You had me at six hours of happy hour. I was just along for the ride when my boyfriend walked us to this bar, so I was pretty (and pleasantly) surprised when we walked in and it was happy hour - and when I learned that happy hour is from 1 to 7 everyday with $2 off drafts. Uncle Barry's has an excellent beer selection, and the bonus of $2 off is a pretty sweet deal. (If we weren't there during happy hour, the $10 flights wouldn't have been so bad either.) We grabbed a few pints of new beers we'd never tried before and stayed for a few rounds. There was a decent crowd on a Thursday afternoon - busy enough for it to be interesting, but not too busy, so we were still able to find seats. The bar also has a nice little outdoor area with two picnic tables in back. Kind of a silly side note: There are two bathrooms - one marked by a picture of R2-D2, the other with a picture of C-3PO wearing a hat. (I don't think gender matters.) read more

Every table was full for Wednesday night trivia. For a new place, they've done a great job bringing people in. I think it helps that trivia now begins at 9 pm-- we actually ended up at Uncle Barry's because we couldn't make it to trivia at another place. The mood was a balance of humorous and intense (I love the dead silence in the candlelit darkness. You could hear people sweat.). Good choice of questions...a sprinkling here and there of obscure questions and giveaways. Just enough to rouse your inner nerd and not make you feel defeated right away. Finally a low-key, down to earth bar in Park Slope!! The place is owned by a guy from Milwaukee, so it's got a shit-ton of draft options, and a crazy cheese plate. They also have Doc's on tap for the folks who had too many whiskey sours at brunch and need to bring it down a level. Creative cocktails like the bourbon filled hot apple cider will have me coming back for me. Also, $2 off happy hour EVERY SINGLE DAY. i'm not going to give this place 5 stars, but that isn't because i don't love this place, because i do. I took a star off because nobody is perfect - but this place is close. Listen, i'm a drinker. This place is a classic, and I'm pretty sure it's by accident. Except the beer selection. No beer list that exciting could ever be by accident. They rotate frequently (so I'm told), and keep in touch with what's bold in the beer world. They had my favorite seasonal Troeg's (Nuggent Nector), my favorite Lagunita's (Little Sumthin' Sumthin'), 21st Ammendment Back in Black IPA... I was drooling. The bartenders I met are funny and very real. I hate TVs in anywhere I'm trying to talk to people, though. Anytime I come here the drinks are solid. The staff is super friendly and competent. I don't even mind the overflow from Barclays (which can be insane and unpleasant, but the staff always manages well) But where the f~~k is the hammock?? Ariana needs a hammock. I used each bathroom, but it's so obvious that more women use C3PO and more men use R2D2. Discuss. -Bartender was knowledgable and friendly The night we came here, there was an event going on at the Barclays Center which had just let out as we were getting to the subway. It was a nightmare trying to get on the subway, and we noticed that everyone leaving Barclays was 60+ and Russian. Later, we realized that there was a classical conductor from Russia performing there that night. This likely explains why Uncle Barry's was not crowded that night at all. I'm guessing during basketball games or other concerts that young people attend, this place would be crazy. read more

Fratty? I have zero tolerance for fratty. None. I have a frat-allergy. I find nothing fratty about this place. And the owners/staff are so incredibly friendly (even when I bump into them in the neighborhood, in the morning). There's a lot to be said for remembering a customer's name after the very first time they come in. If you go in the winter time, have some of the spiked hot apple cider. Yum. read more

Uncle Barry's is a great addition to the already bar-packed 5th avenue. They've got a great selection of draft beers and the bartenders are not stingy with the samples. Well drinks are reasonably strong. Wednesday night trivia is challenging but not frustratingly so (I'm looking at you, Pacific Standard), though it does get quite crowded. Most importantly, however, you can order prosciutto-wrapped Twix bars, which seems like a bad idea... but is actually the BEST idea. read more

