I was looking for a place not to far away where I could a quick walk in to get a B12 shot. My BFF recommended this location and I am glad she did. They are located right off of Ashland, which had me worried about parking, but rest assure, they have their own lot behind the building on School Street. This is my first time going to an urgent care center, so I was not sure what to expect. I had a 8:00 am appointment and low and behold, they were on time opening up. Making the appointment was a little confusing on the website. There is a button that says "Check-In", which I thought was to do an early check-in for an established appointment. However this is the button to use to actually schedule an appointment. The main waiting room was clean and nicely lit, with a lot of natural light and comfortable chairs. There was a coffee machine so you could make a cup of coffee. Since it was my first time there, I had to fill our paperwork. They did take my insurance card and I had to give them my Visa card for any possible payments not covered by insurance. I had to sign a document to authorize use of my card. There were two options: limit payment not to exceed $150 or pay in full. I opted for $150. When I asked for a copy of the form for my records and the receptionist made a copy for me with no problem. The room where I was shown to for the shot was clean. The nurse who was administering the shot had a nice bedside manner and was pleasant to talk with. The whole experience took maybe 30 min from the time I walked in to leaving. So I will be returning here again to get my follow-up B12 shot.

The receptionist is very nice and friendly. Ut you expect a real services from the clinic. On their website they say they have an ultrasound. We've got the appointment and went there, but this was not a real appointment, it was the appointment to get the appointment. We have checked if they have this specific type of service and got a real appointment next day. But during our next visit they said they have no such kind of service in their clinic. This is super unprofessional.

I'm going to summarize my experience with MEC and and let anyone who reads this come to their own…read moreconclusion as to whether this company provides sufficient or professional medical care to their patients. I rolled my ankle pretty badly and there was severe swelling and pain, so I went into the Lakeview East location to be assessed for severity and be given a treatment plan. When I was first seen, the physician's demeanor was fine / neutral, but also nothing that particularly instilled confidence in me that they were actively dedicated to do their best to diagnose and treat my injury. He prodded my ankle a bit but didn't verbalize what he was or wasn't seeing, then ultimately said "I mean there's no way to rule out whether there's a break unless we do an x-ray, but that's up to you". Despite the fact that this wasn't a particularly prescriptive pov, out of caution I agreed to do the x-ray. I also had to ask what degree of mobility I should aim for in the meantime as I am an active person and he said "do what you can, but don't try to run a marathon or anything". This was confusing to me as he suspected a potential break, yet told me it was okay for me to attempt activity. When he offered to wrap my ankle with an ACE wrap, I asked if there were any particular things I should know on how to wrap an ankle and he said "no, not really". Mind you, I am not a medical professional, but I have enough common sense to know that all of these responses were extremely non-chalant and not in the best interest of my medical care. After getting my x-rays done, the technician said the radiologist should have them back to the physician who saw me in an hour and he'll call me with the results and give me next steps. This was at 9am, and I didn't hear from them all day. I called back at 5pm knowing they closed at 6pm, and they said "oh oops, he hasn't had a chance to look at them yet but he'll take a look and call you before he leaves for the day", but they never called. The next morning I called and asked for my x-ray results, where the person who answered the phone was able to immediately look at my chart and tell me I had broken my ankle and would need to be in a boot for 4-6 weeks. They offered nothing further, as though that was the end of the conversation. I was pretty shocked at their lack of providing guidance as to how I go about treating this. I had to proactively ask them if they were able to provide a boot, if they would be sending me a recap of the xray findings. She then agreed that I could come in and be fitted for a boot. When I came in, all she said to me was "you'll need to wear this for 4-6 weeks and then come back for a follow up xray so we can see if it's healed". Again, I was pretty frustrated by the lack of medical guidance. I had to ask how long throughout the day I should wear the boot, and if I should be seeing any other rehab doctors in the meantime as I have a friend who's a Doctor of Physical Therapy who recommended I see an Orthopedic doctor for further assessment. The physician responds "I mean, there's not much you can do right now so it won't help much". I then requested if I could get a copy of my x-ray scans. She told me that their location didn't have an x-ray technician in, and I needed to talk to the front desk to see when they would be in next. After speaking to the girl at the front desk, she told me they were unable to share the files digitally and that the x-ray tech at a different location would need to download them onto a USB port. She said I could go to Wicker Park as they had an x-ray tech that day. So I drive over, and when I tell the guy at the front desk he makes a confused face and says "well...I don't know why they would tell you that, but we can put it on a CD for you?". At this point, his demeanor was suggesting it was weird that I would even want to see my x-ray scans in the first place. I asked if there was no way to send them digitally, and he said no. Mind you, I had a chest x-ray done by them three years ago and they shared the scans digitally. He then says "they could have burned the CD for you, so I really don't know why they sent you here. If you want the scans, it'll take 15 minutes." So I said something was better than nothing and waited for the CD, and when the technician came out they just handed me the disc and walked away. So....if that is the level of care and medical professionalism you are looking for, go ahead and get treated by Midwest Express.

