This place is a scam. They passed off a Physician's Assistant (Patrick Stagg) as an actual Doctor. I only found out he was a physician's assistant and not an actual doctor when i double checked his prescription with ChatGPT, and it looks like he prescribed the wrong medicine. When I googled the "Doctor's" name, I saw him listed as a physician's assistant. I came here to see a Doctor, not a physician's assistant that prescribed the wrong medication! very deceptive and dishonest, and does not provide the correct care. Update 12/17/25. Also want to mention that when i came back the next day to verify the prescription with an actual doctor, the Nurse Practitioner looked up the records and saw that Mr. Stagg also logged in the case incorrectly as "Laryngitis", even though the test results showed Pneumonia. the Nurse than gave me a different prescription from what fake "doctor" Stagg prescribed. Do not go to this place if you value honestly and actual correct health care. Update 12/19/25 - turns out my child might be allergic (itchy and slight rash) to the medicine that was prescribed. I called in, and a different Physician's Assistant said, "oh if its an actual allergic reaction we are not equipped to deal with that. You should just go to the emergency room" WTF! this place is a joke not an actual Dr's office. Since there are no actual Doctors that actually work at this clinic. Scheduled an appointment for a flu test. I came in obviously extremely ill. They tried to charge me for the full visit, even though I showed them coming up as in-network in my insurance app and my insurance card showed the correct copay. Went here because I hurt my knee going ice skating. I made an appointment online (which was super easy) so when I got there, I waited maybe 5 minutes and then was seen right away. They did an X-ray, prescribed some meds, and a gave a referral to an orthopedic in case it doesn't get better. NP Flowers and all the staff were so caring, accommodating, and informative. Don't go here. Wish I'd read all these one-star reviews before going. It's weird enough that you have to pre-pay for a service before you receive it, but on top of that it's a drab, austere place where my medical information was written down on a pad of post-it notes. This is a quote from their website: "X-rays & Diagnostics Quick and convenient testing WellNow Urgent Care provides X-ray technology and multiple on-site testing options, to take the guesswork out of your diagnosis." Their X-ray tech is NOT onsite, there's nothing quick or convenient about it. I was planning on cancelling my payment thru my credit card company, but after reading the nightmare others have been subjected to with their dishonest collection practices, it's not worth the hassle. DO NOT GO HERE. I went in for an ear infection, which I had to go back three times to finally get the right care, but that's not the biggest issue. The billing is a scam, I do not have insurance so paid $175 up front. I was told this covered the visit and follow ups. A week later I get a bill for $150. There is no explanation on the bill of what that is for. I call billing immediately and speak with someone who said they will review it and I will get an updated bill in the mail. Go forward 5 weeks to now, i realize i never got an updated bill. I check the portal and its the same $150. I call billing and they state that i have never called before and there is no record or someone saying that. Said they can't do anything, and to call the doctors office. They also threw in that I had abnormal results showing on something (first i am ever hearing this) I call the doctors office and ask what is going on. How do I have abnormal results but no one has contacted me in any way to tell me this? FIVE WEEKS after the appointment? I ask what the $150 bill is for and the person on the phone said I had "wound care". I told him I had an ear infection and he agreed that it was weird to have this bill for a wound care . Also addressed it was weird that no one has contacted me with the results. I was able to get no answers or information regarding anything that I needed. I am confused and angry. They are taking advantage of people and their health. Shame on this place. Do NOT go here. Better off at a CVS minute clinic or north shore immediate care. TLDR: Beware, deceptive billing practices. Lots of urgent care choices, go somewhere else. Went in for a TB quantiferon blood test for work and paid out of pocket. Was told over the phone and in person cost was 125 dollars which I paid up front. Two months later got a separate bill from quest lab for 384 dollars! Talked to billing and told it would be taken care of. Instead got a followup over due notice from Quest two months after that. Quest said no one reached out and so then talked to billing. Guess what, they now said too bad, not their problem. So for a test that I could have gotten directly at quest for 150 bucks, i was forced to pay 500 dollars. PIC charged me 125 dollars for the privilege of a blood draw. Filed a complaint with the Illinois Office of the attorney general consumer protection and will be filling a complaint with the BBB. read more

