You can reserve a spot online (which is not an appointment time, but reduces your waiting time in the lobby.) I like these things. Let's talk about the providers. They're thorough and really nice. I came in as a walk-in, and the receptionist asked me to wait because there were other patients ahead of me. After waiting for about 15 minutes, another walk-in arrived and was allowed to check in before me. The receptionist never called me to check in and instead assisted the person who arrived after I did. It was frustrating to be overlooked after waiting my turn. read more

I made an appt at 6pm for my very sick 3 year old, completed the paper work online, checked in early at the front desk. The dusty lobby was basically empty save for one other family. Around 6:20, myself and the other family went to the front desk to see how much longer it would be, the receptionist was not even there. Eventually she finally deigned to show up and let us know it'd be another 40 minutes, which, when you have a sick 3 year old, is an eternity. What is the point of making a 6pm appointment if they can't get you in till 7pm? And is there even anyone working there? It was SILENT and not a single person was called back in the entire 30 minutes we sat there. I rarely write reviews but I'm so unsettled by this experience, I'm not convinced this place is even legitimately staffed, strongly recommend finding an alternative if you value the "urgent" in urgent care. read more

Had a pleasant experience here but what was not pleasant was getting sent to collections for a mystery $30. Did I receive a bill, call, or mail for this? Nope. Has it been a year since this I visited and I was just now notified thanks to credit karma? Yup! My insurance successfully received and paid a $162 bill-no mention of $30 anywhere. The visit shows as 'complete' payment wise for Midwest Express Clinic Website? Shows I owe $0. Insanely unprofessional and has ruined my week and dented my credit that I've been working tirelessly to build. I was looking for a place not to far away where I could a quick walk in to get a B12 shot. My BFF recommended this location and I am glad she did. They are located right off of Ashland, which had me worried about parking, but rest assure, they have their own lot behind the building on School Street. This is my first time going to an urgent care center, so I was not sure what to expect. I had a 8:00 am appointment and low and behold, they were on time opening up. Making the appointment was a little confusing on the website. There is a button that says "Check-In", which I thought was to do an early check-in for an established appointment. However this is the button to use to actually schedule an appointment. The main waiting room was clean and nicely lit, with a lot of natural light and comfortable chairs. There was a coffee machine so you could make a cup of coffee. Since it was my first time there, I had to fill our paperwork. They did take my insurance card and I had to give them my Visa card for any possible payments not covered by insurance. I had to sign a document to authorize use of my card. There were two options: limit payment not to exceed $150 or pay in full. I opted for $150. When I asked for a copy of the form for my records and the receptionist made a copy for me with no problem. The room where I was shown to for the shot was clean. The nurse who was administering the shot had a nice bedside manner and was pleasant to talk with. The whole experience took maybe 30 min from the time I walked in to leaving. So I will be returning here again to get my follow-up B12 shot. read more

Went in on Tuesday tested positive for Covid, doc said to call or come back in if symptoms such as sore throat or stuffy nose/congestion appear in case there was a bacterial infection. I called today around noon for sinus congestion the lady said the doctor would call in a prescription to the pharmacy said to call back if it didn't get to the pharmacy, so I did around 3pm and again at 6pm for them to tell me I can just get over the counter meds .... I saw a male practicioner here who gave me a wrist splint and diagnosed me with tendonitis. Told me to wear wrist splint at night. A month later no improvement. I then went to a different Midwest Express and was told I needed a thumb splint and had trigger thumb to wear the splint during the day. I was given wrong diagnosis and treatment at this Midwest Express clinic. Later found out this practitioner was fired for his social media posts. Disappointed to find out this practice doesn't care if the practitioner gives proper care. They keep their job when they do that but if they post something online in their free time expressing a personal opinion of theirs they lose their job. To be clear I don't think this man should have lost his job for misdiagnosing me but it's disheartening to learn he was fired for nothing pertaining to his job performance. Surprisingly great experience! I always dread going to clinics because they are packed but I had an outstanding experience here. I originally went to the CVS minute clinic down the street and they were about to take a two hour lunch break and had a bad attitude that we would even bother to ask to be seen at a *clinic.* I left and came to Midwest Express and it was the complete opposite! They greeted me immediately with very friendly staff, I was seen in less than 10 minutes, and I was out in less than an hour overall. read more

