I went to Fatboy's yesterday for happy hour and overall had a good experience, but there's one major issue that needs attention. When I walked in, there was a very strong sewer-like smell inside the restaurant. I remembered noticing it before, but this time it was really noticeable. I'm not sure what's causing it, but it definitely needs to be addressed because it's pretty unpleasant. Several people around the bar were talking about it, and even the bartender mentioned that the smell sometimes gives her a headache. Despite that, I decided to stay and order food. I got a grapefruit crush, fish tacos, sweet chili wings, and the peel-and-eat shrimp. Everything was actually really good and flavorful. The food and drinks definitely delivered. Fatboy's is a great addition to the Bowie/Crofton area and I enjoy the menu and happy hour vibe. I just really hope they figure out the source of that smell because it's pretty off-putting and makes you wonder what's going on behind the scenes. This was my first visit to the "house" i've been to their other location which is the "shack" I believe. Other than it getting little confusing on whether or not we had a server this was a decent spot to grabs some seafood. We asked when we came in do we seat ourselves and they said yes but after some time of sitting at our table we quickly realized no one was coming. We went to the bar and asked if a server would be coming and were told we would need to put our order in with the bar. After a family was seated behind us we watched as someone came right over and took their order. I opted for the cream of crab soup and crab cake egg rolls which were both pretty good. I also gave the steak and cheese a try which was surprisingly decent. I would revisit this spot with family. Its a very relaxed atmosphere so comfy casual wear is acceptable. read more

Fat Boys Crabs in Crofton gives off a strong neighborhood bar vibe, you know another CHEEERS spot. The bartender was friendly, which helped, because the menu itself wasn't exactly throwing a party. The only thing that caught my attention was their margarita which was their house version, cutely named the Sea-Rita. For some reason it wasn't even part of the happy hour deal. Their happy hour drink selection includes Tito's handmade vodka, white tea, green tea, Tullamore D.E.W., crushes, draft beers, and half off glasses of house wine. Respectable, sure, but nothing to text your group chat about. The HH food lineup? Crab pretzel, mussels, fried or grilled wings, a quarter pound of steamed shrimp, and two fish tacos. None of it hit the spot for me then, and flipping through the menu again now, I still feel the same. I've never had a crab pretzel worth a second bite, and I didn't get the sense this place would change my mind. The prices didn't scream happy hour either. One win? Their happy hour runs from 3:00 to 7:00, which I actually liked. That extra hour at the front and back gives you more wiggle room to show up fashionably early or stick around just a little longer there's traffic can be horrific around that time getting there in that area. I stopped in because my wax appointment got pushed back and this spot was on the way. Plus, they had a giant sign outside that mentioned happy hour, and I was on a mission for one. I was also chasing a full moon view over the water, looking for a little magic. Instead, I found a margarita that wasn't on special and a menu I politely declined. This felt like a one and done type of deal. But I love that there are places people can go for happy hour and seafood. Always my family's fav spot to grab seafood. The crabs here are always meaty and delicious. My personal fav is the firecracker shrimp (with the sauce on the side). I have to have it every time I dine here. The staff in the front and the waiters are always so friendly. I love the bartenders. They make the best drinks. We had 4 in our party in an empty restaurant as they were just opening for lunch. The food was very good, but each plate was brought out one at a time and took 20 minutes from the first to the last. Also, beware! There is an 18% TIP included on your bill, BUT they don't mention it. I was about to add a 20% TIP until one of our party read their bill carefully and discovered it. Almost resulted in a 38% TIP. We only had a party of 4, not a large group. Seemed a little shady to put that on in an empty restaurant and not pointing it out. read more