I'm grateful that Physicians Immediate Care in Chicago was there when I needed urgent care (I was visiting from out of state and got the worst sore throat ever), but my experience left much to be desired. The facility was less than ideal; the interior seemed a bit unkempt and the inclusion of a snack basket in the waiting room was somewhat off-putting. Idk why you would need shareable snacks in a sick person waiting room... ew Things took a more concerning turn when I was finally seen. I had a nasty sore throat and was concerned it might be strep. The initial interaction with one of the staff members left me feeling unheard and frustrated. I told her my symptoms and she argued that sore throat and sniffles are not covid symptoms of covid, even though they famously are. She goes, "youd know if you had covid... have you ever even had it?" I replied "yes, and it started out with a sore throat". I had to argue my case for a COVID test, which I requested as a precaution. Idk why you wouldn't just let me have a covid test, I am paying to be here. When the doctor finally arrived to examine me, it was with some dismay that I observed a lack of proper hygiene. She set down the tongue depressor directly on the bed - where patients with various illnesses sit - before placing it in my mouth. She didn't wash her hands or wear gloves before or after touching my mouth and face. Given that I was already unwell and she worked in an urgent care setting, this felt unsanitary and straight up nasty. In terms of communication, they claimed they would email me the results but failed to do so, but started texting me for weeks asking for a review. While the availability of urgent care services is undoubtedly important and my rapid test results put me at ease, I was pretty grossed out and disappointed with my visit here. It was icky. read more

Went in October 13 with a raging sinus infection including infected ear and sore throat/cough. I was given multiple swab tests, then I was examined... and sent away with a few common sense home remedies typed on a sheet of paper. No medication. No Covid test. Tried a few times over the next couple of days to find out my test results but couldn't get through to anyone in the office or organization to find them out - but I eventually gave up when I realized that there was no way to actually contact them directly. They had on record my phone number, mailing address and email but never contacted me with test results. It's now November 27 (I'm still sick) and all I've gotten from PIC is a co-pay bill for $66 for "Medical Services". Pretty disgusted that they charged $325 pre-insurance for what amounted to nothing but a waste of my time. read more

While I think the quality of care is good here, I checked my credit card statement at the end of the month and discovered a $360 charge to PIC along with the $25 copay to my insurance company for an August visit. I called the billing department and they stated that they charged me for the service and that I would be reimbursed once the insurance went through. That makes so sense. They had no idea what was wrong so how would they know what to charge. Also, the doctor is not on a reimbursement system. It's like going to the hospital for a surgery and asked to pay upfront before insurance can be notified. I have great insurance. The actual claim was for over $150 and my responsibility is for $33 of it. Where they got the $360 is beyond me, Again the billing department said that they had to wait for insurance to go through which it did so where is my money???? I paid that amount on the spot and then months later was billed an additional $140 without any context. When I visited this location on July 21, 2024 I was charged $165 on the spot for my visit. I was confused because I have insurance, this facility is in-network and I was sick. I later found out that their billing system had issues confirming patient information with Blue Cross Blue Shield on the weekends, so they billed people out-of-pocket when this happened. Feels a little unethical considering the problem is with their system and not the patient, but I was assured I would be reimbursed if/when my insurance paid for the visit. Well, my insurance did pay for my visit. I've now made six phone calls over the last couple of months to the billing department and have spoken to at least that many people who can see that I am owed money but they're unable to get me reimbursed. The phone calls take longer and longer because hold times have gotten longer. They claim that I will be reimbursed, but nothing happens. The amount of time I've put into this is probably not worth the money I'm owed. Don't give them money unless it is perfectly clear why you are being charged the amount. Being taken advantage of when you're sick and you just need to see a doctor is really lousy. And if you have other urgent care options in-network unlike me, go somewhere else. read more