I had an amazing experience here. Because of a nagging issue with my foot, I finally agreed to get care. Everyone told me to bring a book and be ready to wait. The receptionist couldn't be nicer. The waiting area was comfortable. And I hardly waited at all. The care I received was top notch, from the vitals collection to the actual procedure, which was borderline surgery. The doctor took one look at my little cut and knew the problem immediately. (I had a rock lodged in there.) I couldn't be happier with the people and my experience there. (Granted, I haven't seen yet what my insurance will cover, but, you know, that's the American healthcare system.) read more

Do not go to this clinic! The doctors are fine. But the billing department miscodes visits and then sends made-up bills six months later. I've spent hours on the phone contesting, back and forth between insurance and Midwest's billing department. They refuse to change the coding, even when I have an insurance agent participating in the call. Taking your kid to urgent care with a sore throat should not result in hours of phone calls. And it should not result in a $150 bill when your insurance plan says urgent care visits are $20. read more

I was not able to walk on my foot and didn't want to go to an ER, so I made an appointment (which they inform you that it doesn't really hold a spot -which I am fine with). I hobbled in and was immediately greeted and all my info was verified. I saw a doctor/med professional quickly and within less than 10 minutes had an X-ray of my foot. They gave me a plan to fix the issue and told me my next steps if it wasn't resolved. Everyone there was extremely professional, pleasant, and efficient. I would highly recommend this place if you do not have a life threatening health issue/can not see your primary care physician. Very impressed. read more

Waited nearly 2 hrs to be seen only to be told to take OTC meds as the pharmacies nearby had already closed so they wouldn't be able to get the prescription filled in time. I'm not going to be in the area the following days so I will not receive the prescription unless the pharmacy does the filling first thing in the morning. It's nearby and the staff at the clinic was helpful and fine although it took multiple visits to resolve my issue. The main compliant I have is with their billing department. I received a bill for both visits (close to $300) which I paid in full. They then charged my credit card an additional $150 with no explanation. After an extremely long hold, I was told the payment I made was split across the two visits and I still owed close to another $200. We went back and forth as I explained the bill I had showed both visits and I was unclear what they were referring to. They confirmed that that hadn't sent me any other bills, but were happy to send me another bill. Tl;dr - they send bills, you pay them in full and they continue to charge your credit card with no explanation as to why there is a difference. read more

We took our 6 month old to the practice - the visit with the doctor lasted 5 minutes where they asked us to go to the ER. All good so far - courteous staff and all. the fun starts when we get the bill. They use a diagnosis code ( which insurance companies use to determine the cost) for a complex visit of 90 minutes. Been in touch with their office and nobody can explain why they charged us for care we didn't receive. Seems like fraudulent billing. read more

After my husband had a fun run in with a knife while meal prepping, MedSpring really exceeded our expectations. We hopped in around 7:00pm on a Sunday night, and the wait time was 0 minutes. They quickly had him in the back, filling out paperwork, cleaning out the wound, administering a tetanus shot, and deciding on glue vs stitches. They let you know the max they can charge here after running your insurance, so that's good to note if price is a primary concern. All of the doctors and techs we interacted with were absolutely wonderful, they sent us home with all of the sterile gauze, gloves, wraps, etc to care for it after leaving, and followed up with us within a couple of days to ensure there was no infection. Seeing as I've had a horrible experience at another urgent care when I went in recently, I can say with confidence that MedSpring is far superior and definitely worth it! I came in a week and a half ago with a nightmare bladder/kidney infection that I let go for too long while traveling out of country. I was promptly seen with extremely minimal wait times every time I came in. When my back pain didn't fully go away after a few days on antibiotics, I came back in, worried. There was a chance I would have to get a shot this time if the oral meds were not working well enough. I have a needle phobia, a *for real* phobia, where I pass out/faint. Needles are just.. absolutely terrifying for me. I am 30 years old and test the patience of any doctor I work with because I'm so hysterical and hyperventilate etc. Michael Cecchetto was so freaking kind and patient with me, he did everything he could to make me comfortable and was never for one second judgmental or curt with me as I explained my fears. I didn't wind up needing the shot because he was spot on about my back pain being a pulled muscle, but I really wanted to drop a 5 star review for him especially but all of the staff. Received an email regarding my portion of the bill. It stated I had 5 days to pay or it would be deducted from my bank account via my debit card ( they make you leave your card info.). I paid it the next day And they sent a receipt. Today they charged my account again. I called billing to get this straightened out And I asked the customer service representative "Why does the email say I have 5 days to pay when you guys already had it computer generated to take it out any? I'm guess they hope the customer never notices and that way they can double dip. Heads up people check your statements. read more

