Professional staff, easy location, casual, clean lobby. Scheduling went well, the technicians were communicative. BE SURE, however, to ask reception before you go back for your scan AND tell your technician you want the CD of your images ready when you leave the session. For some strange reason, this facility doesn't actually get that to the doctor who ordered your MRI. I've never heard of that. read more

Apparently this facility is not as accommodating as I had previously thought. When they make scheduling errors they blame the patients and offer arbitrary explanations for their logic. I had an appointment 1/17/17 at 10:30 am. I checked in at 10:35. The receptionist said that the appointment was at 10.15 and I was 30 minutes late. We went back and forth and I told her the voicemail said 10.30. She said there might be an 11 and another receptionist chimed in and said if she doesn't come between 10.45 and 11 you can have that appointment. I waited and went to the desk, it was 11.02 and someone walked in and checked in. I asked if I can still have the 11, she said that the appointment came and I can't. I asked why her previous statement did not apply and she remarked I didn't even have an appointment. Overall this was a very unnerving and unprofessional experience. If someone in their office makes an error they should own up to it instead of deflecting accountability. Hopefully Illinois Masonic will yield better experiences in the future. read more

This is my experience. The office staff are helpful and quick to respond. The issues I ran into, unfortunately, are with my MRI images. The MRI machine they put me into seemed incredibly old. Or, I had a poor MRI technician. Which might explain why 2 different doctors, after getting my scans, told me the images "weren't that good" and "were blurry." One also told me that the MRI report gave her no good information, which tells me whichever radiologist read my scans did not interpret them very well. I was being checked for a break or plantar fasciitis, and the interpreting radiologist (Patel) mentioned neither. I have concerns about going here again, as I need another scan and am worried it will be just as low-quality. Oh, and btw, I had to pay nearly $500 out of pocket. I'm not keen to spend $500 on images that don't help me or my doctors. read more

Check your bills carefully and involve your insurance company in disputes. DO NOT TRUST THE BILLING DEPARTMENT Horrible experience with Chicago Northside MRI. I got a bill from them. I phoned to clear it up, as my insurance was paying 100% of my bill (I met my maximum out-of-pocket And pre-checked with them). I phoned to clear it up and billing department was completely rude, dismissive, and condescending. I asked for a printed copy of the bill, since my insurance company informed me that one line item was given the wrong coding by this place and I dI'd not need to pay the amount shown. I tried to explain this to Chicago Northside MRI, but they did not want to listen to me or my insurance company. Insisting that I owed them a pretty significant amount. Once I got my printed bill (with a nasty passive aggressive note attached), I was able have my insurance company fully investigate. The error was finally corrected and my insurance company is now going to pay for the line item Chicago MRI Northside previously tried to charge me for (saying the insurance company denied, which was a lie). But, my insurance company also found they had overpaid Chicago Northside MRI. Now, Chicago Northside MRI owes my insurance company money (sweet revenge for being treated so poorly). Avoid this provider! They are dishonest about insurance pre-approvals, and unwilling to make price adjustments once that dishonesty is uncovered. My doctor called in an order for an MRI. which Chicago Northside MRI Center claimed was pre-approved when it was not, as they are out of network with my insurance provider. I only discovered this when I got a huge bill from Chicago Northside MRI and called my insurance company to find out how this happened. That's when I learned that Chicago Northside MRI had indeed called my insurance company -found out they were out of network - then called me back to tell me I had been pre-approved by that very same insurance company! When all this came to light the billing manager refused to adjust the bill, saying I had gotten the MRI so I had to pay, and that it was my responsibility to know Chicago MRI was out of network with my insurance provider; not their responsibility to tell me. The worst part is the dishonesty involved. Chicago MRI falsely told me I was pre-approved by my insurance company for an expensive test I couldn't have possibly been pre-approved for. given the circumstances. This is group to avoid at all costs. They'll lie to you about your insurance coverage just to get you in the door so they can give you an expensive test, then chase you down for a bill you wouldn't have had to pay if they hadn't lied to get your business in the first place. read more

Although I was able to quickly get an appointment, I would not recommend Chicago Northside MRI. 1. They did not read the imaging results quickly me which resulted in an unnecessary trip to the ER. 2. They did not transmit the images to my doctors which led to unnecessary additional imaging. 3. The person who did my imaging had terrible bedside manner. She looked incredibly scared when doing the images, then said I need to speak with a supervisor and just left me in the room. When she returned, she continued to worry me and said that she couldn't tell me what she saw but that I would hear from them very soon. Soon meant I received a frantic call from my doctor saying that Chicago Northside MRI saw something on the imaging that required immediate medical attention. They hadn't seen the images themselves but had to relay what the radiologist shared with them. Go somewhere else! read more

