Should be renamed intermediate care. Last time I was here I called first and was told they could draw look for labs. When I came in, they told me they could only if they had someone on staff qualified and they didn't that day. Sent me to the Anderson location after calling ahead on my behalf. The location was the worst, they had me wait in the lobby brought me back and then told me they also didn't have anyone the person who was qualified when I was waiting left. Then they released my records so I had to recontact my doctor and wait two days until I could have the test done. I waited a few weeks and came back today to the Open 7 Days a week Northcenter and it's locked tight. I'm done with North Shore and their horrid lab system in the city of Chicago. This review is specifically for the Andersonville location where I had a similar experience like others have said here. I cut my palm very deep while working yesterday, it was about an inch long and I ended up needing 5 stitches. I arrived to the Andersonville location with a bundle of paper towels cramped against my hand as the wound hadn't stopped bleeding for over 30 minutes. There was nobody anywhere, not even the front desk, and the place felt bland and negative. Somebody finally came in to the front room and asked if we had an appointment? I'm sorry, I thought this was an URGENT care??? She proceeds to say they're appointment only and mentioned it was lunch hour.... i'm still bleeding out, mind you. So she seems annoyed by me being there at all, and tells me there's an appointment available an hour later at a location 2 miles away. My very kind friend drove me there, but imagine if I had to have bought an uber to get there, or walked 2 miles with my hand still open and bleeding? But you're annoyed with me??? She didn't make the appointment obviously, but she got my info to make my account so that I could do it myself. That was easy, and she could've just told me that to begin with. But instead she made excuses as to why I couldn't be seen, and shooed me away to go somewhere else. I completely understand needing a lunch break. I cut my hand during a lunch rush and completely panicked as it's never happened to me before, i'm not a klutz, nor an idiot. No thanks to this person, I was still somehow able to manage mentally, and had my friends' support to get me help. The location I went to in Lakeview East, however, was beautiful, fast, efficient and kind. The doctor who saw me was sweet and had great bed side manner. I highly recommend going to this location instead, as they seemed happily staffed and ready to accommodate people. Not sure if they turn people away in the same way though! tldr: A facility that only takes appointments is not an Urgent Care. read more

This is specifically a review for the Andersonville location. Don't go here. I came in for a routine UTI exam to make sure everything was ok. They turned me away. The receptionist literally told me the Provider would not see me because I had been seen a few times prior in the last month. It is not my fault that I have UTI symptoms and I am still in the process of waiting my for my appointment with my urologist. In the interim, if I'm having symptoms of a UTI, it is their duty to make sure I don't have life threatening UTI. The fact that they turned me away shows gross negligence and utter dis compassion. I was in pain, burst into tears, had an anxiety attack had to quickly find another immediate care outside my insurance which was severely inconvenient and traumatic. I would suggest avoiding NorthShore at all costs. read more

We have visited this location of Swedish Care on Irving park multiple times, both me and my husband. We always receive a really good care, everyone is really nice. Last time I was there with wrist pain, and I was treated by Kristin Shannon, she was amazing, as well as a nurse and a lady who took my X-Ray. On my previous visits with my cold/flu symptoms I was treated by Marguerite Vitulski, and she was awesome! I highly recommend this place, the wait time is short, the service is fast, the people who works there are professional and nice! read more

I had to come in during this COVID pandemic because I sliced my finger. APN Margurite was the best. She kept me calm the whole time. She went through everything thoroughly and made getting stitches a breeze. She also let me know the next time she was working so I could come in and check the stitches. She was the best. read more

Absolutely disgusted with the way I was treated when I called. I called to make sure my insurance is accepted as I found this provider on my insurance website in-network. The receptionist working 8/28 at 11:50am over the phone was short and rude. I explained I'm experiencing neck pain post car accident and she said they can't bill 3rd party insurance. I explained it's not 3rd party insurance and asked what to do and she said "go to ER, you're being rude." And hung up the phone. I called back twice and the receptionist purposely let it ring and ring avoiding picking up the phone to calmly explain the process. Absolutely unprofessional! read more

Came in for a COVID antibody test on September 16, 2020. When scheduling the appointment on the phone AND when they called me to enter the building AND when I entered the office, I told them I did not have a co-pay for the visit. They insisted I did and couldn't receive the test without paying. I paid, assuming I would get a refund after the Blue Cross EOB went through as I have with any other medical provider where a balance was due to me. It has been almost 15 months and I have called several times and also twice mailed them a very clear letter outlining the problem and attaching copies of my receipt and my EOB, yet I'm still waiting for my refund and cannot get a clear resolution. According to Blue Cross, my co-pay was $0. Apparently their old Swedish Covenant system and billing department have been merged with North Shore and this is the reason. Huh? I've been here three times for various medical needs. The wait times have been reasonable compared to other urgent cares I've been to. The doctors and nurse practitioners I've seen have all been kind, with good bedside manners. Would recommend if you want a good neighborhood urgent care. read more

