So, I order a Coconut and Pineapple Mojito, so cool and refreshing. We like to try something different each time we visit. Our waitress recommended the Chicken Roulade. My Wife and I have been visiting Cosmo's for many years. It's always been a place you can go to and…read morefeel comfortable. It can be hit or miss depending on what you order however, we have been enough to know and share with others what to order and what to stay away from. The following is from our most recent visit. We began the meal with a Cosmo and a Fairhope Brewery Blue Steel Sour. Both were very good. The Blue Steel sour has notes of blueberry. For an appetizer we ordered the cheese dip. It consist of three cheeses, including Gruyere, which is one of our favorites. The cheese also comes with feta cheese and a tomato relish over the top, which we find very good. It makes the cheese dip a little different than others. The tomatoes are very soft and the relish is on the sweeter side. My Wife got the chicken roulade. It was okay. The chicken was good however, it is wrapped in bacon and flash fried. In our opinion the flash fry isn't needed and it adds the risk of the bacon being overdone or burnt, which is what happened. The Parmesan risotto was a little gummy but had good flavor. The cream sauce that accompanied the dish was probably the best part. I got the fish sandwich and upgraded from sheepshead to grouper. You can get it fried, blackened or grilled. I chose grilled and it was really good. It was not the first time I have gotten the fish sandwich. The bun is a sourdough/Hawaiian roll hybrid. I got an order of fries to go with the fish sandwich. Their fries are really really. They're slightly battered and crunchy. Very good with ketchup or tartar sauce or both! If you visit I would suggest sticking to the fish sandwich, burger or fish dish (grilled/blackened) that comes with a cream based sauce. Their drinks and beer is selection really good as well. Most of the time on weekends they have live music if that's your kind of thing.

I'd never had grits in fried patties like that but man oh man, scoop you up some of that creamy sauce with it & Lord have mercy it was amazing! Unfortunately I also got a small salad before my meal & didn't have room to finish my entree but I definitely brought it home with me. The salad bar was probably the best I've had - those croutons! Yum! The ranch was good too - if like ranch then you know how different they can be - this was the good ranch! My husband got the pork chop & he said it was really good! My son got the creole linguini pasta & said it was great. It looked to be well seasoned & packed full of flavor! I forgot to get a picture of his. While I don't have any little kids, they did have a neat little play area for them with sand. Outside bar (the drinks were a little pricey in my opinion, my husband's small margarita was like $15 - I stuck to tea lol. They have a nice long dock that you can walk out on, the sunset was pretty. The waitstaff was nice, the only thing I'd suggest is for the host staff to be a little more welcoming & friendly. I know they probably get tired of the lines of people & having to repeat the same thing over & over but I'm sure most everyone they encounter is experiencing that establishment for the first time. First impressions are so important & your staff can make or break you. Luckily, the food is so good that I could overlook that in this case. I'd definitely recommend this place!

My advice, find a seat, have someone order at the order window, then head to the bar to order drinks. The wait to order food took about a half hour. It was very quick to get our drinks. We were able to snag a couch area on a platform. It was so comfy and we loved the views. A heads up- if you snag a couch like this, kids will get up on the platform and jump off of it. People will step up on the platform and walk extremely close to you. I had to ask a kid to stop throwing sand by us because we were eating our dinner. It was a little chaotic. We were extremely patient and understand, but I could see some people being very upset and annoyed. After ordering, our food came out pretty quick. I started with the coconut grouper bites and they were phenomenal. Light breading, lightly sweat, and flaky. I had the Gulf Grilled Cobia and it was phenomenal. The fish was tender, flaky, and light. No fishiness at all. The sauce on the fish was also delightful. My husband and son had the fajita skewers and both enjoyed them. My husband also had the peel and eat shrimp and said they were amazing at The Gulf. Our drinks were okay. We had better drinks at other places during the week, but they weren't bad. We would return, but try to come on an off-time that wasn't so busy.

However, we unfortunately weren't impressed with the flavor. Presentation wise, very fun and cute. The mermaid tail was presented with everything I got except I didn't get the mermaid tail gummy/charm on my sundae, a bit odd haha. The mermaid tail was $8 but really it was beautiful! The vanilla ice cream however, was not great. It tasted like imitation vanilla, like vanilla extract. Not a fan at all. My husband got a milkshake with m&ms and gummy worms. Mix ins were great... but the ice cream again was just OFF. It didn't taste like a normal chocolate ice cream and we couldn't figure out what was off but something was. This is how much of our items we decided to go ahead and toss due to flavor just not being what we expected. I've got my eye, for my next visit, on the Outlaw Chili Dog which is a hot dog, topped with mustard, house-made chili, onions, slaw, and pickles, it sounds delish. Also when I'm not being my regularly cheery self I'm coming back for a Cheer Up Buttercup, which has a  Peanut Butter Rim, Vanilla Milkshake or Sundae, Topped with Slice of Cheese Cake, Reese Cups, Reese Pieces, Pretzels Carmel and Whipped Topping, that sounds cheery :-)  I had my first Pistol Pete shake that was quite  enjoyable, and by the way they use Blue Bell Ice Cream here, and I do like their stuff.  Bottom line: Milkshake Momma Burgers and Shakes offers a fun dining experience with its unique atmosphere, delicious comfort food, and over-the-top milkshakes. The first thing that impressed me was the ample parking. The restaurant also has a small private beach area for customers, along with a great bar area overlooking the water. He made me feel extremely welcome and even recommended a lunch item from the menu. I took his advice and ordered the Pork Ribeye Sandwich, and it was absolutely amazing. On the side, I had a salad with their homemade ranch dressing. Without a doubt, this is some of the best ranch dressing I have ever had. The bartender, Cody, was outstanding as well. I tried the Lime Margarita, Blackberry Mojito, and the Strawberry Basil drink. Every one of them was fantastic. You can tell this is a place that people genuinely enjoy working at. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the customers all seemed happy to be there. It's rare to find a restaurant that gets everything right, but Avenue Pub comes very close.
