Really good mexican food with LARGE portions. Free salsa and a queso dip with chips are complementary. The staff is really nice and the inside is decorated with hand painted mexican imagery. Leftovers were even better the next day

I came here with some friends for dinner and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It wasn't crowded during our visit. Everyone on the staff was very friendly. The food was ok. It wasn't really anything to rave about, but I see why this is a local staple for many. The prices and portions are a good value. We enjoyed their margarita offerings. None of us were fans of the creamy salsa/white sauce that comes with the chips - it tasted sour and the seasoning didn't mesh well. When we asked for a regular salsa as a replacement, our server was kind about it and said that she knows that many people don't like it. The wings were good. I felt like my food (Yolanda's special) was a little bland. The seafood burrito was huge and my friend enjoyed it. The nachos were enjoyed too. I would come back if I was in the area.

stopped by this spot on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We ordered a lime pitcher on the rocks and some fresh guacamole for the table--both were solid choices. The quesadillas and street tacos had an authentic flavor that's often missing in local Mexican-style restaurants, which tend to be more Americanized. This place truly delivered. I'd definitely recommend it. It's conveniently located just down the road from the shopping center. If you're looking to enjoy quality food without the hassle of large crowds, this is the place to go. Plenty of parking was available, and there was no wait time.

La Tolteca is a good option for Mexican in the Crofton, MD area. They offer your traditional Mexican fare and some American-influenced dishes for those who don't yet appreciate authentic Mexican flavors. I've only purchased tacos here. Served on corn tortillas, the tacos are good. However, I wasn't a fan of the al pastor tacos; the pineapple was too prominent, sweet, and the meat was so runny it was borderline messy. The carne asada was delicious. There is an efficient takeout ordering operation which is separate from the dining room. There is also ample seating in the dining room and adequate parking as this place is a stand-alone brick and mortar with its own parking lot. Overall a good experience.

La Tolteca was 10/10 for us! The chips and salsa were delicious. Chips were warm, and salsa was flavourful. We got the chicken fajitas and the Carne asada special. Both were well seasoned. For drinks we got Cadillac margaritas and they were strong and made perfectly. Service was quick and staff was friendly. They had Mexican music playing, which set the mood. Plenty of parking around the building which is always a plus!

Quick service and food was well seasoned, good portion, and very reasonable. Great midweek date night.

No matter how much I try out Mexican food in the NCR, it just disappoints. Living in San Antonio, I'm terribly biased about Mexi-food. The service here was great, our waiter checked on us regularly and was friend. When we asked for salsa, we got more salsa. When we asked for a box, they got us a box... honestly, you get a lot of food here... portion sizes are generous. The ambiance is like any other Mexican place that overdoes the taco. What I mean is pinatas hanging from the ceiling, lots of festive colors, and thematic benches and table tops. The staff will place the standard chips and salsa on the table. The salsa is fresh and chunky. My carne asada especial plate came with to pieces of steak, avocado salad, spanish rice, and refried beans. What did the plate under was what tasted like store bought tortillas. Unimpressive, would I try the same plate again... probably not. Would I try something else? Hmmm. The Modelo Negra was cold and the steak wasn't overdone. Remember the NCR is lacking in Mexican food flavors... the Toltec is about par for the area.

I went here for lunch and a drink on my day off after having a long week at work. I was disappointed that they didn't have a bar they only offer table service. The service is quick and the food is good. The entree's and appetizers are reasonably priced for the quantity and quality of food you'll receive.

I feel like they have a lot of potential. We were able to make it in a few minutes before happy hour was over with and took advantage of their house Margarita and crunchy tacos. When I saw the sign outside that authentic Mexican I got so excited. When you walk in you're greeted by so many different Mexican decorations it takes you back. The next time I come back perhaps I'll try their actual street tacos and get a sense of the authenticity because the crunchy tacos with cheese and lettuce just didn't do it for me. That Margarita was definitely strong and I love the fact that to him they used was different. I feel like it had flaky salt and I'm unsure if they make it in house themselves. I wish I could have snatched some up for my purse to use for my next Margarita version. They did have a lot of TV so it would be good place to watch games or any sporting event.

Always wanted to try this place, so decided to stop by for lunch/dinner on today. Food: ~ Chicken Wings - the plain wings were better than the Buffalo, so if we ever ordered them again, I would get the plain fried wings. ~ Stuffed Shrimp - it was fried shrimp stuffed with cheese, and it was delicious ~ Steak Quesadillas - full of steak and it was all tender ~ Hard & Soft Tacos - I prefer the soft over the hard, both were really good! ~ Chorizo Dip - The chorizo dip was hot (not spicy, but came to the table hot) and was full of chorizo once we mixed it Also, side note, the bathroom was one of the best bathrooms I've been too in the last couple is months. Very very clean and in order. Overall, I will definitely be back at this place.