I've walked past this bar bunches and bunches of times and never actually thought of going inside. Few weekends ago it finally happened as we were lost on where there was a decent Saturday happy hour and confused on what to do other than drink. Hey, they do Trivia here too! Every Wednesday at 9pm. $50 bar tab to the winners. Though I've never done it here, I am a trivia fiend and usually get at least in the top 5 at Common Ground's in the E. Village. Their drink special I think was $2 off of most things wells/wines/beers. I was in a wine mood this day and went with a great rose. Pretty solid beer selection. Tvs for sports. No actual food but bar snacks, but whatever. They have menus. I was hypnotized by both this couple carrying around a pumpkin with them to the bar and also more importantly by the STAR WARS pictures on the BATHROOM DOORS. Triple exclamation point, insert several hearts. I love R2D2. They also let us linger for an extra solid amount of time sans drinks after my friend had a mini melt down. read more

Great classic beer bar just a block away from the Barclays Center. Very good tap selection, relaxing atmosphere, great service. It's a Wisconsin (Packers/Brewers) bar, which is odd for the middle of Brooklyn, but cool in its own right, fits right in. Only Con is that sometimes the beer doesn't taste fresh, had a Lagunitas at the irish dive-bar next door, tasted waaay better, leads me to believe that the staff at Uncle Barry's doesn't always clean the taps as this has happened a few time in the last year, which is shameful because that's how good beer gets ruined and they should be more proactive in their tap up-keep. read more

Stumbled in here with a friend last night. It was midnight and we were trying to find bar serving draft beer, room to sit and music that was at a comfortable level where we can talk at a normal volume. The place seems like a low key pub, serving about 15 different kinds of drafts, cocktails and cheese. A neighborhood bar to chill, chat and drink. Bartenders were laid back. Stopped by Uncle Barry's with some friends for the weekly trivia night; unfortunately the bar owner, who doubles as the quiz master, chose to use the word "faggot" in a question about gay marriage. When my friends and I asked to speak to him about this questionable word choice, he was evasive, then eventually became abusive, claiming that it was both his right, as the bar owner (and a straight, white man) and his intention to continue to use both racial and homophobic slurs "to get a response" at his trivia nights. He was unapologetic about using the aforementioned "faggot," as well as various racial slurs, and eventually lost control and screamed at us as we left the bar, telling us to never come back. For the record, I'm a straight woman, and the friends I was out with that night were a racially diverse group of gay men, who deserve better than hate speech and discrimination from a bar owner who needs to know that simply owning an establishment doesn't give you carte blanche to abuse customers and denigrate individuals for their race, gender, or sexuality. Please spread the word that this bar is a hateful, abusive, and potentially dangerous environment for people who care about LGBT issues and basic civil rights, in general. read more

This is my favorite local bar, and they always have really cool and interesting beers on tap. It is cozy, warm, and inviting, and it is fun to sit in one of the seats by the big windows and people-watch. It is super popular if there is an event at Barclays, but at off-peak times it is not hard to find a seat. In the winter they have spiced hot apple cider to which you can add rum or bourbon or enjoy on its own. read more

I came here to meet friends and watch the Cavs vs Warriors game 2. At first the sound wasn't on but eventually they got it to work by half time. No food menu but they allow you to bring in outside food which is a plus. Drink menu is average with about 3 or 4 dozen beers and some special cocktails. None are above $11. The vibes are very chill, dimly lit, half exposed brick, half drywall lined with framed posters. A good spot to check out if you just want a drink or to catch a game. read more

They had several NFL games going on a Sunday afternoon. They have a big screen TV too, which I'm assuming they use to screen various shows & games. Came here after we gave up on the Black Sheep Pub on our way to a concert at the Barclays Center. Was a little crazy, but a nice place! Bartenders dealt with the large crowd & were friendly. Gave huge shots & once tipped nicely, she made sure to take good care off us. Bathrooms were pretty clean & found it interesting that the sinks are separate from the stalls. read more

Chill, relaxed, and great beer!! Truly a winning combination. This is hands down one of my favorite bars in the slope. Their beer list is updated frequently, with A-list beers always on tap. Plus HAPPY HOUR every day from 1-7 with $2 off all drafts. Most are $6 full price, which ain't too shabby either. But getting some world class beers for $4 during happy hour is unbeatable. A few other things to note... during football Sundays, they air games on to a projector. Great place to go watch my GMEN and kick back with some brews. We went there to watch the Packers game and the bartender was being so rude and would not turn on the volume. Normally we love this place for being a Packers bar. We asked repeatedly for the sound and she would not entertain the Packers fans. Uncle Barry's lost a lot of business because of this. Many patrons who came for the game left because of the bartender's unwillingness to cooperate. read more
