This is a must-visit if you're in UC Riverside's University Village! A friend who attended UCR said this was the best Asian bakery in Riverside and the go-to hangout for international students from Asia. I understood why when I finally went to Uncle Chuang's! If you spend over $7, you can get free green tea. It's very sweet but not overly-so. I highly recommend it. There's cute Totoro and turtle buns which are definitely Instagrammable. I got $12 worth of buns to last me a few days, and really liked the bbq pork one, red bean one, and matcha green tea cheesecake. There's something for everyone. Thank goodness there is an Asian bakery in Riverside! My boyfriend got a chocolate cake for me for my birthday, and it was delicious! I came here for the first time to get a cake for HIS birthday, but this time I got his preferred cake flavor - vanilla. I was happy that I got a free iced tea for spending more than $7 at the bakery! I think you can get a free coffee instead of tea, but I think that's only if you come in the morning. I will have to come back here and buy other baked goods! They have a lot of bread with many flavors. They seem to have more sweet than savory, but in recent visits, I've seen more savory. I like their puddings and smaller items. I don't feel worried about not finishing it in a sitting and having to add it to the fridge. The bread can sit out for a while which makes it easier to travel with it. My partner likes the layered sandwiches and I was confused as to why it was so sweet. She says it's the mayonnaise but I think it's the bread. Lots of parking, they validate, no bathroom, and nice people. It's a nice spot. read more

I FOUND NAPOLEONES IN THE IE!!!!!!!! They call it napoleons but if you're Filipino and from the same island as me THIS SPOT HAS IT! And what's good with their version is that its not as sweet as the ones back home. They're flaky and the filling . And if you don't know what I'm talking about you need to try it. In general, I love the Asian styled breads including the cakes and sandwiches! The fave right now for me is the pork sung bread. Whether it be a small breakfast or a small lunch, they have cycling fresh bakery items that include Chinese hot dog buns, chicken burger sandwiches (my favorite!), and a "Chinese" omelette. They also have cake rolls inside their fridge and various baked cookies on their other wall. If you ever been to 85* Bakery then it's the same concept but a lot smaller. All of the bakery items are individually wrapped and there's something for everyone. The service here is always top notch and all of the servers/cashiers are super friendly. This is one of the most surprising bakeries in Riverside. The quality and value are outstanding. You can't go wrong with anything you select. My wife tried the Creme Brulee, and they even flamed the sugar top! This place has the best char siu bao I've had anywhere including dim sum restaurants. And these aren't the mini ones you get at dim sum restaurants. They are more like the "manapuas" you get in Hawaii. But the char siu filling is generous and full of chunks not shedded char siu like you find at so many places. read more

I am so happy I found this place in Riverside because now I don't have to travel down to OC or LA for good Asian bakery goods. They are located inside the university village shopping center. They will validate your parking ticket with purchase. The service there is friendly and welcoming, the price and value of some of the baked goods are far better than OC and LA, the quality of the baked goods are amazing. They bake all their stuff right there in the store and they make two batches so go early because they do run out quickly. The bread is so fresh and it's really soft. I found this bakery online and decided to give it a try. I placed a strawberry chocolate cake for a bday. The online ordering was easy with nice pictures. The bakery is clean with so much pastries on display and some savory ones to. The cake appeared as the picture the staff was friendly. I also got some pineapple treats they reminded me of the Mexican ones except not as sweet nor much flavor. Love, love, love! This isn't your typical bakery with the overwhelming buttercream cakes and sugar filled pastries. The breads and cakes are flavorful and sophisticated without having that overwhelming sugar compacted into it. I picked up a pandan roll, a matcha cheesecake, and a mango mouse slice - all were a wonderful addition to after dinner dessert with some coffee or tea. Having said that, I would definitely suggest asking for a receipt since I was charged more than I was told by the cashier.
