Quality food and outstanding customer service. I've gone a few times and never had a bad experience

I really wanted to like this place because the staff was truly amazing -- friendly, attentive, and welcoming from the moment I walked in. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were a big disappointment. I ordered a Mountain Dew, but it tasted like a strange mix of Sprite and lemonade -- definitely not Mountain Dew and honestly pretty unpleasant. I then tried switching to a Coca-Cola, but that didn't taste right either. For food, I ordered the Philly cheesesteak without cheese due to an allergy. The steak came out burnt, which made it really hard to enjoy. The fries weren't any better -- they tasted freezer-burnt or old, like they had been sitting for a while. The place has that dive-bar vibe, which I don't mind at all, but unfortunately, the quality of the food just wasn't there. We found a gem of a restaurant. We were in the area passing through at supper time. Started off with some old fashioned sand a Bloody Mary All their drinks were delicious and nice sizes. We had the best waitress, Dannie. She was so sweet and funny. I ordered the Jerk Chicken bowl which was heavenly. My husband had the potato soup and the jam burger special. I tried his soup. I would go back for just the soup. My husband enjoyed his burger and I will have to take his word on it because I did not try it. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining. They were busy but no one else ate out on the deck. It was such an all around great dining experience. If we ever find ourselves in the area again this will be our go to spot. read more

Awesome place! We stopped in for lunch and had a fantastic experience. Our bartender/waitress, Amber, was amazing--super friendly and attentive. The chef even came out to chat with us, which is something you don't see often around here and made the experience even better. Now, let's talk about the food--absolutely on point! All three of us had the Uncle Larry Burger, and it was incredible. A perfectly done smash burger with a delicious special sauce--easily one of the best burgers in Hartford! We have been there with 2 or more people several times. Our group has had the all-you-can-eat chicken, several of the burger specials, fish fry and prime rib. Every meal has been very tasty as well as cooked to our liking. I would definitely give an A+ for the food and the choices, there is always something for everyone. The restaurant is not fancy inside at all, but I don't go to a restaurant for a fancy building. I go for good food so if you're looking for a fancy ambiance or decor, this is not the place to go, but if you want great food, I would definitely recommend it. I would not feel comfortable eating in the bar area due to the noise volume in the bar area. There is seating upstairs or outside which is casual and fine for eating. read more

Uncle Larry's never disappoints! You can't go wrong with the fried mushrooms and the bacon jam burger (my go-tos). But anything I've tried off the regular menu or their monthly specials is always great. read more

Tried Uncle Larry's for the first time a few weeks ago. We (unluckily) arrived just after a LARGE group of people, so service was very slow. Waitresses were literally running their behinds off to try and accommodate. Food finally came and was VERY good! I got the large Uncle Larry's signature burger which was fantastic. Fries were tasty. Son got chicken tenders & luckily he didn't finish one, so I got it....VERY tasty as well. Will definitely be back, just hope our timing is better read more

When I arrived for dinner this evening at Uncle Larry's Rustic Inn, I realized I'd been here once before to pick up a Friday fish fry to go, but apparently never left a review for it. I don't remember how the fish fry went so this review will only cover the visit I just had. My dinner consisted of the 12 jumbo wings with honey barbecue sauce and the 5 Cheese Plank Burger with Rustic fries. I almost never order bone-in wings because I don't feel the value is there when you can't eat the entire thing. This evening, however, I had a coupon for which I needed to spend a minimum amount to use it and the wings sounded tempting. I wouldn't necessarily call them jumbo like their menu does and I wish they were all flats instead of a mixture of flats and drums, but they were good. The honey BBQ tasted exactly as expected and the ratio of sauce to wing was spot on. The burger was a mixed bag. The patty was cooked exactly how I ordered it and I liked the flavor of the patty, but the cheese plank was disappointing. The combination of the breading and the American cheese completely masked all of the other cheese flavors in it. I've had different kinds of fried cheese on burgers before, like mozzarella sticks or deep fried mac and cheese, and I feel like it's always great in concept but lacking in execution. Shout out to the Rustic fries. The picture I saw before ordering made them look like steak fries, which I'm not a fan of because it's usually too much potato and not enough seasoning. The Rustic fries were wide like a steak fry, but almost as thin as a chip. That allowed them to get crispier than a steak fry and allowed for the right amount of seasoning. As the COVID-19 case numbers keep setting daily records in Wisconsin, it was disappointing to see that not a single employee was wearing a mask. The entire time I was there the upstairs had a table with two people at it on the opposite side of the room from my table with just me, but the downstairs was pretty packed, so distancing wasn't even really being enforced. Once you find the place, you will likely have a nice experience. The service was pleasant. The food was good. And the setting was decent. Plenty of choices with some intriguing options. I don't live in the area, but if I did, I would likely hit this place up regularly. read more