Loved Physicians Immediate Care before they became part of Well Now.. doctors are great. However, Very disappointed in the billing processes since Wellnow took over. We have been going for years to Physician Immediate care and will no longer be going anymore, which seems to be the sediment of a lot of families in the area. We provide our insurance, which is NO co-pay for immediate care and then to be seen they advise per our insurance that we have to pay $98.09. Contacting the billing department is a nightmare, no emails or returns your calls and then they advise that it's the clinic that calls and verifies the insurance, well if that was done they would see that we have no co-pay. Right now they are sitting on over $300 of money we paid in co-pays and advised they have no idea when that will be processed. What a joke, I would be hesitant to go here, as there are other immediate cares that actually run ur insurance and dont try to scam you out of more money than what is owed. read more

Most disturbing healthcare visit Ever! I've waited a couple of months before writing this review because I was hoping the memory would leave my mind, but the memories of the trauma is still present. The place was empty so service was prompt. I spent more time disputing giving my SS# (no one requires a that anymore) than waiting for the APN. I went in for shoulder pain and Ashley the APN triaged me for 12 minutes asking questions about heart disease and heart symptoms. I get it- I'm an overweight, black woman over 50, but regardless of how many times I said no- to having chest pain, or trouble breathing, Ashley continued to steer the questions around cardiac care. My blood pressure was normal and my shoulder had limited range of motions, I could not elevate my arms and the pain was localized to my deltoid and scapular. I've had this pain before. I decided to ask Ashley where's she's going with the questions when I'm in for shoulder pain. Her response was a typical dismissal of anything that I had been saying. After Ashley asked me to make two movements with my shoulder she then listened to my heart and lungs (this is important, pay attention) and said "it's probably muscular" and offered me narcotics, which I declined. She suggested that I could do PT to which I said "would that be the best way to move forward without X-rays or an MRI". Ashley responded that she could write an order for an MRI or refer me to an Orthopedic but "an x-ray would show anything". At this point I was feeling more Marginalized than ever. I have two over-prices degrees and have worked in Ambulatory care and as Operations Directors for a lot of years and I have never been treated so poorly, or with so much assumed biases. Classic treatment in healthcare of the Marginalized population. At the end of the visit I told Ashley that she made me feel uncomfortable and dismissed. I told her that she didn't listen to me and she made judgements about me because of what I look like and she didn't hear me. Ashley apologized but the sting never left and it's still with me. I left and later read the after visit summary and there was a free texted message in the assessment area of the note that said "heart and lungs were not assessed- A big fraudulent statement. Ashley didn't touch my shoulder but she listened to my heart. I might just forward this message to TJC. After the visit I went to see an orthopedic doctor and now I'm having PT. I've also visited my pcp and had a series of heart studies because I became a basket case because of how Ashley made me feel. Every cardiac test was normal or negative, but we knew that going in. You know what else- I now have a $120 bill for being insulted and having my heart and lungs listened to but not documented. Never Ever Will I go back. read more

I accompanied a friend (safely-distanced & double-masked) here to get COVID testing since his insurance wasn't accepted at Advocate Medical Group a block away. They saw him right away and gave him the test. Yes...positive. I was struck by how fast they took him back when he arrived. It was a weekday & an hour or so from closing. I go here because it's the one my insurance covers, but I'd keep going, too, because I always feel taken seriously and my concerns have been addressed well every time. I'm stressed any time I go here because there's some immediate medical problem that I don't think can wait, and the PAs have all been great at helping me understand what's going on, sorting through options, being realistic with me, and clarifying the scope of their practice at this level of care. Went in with persistent abdominal pain hoping my suspicion of it being appendicitis was incorrect. They collected my information and told me they accepted my insurance. The physician saw me for approximately 2 minutes to simply press the location of the appendix and tell me to go to an ER. On the way out I tried asking about how payment/insurance worked so I could choose whichever option was cheaper. I was told "it doesn't matter, you're going to reach your out-of-pocket maximum tonight regardless". They billed me significantly more than anything listed on their website and my insurance covered almost nothing. My subsequent trip to the ER was cheaper with my insurance, and included actual medical testing/care. To top things off, the bill also arrived with only 1 week available to pay it, which was ridiculous. I'll just go straight to the ER next time regardless of symptoms. read more

