I was able to order food at a little kiosk machine and the process was quick and simple. I was able to pick up my food quickly without much if a delay. The strawberry watermelon lemonade was delicious and perfect. It wasn't overly sweet or tart. The chicken nuggets had a very nice crunch and good spice level for hot. I didn't find them super flavorful but my husband said they were really good. I also got a chicken sandwich and a veggie roo with tomatoes and lettuce. There was a lot of meat/mushroom per respective sandwich. Again, I found the seasoning lacking. The lettuce was more like some type of slaw. As a chicken place, the fries shouldn't be the star. They don't do combos with their sandwiches so a sandwich, fry, and a can of soda is around $19.05 which in my opinion is too expensive. I got the OG and they really should put the slaw between the chicken (mine had two pieces) as it makes the bread soggy and I ate mine as soon as they handed it to me. The sandwich was okay but Slim Chickens is much better. Service was good and the staff was friendly. Overall the food was good, well seasoned and the sauce could rival that of Dave's & Canes. The portions were ~bit~ underwhelming especially from what I've seen from the website & other reviews. Roaming Rooster is my favorite chicken spot in the DMV. I was originally introduced via Instagram and really wanted to try it. There menu is very simple, chicken sandwiches, wings and nuggets. My favorites include the OG Nashville, a buttermilk fried chicken breast sandwich with house made vinaigrette slaw and pickles and the wings. The wings are supposed to come with 3 but I always get 4 wings with sliced bread and pickles. You can choose your heat level from mild to extra hot. I never go past medium sometimes this is too hot for me and I got back to mild. I also like that the meat here is halal/kosher. Please note the bacon ks pork. I finally decided to stop by Roaming Rooster in Crofton, Maryland. Located on the side of the Gold's Gym, RR serves up some of the BEST chicken sandwiches I've ever eaten. Not just chicken sandwiches, but delicious fries, milkshakes, chicken wings and more. You can even select the heat level on your chicken. Everything from Mild to Extra Hot. I placed my order online and ended up getting The Club sandwich. The chicken breast used for this sandwich was impressively large and nice and crispy! Very seldom do I go places and I find myself impressed with their fries, but these fries were pretty impressive. PLUS, they placed a ton of them in my bag. I picked up the honey butter chicken sandwiches for my parents and they were equally impressed. The store front is small with perhaps 2 small places to sit, so be prepared to carry your order out. The parking lot is so congested and weird. Cars coming in and out, people parking wherever, it's just a nuisance and a hassle. It's all worth it tho, just to get to those chicken sandwiches! I heard this place had just opened through the Crofton neighborhood Facebook page and had to check it out when I was visiting family. This place is pretty obscure unless you're looking for it as it's in a corner, partly blocked by Gold's Gym next door and trees across the parking lot by the road. It's a very small chicken shop with a couple tables and chairs out front, a row of counters to eat inside, a restroom, and the ordering counter. The menu is quite limited and not overwhelming for a fast food which is great. The staff working at the register was super friendly and recommended the Honey Butter chicken sandwich as their most popular. I opted for that and a side of fries. The sandwich came in a potato bun and had two filets with a slice of cheddar cheese. I've never heard of Roaming Rooster before but wow, was the sandwich good! The fried chicken was huge, crispy and juicy. It had so much flavor with the honey butter in it. The fries reminded me of Boardwalk fries, not too thick and tender on the inside - quite good as well. This Crofton location has been in its soft opening stage so the hours aren't as long but it was a great experience. So glad this is in Crofton now! It's exceptionally good chicken, and my only real beef is the price. Granted, the portions are HUGE and the quality is evident, but... just be ready to spend a buck or two more than you thought you would. Still, for the cost, it is up there in overall quality. You won't find your average fast food chicken sandwich here. Note, if you're a lightweight on spice tolerance (like me), even the mild can be a little tangy! The Customer service is very polite & the CSR even welcomes you with so much enthusiasm,delight and funny same time. Alright... I've heard so much about this place. My youngest daughter asks us to pick it up for her when we're in DC, so I thought I'd give it a try. Walking in it's quite small and meant for carry out I believe because there are just a couple of stools at a small counter. From the reviews it appears that their soft opening is lasting way longer than I've ever seen. I would prefer they commit to a standard schedule, communicate when they will be opening for good or at least update their website with information regarding the opening and hours upcoming. Second times the charm! I was in the area & decided to try the OG Chicken sandwich MILD and WOW...it was excellent!!! A total flavor explosion from the first bite. The chicken is well seasoned and has a slight kick so if you don't do ANY HEAT, this isn't the sandwich for you. The chicken was crispy, juicy & tender. The slaw and pickled onions elevated the taste and texture. BUT the surprise came in the form of two sauces the cashier encouraged me to try on the sandwich: the rooster sauce & the honey mustard. I'm not a sauce kinda gal but I love trying new things and Oh Boy was I glad I did! The honey mustard was good but the rooster sauce was amazing. They were cooked twice but I'll ask for them crispy next time. A little too soggy for our liking. Lastly, this location is tiny. It's basically a small carry out tucked on the backside of a Dollar General. There's five or six seats inside at a bar facing the wall and two small tables outside. The first thing to know about Roaming Rooster is - know what you are getting into. At least this location is very small with minimal counters and stools for eating in. It definitely caters to more of the carry out crowd. That said, I've been a couple of times (at the recommendation of friends), and both times I have come away highly satisfied. The portions are solid, the chicken is tender, and the spicing (at least at the medium level) is good for flavor without being overpowering - at least IMO. I've had both the Buffalo Sandwich and the Club, and both were excellent. And the Fries... also excellent, and they are very generous with the portion - similar to the way that Five Guys dumps extra fries into the bag, Roaming Rooster does the same. If you don't mind spending a little bit more than you would at Chik-Fil-A, the Rooster is a fantastic option in the same area. The only reasons I'm giving them 4* instead of 5. 1) I'd like to see a small fry option - the amount they give you could easily be split among 3 or 4 people - and is way too many for 1 or 2. 2) The location, or more specifically, the exit for this location can get blocked by traffic getting out of the mall/plaza if you catch it at the wrong time. read more

The OG Nashville was a large but not huge sandwich, and very tasty. I opted for the hottest variety on the menu, which was hot enough to make me break a sweat in this hot weather but not uncomfortably hot. Their fries were definitely amongst the best, if not the best, that I've had. Total came to almost $17 for the sandwich and fries, which I thought was a little too much, hence the 4 stars and not 5. But that said, the price was on par with places like Five Guys (which I also think is priced too high). The guy taking orders and ringing people up at the register today and the guy bringing people their food when ready we're both pleasant enough.