The Fatboys directly on 301 (not the location up in the cut) is a real come as you are spot, which I tend to enjoy. This is a no frills neighborhood feel bar that offers well priced drinks, delicious seafood options, and a real casual atmosphere. This restaurant/bar is self seating - there are a number of 4-tops, high tops, and and bar seats available in the bar area. On a Friday evening around 7:30pm there were plenty of seating options in the bar section + lots of availability in the restaurant side, so I would guess that it never really gets too crowded. The drinks are decently made and well priced - I usually stick with the simple rail drinks. Can't ever go wrong there. I do wish there were two bartenders instead of one when I visited; I found that we had to wait several minutes to get the bartenders attention to order. The food is the star of the show here - all of their food is delicious (and not shockingly, they share a menu with the 2nd location a few minutes away). This time our table got the fish and shrimp platter, fish tacos, calamari, hush puppies, and old bay wings. Everything came out really hot, fresh, and fast - very impressed with the quality of the food. The fish and shrimp platter portion was huge for just $17ish bucks - we ended up splitting this entree between two people because it was so much food. While I prefer the 2nd location (because of their awesome outdoor seating options), I'd definitely come back to the original location. This place is very different now with the new owners. Crabs aren't like they used to be. The crabs are very small even when you order large or bigger. Their prices are higher than Nick's and Nick's actually have big crabs. They need to throw that measuring tool away because it's inaccurate. As a first timer to a lot of restaurants, I like to generally ask the server what they like and by that, I want to know what they order to take home. Finally got to experience this place. This is a self seating establishment with no table service. You have to order your food when you arrive at the register, seat yourself, order drinks from the bar etc. My sister was hesitant in buying crabs because of the size and price point, but we did anyway and they were good! Hot, full of crabmeat, seasoned well and kept me happy! We also ordered the crab cake sandwich with coleslaw and the seafood broiler (I asked for my cod to be fried) with french fries. Everything was delicious and would surely visit again. The drinks were cheap and boozy! The moscow mule will never disappoint. We love going during happy hour and getting the bar bites! Baker The gentleman who works there is always really nice! Usually a nice crowd of people it's lively kind of like a sports bar vibe. The food is always on point. I love getting the orange crush, although they came out with variety of drinks. I tried a new drink. It was really good, but I still had to get the orange crush. We got a mortgage board of happy hour food- One of each food item. So we had the sweet chili wings,mussels, crab, pretzel, steamed shrimp, we added fries, and the fish tacos! Needless to say we were stuffed and had a wonderful evening. I didn't take any photos this time because I was so hungry. I dug right in ... but I guess that also leaves you wanting more! Tonight's dining experience comes via Fatboy Crab House in Crofton, MD. I decided to buy different items and plate them myself at home. I did not eat at the restaurant. I have a broiled crab cake, shrimp fettuccine pasta alfredo with broccoli and sliced bell peppers, their seasonal vegetables and a bowl of cream of crab. The crab cake was flavorful but a little over cooked. The cream of crab had too much ol' Bay seasoning ,but it was definitely good someone just got heavy handed. The seasonal vegetables were excellent. I topped my meal off with a iced cold Coke Cola. I have no complaints as the meal overall was good. I give this spot a well deserved 3.2 out of 5. Very Disappointed with the crabs this last trip. This use to be one of my go to's for crabs, nice size and delicious in taste, which kept me coming back quite often. However, that last trip to get crabs, was not a good one. Crabs are not cheap, and I always opt for the large crabs, sometimes you can get a nice sized crab in medium, but this day, those "Large" were babies!! Not only much smaller in size, hardly no meat inside, very disappointing!! When bringing up to management, they exclaimed this was their large, and offered to give me "2" extra (which I guess they felt that was satisfactory)?? When crabs are $100 a dozen So if you're looking to get large crabs, I guess it's best to ask to see the size beforehand or be disappointed. Time For me to venture out. read more

So I just visited fatboys and it was horrible. There was no air conditioning. Literally the customers were fanning themselves because it was so hot. We asked for them to turn on the A/C but they said it was on... completely not the truth. Then the tables were sticky and absolutely nasty. They needed to be wiped down and floors needed to be mopped. The place was unkept to include the bar and the floor. I guess there has been a change in management. If you want ro visit a place where u seat urself to a nasty table and order a drink at a nasty bar, this is the place to be. It was never this nasty in the past. I wish I looked at yelp before going here, I trusted Google because we had to hurry and pick a place. Well, we got steamed crabs because we're from Baltimore and were in town. The parking lot was packed, def a good sign. We ordered a dozen large males, a little over $100. Said it would take about 20 mins and only took 11. Kind of a bad sign but we didn't realize it until we got home. If you get enough crabs, you tend to know the smell of them. These immediately smelled off. We think they were sitting for a bit. 70% of the crabs' legs were at detached and at the bottom of the bag, even the claws. They were more like mediums, not large. They weren't horrible but def not the best crabs in Maryland. read more