Came in to see if I have strep throat. 1 hour after my appointment time I am still waiting. When I asked, I was informed that the appointment time you reserve online isn't really an appointment. It just places you in line ahead of a walk in. Further explanation: "We only have one physician and one tech so it's impossible for us to see everyone on time." So much for "immediate." Went here recently with abdominal pain. Doctor was kind but dismissive and made note numerous times of closing soon. They told me I shouldn't worry it's likely a stomach ulcer or something minor. They gave me an antacid concoction that immediately made me throw up and sent me on my way. Worst experience ever had with a healthcare facility. The first time we walked in for a COVID test visit last week, we were told it was an hour and half wait and we got a call to inform us to come in. We had another walk-in today around 1:10pm and was told the same thing- an hour and half wait. Since we live nearby, we didn't mind the wait. We went back for lunch and kept waiting for the call. I checked my phone every couple minutes, but didn't hear anything from the clinic. So we walked in to check in around 2:50. Right after we walked in, I got a message saying that the appointment was cancelled due to no show. I was so confused because I never heard from them. Then they showed us a paper record to prove they had sent messages three times and the first one was before 2 o'clock, which was not an hour and half like they said. We tried to explain that we did not get the messages and we were expecting a call like last time because we assumed it was how they normally do, and the woman said in an arrogant and annoying voice, "but we still contacted you regardless" like it was none of their business as long as they sent the messages. Seems like the clinic doesn't care if the patients got the messages or not, and they didn't even bother giving a call to make sure we got the messages. The woman's attitude was the worst part, especially in a medical care facility. Seeing us leaving upset, she sarcastically said " have a great day" with a very cold tone. A good day with more potential COVID exposure to others? As patients, we felt really hurt and sad. The picture attached shows all the messages I got from them. Immediate MD gets two thumbs up, one each for a different reason. 1. Customer service. Having never been to one of these types of facilities, I was expecting the worst (mitigated somewhat by the outstanding Yelp rating). However, all of the staff were pleasant, efficient, and competent. They also called two days later to follow up. 2. Diagnosis and treatment. I had a mysterious, highly localized pain that did not seem to be a symptom of any obvious illness or injury. The doctor wasn't 100% sure but he gave me a primary diagnosis and a backup diagnosis, with a prescription for each. And after two days with the first drug my pain began to subside, and after six days it was gone completely. Hurrah! The only con is that you may have to simmer a while in a room full of sick people (with awful children's cartoons playing). On a Sunday mid-morning, I waited one hour with four other people ahead of me and two (I think) in the exam rooms. So that's about ten minutes per customer--not bad I suppose. Then I was inside the exam room for about thirty minutes. I never got the impression that there was anything slack or slow about their operation; that's just how long it happens to take. read more