If your doctor tries to refer you here, FIND AN ALTERNATE. 1 - Day of, I walk in and am told my insurance declined the contrast for my scan, so I could only do it without contrast. Fine. (Told my doctor later and he was like "wut?") 2 - their bill payment website is a SCAM. I got the bill for my portion after insurance, and the bill pay website charges a 2% fee for debit or credit. Well, screw that I pay enough for health care in this hellscape as it is. I try flipping the payment method to e-check (which should NOT incur a 2% fee), and when I get to the amount due and amount to pay fields, the former clearly shows my billed amount of $69.71, but the latter says I can't submit an amount to pay that is less than $72.00. WTF? That is more even than a 2% surcharge. I wound up having a check mailed through my bank's billpay. They'll get it when they get it. read more

The staff has been excellent. And most good doctors in Chicago know to send their patients here for an MRI. Their radiologists are excellent. They have found or seen issues on my imaging that other doctors that have not seen. Also, many institutions, i.e. the Mayo Clinic, The Cleveland Clinic have asked for discs and the Northside has been very accommodating to provide me with those. Check with your insurance before you go for your MRI if they will cover it and also check if you have met your deductible, pre-authorization - on your own. read more

I had a very pleasant experience this morning. I had a CT scan for possible kidney stones. The actually took me in before my scheduled appointment. The technician was very concerned for the pain I was experiencing. She explained I can call for email results tomorrow. That the ordering doctor would see them first. I don't anticipate the billing problems that many reviewers here describe. read more

Horrible customer service! - The center only accepts walk-ins for x-rays. And it's only open on weekdays until 4 PM. I was told that if I should arrive no later than 3:40, so I made arrangements to leave work early and showed up at 3:40--only to be told that there was a one-hour wait for an x-ray. What?!? - There's no privacy at check-in. Anybody in the waiting area can overhear you. - I asked about the out-of-pocket cost for the x-ray, as well as the insurance deductible. I didn't want to pay a deductible if it was going to be higher than the out-of-pocket cost. I was told that I should follow up with the billing department. As it turns out, they automatically billed my insurance provider, and the deductible was 50% higher than the out-of-pocket cost. I told the billing department that I would ask my insurance company to deny the claim and just pay the out-of-pocket cost, and they said that if the insurance company denied the claim, I'd need to pay the entire insurance rate--which is more than three times the out-of-pocket cost--myself. My advice is to avoid this center at all costs. If the quality of imaging and radiology reports is anything like the customer service, then you can assume that it's bad. If you must go to this center, then try to get an actual appointment and tell them that you don't have insurance. See if you can pay the put-of-pocket cost with check or cash to avoid the 2% credit card/debit card processing fee. No point wasting your time and money! read more

BILLING DEPARTMENT IS A TRAINWRECK. I had an MRI where the billing department billed a different code to my insurance than what they had submitted for approval (three times). The billing lady refused to admit any fault. They then submitted the approved claim twice and when the duplicate was denied by my insurance billed me for the duplicate bill. I have tried getting the office manager to resolve this but he seems unaware how sloppy their billing department is. One of the most frustrating parts of this experience is that they insist that you as the consumer are required to pay even if they miscode or duplicate bills to your insurance company. The billing lady refused to call the provider line to my insurance company when asked. I would advise anyone to avoid this company at all costs as they don't cooperate well with insurance companies or you the consumer. If you unfortunately have already used them and are experiencing a billing issue. I would recommend filing a formal complaint against them with your insurance company. This will save you a lot of time on the phone with them and your insurance provider. I don't understand how the lady in billing still has a job. read more

I've been to this facility a number of times. Not only are they cheaper than any quote I've ever gotten from the hospital system, but Office Manager, Corey, goes above and beyond to assist in scheduling and insurance authorization. The techs are friendly and you get the images before you leave while you wait. read more

Totally disorganized and bad billing policies. After getting an x-ray here, I never recieved a bill. I assumed that my insurance covered the x-ray and didn't think twice about it. Then I got a collections notice. Northside MRI never attempted to contact me via other means before selling the debt to a collections agency. They claim that all 3 notices were mailed to my address, but I have recieved nothing. I don't know how a person is supposed to pay a bill that they did not recieve. Now I'm being punished with an additional fee to pay through the collection agent. The billing agent refused to take back the debt or waive the added fee, saying it's "not within their company policy" to do so. Will choose a different provider next time I need an x-ray. On top of it, the front desk people were unhelpful at my time of service and they obviously didn't want to be there. According to the billing person, I was supposed to be given the option to enroll in paperless billing, but I don't recall this being discussed. If it was, I would have signed up as opposed to paper billing. I live in an apartment building, and my mail gets misdelivered sometimes. There is nothing I can do about that. This is about bad internal policies and refusing to do the right thing for their patients. read more