This is an outstanding urgent care with phenomenal doctors, nurses, & medical assistants. I honestly feel blessed this location takes my insurance! I've visited for numerous reasons including covid testing, emergency care after an injury, and just feeling unwell. Each and every time I was greeted by kind and respectful staff who make you feel at ease and welcomed. I am blown away by the cleanliness of the facility and caliber of the medical staff. All procedures I've done including blood draws have been totally painless and smooth. Not to mention I've never waited more than 2 minutes to be seen by a nurse. The doctors really take the time to listen. They provide actionable solutions including testing and medication to treat many different scenarios. Honestly, they provide more on site services than my PCP so I almost always up coming here anyway. Thank you for being here when I need you! The sacrifices medical staff are making being on the front lines are not going unnoticed. The clinic staff was great, and the in person part was fine. The rest, not so much. I went for COVID testing on 5/4 as I woke up with a fever. It was relatively easy, I waited probably 20 minutes. The staff was nice and I liked the PA. I was told I'd get results in 3-4 days. Day 4 and I call the clinic mid afternoon because I hadn't heard anything. I was told I had a follow up appointment scheduled for the 12th. Never mentioned that in person. I was told I'd receive a link and I'd chat with a provider regarding the result. the results weren't in, and suddenly 3-4 days turns into 8?? I ended up speaking with a patient advocate, Melinda Anderson, said she'd get to the bottom of it, make sure I was a priority, etc...even gave me her personal number and said to call her should I not have results by the following day. I didn't, so I called her. Received her voicemail, left a message. Never got a call back. They use quest so I signed up for a MyQuest account to receive the results ASAP. Called Sunday 5/10 and was told still no results, but to call before they closed by Julie (really the only helpful person I interacted with). I called and no results, but she spoke with Quest and they should have results by the next day. I received an email from Quest Monday morning and my results were available. Didn't receive a call from the clinic all day. Tuesday afternoon 5/12 I get a text with the link to speak with a provider. Sounds interesting, but they say it can take 20-30 mins for the provider to come on. The interaction was brief, but fine. Clinic staff was nice, Julie was helpful. I would not return though. There are many urgent cares in the Chicagoland area, this experience just gave me a headache and I'd rather go elsewhere. read more

WORST billing process ever. I had a COVID test done and they told me I would receive billing in the mail. I moved so I paid for my mail to be forwarded to me for 1 year. I NEVER received a bill in the mail or online, they have no billing portal only the ability to pay for a bill where you punch in the amount you owe, zero connection to an account. HORRIBLE insecure system do not give these people your money. My bill went into collections and that's how i finally found out about it, great job in being a garbage company! read more

Beware of their billing. I went there for covid test. I received a bill stating what I owe and what was covered by insurance. It seemed high but I paid. Turned out, I gave them the wrong insurance and instead of asking me for the right one when that didn't go through, the sent a bill that my non existent insurance covered a portion and I was responsible for the rest. I paid basically out of pocket for something that should have been covered because they lied. When I called the billing department, I asked what insurance did you guys bill?? They couldn't answers and my insurance talked to them and asked them to resend the claim but they never did. They scam their patients so beware. There are other places to go to. After waiting 15 minutes to get in, I waited another 30 minutes in the patient room by myself waiting for the provider. I never heard back about my strep test from over a week ago, which is pointless now anyways. I also didn't like that they require you to put your credit card on file up front, but don't tell you how much they will charge you after your visit. Go in for an annual physical and get lab tests done, get a follow up to come pick up the paper work, was handed paperwork and walk out of the clinic 5 minutes later and am being charged $80 to do so and was told it "was their policy to charge you whenever you come in the door". Have called customer service 6 times to file a complaint, all 6 times have heard nothing back and they have just sent the same bill to me every time. Everyone was friendly and helpful when I got to the office and I was diagnosed quickly which was great because I felt awfully sick. I was prescribed medication and was told it would be ready within 20 minutes. This is when the problems started. The pharmacy didn't have my meds ready and never got the script. I called MECRV and asked them to send it over to a pharmacy closer to home instead since I waited 30 minutes and was extremely fatigued. 6 hours later I call my pharmacy and they didn't have the script. I call MECRV again and they assure me they will send it over. I call my pharmacy 2 hours later and they don't have it. I call the pharmacy the next morning and they don't have it. I call MECRV a 4th time and after being firm with my frustration they send the script. After a day of rest and the help of the meds I realized there was either a mistake with the amount of meds I received or the directions and needed clarification. I call MECRV again and Jessica was not so friendly but I was transferred to Lucy who was helpful and helped me understand. No one should not have had to call 4 times to get their script sent to the pharmacy especially when you are extremely ill and NEED medication ASAP. The hostility and lack of understanding from Jessica was also not helpful. read more