Chips and salsa came right away and it was hard not to eat too much, it was so tasty! The chips were fresh and hot with the perfect amount of salt; salsa was medium hot, just right for my spicy preference. After a very short wait - maybe 5 minutes, tops - our server came to take our order. The food arrived within 10 minutes. We shared nachos supreme with beef (ground beef) and four street tacos with carnitas. I can't begin to tell you how hard it was not to gobble down every bit. The carnitas were spiced perfectly and were moist and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The ground beef was, as well. The vegetables in both dishes - lettuce, onion, tomato, jalapeño - were fresh as can be. DGD enjoyed a strawberry Jarisco, while I stuck with water. The reason we held back from gorging on this feast was a planned stop at Coldstone after ;) Service was excellent, food was delicious. Parking is mildly annoying but that's just me. It's in a large shopping center and there's never any parking right in front of the businesses on the main entrance street. But we didn't have to walk far, just across an interior street from the parking shared with a theater. It's free, so a little walk is OK. With tip it was around $50 I think, but as DGD treated me, I wasn't involved in paying. Worth another visit, regardless.

So we drove a good 30mins to get here, with anticipation from seeing this restaurant on a travel channel, but the original location is in NY. We get there, and its plenty of free parking. We ask for seating for 3 and we are told they are only seating individuals who booked a reservation. Totally understandable considering its Valentine's day. I dropped the ball folks. I didn't make a reservation. So I noticed a bar lounge which we were told we could wait for a seat to open up. As we were waiting a coupled jumped in front us and took a seat. The manager Claudia came to the rescue like the dark knight but with more grace. She mentioned she was willing to put us on the list for a table in the main dining area. I accepted her kind gesture and continued to wait for bar lounge seating to open up. A couple was kind enough to come over to us and ask if we were waiting for bar lounge seating. They offered their table to us as they were ending their night. There was a 2 man band playing in the lounge area that was very soothing to the ear. As I tried to help my mother get comfortable at the hightop table, I noticed she was having a difficult time getting seated in such a high chair. Guess who came to the rescue, you guessed, Claudia! She's the best, 100 grand, made me a real fan. So she came over and said our table was ready if we wanted a booth seating and we all know that's the best seats in the house. All I could think is look at God. The wait wasn't even long either. 10 out of 10 for saving the day. In addition our waitress was such a sweetheart. I mentioned a white malbec I saw on the menu that I was astonish to see b/c I never knew of such a thing. She bought me a small glass to taste and my God, I am a true believer Jesus turned water into wine. Its so clear like water but the taste is amazing. The food is so delicious. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is very personalable. Everyone cartered to us. You would have thought we were the Obamas or something. As we were stuffing our faces, Claudia comes around handing out roses to the men/boys to give to their dates. Complimenting my son and his daper outfit she hands him a rose and tells him to give it your mommy. At the moment he lights up with a big smile as if he paid for the rose himself. I can tell he felt like a gentleman and good that he could give his mother a red rose on Valentine's day. That small gesture was very thoughtful and appreciated. I apologize for my essay, but they desired it. I love the service, the ambiance, the food, and service. I haven't seen my mother smile so much in a while. So it bought me great joy to give my mother this experience on Valentine's day. I thank Nonna Angela's staff for such a wonderful experience.

Fair warning, try to get your name on the waitlist if you're going for a popular time (dinner) as the wait was about 25 mins though that wasn't a problem for us I know some like to get in and get seated and this place is fairly popular based on the crowd. The decor is extremely beautiful, and I was surpassed at the layout as I expected it to be super cramped, but there's more than enough space between tables and parties which is nice. Our server, Kylie, was amazing! Her recommendations were top tier and she checked in on us frequently to ensure we were well taken care of. We ordered spicy guacamole, amazing! Usually guacamole is kinda flavorless but having the spicy element really made it taste amazing--and they didn't skimp out on the serving size you get a HUGE bowl! We also ordered the queso fundido, this wasn't as good and I probably wouldn't order again as it was pretty tasteless. As my entree I ordered the Mucho Gusto fajita (includes shrimp, steak and chicken), the dish came STEAMIN hot which I really appreciated. I will say though the fajita mix itself was amazing the Mexican rice and refried beans were cold and didn't taste good at all so I didn't end of eating those. However, the fajita mix itself was great and I had a lot of leftovers! For drinks we ordered the Blueberry Pina Margarita, very good! They were not shy with the patron either, so that was a plus. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely be back to try their other menu items!

When I walked in, there was a very strong sewer-like smell inside the restaurant. I remembered noticing it before, but this time it was really noticeable. Several people around the bar were talking about it, and even the bartender mentioned that the smell sometimes gives her a headache. Despite that, I decided to stay and order food. I got a grapefruit crush, fish tacos, sweet chili wings, and the peel-and-eat shrimp. Everything was actually really good and flavorful. The food and drinks definitely delivered. Fatboy's is a great addition to the Bowie/Crofton area and I enjoy the menu and happy hour vibe. I just really hope they figure out the source of that smell because it's pretty off-putting and makes you wonder what's going on behind the scenes.