Hey all! I was skeptical about visiting this place ; the reviews are somewhat telling. It is relatively easy to schedule appointments, which I appreciated so thanks for that. In regards to customer service, I had interaction with two girls. One named Vanessa, stone faced, not friendly, or welcoming at all. The other, long dark hair, glasses, and purple scrubs was even worse. I get it, though. Lots of patients busy times, etc. add to that people who aren't very friendly, and then machines malfunction, and since you are the face of the facility, people get angry and take it out on you... boy, that must suck! I, on the contrary, was nice, patient, and understanding. You, girl with the glasses, did not reciprocate my kindness. You were short and rude to me and the patients who walked in after me. Not cool! Dissimerly to you was the tech, Justin who was fantastic, explained everything, and thanked me for my patience. No prob, Justin! I like nice people, and because of this, I am willing to give Chicago Northside MRI a second chance. Three stars because of the bad customer service, but the tech definitely makes it worth it. read more

Let me tell you, I was nervous for an MRI. I injured my foot about 2 weeks ago and was debating whether I should do MRI. I read a lot online just to get ready and when I got there I must just say that all my worries disappeared. The receptionist, Jelicia was amazing and very kind. The tech, Christiana, made my experience the most stress free it could be. Everything was on time and I am thrilled that they have MRI services at this location. Per BCBS I hit my out of pocket max. I was told verbally I would have no charges. They billed me for the entire MRI. Due to Chicago Northside MRI's clerical error, BCBS did not cover it and confirmed they billed it incorrectly. They now refuse to resubmit the bill. See you in collections~ read more

They claim their average CT price is $258. Was quoted $500 today. Obviously which specific type of CT you need will affect the price. But with an advertised price of $258, there has to be some that cost significantly less than their "average". Not sure how that's possible read more

These people are the worst. Got the insurance wrong, waited 45 minutes for test with absolutely no communication as to why. Surly, unprofessional administration people with attitudes. Glass enclosures at the front desk impedes any level of normal communication. I sure hope the Radiologist is better than the support staff. Do not go there. read more

I would not recommend coming here. Poor customer service, even worse in billing department. Billing never answers their phone or returns voicemails. Has also messed up bills multiple times, sending late and revised statements with no explanation, including "final notice" statements (twice) when original bills were never received. They also demand 2% processing fees if using cards, INCLUDING HSA debit. read more

Terrible customer service and an even worse person at billing. They did a procedure without getting pre approval. Turned out what they did was experimental. I made a mistake by paying them while my insurance was reviewing the appeal. In the end they billed me a retail rate of $954 for a procedure that would have been $100-300 per insurance rates. Never going to them again. They are not in it to help customers. They are just in it for the money. Go to other places like SimonMed. I got much better service from them. read more

I had a fine experience with the MRI, they were timely and professional and the facility was clean and comfortable (as comfortable as an MRI can be). My issue is that they sent my bill to collections after only 3 months. I generally maintain very good credit, but little random medical bills can get tricky to keep track of, and three months is a ridiculously short time to throw someone in collections for a modest medical bill. I know this is a business and has to maintain a bottom line, but 3 months just feels too predatory for unplanned health care expenses. read more

I was a bit skeptical given the one star reviews, but glad I gave it a chance. The front desk staff was polite and friendly. The woman doing my ultrasounds was SO NICE and supportive. Her demeanor was very genuinely nice and friendly which was comforting. I was in and out in about 30-45 mins. I havent experienced billing yet so I'll see how that goes read more

Communication, communication,communication! The plexiglass walls went up, and the communication went away! Be ready to sit, sit, sit and watch the paint peel! Actually they need to paint, Each insured patient is 1000. Never show up as scheduled-you still get to sit for and hour plus. When bored or had enough-approach counter, they will eventually see you. Point out the fact that you have been sitting for over an hour, girl will look at other puzzled, you will think to self do I need to wait 2 hours? The girls will check to see what is going on........ Hummmmm the machine is not working. You will think to yourself..... ok! ask "and what am I to do? " Blank stares, like this is the first time the machine has an issue......Walk away, or melt down of client will begin. Say nothing, as no one cares. Call scheduling to find out what is status- you will get standard response, we are looking into it. Trust me-they have known for over an hour, the machine is acting up. You will be told it stopped with a patient in the box, they are trying to reboot and are placing a call for the GE tech. Do not ask -decide if it is time to cut losses and walk away. Good thing you had the parking validated 1st thing-get the heck out of there, as soon as you leave the parking lot and drive to Division, they will call to announce the machine is working again. Toooooo late. Waste of day off, move on.......They don't care. After writing this review, I decide to look at their reviews.......... 1 positive review in 2 years. Good Luck! read more