Amazing office with awesome service. I loved the cleanliness of the location and they give you free snacks/drinks while you wait for your appointment. I came in June because I needed to have proof of a flu shot (yes, I know I'm about 8 months late) before I started my rotations. I called up a bunch of MedSpring Urgent Care's because I was told some still have it. This was the fourth location I called and they had it. I went right over, filled out the paperwork, got my shot, and was out in about 15 minutes. Parking is for free in the back. read more

Beware of predatory charges!!! My biggest regret is not checking the reviews before going to see how many other people have had billing and service issues here. I went in for a pre-employment physical and no one knew what that even entailed. I had to direct them what was required and they somehow talked me into getting a TB test for an additional charge. I paid that charge with my visit charge at the time of service, as their policy states, but received a final notice a month later that I owed for the TB test that I had already paid for. This letter was undated but said I only had 10 days to dispute the charge. Without any date on the letter, there was no way to know what date the 10 day period even started. After confirming through my bank that the charge went through, I called to clear it up and was on hold for over 30 minutes. Then I was told that I wouldn't have any resolution for 7-10 business days. It seems like between the, undated letter, the excessive hold time, and the 2 week waiting period to get any answers that this is a business with predatory practices. Clearly they hope that they can just leave you hanging until time runs out and you're on the hook for a double charge for one service. Stay away, especially if you're uninsured and tight on cash. They practically turn you upside down and shake the money out of your pockets, whether it's owed or not read more

If customer service, long wait times, and billing issues are something you're not interested in dealing with than run the other way fast. After confirming this facility does Covid testing with a 4-6 day turn around time and venturing over there, boy did I make a mistake. I was given original instructions to call when I parked and they would come out. I called 5 times when I parked (15 minutes after initial call and only 1 other car in lot) and either got hung up on or put on hold and then hung up on. The final time I called I was able to advise I was waiting and within a few minutes someone would be sent outside. 30 minutes later I was confirmed forgotten about and the nurse who I flagged down laughed as if it was funny to waste my entire day. I called my insurance prior and confirmed I had 0 copay related to Covid and could test in network for free. After telling Midwest this, they still charged me WITHOUT my authorization! They said they were holding my card on file in case insurance did not cover but instead ran it immediately! I called multiple times to reverse this, even after my EOB was sent to show insurance covered. Took a month and 20+ phone calls with no one calling me back as promised. No management ever seems to be working and onsite staff seems to lack knowledge and are not helpful. This place also took over 14 days to release my Covid results after I was told 4-6! I understand labs are backed up but lack of communication and incorrect info is very misleading. I would highly advise looking elsewhere for your urgent care needs. read more

I've now been told by "Crystal" that I can't possibly be positive because the State would have notified me within 72 hours of my test, to which no one can verify. I am reporting this to respective authorities, including Chicago and State health departments. There was no manager on-site today and just a bunch of unprofessional arguers who talked over me, complained when I cut them from interrupting me, kept giving me misinformation, refused to get me to a manager. This isn't a medical facility in my opinion as much as it's a Dollar Store, just much more expensive. Stay safe and healthy by not going here If you want to hear some scary stuff, I'm curious how this place even constitutes real medicine. Dr. Golsa Shahkar is listed as the doctor in most Chicago locations...how can she be at more than one place at once? Which must mean that most of the times, there can't be an actual MD onsite. Even scarier, her MD is from the Saba University School of medicine, a Carribean medical school not ranked by any reputable source I can find, and doesn't require an undergraduate degree to get into. If this doesn't help you clearly see that this is a profit maximization scheme over a quality of care place then you deserve what you get. -----------original review---------------------- Alex has to be the worst service provider I know. So I went for a COVID test on 6/27/20. They did take me despite a crowd and no appointment. I would've given them 5 stars. The nurse practitioner was kind and clear. She did say the lab was backed up and it could be 3-8 days to get results. Why don't you use multiple/other labs? She didn't know. Wasn't her responsibility to know. All good. HOWEVER, they claimed because the lab was backed up they were EVEN LATER in getting results. Here I am on 7/7 with no results. Now they're telling me the lab's systems have been down all day and I still can't get the result. We're in the middle of a pandemic and they're using lab's that can't spit results out for almost 2 weeks? And worse, the horrendous, inconsiderate, terrible, awful, unapologetic attitude of Alex just reaffirms why I ALWAYS should wait the extra day if needed and just go to Northwestern's immediate care at 1333 w Belmont to work with true medical professionals. read more