Christina Wagener is an absolute godsend and was beyond amazing when I had to go to immediate care. She knew exactly what was wrong with me within the first 10 seconds of talking. I had no idea she was a nurse practitioner because she was so knowledgeable and answered all of my questions confidently and made me feel like it wasn't one of the worse days of my life. Walked out with a correct diagnosis (misdiagnosed by another doctor at another practice) and prescription and even lollipops and Disney princess stickers because even a 32 year old needs cheering up! This review is solely based off of the person who took my phone call. I handle all of my fathers medical affairs. Everything about his medical because he has aggressive cancer, it's daunting for him and I handle all appointments etc. I couldn't get an appointment with his regular doctor soon enough so I found this place that takes his public aid. The woman refused to let me make an appointment. Questioning me on my fathers cognitive ability to be able to pick up the phone and to make an appointment his self. Not that I can even put him on the phone to answer her " series of private questions", nope, only that he has to physically call for the appointment himself. I've NEVER experienced this, I've scheduled biopsy's, radiation, blood work, etc myself for him, and I couldn't even get a simple urgent care appointment. I get some places have privacy policies- of course, I respect that. But a doctors appointment? One where I couldn't even get him on the phone while being with me to answer her questions. Which were probably "do you have a fever or a cough, did you leave the country?" If you have an elderly parent, a parent being treated for cancer that is on an ample amount of medication, or hormone therapy that makes it difficult for him to even discuss his medical stance without having an emotional break down- then please don't come here. DO NOT GET TESTED FOR COVID HERE! COMPLETE BAIT AND SWITCH! My kids were sick in the spring, and I needed negative COVID tests so they could return to school. I was VERY SPECIFIC on the phone that I JUST needed a COVID test for them - I was NOT looking for a medical exam (they had congestion/runny noses - completely just a harmless cold, but in this pandemic age there was no way I was going to send them to school with cold symptoms without a negative COVID test). When we get to the clinic, a PA starts performing an exam on both of them before she does the COVID test, but I figured it was just part of their COVID testing protocol. Sure enough, I get $140 bill in the mail for the two sick-child visits. I called and explained that I was in NO WAY looking for a clinical exam - ALL I WANTED WAS THE COVID TEST, which should be billed to my insurance and free to me. They said they would review it and get back to me. Of course, the review did not come back in my favor, and I am still on the hook for the $140 office visits that I never wanted or needed. I called back after the "review" did not go my way, and was told that the office manager would give me a call, which never happened (this was about 2 weeks ago). I am FURIOUS at this clinic that it was never explained to me that bringing my kids in for a COVID test would result in being billed for a medical exam. Had I known this, I obviously would have taken them to any of the other hundreds of FREE testing sites in the city that would just bill my insurance. SHAME ON YOU, Swedish, for trying to find a way to essentially charge families for COVID testing. That is RIDICULOUS that I could not just bring my children there to get tested without also being charged for a clinical exam, especially when I VERY SPECIFICALLY said that was all that I needed/wanted, AND I was NEVER told throughout the whole process that I would be charged for clinical exams. As if this pandemic has not been difficult enough on families, there you are trying to find back door ways to charge people for COVID testing that is supposed to be free. SHAME ON YOU. read more

I had a wonderful experience here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this clinic to anyone. The receptionist was lovely, warm and helpful and the nurse practitioner that saw us was great - thorough with excellent follow-up. She seemed very experienced and knowledgable. I felt like I was in good hands with someone who cared. This is the worst urgent care experience I've ever had. Go to aayu or physicians if you need anything. I had an e visit for a stomach ache. Simply needed a quick visit and a return to work letter. I had my appointment on Friday, yet Monday I had to rush to this location because they couldn't get me a 3 sentence letter any other way than handing me a letter after an e visit. They couldn't get the letter accessible through their app. They told me that I couldn't get the letter emailed to me because it was a hipaa violation, which is completely made up. So they called me with 15 minutes left in their business day to pick up a simple letter. Insane. They were hesitant to even tape the letter outside their door. I freaked out one day during flu season when I realized my two young kids hadn't gotten their flu shots yet. I called ahead to make sure this was something that they provide, brought them both in and we were out of there in less than 30 minutes. The medical assistant was great with the kids. I went to get help with a lingering cold today, and the staff there is fantastic.I completely forgot to bring all identifying info with me-no insurance card, driver's license, etc. This is what a lingering cold does to you...makes you forgetful! I thought for sure that they would not see me but they did, based on the photo matching me and my answering questions right, and a few other things. The front desk person was very polite, understanding, friendly, and helpful, and my doctor was a good listener with a sense of humor as well. I got all my questions answered and felt respected as a patient. She was thorough as well which matters to me a lot. I have been to this place before, and it was excellent then and was again today. I highly recommend it to anyone who does not want to wait for a doc appt. and needs to be seen sooner than later. read more

I cannot say enough about this clinic which was courteous, prompt and provided great health care. The clinic was open on the 4th of July when my regular doctor was not. And even gave us a follow-up courtesy call just to see how he was doing. Then we returned with him 2 days later, because he had a rash that had developed. The same nurse practitioner, Marguerite, saw us again very quickly. She was phenomenal in her explanation of how we should care for my son's diagnosis. I'm very impressed. I have been going to Northshore group in Evanston for years, but they are no longer in the top tier for my BCBS PPO insurance. I had been hesitant to try to Swedish Covenant, even though it is. But I will now enthusiastically use Swedish. and I'm looking forward to the new location they are opening in Andersonville, which is even closer to my house. read more

Swedish Covenant was amazing when I came in 15 minutes before close with a laceration to my hand. The entire staff was super really helpful and quick to get to me. They made sure to tell me why they were doing the things they were doing. The team there even had me come back in two days later so they could ensure no infection and help re-wrap the laceration and tell me how to move forward with caring for my hand. I would highly recommend this urgent care - in my experience they ensure short wait times and have incredibly knowledgeable staff. read more

I have been here for a range of problems from a nasty case of the flu to an injured foot to vaccinations and have been very pleased with the care that I received. My wait time in the reception area has never been more than 15 minutes.