Needed a CT Scan of my facial bones for preop clearance. This place accepts insurance and credit cards. I never realized that getting a scan would be so involved. Apparently the paperwork must be exact for the approval, although I'm not sure if that's for insurance or another reason. They worked it out for me. Honestly the challenge was that the order was from an out of state doctor. I really liked this place. Procedure took about two minutes and I left with disc in hand. The ladies out front and the examiner were all very nice. Very nice people, but the disc contains proprietary software that must be installed to view the images. No flat files that you can send to your doctor. I will possibly be required to reschedule my surgery and lose a percentage of the facility scheduling fee. Not happy. :-( read more

My experience here was absolutely horrible. The sheet on the mri table had stains all over. When I asked the tech about it and if they had been changed, he went ballistic saying that the sheets are laundered by a service and he's not responsible if there is a stain. He said that he was offended that I would even ask if they were clean. I noted that there is a global pandemic going on and that I simply wanted to be extra diligent about cleanliness. At this point he began to patronize me & mansplain to me how COVID is spread - "Are you aware they hot water kills COVID?" I almost left after that situation but I knew it would be difficult to get another appointment so I stayed. Then during the MRI, I was given no instructions or timeline for when the imaging sessions would be done, how many were left, etc. I was never once asked if I was okay or checked on. I recommend that everyone avoid this facility if at all possible. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

The billing department is the absolute worst. They got prior authorization from my insurance for a CT scan and then when they went to bill my insurance, they submitted the wrong procedure code. Obviously it was denied. When I called the billing department to ask why they had submitted a claim for the wrong procedure (assuming it was a typo), the woman there straight up lied to me and tried to tell me that no, nothing was wrong, and that I was going to be personally on the hook for the $1400 charge. read more

Wow. Beware. My insurance company had this as an approved vendor, so I called and scheduled the appointment. Had my MRI. Waited about an hour before I was seen and it was done past my appointment time. The tech when inputting the contrast blew up my veins twice. I asked for a blanket on my feet as it was freezing inside - was told no. More importantly, there was a pre-approved procedure per my insurance, which matched what my doctor said. They (MRI place) did billed my insurance for something different and obviously it wouldn't get paid. I spoke with so many people there in billing and front office, who in 6 months were unable to rebill my insurance properly. Then they handed it off to a debt collector, even though I repeatedly asked for them to work with my insurance - and my bill doubled. This was a horrible experience, I paid TRIPLE what was initially quoted to me. Do youself a favor. I know they seem fancy and efficient, but do it at a hospital; someone who will at least try to help you after you've had the procedure done. read more

Can't say enough good things about this place. Accommodating, clean, professional. Needed an MRI. Had been struggling just to schedule one with all the crap others insist on collecting before even looking at a schedule. Took me in the following day after my call in the evening. I cleared reception easily, was escorted back to a changing area with lockers, had the procedure, got dressed and left happy as a clam. Every place that offers these types of procedures should be as expeditious, courteous, accommodating and professional as this place. read more

I was surprised that they have someone like this on staff for what could be a very anxious and vulnerable experience for many people. Completely unacceptable. I will never return to this facility. I was sent to this place from my Dr's office which is 1 floor up in the same building. You would think this would make for faster service, think again. I had a Low Dose CT Scan on October 30, 2019. As of this review my Dr. upstairs has not received a report from this group. I have never received such lousy service with an MRI Scans. How could it take 34 days for a report? I cannot recommend this company for anyone. read more

Worst MRI experience in the 11 years I've been getting MRI's. The tech performing the MRI was awful. I have MS the tech offered no assistance getting off the table. The front desk was not helpful said I missed my appt. The error was theirs I would never make multiple appointments. I get everything done in one appt. I will never come back here! read more

Made an appointment for 11:15 A.M last Wednesday 6/28 for a cervical spine MRI for searing nerve pain in my upper back. Asked in advance about how long it would take so I could schedule the time with work. Was told it only takes about 35 minutes in total. Arrived early to fill out necessary paperwork and sat for over an hour before MRI began which made me late coming back to work. Staff told me they would deliver my MRI results to my doctor that afternoon. Over a week and a half later and they STILL have not delivered my test results. I had to physically deliver them myself. I am in incredible amounts of pain and have needed these test results so that my Doctor can prescribe a course of treatment. A week and a half later with little to no care or attention is egregious to say the least. I just walked my test results over to my doctor myself. I cannot describe how absolutely frustrated and upset I am at this facility for their inability to get critical test results to my doctor, thereby leaving me in pain for over a week and a half. read more
