Very displeased with the service I received from this office. I understand the office is small but the hallway should not be used for all purposes, especially if they do not plan to properly prep the area before and after draws. I needed IgG titers ASAP to meet a work requirement and they ensured me they would be ready Monday (I came in on a Wednesday). I confirmed this multiple times before I signed any documents or paid. However, when I called on Monday the man who answered was extremely rude when I asked what the hold up was. If the labs weren't ready that is understandable but he could have easily owned up to the fact and apologized, instead he yelled at me and proceeded to hang up on me, all without allowing me to get a word in otherwise. Honestly, if I hadn't had this unfortunate exchange with this man I would've given them 4 stars and moved on but you can't be in a business like this not have basic customer service skills and phone manners. read more

I came to Unilab to get my blood tested since it cost a lot more done at my doctor's office. Unilab lists the price online, so you know what you're paying for the type of work you need done. They seem to be honest with the prices. It is walk in welcome, so you don't need to make any appointments. The service is fast and quick. There wasn't anyone waiting before me so I was in and out of the place within 10-15 minutes. This is probably the quickest visit I've had before. The doctor withdraw your blood and another doctor explain to you on when you will receive your results and such. I got my results emailed to me 2 business days later. I enjoyed the service and very thankful they are around for inexpensive blood tests. One thing I didn't like as much is their location. Laboratory work can be quite expensive out-of-pocket. Fortunately I discovered Unilab Inc. through a quick internet search. The office is conveniently located just a block or so north of the Austin Green Line stop. I was greeted professionally and quickly tended to upon arrival. The price list is readily available and individual tests are extremely affordable. I was able to get six blood tests/screens for employment purposes completed for only $120. These tests would have cost me *much* more money to complete through my physician. Initially when I entered, I was asked if I had a doctor's order since it is now required by state law. I explained that I did not have a doctor's order and I was instructed to simply provide my doctor's number and office location and that they would secure the authorization. For the sake of simplicity, I did contact my doctor's office to request the authorization myself since it would be easier. Dr. Siva, the manager, was extremely helpful in helping to explain how they would screen for a couple of uncommon tests that I needed for employment purposes and he was quick to clarify anything I didn't understand. Phlebotomists usually have trouble finding a good spot to draw blood since my veins are deep. The phlebotomist that drew my blood was patient and waited until she found the best spot, which was in my left hand rather than my arms. I thought it would hurt quite a bit (I usually bruise and feel sore after getting blood drawn), but there was little pain and no bruising. The office itself needs organizing and some interior decorating, but service is efficient and extremely cost-effective (which is what matters). The facilities are clean; all staff members are licensed in their appropriate fields and follow mandated guidelines for universal precautions and laboratory work. I was recommended UniLab by my doctor to save money on blood test panels I wanted to do. I thought it was important to mention that UniLab did not seem very sanitary. Nice people but it's very disorganized there, and office uncleanliness is an understatement! I don't know that I would recommend clients there. Just my opinion, but wanted you to know that they are very nice people all the same, but kind of gross interior location! Especially to be drawing blood. It's important to mention that the person who drew my blood did a perfect job. So if saving money is of the utmost importance, then this place is perfect. However, it could use a very good deep cleaning and removal of unnecessary boxes and food and all sorts of binders everywhere. I wanted to dive in and organize that place it was driving me nuts! You will see if and when you go there. I wish them all the best but come on this is your place of business, organize it and be prideful. The ceiling was falling apart! In terms of your clientele, make sure you have the highest standards in regard to a sanitary environment. My NP recommended that I get low cost vaccination titers at Unilab since my insurance company would not pay for them. This lab charges a small fraction of what other places charges. I was surprised by the cluttered, unkept look of the lab and by the fact that only cash was accepted, but their professionalism and knowledge were never in question and more than made up for the lack of aesthetics. My phlebotomist was an expert at blood draws and found my hidden veins without difficulty. If I find myself having to pay out of pocket again, I will definitely go back. Came to get 5 different tests done and paid a grand total of $135. I was in and out in 15 minutes, quickly got my results in a couple of days, and the doctors there were very polite and courteous. Great facility with great staff to get blood tests and other lab tests done! I visited on August 9, 2016, and Ms. Nichols was professional and greeted me courteously. After handing over the prescription for my test, the nurse was very efficient in the blood draw. The test results were Faxed to my doctor and a copy was emailed to me at my request. This was done in a timely manner! Unilab clinic is easily accessible by the CTA Green Line, and also by buses. For those who prefer to drive, there is plenty of street parking available; some metered. Unilab has simple premises, and you are not paying for a crystal chandelier! I had a blood-draw w/ full-panel test (& urinalysis) done here recently (this was curiously part of a 'groupon' special). Very quick and simple and at a price far less than the value of the various bits of information you'll be made specifically aware about your health (in conjunction w/ physician consult). The kind of thing IMO can be done regularly to detect and monitor natural but unexpected body trends as they develop over the years with accuracy so you can get in front of them (before they get ahead of you). Low Cost Blood Tests! It took me forever to find this place. It has saved me MANY HUNDREDS of dollars! My Doctor insisted I get 3 blood tests. At Northwestern they cost about $650.00 without insurance. I called around and the low cost clinics had to have proof of income, asests, bills etc..and if you're not on public assistence, forget it. I discovered unilab a few years ago when I had no health care insurance. I need to have three types of blood test twice a year for my doctor. I had found through the affordable care act a plan that covered my blood work so out of convenience I started going to quest diagnostics. My health plan was cancelled do I had to pick another plan that I could afford. Tbe only problem is that my blood work was not covered through them. It work had run into hundreds of dollars. I just went back to unilab yesterday, and it only cost me fifty eight dollars for a lipid profile, cmp, and a a1c test. This included a ten dollar blood draw fee. They advised me that I would be responsible for a reimbursement from my insurance. That is interesting bc they are aware that cash pay services are not contracted rates. I have high deductible with my health insurance. My doctor told me to get my TSH test done once in 6 months to adjust the dose. This lab charges me much less than what the Hospital lab costs. I was very happy with my experience with Unilab. I first called them for information (hours, location, payments, available tests, etc.). The person who answered was very helpful. I walked into the office (it can be hard to find since it's on the second floor). At first I was taken aback as it looks so different from the typical busy doctor's office. It's a small office with everything is contained within one room. I was nervous about going here based on their outward office appearance, but what they lack in appearances, they more than made up on everything that counted with me. All necessary certifications, business licenses and associations are on the wall. They were very professional, friendly, patient yet efficient, fast and very reasonable priced. I was in and out in less than an half hour. And the test results were faxed to my doctor and emailed to me within a week. I want to emphasize on how reasonable priced the blood tests were. I think my tests would have been at least 4x this amount had I gone to a hospital setting. This is a great place to go for blood tests, especially for people without insurance. The last time I had blood work done at a doctor's office, I waited for about a month and a half - finally made a call - and then the results were given to me. Assumedly, (Loyola) I got lost in the shuffle of a very large place. Another time, the results showed that my thyroid was dangerously low and the top of the page mailed to me said that I was just fine - fell within in the normal range (good thing I understood where TSH levels should be)..