Food was good, once we received it. We waited over 50 minutes for our food while others ordered after us and finished eating?! My 1/2 rack Ribs were wonderful, husband had the Bring on the heat burger which in his option had no heat and he said he would never order again. Sadly, it's s a no from me dawg. We decided to check out Uncle Larry's on a drive to Holy Hill. It's a newer place and the reviews are generally great but our experience wasn't. If you sit upstairs you'll have lake views but that wasn't open on our visit. The lower level is essentially a clean townie bar. If you come on a weekend they serve breakfast until 2, but I opted for a build your own burger. The case burger is $6, and toppings are just .75, so you can build a pretty interesting burger for less than $10. I opted for cheese, guacamole and bacon. My burger looked impressive but the taste was....not good. The party was hand formed but completely unseasoned and the taste was off. I'm not saying spoiled but just...not right. My husband had a bite and agreed that it was weird tasting. The bun disintegrated almost immediately so that got removed - in the end I only ate 1/2. The Mister had a crock of French onion which to my taste was oddly sweet but he liked it, as it wasn't too salty. His meal was a chicken dinner ($11) that came with 4 pieces of breasted chicken & 2 sides. Definitely very good - nice seasoning on the chicken. We both really liked the "rustic fries" which are sliced wide but thin / they end up somewhere between a fry and a chip - really good. Service was pleasant but kind of spacey. We didn't see her often and then ended up getting charged for someone else's check - luckily we noticed before leaving. Bizarrely, refills on soda are free but not iced tea (which isn't good either, skip it). If you come I'd recommend the chicken for sure, but for me it's not a place I'd want to come back to. read more

Stopped for lunch. First time being there. At first glance it appeared to be a nice place. We sat down at a table in the bar area which seemed llike a reasonable thing to do. We were here for an event so did not order off the menu. But the steak, baked potato and veggies we were served were delicious and so was the lemonade. Not an ideal place to hold a meeting. There is an outside small deck looking at a lake that would be a pleasant place to dine although there is a road that Runs between the restaurant and lake. read more

First visit here. It's off the main road but was easy to locate using map app. It's a small place with restaurant seating upstairs/bar and limited seating downstairs. Nothing fancy but service was good and place is clean. My daughter had the chicken Alfredo with broccoli and the French onion soup. She said they were both really good. French onion especially - said it was one of the best she's had. I had the Rustic In Burger - tasty and juicy. We had the curds as an appetizer - good size portion and perfect texture. We went here for lunch on a Monday and we had a wonderful experience. Very friendly service and really delicious food. My husband had their all you can eat breasted chicken special and I had their October mashed potato/chicken bowl. Both of our lunches were hot and seasoned perfectly. Ended up dining here after the other 2 spots on the list were both closed. I had been here for a meeting a few years back but had never dined off the menu. The VIP burger was an enormous amount of food for one person to eat. I should have read the menu more closely but didn't realize it was two 8oz patties. They tasted and felt freshly ground which was a pleasant surprise in today's day and age. The homemade 1000 island dressing was not overly tangy and the thinly julienned onions were a nice texture add to the burger. Just too much food for me but a very good burger none the less. The fries look like steak fries but are much thinner which gives them a much more pleasant taste and experience. They were swamped as this is a very popular fish fry in the area but the waitstaff did a great job of getting us a spot to sit when one was available and kept our drinks filled even though they were extremely busy with tables and orders. read more

We stopped for a drink and appetizer on a Friday night. The ambience reminded me of a family Christmas party. Kind of cramped, a make shift bar, cans of soda lining the wall, no tap beer. I assumed they were under construction but there was nothing to indicate this. I didn't see a notice on their website either, but there are pictures of a more formal looking bar area so I'm not sure what's up. My old fashioned was okay; very grainy from too much sugar but they muddle the fruit in the bottom which is always a plus. The crowd was not friendly and we felt very out of place. A group of three was standing behind us as we tried to leave and literally would not move as we tried to squeeze out. I looked at the menu online before we went but the menu at the location had half of the options. Luckily, the Reuben rolls were still an option! We placed an order for them while we had our drinks. They came out fresh from the fryer and looked delicious. They were large and fluffy but the meat inside was not great quality. I hope they are under renovations because our visit left more to be desired. I'd love to try them again when things are running smoothly! read more

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the food, but I can comment on service. I tried to stop in here for lunch. When we walked in there was a sign that directed us to the downstairs bar to be seated. Once we were downstairs we were told we could sit anywhere, upstairs or downstairs. We went back upstairs to be seated and waited for our server. The lady that told us to sit anywhere came by with menus and told us she would be right with us. We looked over our menus, decided what we wanted to order and then waited. After 15 minutes of waiting and no further acknowledgment we left. Now, the reason I will give it two stars is because they seemed extremely understaffed. They had what appeared to be a full bar, and about 15 tables that I saw. The biggest reason we left is we could see into the kitchen and the heating lamps were full of food items waiting to be taken out. Those same items sat there just about the entire time we were there, with us only seeing one order go out. We decided we'd try Uncle Larry's another day when they weren't as understaffed and went to another locally owned place for lunch. read more

Started with the breaded mushrooms, they were huge, hot and delicious, the southwest type sauce was a great accomplishment to them. Ordered Prime Rib dinners, they were on point for doneness and flavor, enjoyed the entrée. Finished with a Cheesecake with berries, perfect ending. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable, if they could not answer a question, they did not try to BS you, they went to find out, and promptly returned. I will be back. read more

Finally, a decent Prime Rib!!! Ordered Medium-Rare King cut and got a THICK cut that was Medium Rare. Knife fell through it. Excellent. The Crab mushroom soup was really good, as well. Plus they stock one of my new favorite beers ,kentucky bourbon ale. Great meal and great service. We'll be Saturday night regulars. read more