First time visit. I have driven past several times and it always seemed busy. We ordered onion rings as a starter, a dozen crabs, a two crab cake dinner. There was only one wait person on duty in our section and he doubled as the bar tender. The rings were OK but one of the crabs was cold to the touch and the interior frosty. It was replaced but the damage done. The other crabs were flavorless and some mushy. The crab cake dinner looked good with lump meat visible however the bottom half was a tasteless filler. Sunday July 13, 2025 I would rate this place a zero if it was a choice. my husband, mom and I took my brother to the Fatboys location in Crofton, Md. for his birthday. When my husband and I went to the bar to order drinks, we encountered the rudest most unprofessional bartender. He was talking to two women sitting at the bar with his back turned From us. He never acknowledged that we were waiting to place an order. When my husband walked over to him to get his attention, he told my husband that he will be with him in a minute. He continued to talk to the women for another minute or so. When I tried to get his attention he finally came to assist us with an attitude. He did not greet nor speak. He just asked, "What do you need." I ordered a pitcher of beer.... which he had a whole conversation over while he continued to pour the beer from the tap machine. YUCK!!!! My total was $19.62. I gave him a $20 bill. He took the money, slammed his drawer and went back to talking. I definitely wasn't going to leave him a tip. When I asked for my change, he snapped slammed my receipt on the counter and said, "Go to the cashier!!!! I don't have any change over here!!!." He was a young light-skinned black male with braids in his hair. TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL!!! I am a customer and an older woman!! I was livid!! I went to complain to the manager and he just brushed me off to say that he would talk to him later. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT AND I WILL TELL ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT I KNOW NOT TO SUPPORT THIS PLACE ANYMORE. I hope this complaint reaches headquarters. Bring your own knives for the crabs! Their cheap, plastic knives are a joke and make "crackin" crabs no fun at all. The crabs were pretty good. A couple light ones in the dozen and one with mushy texture but for the most part good. Took home an order of crab cake egg rolls and they were delicious. If you don't order them for your meal, take some home! Too bad the cost of crabs is the only thing keeping people from eating a lot more but just wait til 20 years from now. Mostly everything about this place was displeasing. Was here with friends and everyone (individually) had an issue with our dining experience. When you arrive (if you're dining in), you're seated at a table; then you have to get back up and order your food at the front (but cannot order liquor; but they have a liquor store there; you cannot drink the store bought liquor at the restaurant -_-). Went to their bar/bartender that seemed to be aggravated. She made a very weak drink (vodka, orange crush and sprite). At the bar, I could not order a bottle of water -- so I had to go back to the front (where you order your food). Such an inconvenience. The restaurant had the air conditioner on full blast (which was located right above our table; the weather was not hot on this day in April). By the time I made it back to the table (from the fiasco), my food was waiting for me and it was COLD. Why was my food cold? I had to wait in line to go to two different locations for an alcoholic drink and a bottle of water as well as the table being below the air conditioner. We asked the server if the air could be turned down or off -- she said "absolutely not". The customer service here was awful. I cannot really rate my snow crab legs and corn because as I mentioned -- the food was cold by the time I sat down. The crab legs needed to go back into the steamer. I hadn't been here since 2014 or 2015. It was a different restaurant then. I wasn't expecting a loud bar but that's what it is. A good place for happy hour. The bartenders were nice and accommodating. My drinks were strong and cheap. (Titos and pineapple for $6/ margarita $7 ) There are a lot of regulars so if you live or work in the area and are looking to meet people this may be a good place to go on friday evenings. I stopped by on a Friday evening bc I had an appt in crofton and needed to be in Upper Marlboro later that evening . I ordered a cup of cream of crab and a Chicken Cheesapake sandwich (chicken breast topped with crab dip and bacon). The food was subpar. My soup was served to me in a clear plastic take out container. The soup had a good flavor and a few lumps of crab meat. The sandwich wasn't great but I was hungry so I ate it. It didnt have much flavor- no old bay, salt, pepper, nothing. I'd go back with my girls if we wanted to have drinks and socialize.
