We really enjoyed Uncle Julio's! The food was delicious and FRESH. We love that they make everything from scratch. The menu is a bit pricey and children's menu is limited (the only non tex mex food is chicken tenders). Also I would LOVE if they added a chimichanga to their menu! read more

We came in on a Sunday around 4:30, looking for a table for 2. We were told it'd be a 45 minutes wait, but that we could seat ourselves in the bar or outside patio area. There were tables for both small and large parties, but all were occupied.(Side note: if you do not make a reservation, you should anticipate a little wait for a new restaurant... an even longer wait if you're in a large party.)... we stalked a few people in the bar area and scored a seat after about 10 minutes. The bartenders greeted us almost immediately. We both ordered the swirl margarita, which was pretty good. I watched the bartender make a few drinks while we were seated and she was pretty generous on the alcohol, so I'm sure the mixed drinks were good as well. While the table side guacamole looked really, good, we settled for the complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were thin, warm and not too salty, which is just how we like it. We ordered the carne asada and shrimp tacos... I'm not sure if we were just extremely hungry, or if the food was that good... but I felt like my meal was AMAZING! My husband even had the nerve to say that their shrimp tacos were almost better than mine...so yeah, I'm pretty sure it was just the hunger speaking lol. With that said- I'm going to give them 4 stars for today... and we'll come back when we aren't STARVING to see if I need to switch this to a 5. Either way, we'll be back. We went to Uncle Julio's yesterday for the first time. We were seated quickly and our server brought us drinks right away. Overall, the food is outstanding, and plenty of it. We both had fajitas, although different meats, and neither of us could finish. At the end of the meal, the server and the manager addressed a small issue generously and without reservation. Both of them were genuinely apologetic and displayed their professionalism with a personal touch. It is obvious they were not just "towing the corporate line" and truly wanted to make things right so we would feel comfortable returning. And we will return. read more

I made a reservation on Resy for the patio. I waited over 10 minutes past my reservation time to be notified that I had the option of sitting in the bar area. And the hostess then said that I would have to wait 20 additional minutes to actually be seated at the patio. The food and service were enjoyable. I do not see myself returning. read more

I'm not a fan of Mexican food but I have to say this is the best I've ever had. The carne asada literally melts in your mouth. The margaritas aren't too bad either. And the chips and salsa are also the best I've ever had. I'll definitely be coming back and this is coming from someone that has never liked Mexican food. read more

On the 31 of October we decided to stop at this restaurant to celebrate my daughters birthday for the first time, when I made the reservation I specified that I wanted a high chair for my baby. When we arrived to the restaurant the person that lead us to our table gave us a dirty look and when we arrived to the table the table want set and the high chair wasn't their like I asked. The service was very late the food was late they never refilled our drinks, and the food wasn't what we excepted when we finished eating they never took our plates away. The attention they gave to the other table was much better then the attention we got and I don't want to say the were discriminating us because we are Latin but it honestly felt like that. The only good thing about the place were the Margaritas other then that the food was very poorly. It was a horrible experience, it was not what we expected. read more

Lets review. We stopped at Julios just after it opened. Parking was a bit tight but we prevailed. It was refreshing change from the usual local fare. We enjoyed the high energy, charged atmosphere and the liveliness of the place. There was one group that was pretty loud and the seating was awkward. People kept leaving that area, so be aware of seating. Just from observation, the waiters vary in quality. Ours was very good! First impression was the delicately crisp tortillas and the flavorful salsa with its own unique flavor (not hard and greasy). The house guacamole was fresh and good although the tableside is freshest but costly. My wife says the beef enchiladas were delicious because the beef was seasoned but the sauce was typical. The hand rolled tamale likewise tasted good. The flavor profile was different because of the grilled peppers we think. The taco was fairly typical. The atmosphere in Annapolis seemed better than Bethesda but the food in both was equally delicious tex-mex. Finally, the pricing was about three to four bucks higher per person than other tex-mex places. That could make the difference in where people choose to dine. Julios could be the new king of the hill for now. read more