I have an immediate care center that I typically go to when sudden illness strikes, and it is not this one. I went to this one because it's about 5 blocks from my job and I was feeling sick while I was at work. It all started when I woke up with a scratchy throat on Friday morning. I initially thought maybe I was just getting a cold so I rested up over the weekend, only to find myself with barely able to swallow by Monday. Additionally, my lymph nodes were swollen, I had white spots on my tonsils, nausea, low-grade fever, chills, muscle weakness, all that fun stuff! I just had strep throat about two years ago, and this seems like the same thing. So I figure I can just pop in and get a rapid strep test, a prescription for antibiotics, and be on my way to feeling better, right? Nope. First problem was that their website clearly states that they accept medicare. They do not. I figured I was already there and since I was feeling so sick, I'd just pay the $165. Oh, how I regret that decision. Like a previous reviewer commented, they barely got the q-tip in my throat before sending it off for testing. Shocker - it came back negative. Doc spoke to me fairly condescendingly and told me I just had a virus and it would go away on it's own. Look, I'm 35 years old, I've had my fair share of colds and such. I've also had strep twice in my adult life. I know the difference. I had no classic cold symptoms like a stuffy or runny nose. The first time I had strep as an adult, I went to my preferred immediate care center. In that case, the rapid test also came back negative. However, they said since I was showing all the symptoms, they'd send it to the lab and give me antibiotics in the meantime - then if it turned out not to be strep, they'd call me and tell me to stop the antibiotics. Turns out it was strep after all, and by the time they confirmed it, I was at least two days into my antibiotics and feeling good as new! (of course, I still finished them) So, that is how one SHOULD handle this type of case. Physician's Immediate Care offered me nothing. When I asked the doctor what I should do when it doesn't "go away on it's own", he kind of chuckled and said "oh, it has to!" But then he did add that I should call in three days if I don't feel better. Yeah, who wants to put up with three more days of strep? Who wants to risk spreading a highly-contagious bacterial infection to anyone they come in contact with? Well, not me, that's for sure. I was lucky enough to get in somewhere else after work, was correctly diagnosed with strep and given antibiotics. What a waste of time and $165. Definitely never going back to this place. I commented to two staff members about the issue with their website saying they accepted Medicare, and they both seemed indifferent and were just like "oh, maybe other locations do." or "oh, it shouldn't say that. maybe they need to update the site." I have gone here over the years at least a dozen times and have always had a super fast, easy, painless and helpful experience. Lately I seem to get Bianca Doherty and she is great. The staff is always friendly and helpful. One time, I was having chest pains and they did the tests right in the office within minutes. Last winter, I had a bad chest cold and they offered a breathing treatment. Today, I got an influenza test. I feel as if I get significantly better care there than other urgent care services. A few weeks ago, my fiancé spent 2 days really ill in bed with what he thought was some kind of throat infection. Almost 2 weeks later I too started feeling unwell - headache, shortness of breath, dizziness, which all persisted a few days. As my parents are in their 80's, we decided I should try to get a Covid test. My fiancé called the closest healthcare facility to us - Physicians Immediate Care - who said no appointment was necessary and that I should come as early as possible the next morning. He jogs by this location and sees the "walk-ins welcome" decal on one of the facility windows every morning. So, I walked to the facility next morning at 8AM, tried to sign in, and was told I could only be tested if I came in a car. As we live in a reasonably busy city neighborhood, we choose not to own a car, so that seemed to be that. On returning home furious and telling my fiancé, he called the clinic to point out that he reads in their window every morning that "walk-ins" are welcome. The clinic representative said that there was now a sign on the sidewalk saying that only patients with cars could be seen. He was pretty frustrated now and indicated that this sign had not been there when he had run by an hour earlier. At which point the clinic representative simply hung up. After calming down, he again called and was told that apparently because the local residents (the clinic is on the ground floor of an apartment complex) objected, walk-ins were not being tested. She also indicated that the alderman had signed off on this process. So, my fiancé then called the alderman. He was surprised to learn of the situation - and his apparent involvement - and said he would look into it. Later that day he called back to say that he had talked with the clinic management, and that my fiancé should return to the clinic the next morning where she would indeed be processed on the sidewalk (there is a conveniently located entrance area for this). He also indicated that clinic management was going to appropriately inform/instruct the staff at the location. Next morning at 8AM, I returned to the clinic but was again refused a test - for the same reason. Their management had still not communicated with them, they refused to act without instructions from on high, and it took further calls with the alderman and between him and clinic management to finally get tested. Other than the fact that this whole process was ridiculous, we also wonder about the bigger picture: On being initially refused, clinic staff told me that I could get a walk-in test at one of their other locations in Lincoln Park. On asking how I should get there - without a car - they suggested I take public transport or a ride-share. After the test, however, I was given a leaflet from them saying that if I was showing ANY symptoms, I should avoid both public transport and ride-shares. Their messaging seems at best contradictory, at worse clinically dangerous in light of the pandemic. As I had indicated that I already had some symptoms, I could not get the immediate test and instead my test was sent to a lab. The results (negative) were communicated as promised about 5 days later, but... I ask myself what the whole point of the test had been! Yes, I self-isolated while awaiting the result, but I thought the whole point of testing was to facilitate contact tracing. Waiting almost a week between test and result would only seem to increase the likelihood of further unchecked and undetected transmission! All in all, this was a pretty frustrating experience with Physicians Immediate Care and, more importantly, does not give me ANY confidence that we are going to get a grip on this pandemic. read more