I was apprehensive on how I would be treated because of who I am. I wish every doctor's office, emergency room and psychologist could take a lesson from the staff here. I began transitioning from FtoM a year ago and it's been tough to have my pronouns, needs or my symptoms taken seriously. I often feel dismissed before the dr even sees me. Since I don't appear male presenting yet I know it causes confusion. I have anxiety because of it when it comes to situations with medical establishments. I've had many visits that I have been treated poorly and misgendered. Physicians immediate care has changed my outlook on healthcare and I'm very thankful. The front desk person Lynzey is an outstanding person! When they were taking my information for the registration, they double checked with me on how I would like to be addressed and the pronouns that I use. They also asked if I have a chosen name beside my birth name I want to use. My ID states male but the registration asks you to choose between male or female for "sex at birth", I had to choose female. This is why I was asked in private for the pronouns and chosen name. No one has ever thought to ask me this in any medical setting. Lynzey explained that the staff will be compassionate to my needs and not to worry, that they only want me to feel better and it's ok to be honest. \They also made sure to give me information for lgbtqia+ centers for outreach and medical care. This is the first medical office where I could be myself and not feel like an alien! The nurses and DR are just as tremendous too and answered all my questions. I didn't feel like I had to hide anything. I have recommended this clinic to anyone I know. Several of my friends have had the exact same experience with the staff, which makes me so so happy. If you are like me and scared to go the dr's office because you will be misgendered or neglected, give physicians immediate care a shot! Thank you Lynzey for everything you did. You have made a big impact on myself and 2 of my friends. I wish there were more people like you in the world.

The front desk intake process was awful; the receptionist was so cold, and they make you do the check in with an ipad while you're sitting there coughing. The nurse was nicer. She suggested that since I reported sore throat I should also be checked for strep; I agreed. I didn't ask how much this would be; but since I had insurance I assumed I'd pay some money as I haven't met my deductible. A young doctor read my tests results and I was out quickly. In and out less than 1 hour total. But after insurance paid, the patient's responsibility is close to $300. Lesson learned, ask costs up front, I guess? I feel terrible saying this but if you're in a similar position, save yourself some money and don't get tested, or look elsewhere for more affordable testing.

The nurse practitioner entered the room and discussed the screening tests she would order. My spouse requested a rectal swab. The nurse practitioner did not even offer the test, a standard test for gay male health. Then the nurse practitioner stated that she does not perform rectal swabs; the patient can do so themselves. My spouse stated he had been asked to perform his own rectal swab the last time he visited and didn't believe he did it competently. The nurse practitioner did not reply. An assistant, a CNA(?), entered the room to perform a COVID test and a throat swab. She asked my spouse to do his own rectal swab. He restated that he didn't feel competent. The assistant turned to me and asked, "Would you do it?" To which I replied, "I am not a licensed healthcare professional." She exited the room. The nurse practitioner re-entered the room and performed the rectal swab. If we hadn't challenged the nurse practitioner or the assistant, poor-quality healthcare delivery would have continued. Northwestern Immediate Care Lakeview demonstrated unprofessionalism and medical incompetence. Don't go there! ADDENDUM 1: 2/3/26 I called a patient advocate on Friday, 1/30/26. They took my information, which I wrote about in my previous Yelp post dated 1/30/26. The representative assured me I would receive a call in 2 business days. Today, 2/3, I called to inquire about my callback. The representative reported that there was no record of my call on 1/30/26. She asked what I was calling about today. I reported two issues. 1. There was no record of my call on 1/30/26, and I question the department's competence. 2. The original reason I called, which is in my post from 1/30/26, is about Northwestern Immediate Care Lakeview medical incompetence. Northwestern advertises the following as its mission: "At Northwestern Medicine, our mission is to put patients first in all that we do. Each day, we work toward this goal by providing excellent and safe care. To provide the best possible experience for our patients, we focus on transparency and value." That's not anything like my experience.