My girlfriend's & I visited this location on September 26th. You have to make a reservation online. We made our reservation for a party of 4 at 8pm, and when I arrived to check in, they didn't have our reservation I had the email confirmation on my phone, so they had to honor it. After that small obstacle, the rest of the event went smoothly. Our waitress was phenomenal, the drinks were flowing & delicious. As a San Diego native, I grew up eating really good authentic Mexican food. In the past 7 years that I've lived in Maryland, I had been disappointed in the many Mexican restaurants I tried until tonight at Uncle Julio's. My husband took me here this evening to celebrate my birthday, and the experience was amazing from start to finish. We were told there was a 55 minute wait (which we anticipated and weren't bothered by), however, we were seated within 20 minutes (awesome). Our waitress was the best (priscilla). She was funny, personable, and attentive. Loved the fresh warm chips, and the salsa was good too, it just wasn't one of my favorites flavor wise. I am a guac girl to the fullest and the tableside guacamole was SO good!! I ordered a cheese and onion enchilada and chicken enchilada for my entree, and both were YUM!! My husband ordered the fish tacos and loved those also. We both enjoyed our black beans on the side as well! We were stuffed, but since it was my birthday, I wanted to get the whole Uncle Julio's experience. We finished our meal off with the chocolate pinata which was so cool! The chocolate and sauces tasted sooooo good, we even brought all of our leftovers home! This is a must try if you're into sweets. Covid review: I felt very safe and distant from others eating here. The service was also very good. We ordered the guac which they don't make at the table anymore due to covid- but overall everything was good. We went to celebrate my friends 50th birthday. She was so excited about this place, being from Ohio I had no idea what to expect. She was looking forward to sangria and the chocolate piñata. Total bust! The sangria was just out of a wine bottle not even a fresh fruit garnish. And due to a "limited" menu no piñata!! What the heck we are a full year into this. My husband and I love Mexican/Tex Mex food, so we've been really excited to try out Uncle Julio's. We went on a Tuesday at around 3, so it wasn't very busy. By the time we left though, it was getting pretty packed. I'd suggest going early if you can. We ordered a small guacamole, which was really great. It had the perfect amount of salt, and was plenty for 2 people. Their salsa is also sooo good and has a smoky flavor. Delicious. We got lunch portions of the carnitas fajitas and the fish tacos. The carnitas were INSANELY delicious. They were tender and so so flavorful. I'd go back just for them. Our server was very nice, but we waited quite a while for the check. Great for families and small party celebrations. My husband and 3 kids were in the area from DC and stopped in for dinner. Let start by saying that it's best to make a reservation especially on the weekends because we waited for about 30 minutes to be seated. The weather was nice so we sat outside on the patio around the fire pit which was nice. Our waiter Reggie was the best!!! He went above and beyond with great suggestions and options even for the kids. The food came out hot and fresh. My only complaint is that we had to wait an additional half hour for the desert which was not a pleasant experience. Somebody dropped the ball somewhere because our waiter was made aware of our desert order in the beginning of ordering. The chocolate Piñata takes about 20 minutes to make. With that said, as soon as you know your going to want a chocolate piñata, place your order immediately. So that the piñata comes out right after your meal! For a reservation for 12, hen we got there they told us we had to sit across the restaurant from each other and couldn't all sit together. Whatever, that's fine. Then while they're telling us all of the the manager and hostesses are looking at us rolling their eyes and just generally looking our way visibly pissed off. This place is really good it reminded me of a much better version of Chevys. I had the honey chipotle chicken fajitas they were delicious. They were sweet but had a nice kick to them also. They do offer a queso blanco which was good but a bit over priced with a small one $8. The chips and salsa was very similar to Chevys. But the best part was the chocolate piñata! It was amazing strawberries, pineapple, blackberries & churros inside a chocolate ball you get to break open. There's Kahlúa infused whipped cream on the side along with chocolate, caramel and raspberry sauce it was $25 but enough for 4+ people. Food made me violently ill. Bacon wrapped shrimp combo platter. Did not want to write this but I feel I should share my experience good or bad. I have patronized this location many times, maybe a dozen or so. Every time prior was a great experience. What should of tipped me off was the odd color of the shrimp tails. The wait was terrible and the hostesses at the front desk were not friendly at all. We were given a time of 55min when we walked up. There were multiple tables opened throughout the restaurant, yet we were not sat. We with the hostess and were told, I gave you a time of 55 mins and you have 40 remaining. Sadly it was sad exactly how it was written. The Bar was very good, the El Jefe Margarita was superb, it was all downhill from there. First the chips and salsa. The chips were oily and the salsa was tasteless. we asked for more spicy salsa and we did get it but problem was the smoke of the chipotle pepper which overwhelmed the dish. I got the Juanita Platter and to be honest it was horrible. The bowl of pinto beans were right out of a can, added some salsa to it and that was that. The Tamal reminded me of the ones you get out of the Hormel Can. The beef was ok and the chicken was dry. The star of the dish was the rice