Seemed to ask all the right questions & did all the extensive testing for balance, coordination & vision tests. Ultimately erred on the side of caution & called ahead to a local hospital for further treatment which ended up being completely necessary (which they were expecting me upon arrival to expedite process. I was here 4 days ago and was diagnosed with a bacterial sinus infection and prescribed augmentin. 4 days later, I've not improved. I can barley hold my right eye open. The pain on my head is unbearable. I've barely slept a wink since last week. I came back today and had to pay a second $60 copay. They don't even have "follow up" visit costs. This upset me. I saw a different PA today who was far more kind and compassionate, she suggested an anti-inflammatory injection and a round of prednisone for suspected inflammation and severe sinus congestion. Hoping this does the trick. The nurse who administered it was generally cold with poor bedside manner. The other nurses in the office seemed more kind. I wish one of them assisted with me. I'm really disappointed I chose to come here over waiting at my doctor for walk-in help. I came here originally to be seen ASAP because the pain was excruciating. There are no actual MDs here, to my disappointment. I feel like a doctor should oversee PAs, no? I don't feel confident that I received the diagnosis and care that my current situation requires. Although today was better, it's unlikely I will ever return here. Update: chiropractor correctly diagnosed the issue as splenius capitis strain, which produces migrain and cluster headache symptoms that are severe. The first PA suggested momentarily that it may also be a muscle strain. I dismissed it as this doesn't feel like any muscle strain I've ever experienced in my life. She didn't press it further. Turns out that I didn't need antibiotics, just prednisone for the severe chest cold and a cortisone shot in the back of my neck. read more

I'm impressed. Things I really liked: FOLLOW-THROUGH. During my visit, the doctor (Dr. Fernando. Bow ties are cool.) addressed the immediate problem, then directed my next steps for the long-term solution. He consulted a colleague and reservied an appointment for me. I left with phone numbers and clear direction. I was seen by another doctor (also at an Immediate md) within 24 hours, and received follow-up phone calls and referrals to in-network (!) professionals. Immediate MD delivered effective action toward resolving an ongoing health issue for me. Also, their websites have a reservation feature and real-time wait monitor, so you don't have to hang out in a waiting room if the wait's long. read more

While I hope you, Dear Reader, never need to use Immediate MD, it's nice to know it's around, in case you ever (hypothetically, of course) face-plant on some concrete while running down a ramp to catch a train and end up breaking your nose. This may or may not have actually happened to me recently. (Spoiler alert 1: it did! Spoiler alert 2: I missed the train.) I wish I could blame this unfortunate incident on wearing heels, black ice, or drunkenness, in fact none of this was the case. I was wearing flats (and shoelaces were tied); it was a covered area in which I fell, and I was dead sober. So apparently I only have my own clumsiness to blame for this mishap. By the time I got home and was able to look at my mug in the mirror (I looked like I was on the losing end of a bar brawl), I knew it was pretty serious. I didn't think it necessarily warranted a trip to the ER, but my own PCP's office was closed, so what to do? First we ended up at a CVS Minute Clinic, but they weren't able to accept any more walk-ins due to closing before they could see me. After a quick Google search, we found Immediate MD. After being greeted warmly and compassionately, I was given paperwork to fill out. I waited only about ten minutes for them to see me. Ana, the nurse/technician, assessed my injuries and took my vitals, and then the doctor came in. I wish I could remember his name (I was a little out of it) because he was wonderful. He said that they can't really X-ray the nose area because there are too many other facial bones that get in the way for them to properly diagnose a nasal fracture. After looking me over, and determining there were no orbital bones broken and I was not leaking brain fluid (yay!), he suggested that I visit an ER for a CAT scan as that would be the only way to confirm that my nose was broken. (Immediate MD does not do CAT scans in case you're wondering.) My visit was short, but it did calm me down enough to know I wasn't going to die anytime soon. I received a follow-up call the next day to make sure I was still alive (or maybe it was really just to check and see how I was doing). Immediate MD is not the place to go for, say, a gunshot wound or a near-fatal stabbing, but it's ideal for non life-threatening issues that still may require immediate medical attention, and it's way faster and more personable than going to an ER. And perhaps most importantly, it's staffed by real MDs, and not only nurse practitioners. While I hope I never need to visit Immediate MD ever again, it's comforting to know it's there. read more
