially your first time. But also because while they're still a business, they work to build a community - encouraging support for one another and incorporating workshops that are relevant to women's health and inclusive to all ages (I.e: pelvic floor, menopause, etc). Not to mention, they hold fun classes such as BYOB (bring your own boo). My membership includes a free guest pass, which was one of the selling points for when I decided to commit because it has been fun introducing lagree to my friends and family! The only complaint is the studio is far from me, but it's worth it! Also, they nailed it with their decor and vibes!

Upon entering the studio, there is a comfortable sitting area and cubbies for shoes and personal items. The main room houses reformers, a barre and Ped O Pulls, and the secondary room has a Cadillac, mat space, and chairs. Both mirrored rooms are well-lit, clean, and spacious. Your Body Pilates offers private lessons as well as small group classes. The norm in group Pilates reformer classes is typically up to 12 clients, whereas here you receive smaller, more individually tailored classes of up to 5 clients for their COREtet classes and 10 for their MAT+ classes. There are two private changing rooms and two adorable bathrooms, with a shared sink, that give a Zen spa-like experience. The owner, Gretchen, is a professional dancer and has many years of experience and an incredible background of training. I've taken several classes from her, and I highly recommend both her and her gorgeous studio! The classes are a little more expensive than the norm, but you get quality instruction, rather than the quantity of large classes. For full disclosure, after discovering this one of a kind studio, I just started working here as well!

All of these factors have made me feel incredibly welcome and supported as a new student. However, one teacher in particular has really made certain that I will keep coming back long after my new student special has ended. I have predominantly been a bikram method yogi previously because I consider myself to be choreographically challenged and I always have trouble following along with all the changing movements of yoga classes. I often times get exasperated and anxious, feeling like I simply can't keep up, nor do I know how to adjust myself when I get off track and lost. However, the instructor Kat Ames has really helped me feel hand held and guided with the most incredible patience trying to help me understand how to really drop into every posture she recommends. Her kind corrections and adjustments feel gentle and supportive and I love how she actually SEES me and is paying attention to what I am doing - like my experience as a student in her class truly matters. Thanks to Kat I am learning new ways to use yoga tools like balls and straps and I can thoughtfully notice whether a posture is really softening the part of my body we are targeting because my teacher uses language that is so relatable and specific. Not to mention, I absolutely love it when she breaks out her sound bath bowls. They just make me feel like I am relaxing in another dimension. I took a yin class here last Sunday. What I have found at most Reno yoga studios is the rooms are…read morealways! heated even when it's not advertised as a "Hot" or Bikram class. As a yogi I prefer the heat should come from within...One student even complained when she walked in, I was like, "yes"! Only then did they open a window. The teacher was okay but it's never okay to use profanity of any kind in a class situation and it's quite offensive. Considering I was a first time student she should have watched herself. In the end the class itself was wrong for me; too many props used. My Yogis always taught me that props are not a good idea...and I agree somewhat. I have a block and a strap that can be handy when I've returned to my mat after many falls and severe injuries. I've been a Yogi for 24 years. I several advanced training courses that I've taken over the years. I attended the "Harvard" of Yoga schools in 2005. It's called White Lotus and is located in the stunning Santa Barbara. In a few years I will be opening up my own Yoga Studio in Southern California, I so miss my Cali, not the taxes just the vibe... Every now and then I go back to the Bay Area to teach private classes to my loyal students. The location of this place is in the busy midtown area of Reno. Thankfully the parking wasn't a issue on a Sunday at 3. The studio was very nice and clean.

I started reformer Pilates in March of 2018 to try to relieve the symptoms of chronic plantar fascitis and to find a method of exercise that would build strength and balance as I head into my 50th decade. The results were excellent however, I had to move on from that studio for other reasons I will not go into here. I tried the Pilates at Double Diamond Athletic Club...this is not true Pilates. Aside from 1 instructor, the others are personal trainers using reformers as gym equipment. The "mind/body" connection is lost also because there are loud aerobic classes going on nearby. I found Lisa W. at Mind Over Movement and I am very happy. I did not know a reformer could be so solid, smooth and just FEEL it was made with great quality. Lisa's teaching and queing is excellent. The music she plays is spa-like, allowing you to get into the "mind" of the movements you are executing. I had never used the towers before and that is an awesome add to the reformer. I also feel Lisa's pricing is fair. I buy the 6-pack. Paying in advance for 6 classes is good pricing AND MOST ESPECIALLY, I never have to worry about making up classes I may have missed due to my own schedule. Additionally, there are two restrooms that are oversized and CLEAN...perfect for changing clothes before/after class. She also has mini bottled water on hand that she does not charge for. Caution though...don't take advantage of this as a freebie. BYO water and use theirs only if you need. Be a courteous student! See my other reviews on other Reno Pilates studios.