which was very well. i realize that the restaurant just opened so i will go back in a few months to see if it is any better. Staff were friendly, and the interior design is welcoming and modern, with fresh veggies everywhere. First impressions were hampered a bit by the chips and salsa. A must-have for any Mexican-inspired meal, the salsa was just disappointing--unless you love black pepper. That's the only identifiable flavor, and unfortunately places this salsa on the low end of what you'll find in the area. Despite that, the meal was good. We split the carnitas tacos with rice and beans. The tacos had a nice blend of sweet and hot, with the freshness of cilantro and pico. But the rice was again another black pepper bomb, and none of our party cared for it. Uncle Julio's is a solid choice with some room for improvement. But being a chain, the actual entrees and flavor profiles are likely here to stay. Stopped by for lunch yesterday... This is a new restaurant in the area and wanted to check it out. Our waitress, Tatyana was attentive and helpful. She told us about I teams on the menu at my request. We ordered the carnitas tacos and the fajita salad with chicken. Everything was delivered hot and fresh. Drinks were replenished regularly and we were checked on a number of times to male sure everything was alright. I appreciate this and new restaurants often struggle with a routine. That is not the case here! Now for the highlights! The margaritas' were delicious! My hubby judges a restaurant on this alone! Loll! His tacos were delicious and he could not stop talking about the delicious beans. My salad was enormous! I could not finish it. The peppery ranch dressing was spicy and amazing. My husband was dipping chips into it! Yummy.... The chips and salsa were brought to the table and also very good. I was totally surprised by this restaurant - location Annapolis, MD. I watched the lines when it first opened and thought...oh it's just the"newness, the buzz rush" but now open several months and the place is still popping. Minimum wait even on what you consider slow week night is like 15-25 min. Hey that's not a complaint I'm just saying -I've waited up to 35 min and been happy to do so. On weekends the wait can be an hour or so..but reservations are welcomed and if you're going on the weekend (fri/sat nts)I would definitely recommend reserving. Atmosphere was great. From the outdoor fire pit to the cozy interior. Service: both times I've been there ( in a span of 2 weeks) we've had amazing service. Attentive servers, I was never dry or in need. Ive had the chicken fajitas, the Steak as a side and the Honey Chipotle Salmon. The wait after ordering is about 10-15 min. But with good conversation you never notice the time slipping by . Each selection was superbly done and tasted excellent. We never felt rush... but let's just say as soon as you get up there is someone there to turn the tables over. I'm sure I'll be back very soon. I heard great things about this restaurant, so I was excited to try it. Came about 5:15pm with no reservation and was seated instantly - we were a party of 4, two kids and two adults. Unfortunately, while we ordered quickly - we never received our food. After an hour, I complained to the manager, who promised to get our food right away. Ten minutes later, she returned with no food and no apology - and then tried to argue with me when I explained that she's promised us our food 10 minutes ago (she insisted it was 2 minutes after our conversation). I was so full from the guacamole and chips that i barley ate my meal, so I had plety of leftovers. I ordered the swirl drink, for my alcoholic bevarage it was pretty strong, and really good. For my meal I ordered the steak fajitas which came with beans and rice, and warm tortilla shells. My fiance ordered the vegetable fajitas, which he says was pretty damn good, the mushrooms which it mainly consist of look like meat, it also came with beans and rice, and warm tortillas shells. He said it was really good, we also ordered the shrimp tacos, which was also good as well. I had enough to food leftover to make 3 more fajitas, to eat later. They serve Pepsi products for drinks, but they offer lemonade as well, I got the mango one, it to was very good, downfall its $1.00 for refills on the lemonade. Over all I love this place, the service was on point. I was never a fan of the the other big name Mexican Restaraunt, DON PABLOS....but this place gets a 10 in my book. Ordered through app. We ordered steak and chicken fajitas for 3. There was no way we had enough meat for 3. It barely fed 2. We have eaten in the store before and never found this little meat for fajitas. We had lots of tortillas and the condiments but were cheated on the meat. Visited today 07/18/18 sat at the bar, the restaurant was fairly busy. Tasha was working behind the bar, she had the best attitude and service.. our food came quickly, and the honey chicken fajitas were tasty. The margaritas were on point. Tasha made us feel like we were the only one at the bar that quickly filled up while we were there. She took time out to explain the menu and the different drinks. We had to speak to the manager because so many people want to complain when they have a negative experience... we always like to express our appreciation for excellent service too. I can't eat spicy food & asked for no spices on my food & ordered grilled zucchini (which is on the menu), it was served with red pepper sprinkled on the top. I thought maybe it was paprika. Couldn't eat it. The black beans were super spicy, couldn't eat them, the fish tacos were also spicy - I was only able to barely eat one taco & couldn't eat anything else. I wonder if they put all this spice in the kids menu also - not everyone can eat super spicy foods & we want to eat at restaurants too!!! read more

Starting with the server - he was perfect. Probably one if the best servers I have ever had. Very attentive and helpful with our unruly table of 7.
